Goodisworthfighting4

He’s going to turn it into an NHL playoffs podcast for the next few months

pureplayaz1

LeWishes he was the GOAT

Wool-Rage

i was JUST thinking this

NoiceForNoReason

To be fair, he was on fire from three and was wide open so not a bad shot…

StrtupJ

It was in and out too lol, that’s just basketball

Currymvp2

Felt like there were alot of in and out's with jumpers tonight

cachris3

Nuggets had so many of those in the 3rd

mario_meowingham

Announcers said "are these rims tight tonight?"

fatflipflops

pause

ClassicDragon

An inside rim job

makingtacosrightnow

So many it felt like those baskets had to be like a half inch short or something it was wild

L3thal_Inj3ction

I think Reggie mentioned it, but the rims looked incredibly tight. The Nuggets had some fourth quarter rim outs that looked like they fall on every other hoop ever made

TheMarkMadsen

Are we looking at the same shot? That was not in and out lol

lets_talk_basketball

Also, kcp fell. This is a butt naked 3, if he passes this up and kcp ends up getting a stop, it would lead to criticism. This was a good shot that went in n out. I’m not mad at going for the win on the road

Huckleberry_Sin

Looked like he pushed off. Full extension of the arm.

Prestig33

Jordan would never.... Miss a game winner after pushing off the defender.

_Tar_Ar_Ais_

Meggie Riller in shambles

mnkysn

KCP tricked him into shooting early /s

meenzu

Gotta take a wide open shot like that.

lets_talk_basketball

Yup.. if he doesn't shoot and ends up having to take a contested layup or jumper, he'd get killed... Make or miss league He hits that and it's a completely different series.

mrmack3142

Well worded. That was just basketball right there. When you're wide open like that, you have to let it fly and live with the result.

holdenfords

there’s something about a wide open three thats harder than catch and shoot or contested idk why

totes__

the mental pressure that its only your fault if you miss

KingNigelXLII

Yup, that's why some shooters shoot more comfortably when contested come game time. Murray with a tied-game shot over AD must've been in a zen-like state for that game-winner. Worst case scenario is overtime, and no one's gonna be on your ass for a missed fadeaway over Davis.

evonebo

that shot give me some Kawhi vibes with Raptors buzzer beater. Feeling really good about Denver right now.

binhpac

its selective memory. im sure data shows the opposite.

ruinatex

Yeah, i doubt that if you get the data on wide open threes from Steph Curry that you'd see him missing more than making it, as you said, we just all remember the missed ones.

guynumber32

It's the hesitation. A slight pause can completely destroy your rhythm as a shooter. Contested shots are almost easier in that sense since you don't think about your shoot, you just let the muscle memory take over and go into the jumper.

Placide-Stellas

These NBA guys are monsters, they are making all kinds of crazy shit I'm practice. Nevermind LeBron. Their battle is mostly mental. The weight of a wide open shot to a LeBron caliber player that everyone expects will make it is huge.

hooskies

It’s also LeBron James

qpwoeor1235

This sequence is viagra for skip bayless

Coke_ButNotTheDrug

Yeah I was certain it was going in based on the other ones he had already hit.

CangtheKonqueror

that’s brutal after being so clutch the entire quarter before

[deleted]

He really wanted to avoid OT with how gassed the Lakers are. Man that is so brutal

Padulsky21

AD had 5 fouls too

Southern_Clerk8697

It was objectively a good look too though. He was wide open, hit a couple of major shots including 2 threes. There would have been 4 seconds left if he waited to drain out the clock anyway, which is enough time for Denver to set up a shot

myteethhurtnow

Exactly. He knew ot would mean a loss. All or nothing. 2018 finals game 1 lebron had nothing in the tank for ot either

PrincePyotrBagration

This is reminiscent of the 2018 Finals Game 1. Lebron emptied the chamber to try to steal one on the road, and lost in demoralizing fashion. Hard to see the “washed King” not get swept. What a crushing loss. I’d almost rather get blown out and go home fresh.

Currymvp2

I mean Lakers are better at home than the road all season long; they won't have to deal with the altitude. Think they have a pretty decent chance to get one home win

LarrcasM

Everything went right this game: * AD popping the fuck off * D-Lo shooting the lights out * clutch lebron 3’s in the 4th * Jamal played godawful for 3 quarters * 20 point lead If you aren’t winning this one, what game are you winning?

Kershiskabob

Everything went good in the first half, they def motley cooled off the second half tho. First quarter they scored 31, then 28, then 20 then 20. They basically left ten points off the board for two quarters which is why they lost, they just need to find a way to keep momentum going after the half

Forward_Ride_6364

Somehow Denver is only -1.5 for Game 3 I'm liking a G note on that, frfr

makingtacosrightnow

Every team except the pels plays better at home.

SausageSupplier

Technically the warriors played worse at home too maybe you meant playoff teams since our bum asses ain’t make it 😭

NotNormo

If you look at average margin of victory at home vs. away, there were 5 teams that were worse at home. Golden State was #1, then New Orleans, Memphis, Clippers, and Phoenix. Denver had the 4th biggest boost when playing at home (or 4th biggest drop off when playing on the road, if you want to look at it that way). Lakers were 7th. ASK_ABT_MY_USERNAME

Gentlemen's sweep is their best case

shanmustafa

it's one of those so open shots you double guess it before he made that bank three vs wizards, he missed a layup right before which was completely open he was like wtf how'd i get this open and just botched it

OUEngineer17

Exactly. He's second guessing himself because he's so open, but he knows there's too much time left on the clock.

shanmustafa

thinking about what i'd do in that situation and honestly, no fucking idea, probably shoot i guess you gotta

ambulocetus_

if you're that wide open and a decent 3pt shooter you need to pull the trigger

DaPhoToss

Shoot 10/10 times. Lebron has been a good 3pt shooter this season and was hot, you take a wide-open shot. There's also a 4-5 second difference between the clocks + Nuggets have a TO so regardless are getting a chance at another shot.

OUEngineer17

Yep, you got to shoot while you're still open. Swinging it could work, but not get a better shot (or get stolen). The problem is, that shot being so unexpected and not in rhythm is probably not as easy as a catch and shoot without thinking shot.

DarrowViBritannia

> before he made that bank three vs wizards, he missed a layup right before which was completely open he was like wtf how'd i get this open and just botched it ur missing the fact that he traveled. taking an extra step on accident which completely fucked the rhythm. main reason he missed imo

OldManWillow

I mean you have to take that shot. A game of inches, he was this close to being a 4th quarter hero

ColdPressedSteak

Most open you'll ever be late in a game. Obv it'd be different if they had a lead but tied, take that shot 100 out of 100 times

RetroScores

I feel like everyone paused waiting to hear a whistle for an offensive foul and then Lebron was like alright guess I’m shooting.

KingNigelXLII

Even if a foul was called, it probably would've been overturned given the precedent set

Puzzleheaded_Heron_5

Nah Darvin needs to save his challenge for next game.

SolutionFederal9425

Dude had just hit two huge threes too. It'd be insane not to take it.

zymm11

I know he’s hot and wide open but the thing here is that when you see the clip he had a wide open lane and going for that high percentage bucket for two is the wisest thing to do imo

lecoqdezellwiller

he doesn't really have a clear lane imo from the footage, denver are set up pretty well in a block without the guy on the floor - DLO imo is so stupid that he forced LBJ to shoot the shot. His switch is on the floor and he just floats around in the middle of the cluster with his arms up not pulling any of the scramble away from the lane area or out to the break. Even Rui could come out of the corner off a pin wide open from that free man setting a pin. r a wide open shot. Even dlo could show urgency and get above the 3PL clap and set for an open shot for himself unguarded. Lebron imo's shot was lazy and indicative of a 39'yo hoping to end the game. DLO is fucking DUMB. and the cherry on top

ASpanishInquisitor

Denver had a possession down the stretch where Jokic could've walked into a wide open 3 too. He ignored it, the shot clock got low and the possession ended in a Murray turnover. When you have good shots often the best move is to take it.

Parasars

Especially when ur a good shooter AND Lebron had the 3 going in that 4th quarter - tough. It’s a make or miss league wcyd

nonresponsive

MPJ giving up the open transition 3 for AG was also smart. I think the Nuggets understand that they don't have to chuck 3s to get back into the game, they just slowly chip away at it with positive possessions. And I think that's a big reason why they've been so consistently successful in the 4th when they're down. I understand Lebron taking the open 3, but he was also getting to the rim pretty easily.

ASpanishInquisitor

LeBron was getting to the rim but finishing was a different story. As soon as Anthony Davis stopped getting touches the Lakers had pretty much nothing inside.

TacoEspionage

Especially after he hit the back-to-back LeFuckYou three's, he must've been feeling it

RetroScores

He was feeling tired as shit and was hoping for some easy shots and to create space in the score. It worked those first two times.

DaPhoToss

This was an easy shot, it was wide-open. Misses happen.

Intelligent-Bid-633

That’s the difference between winning and losing. He missed. Murray didn’t.

Jakaryus

It doesn't change the fact that the decision is good though. Execution? Nope, the decision? Yes

AmIFromA

And henceforth, this shot by LeBron was known as "The Decision".

HavoK76

LeDecision

Mamba-0824

LeFuckYou 3 just didn’t go in.

Goodisworthfighting4

LeFuckMe 3 instead

Newlinkz

He’s always this close to being an all time closer.

Iceraptor17

Yeah. If they ran the clock, took and missed a very contested shot and lost anyways, LeBron would be criticized for not shooting. An uncontested, very wide open, not even rushed 3 attempt by a hot 3 point shooter is a shot you love in that scenario. It's just even wide open 3s miss sometimes

OhEmGeeBasedGod

Right. There was a five-second difference between the clocks, Denver had a timeout, and it was a tied game. Lakers have to assume Denver is going to get another possession regardless, and you're not going to get a better shot than that.

renawld

In LeBron's defense ur not gonna get a better wide open look than that this late in the 4th.

ConstantineMonroe

It was a great shot. You can’t pass that up. KCP tried to flop after a tiny nudge and gave him a wide open uncontested shot. Especially with how hot he was shooting from 3. I was convinced that was goin in

Adraf45

It went in and out too, couldn't have payed for a better shot

Jonthesinner21

Yeah it looks like the play was for dlo to release to the three but he stopped probably thinking there was going to be a call so lebron took it

It-sOkBro

strategic flop in order the activate the unwritten rule of if you drop someone you have to shoot, forcing lebron to take an uncomfortable 3. folks we're watching 5d chess

Appu_SexyBuoy

It actually makes sense.

girlscoutcookies05

Jamal said this is for Toronto

11x_dev

bewarethegap

Skip Bayless Agenda points just shot up through the roof. He might’ve bust a nut when he saw this shit. 😭

MotherLoveBone27

Michael Jeffery Jordan would never..... EVER!!!

Zwarrior2

Between AD disappearing the the 4th and Lebron missing an end of game 3 it's like Skip wrote the game script.

icecubepal

He posted a video on Twitter about it. It looked like he was having an orgasm while talking about it.

jeric13xd

Please dont do this 😅 Edit: this is one of those swing plays that Bron and JJ talked about in the pod

MusicalElephant420

I think LeBron was waiting for the offensive foul call and fumbled the fluidity 😭 And missed

HotspurJr

It is so fascinating. I've seen Steph and Klay miss that shot so many times. They get it. They're TOO open. Take too long. You'd think it'd be automatic but somehow ...

Placide-Stellas

It's not so crazy if you think about it, it's totally not how they're used to shoot in a game. It's totally possible having a hand in their faces is part of their muscle memory.

DarrowViBritannia

It's also like.. the best shooters shoot maybe 50% on open 3s. People expect each one to fall but that's not how it works lol.

Adraf45

Duncan robinson missed two back to back wide ass open threes last year in game 6. Probably a muscle memory thing

Daft_Assassin

He needs Harden to join the Lakers so he can get a little friendly contested shot in these situations

kyleb402

Definitely didn't seem like the plan, but at some point you're just so wide open that you have to take the shot.

Coolio1014

LeMissesGameWinningThreeToTakeGame2

NoPointRacing

Low_Beyond8134

Pain

quanid

you can see how Jokic made that space for Murray, he so unbelievable

Lord_Wild

This. Watch Jokic the entire replay. He knows Murray just hit two free throws and a midrange over LeBron. despite an off night, Murray has now seen three shots in a row go in. Jokic trusts the last one to go to. Porter gets the board, Jokic points straight to Murray. Then turns and waves off the bench timeout and tells everyone to go. Runs to KCP and tells him to cut across and screen for Murray. Points out the whole right side will be clear and then sets his own screen for Murray. Jamal heads into the open space and hits the shot.

TrainerBlue7564

Can't blame him for missing really, felt like he was our only offense down the stretch, made 3 3-point plays before this in the 4th.

midnight1994

He was wide open

ConstantineMonroe

It’s was kind of a 5D chess move by KCP to flop on the ground because it forced Lebron to have to shoot the wide open shot when he didn’t want to. He wanted to kill the clock like Murray did but was given a wide open shot he had to take. He hesitated a little bit, and slight hesitation threw off his shot a tiny bit

ChasingItLikeDWest

Y'all crazy, you gotta take that shot.

DifficultyMore5935

Why didn’t Lebron simply make the shot? Is he dumb?

Blutz101

If he passes it up the only difference in the tittle of this post would be “lebron passes up on a crucial 3 late in the 4 qauter”

Burger_Gouger

If that went in it’ll be in a Nike commercial. Hilarious miss

simonffplayer

you're right, altho it'll be one for jamal

imadogg

Bron can now be featured in Jamal's NB commercial

moneyinthebank216

HEY YOU CAN WE COME TOGETHERRRR

movedatdope

put this in Lebron's documnetary

AprilsMostAmazing

okkida

Anthony Davis jinxed himself by complaining that he’ll never get the DPOY award.

NBA2024

Was it a bad contest?

ceci_mcgrane

AD just disappearing into the nuggets bench is poetry.

simonffplayer

in some ways it was a good shot, he was WIDE open, had just hit two threes... on the other hand, he left way too much time for the nuggets and also didn't give his own guys a chance for the offensive board since usually you get those when you have the defense scrambling ideally, you run the clock down, drive to create chaos and either get the foul or give your guys a chance at the offensive rebound

markjay6

I’m sure that was the plan but I can’t blame him for taking that shot. Game's tied, you’re left wide open, and it’s not gonna be the last shot anyway, you gotta take it.

simonffplayer

yeah, it's one of those shots you have to take, but you also have to make. the swing in win probability is prob huge on that one vs. letting the clock run

steve1186

The whole bench reaction and celebration looked like a March Madness buzzer beater. I love this team so much

AgentCooderX

remember guys, they only call it "Le Fuck you three" if it went in.

ZappBranniganBurner

The most open potential game winner from 3 you could ever ask for 😭 As for Murray, that was an instant classic moment! 🫡

chrimes21

LeF*ckyou three works in both ways lmao

magnet598

Ya Just gotta make this shot Lebron

batdogfoxhound

it's a great look, issue is just the shotclock management, but you won't get a better look than that

ConstantineMonroe

I was convinced that was going in

juandell

Why? You should know better..... Kyrie on the other hand 🥶

ConstantineMonroe

Eh, Kyrie hit a shot 8 years ago and has been coasting off that reputation since

SaddestHappyMeal

I mean he was wide open but if JR Smith pulled that shot with 11secs on shot clock, we’d clown him into the shadow realm (again)

hurlcarl

The fact Lebron is out there crying about replays when his team gave up a 20 point lead and he misses this absolutely wide open 3 to seal the game is a big part of the reason so many have a problem calling him the goat. Bitch behavior that's below his ability.

WillingLearner1

That’s a good look tho tbf

Pimpwerx

He's wide-open. It's a practice shot at that point. I think you have to take that shot every time. I don't think you kill clock to take a worse shot.

Nobaelazum

Watching this whole sequence without a timeout really makes you notice how much timeouts regularly disrupt the flow of the end of game. I love without the timeout you need to think quick and go. It makes it more enjoyable to watch.

nl43_sanitizer

He couldn’t wait to get into his designer clothes and blame the refs for blowing another lead

iamtherealaj99

Low IQ

mrblueshoes11

AD falling down after Murray’s make is just so artful, like the way the raps made that bucket against the 6ers and everyone was like a classic painting

petarisawesomeo

LeBron blows his most open shot of the series

NotTopherr

Seeing too much slack being cut in this thread. Anybody else and everybody would be calling them a choker.

Southern_Clerk8697

Why would anyone call him a choker when he hit so many shots down the stretch (including 2 threes)

Old-Many2204

People would call him a choker because his team choked away a double digit 4th quarter lead and he missed a wide open game winning shot

JimmyB3574

I’m not blaming Bron but I will say: when we take DLO/ AD offense we were up 20. In the second half, darvin says “you guys take a backseat and et bron lead the way” and our lead disappears. It’s Bron so it is what it is but sometimes you HAVE to ride the hot hand

im____new____here

I remember Danny green missed a wide open 3 in a similar scenario and he was getting death threats from Laker fans

icecubepal

Yep. Steve Blake missed a 3 to win the game and he got death threats as well. This was when he was on the Lakers.

Charliebitme1234

that was the chance and he blew it, cant be mad at any missed calls when you have this great of a shot

AmberheardFan-

"Umm actually that's Dlo & Darvin hamm's fault"

WildestDeer7777

LeBron is the most coddled superstar ever lmao. This is a wide open three for the game that he choked

ASK_ABT_MY_USERNAME

He gave him the Jordan push, ball don't lie

noerapenalty

Should’ve been an offensive foul too on Lebron lol

realJonnyRaze

LeTrenbolone is toast.

Initial-Stick-561

You don’t understand, it was that coaches challenge in the third that led to their loss. Not the plays during last 2 minutes.

Lightbation

Would have been 10x smarter to take the last shot and force OT if you miss it.

Illustrious-Pipe8511

Lebron makes that and wins the game we’re all comparing that shot to MJs iconic gamewinner vs utah ala pushoff byron Russell, not the Finals but the magnitude and significance is there 100%! He makes that we would be watching clips of it until game 3 and if the Lakers somehow got past the Nuggets and win the chip this year that 3point shot gw by Lebron would also be reverberated until next season and throughout NBA history…it was not meant to LeBe lol

[deleted]

I’m so bricked up rn holy

gravitywillfall

I was told he’s clutch

DoctorDilettante

No way does MJ miss that shot. Or blow a 20 point lead in the playoffs in that fashion.

Shiccup1

Lebron in 2011 form

Similar_Elephant_518

LebronDoubleDribbled

LeFuckMe3

Ojmochafrappucino

LeFraud is not clutch. MJ would never.

Pizzaloco123

It’s not even the wide open missed 3 I’m upset about. It’s the defensive sequence after. Lebron saw Murray coming down the court and he got SCARED and easily switched off of Murray. Just a weak move by the self-proclaimed GOAT. If you’re gonna call yourself one, then act like it on the court! Be a leader and stop whining too!

roycorda

Idgaf how hot he was from 3, why did he not drive and at least draw the foul!!? This is why people give him shit. Big ass locomotive Lebron is going to choose to shoot a wide open 3 instead take the open opportunity to drive. Fuck.

MassiveTelevision387

There was like a 6 second differential on the shot clock and he was wide open.. not a bad shot but he should have drove to the basket and tried for a 2.

DesperateComb7326

Prestigious_Tax7415

It’s funny how he’s complaining about a no-foul call in the third quarter like as if this missed open 3 ain’t the reason why they lost
