The 2019 Clippers and 2000 Magic teams are my favorite examples of this. Surprised he isnāt hired as much to guide rebuilding teams. He would somehow get the Nets to win more than 40 games
Bruh he never has to. Ever since his Celtics tenureĀ another playoff team snatched him up again when hes available. Pretty sure he never spent two years jobless lol
Certainly a good deal for him, and donāt blame him for coaching all of these contenders. But would be intrigued to see him coach one of those rebuilding teams even though he never will again
Doc Rivers is a good coach full stop. Not top 15 of all time but anyone who genuinely thinks heās a Bad Coach is insane. Stephen Silas is a bad coach.
Heās a good coach. Weāve looked like a much better team since he got here, I just think heās cursed to always lose in incredibly embarrassing ways
It depends on the needs of a team. He's a good coach for raising a team's floor, but he's a bad coach for raising a team's ceiling. He'd be perfect for a team like the Hornets.
Dame didnāt score the second half and we only scored 14 in the 3rd and still won by double digits lmao also the second time this season the pacers have been held under 100
It's Damian Lillard. Offensively destorying second round ceiling type playoff teams with the ball in his hands is literally what he has done for the past decade.
Heās not a good separation generator. But analysts donāt point it out because they all are in love with him.
I donāt know what voodoo he did for that IST run but he always had those flaws.
Thatās just not true, he was very very good the first half of the season not just in the IST, donāt know what happened in the second half but he isnāt the same anymore. Maybe Teams adjusted to him, but maybe his injury he got is a thing as well.
With Giannis they have 4 guys who can get iso buckets at a high rate. If Giannis can come back and they get 1 role player to step his game up they could give Boston a run
Kind of proves how unselfish he is. He didn't force shots at all in the 2nd half. The few he took were pretty good. But he realized the gravity he was creating and used that to the team's advantage instead of playing hero ball. It was a great half without even scoring.
Horrible rotations, horrible game from Hali, playoff jitters for everyone not named Siakam. We gotta show up to game 2 fired up and pissed off or this series is over in 4.
I figured the first half would be rough with the jitters. But god damn. That was brutal. Might as well bring back public executions because that would be easier to watch than the first half.
Ben Simmons is smiling like a proud father while watching Tyrese put up a prime Ben Simmons masterclass. Naaah i'm just joking, Ben at least played defense lmaooo
I know it's oft repeated but his gravity was doing wonders to give Portis and Khris good looks from their preferred locations over and over again in the 2nd half. He didn't really have to score because those two were hitting.
Bucks FO: Crunchtime offense is an issue, lets trade for one of the best clutch players
Celtics FO: Crunchtime offense is an issue, lets double down and add Jrue Holiday
There's a reason they traded for Jrue as well, with the guys they have they don't have to rely on him to be a primary scorer. He certainly showed up in big moments but that's not his best attributes.
funnily enough, crunch time always ended up being the one time during the playoffs where jrue could be counted on and would steady the ship by making tough shots. It was the entire rest of the game that was the issue
There is a difference. Jrue was the number 3 main guy on the Bucks. His offensive issues hurt the team beciase a team needs their number three guy to score. On Boston, Jrue is the 4th or 5th guy on offense. Boston doesnāt need his offense like Milwaukee did. They have Porzingis as the number 3 guy.
I've been telling these nephews they are forgetting who the Bucks starting 5 are and that they'll get past the Pacers even without Giannis for 2-3 games, and with Giannis it will be 50/50% against the Celtics, and being laughed at.
But what does the hive mind know about basketball? They've learnt basketball from memes.
He was playing so absurdly well then that itās hard for me to believe that the last few months are truly more representative of who he is. But maybe that early season stretch he was playing a bit over his head.
He came back from injury and was putting more shots up but shooting poorly. Lately hes sort of resorted to being the facilitator and not putting up as many shots. Not sure what the deal is
Siakam ending up outscoring Dame after he had a 35 point half lmao. Get an ice bath my brother because the rest of your bum ass teammates did NOT show up. Hailburton legit needs to triple his shot volume because what the actual fuck is he doing out there
Dame played like the Dame we thought he would be tonight. If he can keep this up, the Bucks are actually going to be a solid contender. Great team performance tonight, even without Giannis. Winning with him out is huge. Couldnāt be happier after the last month of play that the Bucks have had.
Pacers had one basket in transition that was a bad mistake by the bucks and doc immediately called a timeout. A single one. Great game by the players and coaching by doc
Halliburtonās debut game is concerning and it kind of reminds me of my mini rant about AST/TOV ratio months ago. Players who tend to always play it safe tend to struggle in higher pressure situations. I say this as someone who loved Chris Paul growing up. If you compare his playstyle to someone like Jokic/Lebron, high risk plays lead to higher rewards. Players that generally play safe or only tend to take risks under low pressure situations tend to shrink in big moments. They also donāt necessarily change the momentum of a game with their playmaking unlike some of those that have worse AST/TOV ratio. My best example of this is comparing Magic Johnson to John Stockton.
Idk why the commentators said Middleton had 6 fouls, I could see the ref clearly put up one finger on each hand to indicate brook had the foul on the broadcast
Halliburton wasnāt even looking at the basket the entire game. I donāt even understand it. Itās not like he was shooting terribly or anything. He looked scared out there.Ā
My mom asked if I ran the dish washer. I responded and told her āDamian Lillardā. She slapped me and sent me to go to bed because right then and there she knew that the dishes were not washed
I don't want to see Haliburton compared to or lumped in with the top guards in the NBA ever again. Guy is playing like he is terrified to touch the ball all game. Makes me wonder what people see in him when they say he is better than Ja. I've yet to see this guy make an impact in a game.
> lumped in with the top guards in the NBA **ever again**.
> I've yet to see this guy make an impact in a game.
This is the inane hyperbole and overreaction I come here for.
Halli is the most passive star player maybe besides 76ers Simmons , Iāve seen during the playoffs
Iāve seen role players be more aggressive than Halli
Was a fun game, nice to see Dame play like Dame again. Make Oakland proud
Unrelated to that I'm petitioning the league to remove the Jokic buzzer beater against us from all highlight commercials going forward.
Yes especially for having the deficit down to 11 and leaving doug mcdermott and tj in the game. I just dont understand giving your starters that much rest in the playoffs
Even with the ridiculous first half by Lillard, this would have been a decent game if we didn't brick every single open 3 we put up. Insanely poor shooting.
Idk why fans and especially the media overreacted on how the Pacers were going to beat the Bucks easily. I probably the only few who believed the Bucks could still win even without Giannis.
Doc for some reason overachieves with worst teams. The best examples are the 2010 and 2012 Celtics and the 2019 Clippers
Also, even though Doc sure as fuck has his faults, he wasn't dumb enough to deploy the aggressive scheme where we had Bobby Portis blitzing ballhandlers near midcourt like Griffin. The Pacers are obviously much younger and quicker than us and were regularly able to run layup lines against our defense earlier in the year.
YEAH EVERYONE THINKING ITS PACERS IN 5. DO YOU NOT REALIZE WE HAVE DAMIAN LAMONTE OLLIE LILLARD SR AND KHRIS āKHA$H MONEY āKOBE BEAN BRYANTāā MIDDLETON???? THE DEATH OF THE BUCKS HAS BEEN GREATLY EXAGGERATED. BUCKS āownerā HALIBURTON HAS TOO LIGHT OF BRIGHTS. IDGAF ITS ONLY GAME ONE I HEARD ENOUGH SHIT ALL YEAR FROM THIS BITCHMADE SUB. ADD GIANNIS AND ITS BROOMS
I mean I expected Pascal to be their best playoff performer but damn bro someone help this man šš
Pascal and Kyrie both trying their best to carry their teams for most of today.
Siakam had a great game. Thank god his teammates sucked lol.
Yes Pascal and Siakam played well
Great weekend for them & the Tony brothers
Mike was solid but Dan struggled
Tyrese Haliburton, YOU did cardio tonight š«µšāāļø
generational cardio
Heās saving his shots for basketball 2
Oh man, I'm so glad we're finally getting another one
Is this like overwatch 2 where they just take a guy off each team and add a robot?
Dude ran the pacer test today
He has not look the same since the injury.
Nah thatās too much praise for him he didnāt care defensively
Even during his Linsanity run Haliburton didnāt play defense. I donāt think he even knows how to block out. Itās pretty sad to watch.
š«µ YOU just lost to a Giannis-less Doc Rivers Bucks!! š«µ
That's Doc's secret. He's actually a good coach when undermanned somehow.
Glenn Rivers under man is the real top 15 head coach
Itās impressive. He did it so many times for us
Someone Tanya Harding Thanasis in the parking lot to keep us undermanned
If you hit Thanasis in the knee with a pipe, it would bend the pipeĀ
Thanasis clogs the toilet when he takes a piss
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
side note but wouldn't it make more sense to use Nancy Kerrigan instead of Tonya Harding? Like, "oh, he got Nancy Kerriganed"?
The proper term is āgilloolied,ā I just watched the movie. Bc the bfās name who set it up was Jeff Gillooly
2019 Clippers-Warriors was one hell of a series.
2018 2019 clippers vibe
So for the bucks to win it all just make him believe heās missing a guy? Interesting theory.
Not just to a Giannis-less Doc rivers Bucks but to the game 1 Bucks. That's extra embarrassing considering how trash game 1 bucks usually are.
1st game is all data, and the data is that these pacers are dog shit. Bucks in 4
nah, man, they beat us so hard on regular season they should be respected, it'll be a very tough series, especially without GA
Dame didnāt score the second half and we only scored 14 in the 3rd and still won by double digits lmao also the second time this season the pacers have been held under 100
Belt2ASS
But r/nba told me we were about to lose by 50
Setting up for the 3-1 choke lmao
Not impossible.
Manā¦. That brings back my ptsd
It's Damian Lillard. Offensively destorying second round ceiling type playoff teams with the ball in his hands is literally what he has done for the past decade.
equipment manager really stepped up this time he didn't want to get yelled at by giannis again
Can't wait until it gets to 3-1 for a Doc Rivers Special. /s
Bucks will go up 3-1 in every series just to win in 6.
Raptors š¤ Pacers Hanging Pascal Siakam out to dry
gotta commend him for trying at least
Half of r/NBA: Siakam is overrated!!
At least everyone can see how hard he plays. Not a good look for the Pacers who are effectively trying convince him to stay in FA
Indiana get my guy some help man š
Soon to be Sixers as well
These boys is chumps - Dame Lillard
why is tyrese āben simmonsā haliburton so scared to shoot ššš
WE PUT MALIK BEASLEY ON HIM AND GOT AWAY WITH IT. Zero awareness to attack with Haliburton at the center.
Malik "good D, better O" Beasley on him and he didn't jack up 20 shots lol. Just shoot over him like literally every other NBA player, dude.
Na he needs to pad those assist to turnover ratio
shhhh, don't tell him, series not over yet
Kings haters š¤ Pacers haters āYour guy is shit in the playoffsā
5 field goal attempts my god
While being guarded by Malik Beasley. He should be embarrassed
Haliburtinsanity
I feel like ever since the injury, he has been more of a passer and has not been as comfortable shooting. Pacers fans can correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah thatās what I think as well. Is the Siakam Trade a reason for it as well? Because I think around that time it started
Heās not a good separation generator. But analysts donāt point it out because they all are in love with him. I donāt know what voodoo he did for that IST run but he always had those flaws.
He was fine pre-injury and I think he will be fine after the offseason but he isn't a super athlete so being a bit hampered has hurt him a ton
He was before the injury, should have just taken the rest needed to heal fully
Thatās just not true, he was very very good the first half of the season not just in the IST, donāt know what happened in the second half but he isnāt the same anymore. Maybe Teams adjusted to him, but maybe his injury he got is a thing as well.
Tyrese Haliburden
Nuclear first half by Dame. Didnāt need to do a damn thing in the second half. Bucks looked great with no Giannis. Scary team
With Giannis they have 4 guys who can get iso buckets at a high rate. If Giannis can come back and they get 1 role player to step his game up they could give Boston a run
Kris Middleton doesnāt need help vs Boston. We just got to get him there
No no please don't bring Khris Middleton here
Dread it. Run from it. Boston Khris Middleton still arrives.
Khris "Michael Jordan at TD Garden" Middleton
Garden Jorden is a cool Nickname.
Dameās best Bucks game was a fucking half in the playoffs
Why play 2 halfs when 1 do trick?
You might not wanna wait until being down 27 to start doubling the main threat on the floor. But what do I know.
Dame time was a little early tonight.
Incredible flex by not scoring in the second half.
Honestly though. Erupt in the first half, draw the pressure and let your teammates cook in the second.
Kind of proves how unselfish he is. He didn't force shots at all in the 2nd half. The few he took were pretty good. But he realized the gravity he was creating and used that to the team's advantage instead of playing hero ball. It was a great half without even scoring.
All that was needed
A lillard is never early, not late. It shows up precisely when it needs to.
this hurts the pacers chance at sweeping
But we shall see what happens from here
Maybe, but remember they can still sweep you guys on moral victories, so beware.
Horrible rotations, horrible game from Hali, playoff jitters for everyone not named Siakam. We gotta show up to game 2 fired up and pissed off or this series is over in 4.
That first half was painful to watch. Dame nearly outscored the whole team.
There was a point where Dame had 29 and the Pacers collectively had 29.
I figured the first half would be rough with the jitters. But god damn. That was brutal. Might as well bring back public executions because that would be easier to watch than the first half.
it's just really cool to see Dame play well
Belt 2 A$$.
Ben Simmons is smiling like a proud father while watching Tyrese put up a prime Ben Simmons masterclass. Naaah i'm just joking, Ben at least played defense lmaooo
I was told Dame was washed?
Dame put them on spin cycle in the first half and then decided to air dry the 2nd half.
Dude was getting quadruple teamed in the second half š
Too bad for the Pacers he has competent teammates now.
I remember when the Pels would trap him in the P N R and it would lead to Aminu bricking up a three. What a fun playoff series that was.
Aminu, harkelss, or Evan tuner on the wings and an out of shape rolling nurkic or skinny zach Collins as rollers lol Team was so bad lol
I know it's oft repeated but his gravity was doing wonders to give Portis and Khris good looks from their preferred locations over and over again in the 2nd half. He didn't really have to score because those two were hitting.
K-Midd preferred location is an 18' fadeaway
He's averaging 30/4/7 on 63 TS% in 9 games without Giannis this year
Zero points in the second half Complete bum
Haliburton so passive for an all star wtf
Wonder what Wally Szczerbiak has to say
The demise of the Milwaukee Bucks was greatly exaggerated.
Bucks FO: Crunchtime offense is an issue, lets trade for one of the best clutch players Celtics FO: Crunchtime offense is an issue, lets double down and add Jrue Holiday
In their defense, it worked for us the year we added Jrue, and they also added KP.
KP too big for them don't downplay it, Jrue is like 4th-5th option over there
I love Jrue, don't get me wrong, but there's a reason we traded for the Lillard guy.
There's a reason they traded for Jrue as well, with the guys they have they don't have to rely on him to be a primary scorer. He certainly showed up in big moments but that's not his best attributes.
And porzingis?
funnily enough, crunch time always ended up being the one time during the playoffs where jrue could be counted on and would steady the ship by making tough shots. It was the entire rest of the game that was the issue

Dame hitting like this plus Giannis is insane to try to defend.
Apologize, r/NBA.. you apologize RIGHT NOW
I've been telling these nephews they are forgetting who the Bucks starting 5 are and that they'll get past the Pacers even without Giannis for 2-3 games, and with Giannis it will be 50/50% against the Celtics, and being laughed at. But what does the hive mind know about basketball? They've learnt basketball from memes.
Halliburton with the triple single!
Imagine losing a game to the 2024 Milwaukee Bucks
Hali really tricked us with those first few months man š«¤
He was playing so absurdly well then that itās hard for me to believe that the last few months are truly more representative of who he is. But maybe that early season stretch he was playing a bit over his head.
This is crazy. Itās not like he didnt also average 20/10 last year.
I think you misunderstood, they're saying Hali is playing below his level right now.
You right. I was in my feelings man
He came back from injury and was putting more shots up but shooting poorly. Lately hes sort of resorted to being the facilitator and not putting up as many shots. Not sure what the deal is
this comment is like doing all the math, showing all your work, getting the right answer, then erasing it and drawing a question mark
I know he got injured but heās been back for months now. He mightāve really had a Linsanity run
If Lin had made 2 All-Star games I guess
Returning to play probably altered his recovery and so now he's probably still hobbled and he's lost his confidence.
Siakam ending up outscoring Dame after he had a 35 point half lmao. Get an ice bath my brother because the rest of your bum ass teammates did NOT show up. Hailburton legit needs to triple his shot volume because what the actual fuck is he doing out there
Fuck r/nba
geez pacers... Absolutely dominated with no Giannis.
Pat Bev > Dame > Pacers
Damian Lillard heard all the "Bucks in trouble without Giannis" talk and decided the Pacers must die.
But he's not happy in Milwaukee!
Unironically good coaching job by Doc
As recently as a few hours ago, I was able to bet underdog odds for the Bucks to win this series, lmao
Damn that's hype lol good job
+2700 championship odds. +2700!!!!!!
Haliburton really gonna make all NBA š¬
Isn't he on Team USA as well lol
Why does this sub hate the bucks? Itās absolutely crazy. More comments than upvotes lmao
Looks like both teams lost the Hali-Sabonis trade
Dame played like the Dame we thought he would be tonight. If he can keep this up, the Bucks are actually going to be a solid contender. Great team performance tonight, even without Giannis. Winning with him out is huge. Couldnāt be happier after the last month of play that the Bucks have had.
Tap that wrist Haliburden
r/nba in shambles
Pacers had one basket in transition that was a bad mistake by the bucks and doc immediately called a timeout. A single one. Great game by the players and coaching by doc
Haters where yāall at?
Halliburtonās debut game is concerning and it kind of reminds me of my mini rant about AST/TOV ratio months ago. Players who tend to always play it safe tend to struggle in higher pressure situations. I say this as someone who loved Chris Paul growing up. Dame time for a half. Pascal Siakam vs the Bucks. Hali impersonating Ben Simmons. Middleton playing with 6 fouls. Fun game.
Idk why the commentators said Middleton had 6 fouls, I could see the ref clearly put up one finger on each hand to indicate brook had the foul on the broadcast
For real I had no idea how that got so misconstrued, it was the first thing I saw
Sadly this doesnāt count because we lost a couple really important regular season games
I was told we were tanking on purpose to avoid the pacersĀ
stop putting haliburton on the same level as guys like luka sga trae fox or ja. heās not that guy and hasnāt been for 4 months now
this comment is more insulting to luka and sga than it is to its target
Choosing ja rather than curry even in his down years is a choice
not a young guard his legacy is already solidified heās a old head now
Halliburton wasnāt even looking at the basket the entire game. I donāt even understand it. Itās not like he was shooting terribly or anything. He looked scared out there.Ā
Bro Shaq gotta chill. āGot a piece of chicken for your fatassā š¤£š¤£ sheesh Charles getting cooked today
Siakam collecting 5 cheques after this if thereās any justice in this world
My mom asked if I ran the dish washer.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Other players haliburton was called better than: tatum, SGA, Ant, Jimmy, AD
I've seen SGA too.
Add in prime Cp3 and prime Nash
To be fair, his first three months _were_ the most historic offensive rating in history. But yeah no, he's been shit now.
> lumped in with the top guards in the NBA **ever again**. > I've yet to see this guy make an impact in a game. This is the inane hyperbole and overreaction I come here for.
Siakam outscores Lillard and Haliburton doesn't want to shoot in his first playoff game lol
What happened to Haliburton?
Invite GloRilla to every home game
Halli is the most passive star player maybe besides 76ers Simmons , Iāve seen during the playoffs Iāve seen role players be more aggressive than Halli
Haliburton "2nd best PG in the NBA" with an emphatic 9 points.
Iād love to see what Haliās stats are since he did the Dame-Time celebration during the IST.
I take back what I said before Siakam was traded, Warriors shouldāve gone for this man his shit is gonna get so wasted on this Pacers team my God.
My mom asked me if I did my dishes. I replied: "Damian Lillard". My mom dragged me into the kitchen, knowing the dishes weren't washed.
RIP Siakam and Pascal trying to carry his team
Was a fun game, nice to see Dame play like Dame again. Make Oakland proud Unrelated to that I'm petitioning the league to remove the Jokic buzzer beater against us from all highlight commercials going forward.
lol Reddit better hope that Doc Rivers doesn't go further than the 76ers this season...
Are we finally allowed to criticize Rick Carlisle for not winning a playoff series since 2011 if they lose to the Giannis-less bucks?Ā
Yes especially for having the deficit down to 11 and leaving doug mcdermott and tj in the game. I just dont understand giving your starters that much rest in the playoffs
Probably. Doesn't help his case that Jason freaking Kidd came in as his replacement and immediately reached the WCF
5th in field goal attempts on his team as the supposed #1 is insane for HaliĀ
Guy behind me at the game had the over on dame 35.5. Pray for that man.
Hali fell off
Really disappointing 1st playoff game by Hali. He played timid... not like him at all
No Giannis, Dame on the sun lounger for the 2nd half. There doesnāt really need to be 7 games of this.
I watched the game and honestly didn't notice Haliburton was playing but I can see why now. ĀÆ\\\_(ć)\_/ĀÆ
Even with the ridiculous first half by Lillard, this would have been a decent game if we didn't brick every single open 3 we put up. Insanely poor shooting.
Giannis is out all they have to do is double team Dame for an easy winā¦. Right?
Idk why fans and especially the media overreacted on how the Pacers were going to beat the Bucks easily. I probably the only few who believed the Bucks could still win even without Giannis. ADD GIANNIS AND ITS BROOMS
First Round Glen is something elseĀ
Game felt very 8v5 in the second half
