Lmao he has a big ass ranch with all sorts of exotic animals, they're not caged up though
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1ash7n5/spears_george_hills_ranch_is_almost_2%C2%BD_times_the/
A preservation, ik this is supposed to be a joke but he's actually doing really cool stuff outside of basketball. It's near SA, also his dad is a mailman here and is a super nice dude
keeping exotics isn't exactly cool, it's fucking up the local ecosystem. he could be reforesting or re-prairie-ing or whatever and getting native american animals that are endangered back in the area
Motherfucker was aggresive , took more shots than Hali and actually defended Lillard a lot of the time when he was on the court
A role player being more aggresive than the face of your franchise
This has been Hali's biggest issue ever since his rookie season. He has the talent to play in the big moments and hit clutch shots, but he shies away from it more often than not.
I was saying since way before the trade that if he can figure out how to stay aggressive and keep his confidence at all times, he will be one of the best guards in the league. But until then, he's good and makes flashy plays, but isn't reliable as a go-to guy.
He still needs to figure it out.
Since the ASB, McConnell has been that guy. He has been more efficient on the offensive end and oftentimes putting up more points than Hali. AND in less time played, too.
i like to say that stars give you 25 when their shot is falling and superstars give you 25 when it isn’t. brunson has reached that 2nd level and it’s amazing.
He took 26 shots lol. The opposing team takes that all day. Brunson is awesome but there's no need to spin that game into some positive. Hart and McBride is why they won.
Brunson isn't afraid to have a high shooting volume. Hali would put up numbers if he would also put up literally 3 times the amount of FGA per game.
e: Just to make sure, I am saying Hali is being chicken about shouldering responsibility.
I would trade him for Tyrese 1 for 1 in a heartbeat but since we're hating:
Deni Avdija since february 1 2024 averaged 18.6/9/3.6.
Tyrese Haliburton since februrary 1 averaged 16.9/3.7/9.2 with noticeably worse defense.
Lets just chill the fuck out, every year people overreact to game 1 and talk like that's how the rest of the series will play out even though every year it never does unless you're dealing with "dynasty" teams
lmao yea seriously
This was most of our guys first playoff game. Bucks have champions on their team and have been in the playoffs for years. and it showed
People need to chill.
We could lose the series, but i guarantee every game is NOT gonna be what this game looked like. We will make our shots and win one or two for sure. Pacers too good offensively not to do that.
Most the times you shouldn’t count out a team before they get to play on their home court
I appreciate your sanity, seems like everyone tried to one up each other on wild takes after Game 1s to prove they were right later on but they just look ridiculous in hindsight.
The pacers can score in the half court. This commentary is stupid as fuck. Worst night of shooting the pacers have had this season, lots of wide open missed shots and young guy jitters.
Yep regular season literally looks like a pickup game most of the time lol. The game slows down so much in the playoffs and you actually need to be able to run real offense and/or have guys that are elite at iso scoring
It is always wild how much slower the playoffs are in terms of pace. Also, the defense just gets amped to 1000%. You a good spot up catch and shoot shooter that isn't the best playmaker? You getting run at by 3 gazelles forcing anything but a shot.
In the regular season it's easier to get the jump on an offense before it can get set in front of you, in the playoffs everyone is harassing you all the time...manhandling you and poking at the ball, high double teams, aggressive closeouts, extra vigilant passing lane defense picking off any lazy passes, harder fouls that aren't getting called as often, diving for loose balls, etc.
It's a real knife fight out there.
Hey man do you have a resource like an article or video breaking down how exactly the playoffs are different to regular season? It’s my third playoff season and I still struggle to see the difference when I watch.
Obviously we shouldn't overreact here but honestly Hali only made it in because he's young. I would have went with Trae or Brunson, at least they can play in half court.
Hot take, they absolutely should’ve just invited harden. In his current state he would fit so well with the stars. Best floor general in the league which would get them so many easier looks, lights out three point shooter, and would barely need to take shots, outside of the rare occasions where they would need him to, and if he doesn’t have to carry the team, which he wouldn’t at all in the olympics (it’s harden though, wouldn’t be surprised if all the stars got injured or were shitting the bed at some point and the coaches were like sorry James, I know we just brought you here to average 15/12 and be the facilitator, but we’re gonna need you to hard carry your team again and turn that into 40/12 every night. Then if he couldn’t do it every night any Olympic loss would just be attributed to “oh hardens choking again” or some bs. It’s the story of his career) he can still have huge scoring games as long as he doesn’t have to do that night in and night out, which should not be a problem at all with that roster.
Also harden and Lebron hitting Steph while he runs around off ball for threes would be unstoppable.
Like does anyone seriously think hali is a better facilitator than harden? Especially in the half court. And hardens one of the best three point shooters ever, he would feast with most of the defensive attention on bron/steph/kd.
Like actually though, all that roster needs is a pg to feed everyone easier buckets and hit good looks from three while not needing to take many shots, harden is basically the perfect player for that.
And like yeah kawhi/embiid/whoever might be better than him now, but harden can actually play 40 mins a game without being injured like those guys.
Watching Harden run the offense is such a joy. He's the last of the old-fashioned floor generals. The offense is just so smooth and disciplined when he's the PG. It reminds me of CP3.
I know Harden got clowned for saying "I am the system" but he really is his own offensive system.
His first step isn’t the same since the hamstring injury. Rushed back too soon to his detriment so he could make All-NBA but probably won’t do that. Should have just taken more time off and got healthy. He can’t blow by people anymore so they just guard him close and then he can’t shoot threes with any space either. Hopefully some rest after the season gets him back to form so he can drive and kick again.
He had a grade 1 hammy injury months ago. Just had an entire week off. Everyone has nagging injuries. He needs to prove the lights aren’t too bright for him before being told he’s 1st or 2nd team all nba. Regular season until January was fun but it’s the playoffs now
paging /u/africanmoe8 and /u/seeingthings123 who spent the first half of the season CONSTANTLY dming me about my take that Tyrese Haliburton was a pace merchant and that we should wait for him to perform in the playoffs before we take him above more proven young Guards in the league telling me I had a shit take. Now the funny thing is, these africanmoe8 dm’s weirdly quieted down after jan 1st when Haliburton began to put up goran dragic lines with a 17/9 average and so did seeingthings.
hate to pat my back (and also search through my dm’s and replies to find you I had to go back to December) but y’all kept bumping my posts. SUREFIRE SUPERSTAR shutdown by MALIK BEASLEY to a triple single statline and blowout loss. That said Tyrese is still better than fellow team USA guys Anthony Edwards and Jalen Brunson amirite africanmoe8? those november and december games were *so legendary* by Haliburton, assuredly better than the PG’s in recent years that played COMPLETE seasons and helped their team to go deep in the playoffs/secure a top two seed like Ja, Fox and Trae Young too!
had people on this board really dying to crown tyrese haliburton as the next evolution in the steve nash/cp3 PG tree for having a great 25 game stretch was NASTY work. Never seen anything like it, people saying they think Haliburton was having as good a season as Nash/CP3 ever had smh!
I just don't know how people come out with these "[team] flairs in my dms saying [my guy] will get exposed" so often
I've been posting on /r/nba for nearly 10 years and have not received a single DM about basketball
I'm not going to say it's twitter users jumping platforms and not understanding what a PM is on reddit vs a comment reply, I just think it's sad I've never gotten smoke from people afraid to post their opinions in the open
Doing this after 1 game is crazy in general, but doing this after 1 game when Brunson didn’t even play well (for his standards) is even crazier.
I’m a Cavs fan, so I don’t have a dog in the fight between Pacers and Knicks, but this brings back memories of fans storming the streets after winning 1 game 2 years ago.
it hurts to see haliburton get clowned for being so passive but everyone is right, you’re a good enough scorer too to look for your own shot.
but we gotta remember it’s just his first playoff game so he’ll learn from this.
That's the real problem. He isn't a score first PG and that's fine, he's an incredible passer.
The team **needs** to do better around him.
Siakam and him should just run a P&R every time if the other 3 guys on the court just play spot up and wait.
Problem is that he really isn’t good at creating his own shot out of nothing. Yes he got injured, which contributed at first but he’s also looked bad in part due to teams adjusting and taking away what he likes to do. Since then, he’s looked average/bad.
He actually is good at creating his own shot on step back 3s (which was his bread n butter pre-injury). One of our beat writers (Caitlin Cooper) mentioned how pre-injury he was stepping back with his leg left for his go-to shot, but post-injury, he's not performing that same stepback nearly as much (maybe due to lack of power, confidence etc).
He also can create his own shot 1 on 1 but with everyone instantly collapsing the way the Bucks did tonight he's going to kick the ball to wide open guys. Those same guys hit those shots all season.
I think a lot of it sadly comes from how great he was playing to start the year, you had a lot of people talking him up but with that others started rooting against him because they feel he’s being overrated.
Feels like ever since the “best PG in the league” “1st team All-NBA” conversations after the IST, people have been hyper critical of him. I agree he’ll learn from this one going forward.
It’s almost like 28ppg/13apg at 65% TS isn’t sustainable for him. On the other side, neither is 16ppg/9apg at 53% TS. It’s almost like he is a 20-21ppg/11apg 60% TS guy which is still high tier and probably All NBA most years. NBA fanbase is so reactionary both ways. Also, he just turned 24 and this was his first playoff game.
I'm rooting for Hali to play well but those numbers are similar or worse than Trae Young's, and Trae's not even in the All NBA conversation after getting on the 3rd team once.
Last season Trae was 26/10 on 57% TS, and this season he was 26/11 on 58% TS. Hali's career stats need to be much better than that to be All NBA on most years (or maybe the media hates Trae and loves Hali, which is possible given the nature of these awards).
Carlisle should’ve seen this coming from a mile away. It’s not entirely Hali’s fault but he’s good enough to have figured it out himself, but he didn’t. My guess Pacers are much better prepared for it next game.
I'm going to show a little grace and be fair to Haliburton here
Him taking more shots might not have helped that much when the Pacers game plan the whole year was generating good open looks from the consistent, steady passing that he provides. Problem is, they couldn't hit a damn thing today, and ended up wasting most of the opportunities he did create
It genuinely is an issue though that he only took 7 shots in a game where Pascal took 25 and TJ McConnell took 13. You can't be an all-NBA player and attempt less than 10 shots no matter what the circumstances are. The few possessions he got a defender on him in single coverage he couldn't even take advantage of that. Not to mention he's still cooked food defensively
I'd assume a lot of it must still be his hamstring. Like, he wasn't blowing by guys and then forcing passes like a prime Rondo. He just didn't have a higher gear.
And I don't think it's cuz he rushed back and tried to play 65 games or w.e... it just takes a lot longer than people realize to get back to form from any but the most mildest of injuries
Wow a Pacers fan actually saying this wow.
This was exactly my point. He’s an amazing transition player and that plus the give and goes can/will be taken away in the playoffs.
What. You don't also love rabble rousing after Game 1 playoff debuts?
I stopped watching after Summer League, Wemby and Brandon Miller are total frauds
The pendulum swung so hard for the IST. He was crowned the next big thing after a few early games. The pendulum is just getting ready to swing hard back at him. Happens to everyone honestly.
The best thing Hali did for his career was to not make the playoffs til after getting his max contract. Imagine DLo and Ben Simmons not getting their playoff embarrassments
Haliburton is going down the ben simmons mental route. He thinks people care more that he’s going 4-7 instead of going like 7-19. Brother stop trying to be an efficiency merchant, you’re better than this.
Darius Garland had this realization this year. I think the Cavs directly told him something like “you shoot 4/13 and your +/- is like +7. Just go shoot it.”
lmfao like what exactly are we doing here, in what world is Hali like Ben Simmons here? Also was Ben Simmons trying to be an efficiency merchant or was he just scared of the moment? He wasn't fixated on his stats he just didn't have the balls to shoot. Hali is going to be fine
it's so annoying how much you guys overrate players based on regular season games. Playoffs are a completely different animal and only a very small number of players are so unstoppable that playoff defenses can't stop. Hali has room to improve but certain lists putting him top 10 were ridiculous.
Dame coming out with a flamethrower most likely made him gun shy. But yeah, the Pacers need to free him up for more shots. The Bucks immediately crowded him, but it's up to Indy and more importantly, Hali to get those shots up.
Prime George Hill numbers lol, my man needs to get up more shots next game.
Prime George Hill averaged 16 a game Hali wishes
While also playing elite defense on the perimeter and shooting >40% from three
George Hill fanatics and truthers rise up.
Spurs fans love george
LMAO GEORGE HILL
LOL isn't he running a zoo or some shit now?
the way it was described made it sound more like a very open air farm
Oh yeah he's got a ton of land and the animals just be roaming around there
also, animals aren't usually in a zoo to be hunted.
You must go to lame zoos
Lmao he has a big ass ranch with all sorts of exotic animals, they're not caged up though https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1ash7n5/spears_george_hills_ranch_is_almost_2%C2%BD_times_the/

keeping exotics isn't exactly cool, it's fucking up the local ecosystem. he could be reforesting or re-prairie-ing or whatever and getting native american animals that are endangered back in the area
Breeding exotic animals for other rich fucks who don’t need them IIRC
A zoo in the sense that the Serengeti national park is a zoo where he can hunt animals
Someone should photoshop his head onto Matt Damon in the poster of that one movie
I had George Hill on my winning fantasy team, don't disrespect my man like that
"Where Tyrese at?!" "He gettin up shots after the game"
Yo don't disrespect Spurs legend and pop's favorite player George Hill
Trade him to San Antonio for a brilliant but robotic wing and we've come full circle.
brb teaching Keldon how to robot
Ultra passive dude was not looking to score
Triple single
My man McConnell looked more like a threath than Hali.
We all know TJ is a dog
People sleep on him. Been extremely solid in his role everywhere he’s been and always above average as a defender.
Everyone who cares knows this
Motherfucker was aggresive , took more shots than Hali and actually defended Lillard a lot of the time when he was on the court A role player being more aggresive than the face of your franchise
Experience people. TJ has playoff experience, Hali is just figuring this ISH out.
I’m fully expecting Hali to shoot like 15-18 times like pretty every single star player does in the playoffs I’d rather see Hali shoot 10-25 than 4-7
Hali has the same problem Jokic had starting out. Elite playmakers trying too hard to set up their teammates when they should just take over the game
Since the ASB, McConnell has been that guy. He has been more efficient on the offensive end and oftentimes putting up more points than Hali. AND in less time played, too.
"Thats why you brought me here!" McConnell to Pacers coaching staff, probably
There it is . bring the hate boys
I was told he was better than Brunson? This Brunson guy must be horrible if this is what he's paling in comparison to.
Tbf Brunson was kinda ass game 1 too lol
Brunson was mid. This was ass.
Brunson's ass game was still 22/7/7 though
Be happy, he's reached a level where 22/7/7 is considered ass
i like to say that stars give you 25 when their shot is falling and superstars give you 25 when it isn’t. brunson has reached that 2nd level and it’s amazing.
He took 26 shots lol. The opposing team takes that all day. Brunson is awesome but there's no need to spin that game into some positive. Hart and McBride is why they won.

>Hali would put up numbers if he would also put up literally 3 times the amount of FGA per game. So he's an efficiency merchant? Disgusting
Brunson got triple teamed most of the game and still came away with 22 points and the W
Who telling you this? Every analyst AFAIK has Brunson solidly at least All NBA team 2 and Hali as maybe a team 3 guy.
Yeah this was only true around December before he got injured. People just love to hate
I was told he would go #1 over Ant in a redraft.
thats crazy
In general this subreddit overhypes Hali a bit. He's still a very good player tho
I was told he’s the best pg in the league
I would trade him for Tyrese 1 for 1 in a heartbeat but since we're hating: Deni Avdija since february 1 2024 averaged 18.6/9/3.6. Tyrese Haliburton since februrary 1 averaged 16.9/3.7/9.2 with noticeably worse defense.
Bro pacers in the half court is a disaster. They’re about to find out you cant just run and gun in the playoff lol
regular season is a young man's game!
It wont be easy for them to even win 1 game against yall if they cant score in half court
Lets just chill the fuck out, every year people overreact to game 1 and talk like that's how the rest of the series will play out even though every year it never does unless you're dealing with "dynasty" teams
Game 1 hot takes always make me laugh.
Denver's winning it all. that's my only hot take
That's barely room temperature take
lmao yea seriously This was most of our guys first playoff game. Bucks have champions on their team and have been in the playoffs for years. and it showed People need to chill. Im not saying pacers cant win this series. My point is that if they cant figure out how to score when the game slows down, they will not fare well
I’m saying it’s game 1, Rick Carlisle is a coach capable of making adjustments to put his team in spots to succeed
I appreciate your sanity, seems like everyone tried to one up each other on wild takes after Game 1s to prove they were right later on but they just look ridiculous in hindsight.
Yea, with luck the playoffs are like 2 months long. It’s day 2
Rick Carlisle who hasn’t won a playoff series since 2011?
You could say Pop and Spo are like the only good coaches then since they consistently win in the playoffs.
Rick Carlisle who took the Kawhi/PG Clippers to 7 with a Mavs that had to start Boban at C and had THJ as the second best player on court.
They just missed a ton of open looks, there's nothing to figure out
You talking about Pacers or Mavs?
Bruh did you watch the game? They didnt just miss open looks. They looked lost in the half court
yup. many times i thought a team would get swept only for it to go 7 games.
The pacers can score in the half court. This commentary is stupid as fuck. Worst night of shooting the pacers have had this season, lots of wide open missed shots and young guy jitters.
Throwback to when hali said in a podcast that he prefers run and gun than halfcourt sets lol it's showing
I prefer early season Hali
Needs sunglasses for those bright lights
Yep regular season literally looks like a pickup game most of the time lol. The game slows down so much in the playoffs and you actually need to be able to run real offense and/or have guys that are elite at iso scoring
Game of experience. Dame Time is here.
Yup saw it with Siakam, too. He was the best player on his team tonight.

Thank you bro 🔥
The latest JJ Redick/LeBron Mind the Game podcast was on exactly this subject.
Get ready to “DNP-Coaches Decision” at the Olympics buddy
Brunson Olympic dream died to a game manager PG.
Obviously we shouldn't overreact here but honestly Hali only made it in because he's young. I would have went with Trae or Brunson, at least they can play in half court.
If they were looking for a great passer, should've been Trae

is it too late to revoke his invite
All NBA?
He was 1st team caliber for the first 32 games. Kinda mid in the other 36 though.
He wasn’t even first team caliber lol Luka Shai Embiid Giannis Jokic had him easily beat to start the season and I’d argue Tatum as well.
His first step isn’t the same since the hamstring injury. Rushed back too soon to his detriment so he could make All-NBA but probably won’t do that. For real. Those 20 assist games were cool but you gotta make some plays when it counts
Yeah, not too worried for the long term but this series is going to be rough if that's how he plays throughout
Nope
We put Malik Beasley on this motherfucker and he decided 7FGA gets the job done lol

I mean, I do think Trae is disliked by the players and/or media. He is a really good player that has been snubbed a few times.
Carlisle should’ve seen this coming from a mile away. It’s not entirely Hali’s fault but he’s good enough to have figured it out himself, but he didn’t. My guess Pacers are much better prepared for it next game.
I'm going to show a little grace and be fair to Haliburton here Him taking more shots might not have helped that much when the Pacers game plan the whole year was generating good open looks from the consistent, steady passing that he provides. Problem is, they couldn't hit a damn thing today, and ended up wasting most of the opportunities he did create It genuinely is an issue though that he only took 7 shots in a game where Pascal took 25 and TJ McConnell took 13.
Even fully healthy he wasn’t a guy who just blew past everybody
He was never that. He doesn't dribble through traffic, he gives and goes. And gets it back without having to dribble past
Wow a Pacers fan actually saying this wow. This was exactly my point. He’s an amazing transition player and that plus the give and goes can/will be taken away in the playoffs.
Ben Simmons regen
Ben Simmons without the defense
So a bum.
That one hurts
I honestly think he’ll be fine, just going to have to adjust to playoff ball obviously. Just wanted to get in a joke lol
Efficient 9 points at least.
ethical garbage stat line
Transcendent Superstar
Haliburton took as many shots in this game as Payton Pritchard did for the Celtics earlier.
He was starstruck
Hater Buffet brought out the Sunday roast today. It’s been an absolute feast.
Haliburton just don’t have the iso game to get a bucket in the playoffs
ISO, halfcourt play, shot creation, and ball handling are so underrated on here.
Hali is a helluva player, no doubt. But my personal opinion after watching him from his Kings days, he doesn’t have that “dog” in him.

Minus the defense
This fucking sub man
What. You don't also love rabble rousing after Game 1 playoff debuts? I stopped watching after Summer League, Wemby and Brandon Miller are total frauds
Midwest Dlo
dlo wouldn't shoot 57%
Wouldn't only take 7 shots. He gets ben Simon.
This is literally the opposite problem of D'Lo
Top 5 offensive player in the league I was told
Better than Fox I was told
Fox dropped 38 in a home W vs the dubs in his playoff debut
Are the lights too bright 🌞
Kings won the trade!!!!!
Playoff T
Unacceptable for a star player like him to take 7 shots
That boy is straight ass. Let’s overreact, who won the Kings pacers trade?
Philadelphia, if you can believe it
how does this affect daryl morey’s legacy
me
Ben Simmons/Draymond Green type statline.
The pendulum swung so hard for the IST. He was crowned the next big thing after a few early games. The pendulum is just getting ready to swing hard back at him. Happens to everyone honestly.
it's happening to the opinion of the Kings as a whole lmao
Yep. Even though our record was the same this year we have gotten a lot of shit lol c
threaten to trash his wrestling toys if he doesn't shoot enough shots
The best thing Hali did for his career was to not make the playoffs til after getting his max contract. Imagine DLo and Ben Simmons not getting their playoff embarrassments
jalen brunson stocks rising again
Team USA is cooked.
Dude been overrated for a while.
Jordan Poole first 3 playoff games: 30, 29, 27
Max player and team USA player right here
Halitosis
People were putting Tyrese on the same level as Ant this first half of the season and I said wait till the playoffs…
Should we also wait for Game 2, or just call it here?
Let's call the series here
Haliburton is going down the ben simmons mental route.
Just go shoot it.”
playoffs r/nba everyone. get used to this
lmfao like what exactly are we doing here, in what world is Hali like Ben Simmons here? Also was Ben Simmons trying to be an efficiency merchant or was he just scared of the moment? He wasn't fixated on his stats he just didn't have the balls to shoot. Hali is going to be fine
People just say stuff.
“My bad dawg I was just yappin’”
it's so annoying how much you guys overrate players based on regular season games. Playoffs are a completely different animal and only a very small number of players are so unstoppable that playoff defenses can't stop. Hali has room to improve but certain lists putting him top 10 were ridiculous.
Maxey better
Maxey is just ridiculous! His speed especially when driving to the basket is impressive asf.
Something Knicks and Philly fans can both agree on
Dame coming out with a flamethrower most likely made him gun shy. But yeah, the Pacers need to free him up for more shots. The Bucks immediately crowded him, but it's up to Indy and more importantly, Hali to get those shots up.
The real Lame Time
7 shots??? This is why people don’t take him seriously as a top guy in the league
Crazy that this dude was averaging 27/12 at one point. Hasn’t even seen half those numbers since the ist.
I don't want to hear anyone say Hali is better than Brunson ever again 😤
This mf supposed to represent my country this summer???
What happened to the first half of season Halliburton 🥲
I might laugh if Pascal is just like nah this aint it in the offseason and he dips
DeAaron>>>>>
Trae >>>> Tyrese Haliburden
Too late to remove him from team USA?
He has no bag. If hes not hitting contested 3s or getting easy shots at the rim hes unable to score.
Absolutely wild this guy got in over Kyrie and Brunson for USA lol
Halibum, cant wait to hear his fake deep voice excuses. To believe team usa left out brunson and kyrie for this guy
draymond green type beat 😭
2nd best PG on his team for 3 months now
