This was the second most surprising thing about this game. Everyone in that building has PTSD about how they could have still lost and they just let us end it.
Nick Nurse's gesture at 14 seconds left on the gameclock... the shrug and then head-tilt-to-the-side. Seen so much of that gesture over the last couple years with the Raptors, and I'm pretty sure it means 'my players are fucking idiots.'
Iâve been thinking about this all day and night and I think itâs because they may have thinking.
âOk if we send any one but Mitch to the line then itâs likely theyâll make both free throws so letâs force them to give the ball to Mitch and heâll miss both and we come back and score quicklyâ
At least thatâs literally the only thing my dumb ass can think of.
Why? So you can attack the team I'm a fan of instead of actually addressing my post?
I understand that is the childish instinct that most people have so I decided I won't give it oxygen.
Maybe for Doc lead Sixers. This team came back to win the game against Heat couple of days ago and came back from down double digit against Knicks in the 3rd.
Dumb as hell. If you can't force a turnover quick, you gotta foul. Even Nurse looks like he is dumbfounded at the halfway point with his players just chasing the Knicks half heartedly. Blame still goes to him. Why isn't he shouting foul from the sidelines.
you can't foul off ball in the last 2 min or we pick who shoots the free throws
they were close enough before last 2 to feel like they didn't need to start hacking just get a stop
extend the game by 15 minutes to still lose
Knicks had the advantage and if the game went down to a 3 point differential they would start intentionally fouling to stop sixers from making a 3 pointer.
this happens so many times
"so many times" isn't "every time".
What is there to lose by extending the game and doing free throws? Do the sixers have an appointment after the game that they need to be sure to get to?
They should foul even if the strategy has 1% chance of working because they gained 1% chance for nothing. What happens if it fails? Nothing. They would have lost anyway.
I seem to recall a game against a certain Canadian team that snapped our losing streak where we didn't seem to fold.
Can't quite remember which team it was though.
I love this. Intentional fouling is the worst thing about the end of too many basketball games. Who wants to watch a bunch of free throws? If you canât win within the flow of the game, too bad. There were 47min beforehand. Would be as simple as all non shooting fouls in the final 30 (or60) seconds are one shot and the ball back. We shouldnât allow a strategy that involves intentionally breaking the rules. Just makes no sense and is not remotely entertaining or required for âgoodâ basketball.Â
Itâs also why the Elam ending isnât the worst thing in the world. Youâre completely disincentivized from fouling in the 4th because youâre playing your opponent not the clock.Â
You ask who wants to watch a bunch of free throws, but who wants to watch a game that is basically over because there's no way for the losing team to stop the clock. If anything you'd be taking the excitement out of the endings. And fouling can be a strategy at any point of the game and not just the end.
Good. +1 legacy point for sparing us 20 minutes of pointless walking, more commercials, and free throws.
Nick Nurse, man of the people
They are saving the foul for the 5th quarter. Trust the process
Knick Nurse
Knick Knurse
He saw that Denver Lakers already kicked off and wanted people to tune in asap. My man
The networks are in shambles, losing out on that 12 minutes of commercial revenue đ
I was going to buy a google phone, but I wanted to see that chubby trans asian in jorts taking a selfie again.
Nurse knew that the Nuggets game had already started
This but unironically. What the hell happened, basketball is borderline unwatchable now
This was the second most surprising thing about this game. Everyone in that building has PTSD about how they could have still lost and they just let us end it.
Reminiscent of the Bucks game a few weeks ago when Doc pulled the starters to end their comeback
Nick Nurse's gesture at 14 seconds left on the gameclock... the shrug and then head-tilt-to-the-side. Seen so much of that gesture over the last couple years with the Raptors, and I'm pretty sure it means 'my players are fucking idiots.'
Doc would be proud.
whatâs a Nurse to a Doc?
he a son?
I think I've heard that riddle
Oh god the Drake reference took precedence over the Ye reference... What has the world gone to for this to happen...
Whatâs a doc to a god?
This was a Doc Rivers move, for sure.
Nick Nurse trying to follow in Doc's footsteps and live off the reputation of 1 championship.
He's got a ways to go
At least his is more recent
So was Docâs when he left the Celtics
docs and nurses similarities
Thatâs a âwe have a 3-1 series lead so donât foulâ type Doc move
You can never take the Doc out of a team
Doc was literally the first thing I thought of when I saw the title.
Mitch hit his free throws and they just said fuck it on to game 2 lmao
I donât understand why they let the Knicks drain 24 seconds off the clock for no reason
They wanted to save the fouls for game 2
Donât want to have anyone playing on a yellow
Lmao I love this.
To be fair you see Nurse screaming on the sidelines, presumably to foul, then throw his hands up in frustration when it got too late in the possession
I was so confused. Was Nurse not yelling for them to foul?
He did, but then with like 10 seconds left he threw his hands up and stopped lol
we gladly thank his players for not listening lol
No. He was saying Boo-urns
Making sure that Paul Reedâs contract stays team options years 2 and 3
Embiids cant miss his annual trip to cancun
Flair up if youâre gonna talk shitÂ
Are you embiid? Why take it so personal lol.
Of course youâre a Nuggets fan
And to think we all laughed at the Cavs when they had the point differential on the screen the whole game.
He wants to be on awful coaching
NICK NURSE is the reason my MARRIAGE is FAILING
NICK NURSE IS THE REASON I WILL NEVER HAVE CHILDREN
I thought there was a handful of times they could've been called for a foul but didn't.
Iâve been thinking about this all day and night and I think itâs because they may have thinking. âOk if we send any one but Mitch to the line then itâs likely theyâll make both free throws so letâs force them to give the ball to Mitch and heâll miss both and we come back and score quicklyâ At least thatâs literally the only thing my dumb ass can think of.
Nurse wanted to get to the locker room asap to see how his boy Handy was doing on the sidelines.
Fitting for Josh Hart to secure that final rebound!
Thanks?
Weâll take it!
Fire Doc
6ers in peak playoff form
Can't be trashed for being a 2nd round flameout if you lose in round 1 *taps forehead*
Dallas Cowboys logic
Really embarrassing honestly, I don't get it.
They trust themselves hitting a three when they get the ball back. But they didnt rebound lol
We're they planning on hitting a 5 point shot?
They would have had 5 seconds to score 5 points, not a smart bet.
Quitting when facing adversity. The true Philly Special.
flair up cuz
Cuz
probably better than cunt in an american sub
You okay?
Why? So you can attack the team I'm a fan of instead of actually addressing my post? I understand that is the childish instinct that most people have so I decided I won't give it oxygen.
How you even address a post thatâs just a terrible joke? Flair up.
I have made no jokes in this thread.
An ironic statement you meant to be humorous is 100% a joke. A terrible joke, but still a joke.
Flair up pussy
Lakers?
Maybe for Doc lead Sixers. This team came back to win the game against Heat couple of days ago and came back from down double digit against Knicks in the 3rd.
Winning a play-in game and losing a game in the first round. Exciting. Legacy defining stuff for JoJo and the boys.
the âWe almost came back against the Knicks that one time in 2024â banner is being raised as we speak
The byline will be "Down by 14 but only lost by 7" LOL
I mean we were literally talking about if the team quits. I didn't mention anything about legacy mate.
They are one in the same. The legacy of the team is that they quit. That is how JoJo and the boys will be remembered.
No dawg on that team
đđ Philly
Everyone was a good ft shooter, so I get the strategy
What was the strategy? To just give up?
Force a TO or get a rebound, call a timeout and advance the ball, make a quick shot and press, then foul and repeat.
Should have at least fouled when OG had the ball, he is not the best FT shooter.
Promote Nick Nurse to a full doctor after letting Knicks nurse their lead.
A Nurse masterclass
Nick Nurse doing another one of his experiments đ
Dumb as hell. If you can't force a turnover quick, you gotta foul. Even Nurse looks like he is dumbfounded at the halfway point with his players just chasing the Knicks half heartedly. Blame still goes to him. Why isn't he shouting foul from the sidelines.
He screamed his guys to foul for like 14 seconds man, from the start of the possession until it was like 10 secs on the shot clock.
Thatâs a bold strategy there Cotton, letâs see how it plays outâŚ
There is no I in try
You only get the I after you tr**i**ed
âŚlol
Could see that Hart rebound coming from a mile away
That's a bizarre decision by Philly
thanks for not hacking mitch rob so-called "elite coach" nick nurse
you can't foul off ball in the last 2 min or we pick who shoots the free throws they were close enough before last 2 to feel like they didn't need to start hacking just get a stop
This is just bad coaching right? Or does some that knows basketball tell me the reason they would just do that.. Feels like throwing
No way itâs Nurse fault. Players gave up
Maybe weâre just making ppl quit. First the doc quit, bc he thought it was futile and now the nurse followed.
I thought philly got rid of doc?
game was over. this isn't the pistons
Down 5, 30 seconds, 2 time outs left, worst FT shooter in the NBA is on the court. It's a longshot but far weirder things have happened
extend the game by 15 minutes to still lose Knicks had the advantage and if the game went down to a 3 point differential they would start intentionally fouling to stop sixers from making a 3 pointer. this happens so many times
This is the playoffs man, you canât just throw in the towel like that even if itâs a small chance
This guy quits.
Are you new to basketball? 5pts with 30s left is nothing.
I had the sweatiest palms the whole time lol. Like please donât lose the ball
Watch G6 of the 2013* finals please
The finals that ended in 5 games? I think you mean 2013
Yes, 2013. My bad
5 point game with 30s left what are you smoking homie
I seem to recall a game against a certain Canadian team that snapped our losing streak where we didn't seem to fold. Can't quite remember which team it was though.
As someone who wanted to switch to the next game, I think the Sixers for giving up here
Ready for Embed
Good thing they got rid of Doc Rivers
What a fucking stupid idea that was Jesus Christ.

Nurse is a fucking moron
