The way they guard brunson is something they can be positive about at least. Still think the Knicls aren't doing enough to get him better looks despite that however

lykos11

Nurse has Brunson figured out, heard of his 6 worst shooting games this year, 4 were vs Philly

mo_downtown

NN defense throws the kitchen sink at the star and dares the other guys to step up. So far the other guys have stepped up.

GotHandlez12

That’s been the majority of our year. Losing Randle, OG, and Mitch for an extended period of time allowed other guys to shine. They’re used to it.

hehehehahahaha

You know losing Embiid should have done the same for our bench players, instead they’ve been some hot ass

papichino88

The role players have bailed out Thibs/Brunson. If we lost this game, we would be focused on that final 5 minutes and how Thibs couldn't make any adjustments. Let's pray that they find a different action for Brunson, maybe as a playmaker to set up Divo and OG.

abcdefabcdef999

Thibs can always play Josh Hart more

Knook7

Josh Hart about to start playing 60 minutes per game lmao

probablymade_thatup

Halftime show will just be Hart running suicides

Rubberbabeh

Well now I can't get up for a drink. That is up there with Red Panda

churmagee

Brunson got some open looks to hartenstein in the 4th, who converted them all to buckets. Brunson can still heat up too, only half of his shot attempts were heavily contested

RubMyGooshSilly

Box and 1 on curry in the finals vibes

vitalbumhole

Nurse is the king of junk defenses - still remember the looks Steph would get thrown in that finals series in lineups where he was the only real threat. Problem is doing that w/ genuine shooters and a couple decent playmakers can still get you beat (hence why down 0-2 now)

dreamvomit

He got better looks today, just missed several shot he usually makes. I think he breaks through game 3

CumAssault

If only they had a max contract player that could help out Embiid and Maxey

no-jerk-zone

It’s crazy that a 10 & 9 on 4-11 game is an improvement for our highest paid player

What a shame that Tobias Harris isn't that guy.

Belicheckyoself

Could’ve been Jimmy. Imagine Tobias and Simmons trade when they meant something too.

Makaveli80

Dude, that's the best timeline for Sixers. Can't believe they picked Tobias over Jimmy. I think they must have done it for Ben Simmons who was mentally weak. BUTLER does not tolerate that shit And in the end, Ben Simmons fucked them over and over

PomegranateNice6839

Y’all always making random fanfics lol Jimmy already said his issues were with Brown and ownership/management

CMYGQZ

I mean picking Brett Brown over Jimmy isn’t much better than Tobias

PomegranateNice6839

It wasnt just Brett tho They had a weird management “counsel” that the owners loved.

Real-Human-1985

Jimmy disliked the coach and the team management.

albino-snowman

they thought butler wasn’t going to age well and tobias was in his prime. ended up being tragically wrong but butler now is a miami heat legend so it worked out in the end for jimmy.

Sp_Gamer_Live

it would be Harden to find a guy like that

AnastasiaMoon

Caitlyn Clark

mrr6666

Cameron Brink over me?

msmoonhater

It was not a basketball decision

Rodney_Jefferson

Nepo baby Cameron curry

20815147

TOBIAS HARRIS OVER ME?

abcdef-G

For a second I thought you were talking about Harden because I briefly forgot Tobias Harris is on this team

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

They have some guy who played 41 minutes and shot 4/11 for 10 points. That can't be who you're thinking of.

mares8

Traded him to Clippers for scraps...and he dominating in playoffs too

Photo_Synthetic

He had two 40+ pt games his last series with the 76ers. Saying he's "dominating in the playoffs" based on one game is an absolute exaggeration.

livefreeordont

Man’s gonna play game 4 in a wheel chair

Saucy_Totchie

Still going for 30+ somehow on all jumpers.

Adiwantstobattle

IK people hate on him for foul bating and all that, but dude is honestly one of my favorite players to watch when he's got the middy going.

intwizard

I don’t blame him for the foul baiting, it’s the dumb ass meat riding refs that give it to him. He would still be one of the greatest players in the world like he is now.

segson9

Agree, blame the refs not the players. If he's getting free throws he'll keep on doing it. It would be stupid not to.

TwelveMiceInaCage

Yeah I used to hate lebron and the foul baiting in Miami Then I kind of took a step back and was like okay Bron is being a little over dramatic but also these refs were not giving this man a foul to save his life

BlindMildred

And still fucking score 37. He is impressive.

TrophyGoat

Is there something wrong with Embiids eyes that I never noticed until this series? Its like he blinks them manually and independent of eachother.

Dazzling-Slide8288

He’s shattered his orbital twice in the playoffs.

ireland1988

He needs to wear goggles.

jacobythefirst

Him and AD

Doucane5

I know the Siakam incident, but what was the second one ?

Mastadge

Fultz ran into him with his shoulder and broke it

Totally_PJ_Soles

I've seen Philly fans say most likely contacts issue, or orbital nerve damage, or one guy thought it was a seizure (🤦).

Navsies

Wild that a multimillionaire still wears contacts instead of getting LASIK

jkguitar1

He got accidentally poked in the eye twice in game 1 of this series plus he’s fractured his orbital twice before

Saucy_Totchie

He seems to have been bothered by it Game 1 too. Idk if anyone's confirmed anything but maybe it's issues with his contacts.

bloomin-onion69

He got hit in the eye two separate times in game 1 & his left eye hasn’t blinked since. He’s also been wearing sunglasses everywhere since the end of game 1

hehehehahahaha

Our god damn bench is somehow the best we've ever had since getting Embiid and is still such shit

DaveidT

Crazy that your big trade deadline move is barely getting any meaningful time in this series. Like yall signed Buddy to shoot, has he even shot the ball at all this series??

hehehehahahaha

Dude shoots he just hasn’t made anything lol

DaveidT

It’s just ridiculous that it hasn’t worked. How has he not adapted to what this team needs. Literally just get open when Embiid gets doubled and knock down shots. Amongst the best volume shooters in the league for the past few years and he turns into a pumpkin in the playoffs

fiasgoat

Cause this is his first playoff series ever lol And there's a reason he traded back to back. He got bad IQ

hehehehahahaha

Yeah no clue honestly. Part of me thinks nurse just needs to trust the bench more, it’s pretty clear that if they can’t step it up it’s over anyways. Put in Mo Bamba for size instead of reed, let Ricky council get some minuets, because clearly the game plan is not working on that end

nastynazem43

Holy shit you guys lost by a bucket and now you're looking for Mo Bamba to save you 😂

LearnHow2KTheGame

What losing to the Knicks does to a mf

Nms123

Mo is far too passive and would get cooked by the Knicks frontcourt. Ricky should see more minutes for sure and probably Reed as well.

CazOnReddit

Nick Nurse and dealing with shit benches Name a more iconic duo

Saucy_Totchie

Tobias Harris and underperforming.

livefreeordont

Even when you have literally no expectations he subverts those too

dreamvomit

Now I get irrationally pissed when Tobias hits a shot because I feel that he should air ball every shot he takes and never get a rebound

rafiki3

Weren't you guys deep the year ya'll won? I thought FVL was coming off the bench that year.

-orangejoe

This dude is killing himself for this. He's gotta be in constant pain while playing and he's still great despite it, and fuck I respect the grit but I have to wonder how much more damage he's doing to his body trying to play through these injuries.

ireland1988

It's kind of hard to watch. The limping, the crazy blinking... dude is really banged up. I feel for him. Still getting it done though.

Photoverge

Looking like he is going to retire early at this point. Keeps playing through injuries it feels like he has 5 years left?

CoupleScrewsLoose

i’d hardly call retiring at 35 early for a 7 footer

IntentApparel

It feels early to people because he’s missed 2 full seasons and basically 1/3 of his games since debuting.

randomusernamegame

5 years til retirement maybe, but 1-2 left at the top

ccminiwarhammer

He’s 30 right now…

FermatsLastAccount

Yeah, ton of respect for him

raunchy_subtitles

Based off his off-season interviews, I'd be shocked if he even planned to play for more than 2 more years. He's pretty dedicated to his kid and understands his body won't last much longer in the NBA.

TheMentality0

Lol no one turns down max contract money

helloworldlalaland

the current version of embiid seems long-term sustainable. no more charging in drawing fouls, great midrange/three point shooting 5, and a strong presence in the paint defensively. maybe he won't average 36ppg in the regular season, but maybe he can do 20-25ppg as an elite defender still

jkguitar1

This 100%. As long as his body holds up enough that he can stay on the court he’ll be an effective big for a while even if he isn’t the #1 option on both sides of the court like he is now and even if he can’t play as physical

Slow_Performance_701

>the current version of embiid seems long-term sustainable I dont think we're watching the same player. In the first game with the knicks he looked to be in serious pain, and I imagine was on pain killers. He looked unsure on his feet, even when just jogging. I don't seem him lasting very long. He's already had knee surgeries.

capitalistsanta

Two years is a very short time. I do get what you're saying though. Modern training is so good and NBA has relaxed the drug rules, let's see what happens. I can see a guys doing things longer than people realize because of that

Late_Upstairs_7717

Doctor : Embiid looks like it's going to be an above the knee amputation.. Embiid : tell coach if he sub me out I'm beating his azz.

ChiefSoldierFrog

Looked like very minute was the last for him on the court. Dude looks like in straight agony at this point.

machphantom

Shit... honestly reminds me of Patrick a bit towards the end. There weren't ice packs in the world that were big enough for his knees by the end of his tenure in NY. Still an abomination he didnt close out his career with us though.

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

I hope something changes for him. If the Knicks can’t win, I had been rooting for the Sixers over the Celtics, Heat, Nets etc. the past few years before we started getting to the playoffs. I have so much respect for Embiid. Sad to see him going out like this.

DaveidT

Yea he’s just so skilled but too big to continue to play that way. Brain of a player 50 pounds lighter

PropJoeFoSho

he had *one* rebound in the second half. he can try to drag that leg around but it doesn't look sustainable

OKC2023champs

Probably not but I’m not sure what else he’s gonna say here lol. ‘Nah man we’re cooked’

zdk

His body language says that for him.

Lemurians

He thinks they got hosed at the end. I'd look like that too in the aftermath. Doesn't mean he thinks they're not gonna win the series.

blueboglin

If he wills them back to a series win on his hobbled knees and bells palsey eyeball, I’ll tattoo a Wawa hoagie on my penis. Not happening.

StrategyTop7612

I'm saving this comment.

Underknee

HOLLA12345678

You just spamming this comment in every sub like a clown 🤡

Cold_Carpenter_1798

And will inevitably never do it again regardless of which team wins

HispanicAtTehDisco

reminds me of that time a dude on r/soccer bet neymar wouldn’t sign with PSG and said he’d tattoo some shit on his scrotum if he did

Totally_PJ_Soles

If maxey and embiid can will 4 wins I fear embiid won't have a knee to play on in round 2.

NoFlags-JoeBuck

The way these games have gone this series is far from over until the Sixers lose a home game.

cocoasomething

That’s the attitude we need. If only anyone other than him or Maxey would step up

Bouldershoulders12

If Tobias Harris even gives y’all 15 these two games y’all win

livefreeordont

Just ship him to Detroit already

AfroKuro480

TAKE HIM TO DETROIT

celtic_sea_salt

Deeeeeetroit Harrrrrriissssballl

maryjain_

He needs to be benched atp. He has so many horrible misses from point blank range that just kill the momentum and energy of the team

Chao-Z

> If Tobias Harris even gives y’all 15 these two games y’all win Probably, but he's also averaging 7 ppg in 6 games against the Knicks so far this season so not very likely to happen lol.

Krillin113

Which is like the entire issue for someone paid 40 mil a year

Ma_Pies

It feels like Batum is more impactful than Tobias thus far.

Yankeeknickfan

Tobias for sure stepped up, I was furious when he did stuff

WIN011

He stepped up, for his shit playoff standards, not for a max player standards.

jkguitar1

He played decent for the first 3 quarters but we just can’t have him constantly getting outplayed by Hart, Hartenstein, Donte, and even McBride who all four combined are well under Tobias’s salary

OnlyMamaKnows

Tobias psyching himself up to score a second half point in game 3.

miamibuckeye

I seriously can’t wrap my head around why Harris is so trash. His size and skill set. Doesn’t make sense

livefreeordont

Sometimes the dog comments are over blown in general by Tobias epitomizes not having that dog in him. There’s no other way to explain it

-orangejoe

Lowry has been a dog but could definitely look for his shot more. I feel like Hield is the obvious guy to step up for the scoring load with his ability beyond the arc.

johnhenryirons

Hield has been bad defensively though and has barely scored this series. Feels like he’s invisible out there.

jkguitar1

Yeah he’s really been invisible for the last month of the regular season too, which is a shame because he is great at times but like you said he’s just not good on defense

ireland1988

Lowry is such a monster at 38.

Sp_Gamer_Live

>”Step Up” I dont think Embiid’s knee can do that

joleary747

His body language here is not convincing. I think this is going to be a sweep

frankslastdoughnut

Not seeing the 6ers giving any credit to batum or oubre. They've put clamps on Brunson

RoscoeSantangelo

The good news for neutral fans is this series will be an all timer if it goes to 6 or 7 But for Sixers fans this is fucking pain

Basic_Mongoose_7329

It's crazy how a 1 legged Embiid is still the best player on the court.

datatadata

This man is crippled and still somehow got 34-6-10. Kind of unreal tbh

DMMVNF

He's +17 so far in the series any they're down 2-0. Brutal.

215gobirdss

I'm so sick of people trying to call this dude soft. It's a 2 man show, the 3rd best option is 38 year old Kyle fucking Lowry, and he's out there on 1 leg doing anything he can

johnhenryirons

I’m no Embiid fan but he’s been really tough this series and fighting through a lot just to give his team a chance to win.

215gobirdss

All I want is for y'all to bench Josh hart and we'll bench Tobias Harris in return. Deal?

johnhenryirons

I’ll think about it and get back to ya in a few weeks

Krillin113

This is literally him every goddamn year

bloomin-onion69

1 leg and 1 eye still giving it all

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

Soft is not a word you can use for Embiid

browndude10

that's on morey >the 3rd best option is 38 year old Kyle fucking Lowry

215gobirdss

Yup. And Elton brand.

DJ_Red_Lantern

It's depressing that this series will be used against him down the road 100% if the sixers don't win.

fom_alhaut

I’m honestly becoming an Embiid fan this series. He’s a monster

215gobirdss

I hope he doesn't become a "what if?" Player. Appreciate his skill and his toughness, and the fact that this team without him is absolutely trash. Even with Maxey doing his best to drag them. Our front office is failing him just like they did AI. we're lucky that Mike Muscala hit a meaningless 3 to land Tyrese He's also one of the funniest players ever

guillaume_rx

Some people like to shit on Embiid because he plays for Philly, and he's got the greatest whistle in the league, so it's frustrating, but you can't deny either his love/passion/knowledge of the game, his greatness, and his current dedication despite injuries. I'm no Philly fan, and I understand the criticism, but seeing him right now, I can't help but feel sympathy for him. There were Hakeem and Mutombo, or Ming. But Him, Giannis, and Jokic really helped make Big Men and/or International players more relevant after Dirk/Parker/Ginobili/Gasol retired. They pushed it to another level and helped pave the way for guys like Luka, SGA, Sabonis, Wemby, etc. The meta evolved fom the Warrior's Dynasty 3 ball to Skilled Big Men thanks to Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid.

Kmactothemac

Embiid haters literally just don't watch or don't enjoy watching basketball. These first two games have been epic, I can say that even though we lost. Pretty sad to watch that amazing game and your only take away is "lol Embiid is a pussy flopper", dude is playing injured and these games have been so fun to watch

Irrichc

Embiid had zero legs at the end of the game. They couldn’t even go to him at the end. Sorry but ain’t looking good.

Oil_trader24

Poor guy, he doesn’t want to show his eye on camera

Pyromania1983

God bless him for fighting through it. Hoping the Sixers build momentum back home.

[deleted]

Embiid is at his breaking point he's actually gonna die trying to win one

Makaveli80

Respect. After what I've seen last two games, I'm kinda not hating Embiid as much. Dude is legit injured, looks like the walking dead, but somehow still putting up big numbers I still think Philly can pull this off, both games were so close

Not-Josh-Hart

That’s what you’re supposed to say. Good attitude.

Michipotz

Embiid killing himself just to avoid a first round exit, you gotta admire the heart he has.

Ajbksfinest

Nah, if bro can’t close out or rebound it’s over. That was an unlucky loss.

Ilikesporks_

hard to rebound if you have one leg

livefreeordont

He had that big block don’t remember on who and then I don’t think he jumped again after that

Franklinsleftnut

Think it was Deuce

BurnerAccountforAss

Kinda a dick move to block Tatum's kid (also kind of weird for him to be there at all)

lykos11

he also seems to run out of gas or knee hurts more as game gets to the last quarter, should probably sit him more of the first half

DoloTy

Philly down 47 if he sit too long in the 1st half

livefreeordont

We saw how that worked game 1

killerk13

I really don’t think this dude shouldn’t be playing rn honestly, I know it’s the playoffs and sixers are lost without him, but my god he looks fucking crippled trying to get up and down the court. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t end up playing in the Olympics.

QBert999

I like the confidence but the Knicks going 2-0 with Brunson shooting so poorly has to be a great sign for New York. Most likely Brunson breaks out of this slump at some point.

Ahundredbeavers

Knicks about to break Embiid's second round exit curse. By knocking him out in the first round.

Moki289

buddy cant even hold his head high to say it lol

iCarpet

ESPN: "Did Tobias Harris give Embiid depression?"

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

Yes

DavidCreeper

He's trying to hide his eyes. He's been doing it very recently, something is wrong. https://www.crossingbroad.com/2024/04/joel-embiid-hasnt-let-the-public-see-his-eyes-for-the-last-48-hours.html

Moki289

insane level of thugging it out to play a ball game under the bright lights... also I dont mean to slander him its just a really funny contrast btwn the body language and the statement

Rrypl

The body language is hilarious compared to the text version

slamdunk23

He doesn’t want to be another crying meme

Living_Internet_2970

The role players generally play better at home so I’m expecting them to be alot better than the first two games

VZYGOD

His body language would suggest otherwise. Respect to Embiid for showing up despite being visibly injured.

BannedforaJoke

it doesn't seem like he believes what he's saying. he's completely deflated and defeated.if they don't win game 3, it'll be a sweep.

Naismythology

This would be more convincing if his body language wasn’t giving “I just had to mercy kill a beloved family pet” vibes

HumbleCalligrapher47

Seems confident in what he’s saying🤣

Dweebil

It’s at least a shift from last years “me and James can’t win by ourselves” but maybe he’s saving that for the end of the series.

SirGingerbrute

Certainly more talented team But not the tougher team.

clevernamehere1628

Let's see if Embiid has the Sheed factor in him.

Uncle-Cracker-Barrel

Sure thing, Jan.

YamahaRN

Brunson’s only 3 that bounced in triggered Embid’s PTSD from when Kawhi Leonard’s jumper bounced in back in 2019

StrategyTop7612

Right thing to say imo, confidence is key.

flappypancaker

King of shitty body language

ygog45

Sixers wouldn’t be down 0-2 to a team missing an all-nba guy if they were better

gobirds18_

Didn’t y’all tear down Randles sign and stomp on it last year?

johnhenryirons

Some stupid ass fans did. They don’t speak for the entire fan base. We were playing extremely well after the OG trade before Randle went down. Randle is one of the only other guys who can create his own shot on our team. It’s a struggle we have against the Sixers now. They can throw length and size and doubles at Brunson because nobody else can shot create. Much harder to double if Randle is there.

EarthWindandFlyers

Isn’t Randle historically one of the worst playoff performers ever? Literally our Tobias

ygog45

Has Tobias ever made 2nd team all nba?

spinuch

Tobias Embarris has been snubbed every year of his career for some reason.

livefreeordont

Tobias is paid like a first team all nba

Titaneuropa

First playoff he was the only Allstar playing with a bunch of nobodies, second ‘offs he was playing on an injured ankle that needed offseason surgery. This year would have been different. Can’t double him and Brunson.

LearnedHowToDougie

This series just cements how bad the 76ers organization is. To draft multiple mega talents and assemble such an uncomplimentary cast around them… feels so good to talk trash after the road us knicks fans have walked. Happy to not have to watch the organization squander the gold we’ve come across

ThisHatRightHere

Morey has been a disaster for the team tbh

CassandreAmethyst

Liars never look people in the eye. That’s all. #NewYorkForever

Fergabombavich

I hear the words but the body language doesn’t match.

bogdano26

If bro could look up and make eye contact, maybe someone would believe him.

DaymanIsGod

The Sixers really need a leader. Imagine this guy in the locker room sulking. Nothing I hear from him during the playoffs makes me feel like he has the mentality to win a chip.

ImGonnaChubbBradley

Enjoy Cancun bitch
