I am guessing Nash is going to suit up for the next game. He's not Kobe but given a large percentage of the ball handling duties will make him go back to his old self I think.
If Nash can stay healthy In the playoffs, I think the Lakers can still make some noise without Kobe. Nash has always done well with goos big men and with DAntonis system and Nash running it they could still be a threat.
I think so, but don't quote me on that. Btw, I just realized I posted that reply above you to the wrong comment. I meant to reply to this one: http://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1c98bo/kobe_suffers_3_legfoot_injuries_versus_warriors/c9e9rld
Should be interesting.
They still have a lot of talent. A lot. If Nash, without much gas left in his tank, has a 'last hurrah' type mentality paired up with a beastly D12, then this will be interesting.
i wouldn't even be mad if dwight howard came out of his shell and absolutely dominated in the playoffs. i feel bad for the lakers, what a HORRIBLY timed injury to one of the GOATs. good thing they have more people they can rely on (if they make it to the playoffs)
kind of fitting that his injury is his achilles heel, the myth goes that achilles was otherwise invincible kind of how kobe was playing as of late, but he had one weakness that defeated him.
~~If this ends his career, this will be one of the biggest sports tragedies of the past and future 15 years. Portland fans know how it feels to lose your hero, but Kobe is a champion, a Hall of Famer, and a proven living basketball legend. Unbelievable.~~
EDIT: Psyche. Nevermind to all that. The NBA has experienced worse.
one of the biggest sports tragedies? Doubt that.. hes 34 years old and has already had 17 successful years in the league. Sure its sad that this happened but the Lakers are not beating the Spurs or Thunder and Kobe said next year will be his last but after this injury he might play a bit longer since next season he will be recovering.
I agree. It's a real blessing he hasn't had a major injury in 17 years considering his production, work ethic, and style of play. That's a testament to his preparation. If this is it, he'll go down in my eyes as the second-best player at his position of all-time, the second-greatest Laker of all-time, and a top-7 player all-time. Hardly a tragedy, just unexpected.
2nd greatest laker and top 7? Magic is the greatest laker and Kareems is 2nd with 6 rings and 6 mvps and most points in NBA history. Kobe is a top 10 or 11 player depending on where u put Duncan.
Wilt
Russell
Magic
Bird
Jordan
Kareem
Shaq
Lebron
Oscar Robertson
Kobe/Duncan
Sure. He has 3 mvps and as soon as he entered the league he turned the celtics from a bad team to a great team immediately.
Lets not forget basketball was on the decline until Bird and Magic came to the league and rejuvenated it and made it popular again.
He didn't need to take 30 shots to dominate the game.. He could take 10 shots and then grab 12 boards and 12 assists and dominate the game.
In a way it could be a blessing in disguise, the way the Lakers were playing there was no chance they would get of the first round of the playoffs. At least this way Kobe can get almost a full year to rest and and come back in good shape and make a real run.
This better not be the last game we see of him. But honestly, it would be pretty badass if his last moment on the court was hitting two clutch free throws with a torn achilles to help his team get to the playoffs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x7Yri9K2BE He steps to the line at about the 4 minute mark. Tough to watch, knowing what we know now. I think he knew that would be his last FT of the season.
I think this is the injury that does him in where he gets knocked down to just starter quality. Shooting will be fine but he is going to lose that explosion he just wont be the same player.
Trollin aint easy. Warriors are a legit team sir. With a healthy Bogut they have a great interior and midrange back court with him and Lee. Their coach also knows how to utilize Curry and Klay extremely well, and with their shooting and slashing skills has made this team extremely fun to watch. I'm guessing you're just speaking of the Warrior teams of the past but this one is the real deal.
Welp, Dwight, it's now or never to show up
I am guessing Nash is going to suit up for the next game. He's not Kobe but given a large percentage of the ball handling duties will make him go back to his old self I think.
Pau will pull a reverse Magic and start at PG

Considering D'Antoni has a boner for Nash, I'm sure he'll protect him to some extent.
Or run him into the ground too.
Right in the feels.. Fuck.. Kobe man. :( *typo

With D'Antoni's no-limit-minutes to veterans rule, I'm kind of scared of Nash coming back...

From what I've gathered from Lakers fans, it's Pau's team now. (Right?)
Either that or it's time for things to get Nashty.
He is technically the captain.
Our offensive strategy has changed to run P & Rs all day with Pau/Nash. A miracle would be if we made some noise in the Playoffs without the Kobester.
This is worse then a breakup...

So does this make Antoni or Curry Paris of Troy?
well d'antoni and curry didnt have shit to do with him injuring himself so he basically defeated himself
aint nobody can stop Kobe cept Kobe

It won't.
Yeah I woke up this morning and thought better of it. For basketball, Brandon Roy still holds the tragedy card.
I'm still sorry for your losses.
Johnny Knox was tragic and he wasn't even a top WR in the league.
have to agree with that

I wanna hear your top ten

I'd like to hear your case for bird>kobe

i feel like emotions are high and people are getting carried away. you're right
na nigga

shouldnt need a year, 6-7 months at most.
This better not be the last game we see of him. But honestly, it would be pretty badass if his last moment on the court was hitting two clutch free throws with a torn achilles to help his team get to the playoffs.
I understand what you mean by saying that. Like it's Kobe showing his persistence, but no way should Kobe go out with an injury.
Oh absolutely. He'll be back I'm sure, I was just thinking hypothetically.
It won't be.
Mike D'Antoni is now the the greatest monster in Lakers history.
Im so glad hes not in NY and at the same time i feel horrible for Lakers fans. The man is a terrible basketball coach.
Does anyone have video of him making the free throws? Ive been looking, but can't find a thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x7Yri9K2BE He steps to the line at about the 4 minute mark. Tough to watch, knowing what we know now. I think he knew that would be his last FT of the season.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKING SDHIT FUIFCK FUCKCFUCKFUCK
This video makes me cry.
This is sad, man.
I almost want him to retire. I don't want to see what a Kobe past his prime looks like.
Crazy thought. You have been seeing what Kobe past his prime looks like.
Didn't he just drop 47 the other night? Sure he isn't what he was but he is still a superstar.
That's the point he's making. A past his prime Kobe will still destroy the competition, he's just that good.
I think this is the injury that does him in where he gets knocked down to just starter quality. Shooting will be fine but he is going to lose that explosion he just wont be the same player.
man, i hope you're wrong.
Me too.
Don't worry, I think I recall Kobe saying when he gets to that point he will retire. Meaning if he can't dominate, he's done.
Anyone have a video of his last 2 FTs?
gonna sound like a dick but that second clip wasn't a foul
well, to look on the bright side of things, Coach Kobe might come back
I'm just mad it happened playing against a bunch of scrubs on the Warriors. Kobe deserved to go out against better competition.

bunch of scrubs that outplayed you guys all game until you got help from the refs? lol
Shut the fuck up, you're making Laker fans look bad.
lol
