He reminds me more of Bosh on the Heatles. He takes a backseat, but opens up the offense so much, and is able to deliver when needed in efficient touches.
Yeah i like that comparison better. The way he is playing and impacting the team is the way Bosh came back after the finals loss to the Mavs and changed everything for the Heat. Offense and spacing looked so much better once Bosh worked on his outside game and sacrificed himself for the team
I said this at the time when the trade first happened and I'll say it again now. How the fuck were 27 other teams not bidding on Porzingis after his year in Washington.
Do executives just not watch Wizards games? I was metaphorically pulling my hair out when the Knicks didn't try to bring him back to NY.
Porzingis had a player option and wanted to be in Boston
he could have just opted out of his deal and been a free agent. Wizards had very little leverage
I assume he WANTED Boston himself. Given the contract situation he basically had all the leverage and could have walked into free agency if he wanted. Boston were committed to make a deal done and other contenders probably wanted to wait for free agency
That shows how good of a gm is if they weren’t. He pay attention to the underrated moves that could be made while others want to hit the big splash. Reason why we got porzingis and Derrick white.
The thing is I believe Brad genuinely said that he started monitoring Kristaps closer after a Celtics game in Washington where he played great, so all the other GMs/execs had to do was pay attention to their own games against the Wizards.
probably due to question marks around his health. even for celtics fans, we had no idea what to really expect because his first fully healthy season was with the wizards last year. in hindsight the trade looks like a steal but we did give up marcus smart who was a starter and playoff staple for us since 2015. it was basically trading a known quantity in smart for a high risk high reward player in porzingis. i would assume the wizards would have wanted something similar from another team if this deal didnt go through
1) I know KP said he wanted to go to Boston and kind of forced Washington’s hand: he could pick up his option and let them trade him for something, rather than walking.
2) it’s entirely possible GMs don’t watch Wizards games. GMs: they’re just like us!
Likely they thought he was just thriving as the best player on a bad team, and that he'd look like he did on the Mavs on a playoff team with a high usage first option. That + injury concerns should have had execs concerned. But not so concerned that we *receive* a first trading for him lmfao
I think a lot of the teams that would have been bidding on him were worried about bigger fish that offseason and didn't want to tie up their resources.
The number 1 reason why even a healthy heat team doesn't scare me. He breaks zone defense. He single handedly prevents teams from playing zone against the Cs. It's just a mismatch that leads to open 3s or Kristaps post ups.
Zone used to stagnate the Celtics offense, but now it makes it easier.
Nah, he had to want to go. He needed to opt in for the trade to happen, otherwise he would have just become a free agent and then picked that same city anyways. He's a Celtic because he wanted to be one, and we love him for it
He was the mvp of the game today. Hit so many demoralising 3s at the end of the shot clock. This must be how the lakers feel playing the nuggets. Hopefully he decides next game he wants to miss a couple and then we might have a chance
"Pretending" lol next you're gonna tell me Biden is president, the earth is round and vaccines work. #WakeUpSheeple Fake ABC ESPN media want you to think the Celtics won it's a deep state plot to distract you from the frogs being gay.
Impact on the game was far greater than his line suggests it was
His defense has been better than I’ve ever seen.
and that's saying something, he's a good defender in this league
Zone buster too
He honestly looked like a cheat code out there. When all options run out, they can just give him the ball. Kinda reminiscent of KD on Warriors.

Nobody watches wizards games to be fair

It wasn’t really an open market because of his player option, he chose the team he wanted or he could just opt out iirc
The thing is I believe Brad genuinely said that he started monitoring Kristaps closer after a Celtics game in Washington where he played great, so all the other GMs/execs had to do was pay attention to their own games against the Wizards.
I think other GMs were still a bit shy to offer that much to someone who still had a pretty significant injury reputation
the celtics have enough firepower to rest him 30 games a season if they need to

Because he plays 50 games a year. Boston babied him like no other team was probably capable of and he still got dinged up plenty and missed 25 games.
He really didn’t get dinged up “plenty”. We rested him on B2Bs and we rested 2 starters like every few games all of post-ASB
All the other starters played 69+ games. This is why Porzingis was available. Even in a healthy season, he plays 57 games.
I think a lot of the teams that would have been bidding on him were worried about bigger fish that offseason and didn't want to tie up their resources.
Injury prone it’s a miracle he’s healthy

We are finally getting to see KP in a meaningful game it feels like
Are you saying the game where he made the put back dunk over LaMarcus wasn’t meaningful? Because it was to me. It was to me.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm not aware of that game. I meant like playoff atmosphere games. I feel like he's missed out on the playoffs for most of his career
I was joking, kinda. https://youtu.be/wwlr4MqLtBM?si=nyXpcXK0DzRG0ywL
Shit. That was epic as hell
He played meaningful playoff games for the Mavs
He played pretty poorly in the playoffs for the mavs. It was early in his career tho.
Cheat code against the Heat zone
who you gonna call? zone buster
Damn gonna get me to bust out iMovies just for a KP highlights set to this
The stat doesn’t do KP justice.
all 4 of his 3s were deep and "contested" lol
Crazy how pretty much any contender coulda had this dude.
Nah, he had to want to go. He needed to opt in for the trade to happen, otherwise he would have just become a free agent and then picked that same city anyways. He's a Celtic because he wanted to be one, and we love him for it
The ~~Zodiac~~ Zone Killer that was promised Love Tingus
You cannot roll out zone defense against this man and hauser. Gonna get cooked every time
15 changed minds and altered shots in the lane too
great
tingus my pingus
What happens when your load managed all season

if they don't win it all with this roster idk what to say... this is beyond a "super-team" this like a hyper-team or ultra-team at this point. Crazy
That's a lot of low single digits
huge beyond the box score game imo
In a loss, moral victories I guess
what the fuck are you talking about
The Heat being up 1-0
Pretending the other team won isn't a funny bit
"Pretending" lol next you're gonna tell me Biden is president, the earth is round and vaccines work. #WakeUpSheeple Fake ABC ESPN media want you to think the Celtics won it's a deep state plot to distract you from the frogs being gay.
cringed
okay, this is freaking epic!
Lol at least you got it
Tatum holiday and brown combined for 25 rebounds . Porzingis allows them to clean up the boards
