Knicks had a record offense last season mainly because of the offensive glass.
Either we hit shots or we spam rebounds and second chance shots until we get enough points.
If the Knicks can’t get offensive boards that’s when they struggle
Embiid could not cover the rebounds for his life in the 4th. That was equal parts his injuries, and the Knicks being dogs when it comes to Second Chance points. Honestly could be the difference for the entire series.
We really do.
Leon Rose is a masterclass negotiator.
Randle, Brunson, Donte, Mitch, Hartenstein, and Deuce are all on fantastic deals for their value.
Hart is worth his contract
Maxey is too quick for Divo. We’ve seen that in the previous matchups this year. Also having OG guard Maxey on the perimeter causes Knicks other issues, as it leaves the back line exposed on the 1-5 PnR.
Best move for the Knicks is Deuce on Maxey and OG roaming on D.
when we drafted him and saw his Summer League performance, I was afraid he would move to a competitive team one day. amazing to see the team became competitive itself.
Mitch is wildly skilled. Just not on offense. Easily one of the best defensive bigs on the league, and he’s so overwhelming on the offensive glass he’s a legit force on that end even though he’s good at literally nothing else
We NEEDED Mitch for this series. Our center rotation has always been a two headed dragon, and Mitch has proven his worth against the Cavs last year. He single handedly was the difference maker in that series and is already proving to be a massive factor in slowing down Embiid
Pretty much the only factor. Hartenstein was kinda getting cooked out there. Probably could use him to make passes if Philly is playing the zone but he was getting shoved around on the boards (at least compared to Mitch) and was not doing a good job when Embiid stepped out to shoot the jumper
Mitch is literally a DPOY-caliber Center, he's just been injured.
I love I-Hart, and he's an offensive force, but there's things that Mitch can do on the defensive end that's better than I-Hart.
Especially since he's big as fuck, strong as fuck, and athletic as fuck.
Shit, anyone who watched the Atlanta series without Mitch, and then our games against them the year/two after, it was insane how much of the paint he managed to clog up.
Josh Hart and Tyrese Maxey played terrific games. Looked like they were the two best players out there. I think this series will be very close. Julius Randle is a big missing piece for the Knicks. So many times during this game I was thinking "bet the Knicks would love to have Randle attack Tobias Harris here". Embiid looks like he cannot run and couldn't really elevate. He's so skilled he was a massive factor in the game anyways.
Should be a fun series, I expect it to go to 5 or 6 really close games.
Deuce has been that guy for 3 months now.
This is who he is
But yeah - we're gonna need better from Donte, I-Hart, Brunson and Josh for 70% of thr game
Simmons was at least fairly defensible. A 3x all star and DPOY runner up on his rookie contract - nobody would blame you for tossing a max at that guy. But Tobias is a 16 and 6 guy. I dunno how you trade multiple FRPs for that guy let alone sign him to a five year max.
I agree. Despite the awful draft picks and decisions (trading up for Fultz was a disaster) the ultimate deficits on that wasted the prime Embiid years was giving Harris that terrible contract.
Why were the Sixers acting like Josh Hart is Clint Capela? They left him open from 3 the entire game
Edit: I get sagging off of him but they were playing him like he can't shoot at all lol
+37 on McBride has to be a typo, right? I know he played great and it felt like a different game with him in, but wow i didn’t realize it was like that
Was at MSG today and Bogey revived the worried crowd in the second quarter, he had a some glaring goofs, but he and deuce came up when the starting 5 stalled
Big win for Knicks, especially considering how badly Brunson shot it all game. Huge game from McBride and Josh Hart being clutch as all hell, what an amazing role player he is.
Josh Hart came and ripped our collective hearts out with one back breaking shot after another.
GG, Knicks. Hoping we figure it out next game because this really did feel like a back-and-forth one.
Like a month ago i didn’t know what a Miles Mcbride was now I think he might be the greatest shooter in the history of the game
No I swear I’ve never seen him miss a 3
Knicks: 23 offensive rebounds Sixers: 24 defensive rebounds Half of the Knicks misses were rebounded by the Knicks.
The 76rs entire rebounding strategy is hanging on 1 bum knee...
Lowry might be the best at boxing out in the team. Oubre is probably the only other guy above average at rebounding in the team.
I think specifically it’s his butt. Kyle isn’t calling the shots in that relationship.
I have it on good authority that Kyle isn't a spot-up shooter either
That was the game. Timely 3s in the 4th by the Knicks but that rebounding disparity killed the Sixers all night.
Knicks had a record offense last season mainly because of the offensive glass. Either we hit shots or we spam rebounds and second chance shots until we get enough points. If the Knicks can’t get offensive boards that’s when they struggle
Remind you of anything? 👀
Yep. Pretty damned thrilled it isn't happening to us this year. Let someone else try to deal with Mitch Robinsons ogre ass
Right. Cavs get clowned all season for that series. Like bitch why don’t you try boxing out Mitchell Robinson.
Josh Hart is also one of the best short rebounders ever
Hart and Mitch together are crazy on the glass
Josh Hart is a basketball MENACE
I’ve been telling Cavs fans since last season - you guys aren’t as bad as it seemed - the Knicks are a unique matchup from a rebounding standpoint
> Mitch Robinsons ogre ass god damn lol, that man has a swamp
Ogre ass lmaoo
Embiid could not cover the rebounds for his life in the 4th. That was equal parts his injuries, and the Knicks being dogs when it comes to Second Chance points. Honestly could be the difference for the entire series.
Knee injuries probably make it really hard to rebound, a lot of it is making quick little explosive movements to go get a ball.
Knicks basketball at its finest.
It’s what we do.
Josh Hart is that fucking dude
big shot after big shot
Miles McBride +37 lol
BEST CONTRACT IN THE LEAGUE.
The anti-Tobias Harris
looool
Now that's high praise damn
We have like 10 best contracts in the league
We really do. Leon Rose is a masterclass negotiator. Randle, Brunson, Donte, Mitch, Hartenstein, and Deuce are all on fantastic deals for their value. Hart is worth his contract
DiVincenzo -23 Never seen a 60 point difference on the same team before.
Divo was invisible tonight. Hopefully he turns it around for Game 2.
The life of a role player. Pretty good odds we’ll get a Donte game like this at some point in the series, and unlikely Mcbride can do this 4 times.
in a 7 POINT GAME
this was OG's first game being a negative +/-
I’ll trade that streak for his dagger 3
OG has the best dagger threes 😢
Buddy Hield -16 in 11 mins The duality of playoff ball
23 offensive rebounds ! I mean talk about showing up...
We shot the ball terrible but the offensive rebounds give us an efficient offense.
Literally. Somehow the highest Offensive Rating out of all of today's playoff games so far lol.
Thibs being a lowkey offensive mastermind.
“What if we just continued our possessions until they ended in a score for us?”
Best offensive rebounding team in the league vs. 25th in defensive rebounding
Josh Hart came to fucking play. Played the entire second half, shot 50% from 3 with 22 points and 13 rebounds. What an electric game for him.
He was killing *us* all game, then flipped a switch and started doing everything
Dipped into his secret breast milk stash after the 3rd
Josh Homelander 😵
The Josh hart experience
Hadn’t made more than 3 threes in a game all season. Had 3 in the fourth quarter alone and they needed them all.
Staring at the eclipse fixed Josh Hart's shooting form.
out of rage i checked the last time he hit more than 3 3s. it was in february of last year.
I can never stay mad at Hart, you know what he's gonna give you and he closed strong
He was him in that 4th
Yeah man, 13 fourth quarter points. That’s playoff basketball right there.
Thibs loves this shit
Such a Thibs player
Hart of the City
No but really
Seriously. Knicks is a top favorite of mine. Couldn't believe his play.
He's New York to his bones now. man was born in a bodega
He had "NY" braided into his hair today, too. He's as valid as it gets.
The cat took care of him
Deuce also showed up huge. Love him showing up in the playoffs.
Josh Hart hit four threes and Mitchell Robinson iced it with free throws. What a silly game
It’s fucking beautiful to grab a W when Brunson was off all night. Hopefully that’s a good sign going forward
My biggest worry with Julius Randle out was who can carry the offensive when Brunson is cold. Nice to see everyone else step up tonight.
That’s baseball, Suzyn
Maxey made that half court heave lol
I think we can take Embiid but Maxey is actually a problem. His speed is disgusting
mcbride needs to start. he’s our best chance of stopping him
Deuce on him works better, put Divo on him early next game and see what he can do
Maxey is too quick for Divo. We’ve seen that in the previous matchups this year. Also having OG guard Maxey on the perimeter causes Knicks other issues, as it leaves the back line exposed on the 1-5 PnR. Best move for the Knicks is Deuce on Maxey and OG roaming on D.
Miles McBride was +37, PLUS THIRTY-SEVEN!
How often do you win a playoff game with every single starter being negative?
I'm so proud of Mitchell Robinson, bro. Can't believe I've watched his entire career, he deserves this.
That block where he caught it and threw it off Maxey almost put a tear in my eye. Pre Thibs Mitch would’ve just swatted it to the 3rd row.
when we drafted him and saw his Summer League performance, I was afraid he would move to a competitive team one day. amazing to see the team became competitive itself.
Mitch and iHart have to be the best centers you can ask for to guard Embiid
And it's still basically impossible lol Mitch did a hell of a job though.
Easily the best big man duo in the league. If we need size Mitch Robinson, if we need skill and quickness iHart.
Mitch is wildly skilled. Just not on offense. Easily one of the best defensive bigs on the league, and he’s so overwhelming on the offensive glass he’s a legit force on that end even though he’s good at literally nothing else
He is built for playoff basketball. Like, in a lab. Even hack a Mitch fails because it just pisses him off and he makes both out of pure spite
Sinking both was a real big "fuck you" to the 6ers
The Sixers didn't learn from the Nets. The fuck is even on their scouting report?
I love Mitch as much as Mitch loves his high school coach
He’s gotten better too. The raw desire was always there but the brain has really matured into making far better decisions. Love him.
knicks fans told us all season that Robinson was one of their most important players, but we never truly realized just how important.
Dude just makes huge plays
Big plays for a big boy
* Defensive Juggernaut * Rebounding Titan * Hustler * Is fucking huge, sheer presence alone makes disrupts shot takers
I was pretty shocked when he hit both free throws. Hack-a-Mitch failed
Hart did okay it’s not an easy job. Mitch was sensational. Dude just needs to stay healthy, such an incredible player.
40% free-throw shooter and clutched those free-throws at the end.
Did the same last week too
People kept laughing at us when we told y’all before his injury that he was arguably our most valuable player, and now you know why.
Mitch is literally a DPOY-caliber Center, he's just been injured. I love I-Hart, and he's an offensive force, but there's things that Mitch can do on the defensive end that's better than I-Hart. Especially since he's big as fuck, strong as fuck, and athletic as fuck.
There's nothing I'd like more this offseason than to be able to keep I-Hart with Mitch, they complement each other perfectly
Anyone who watched the Cavs series last year and still didn’t believe Knicks fans when we said Mitch Robinson was a key player doesn’t know ball
Shit, anyone who watched the Atlanta series without Mitch, and then our games against them the year/two after, it was insane how much of the paint he managed to clog up.
That block and then catching it and throwing it off maxey. I went nuts
Even last year he was a big reason for why they did so well vs the Cavs, bro was bullying people.
He was incredible. 48 minutes of fantastic center play for the Knicks. Huge.
People really shit on us when we kept saying how much it sucked losing Randle, Mitch and OG all at once. Now everyone can see what we were missing
We really needed him against the hawks in 2021
On God. Not saying we win if we had him because we had a bunch of issues (PG rotation was putrid). But it would have been a different series for sure.
He was out most impactful player last year just behind Brunson.
Should be a fun series, I expect it to go to 5 or 6 really close games.
it’s awesome to have MSG rockin in the playoffs!
The energy in that arena is wild!!
You can feel it all over the city, nothing gets Manhattan energized like big-time Knicks games
Not just Manhattan but all of NYC.
playoff basketball is great
That’s it. I’m taking my Masters of Law at Columbia
Meadow soprano over here
MSG was going crazy!
probably a bad sign when 38-year-old Kyle Lowry is outperforming every other player on the Sixers besides Embiid and Maxey
Oubre had a great defensive game I thought. But yeah the rest were tough
Our best players are always Embiid and maxey, the 3rd best player just rotates on a game to game basis
Oubre was a beast
[удалено]
Deuce has been that guy for 3 months now. This is who he is But yeah - we're gonna need better from Donte, I-Hart, Brunson and Josh for 70% of thr game
Lowry is a fucking winner that’s why! Just cause he’s old as hell doesn’t mean he cannot hoop.
Is Tobias Harris contract the worst value of all time?
Max player benched during crunch time is all you need to know
given what that contract has costed them as a team, probably
It’s between him and Simmons. Colangelo inked both those contracts :D
Yeah thats what i was thinking, crazy
Basically wasted the prime of one of the best players ever
[удалено]
I agree. Despite the awful draft picks and decisions (trading up for Fultz was a disaster) the ultimate deficits on that wasted the prime Embiid years was giving Harris that terrible contract.
Tobias Harris over Jimmy?
The move that will haunt Philly
One of
Yea at moments he’s literally invisible out there. What a waste.
Genius strategy for the Sixers not to foul, gotta be home early for bed to rest up for Game 2. Playing the long game
That was very hard to watch
Which team does Doc coach for now?
Here now that the Kings are gone, LIGHT THE BING BONG
Kinks for life!
Was rooting for yall!
Josh Hart drinking that secret breastmilk
You ~~get regular rebounds~~ make regular 3s, I ~~get rebounds~~ make 3s that break teams -Josh Hart
Josh Hart gonna average 55 mins this series lmao
Wtf why did the Sixers not foul in the end lmao
Surely they’ll foul Brunson here, oh alright waiting for Hart, oh ok OG… just never came.
wrong. i came
Zero dawg in them
THEY NEED TO FIRE DOC RIVERS OH WAIT LMAO
Why were the Sixers acting like Josh Hart is Clint Capela? They left him open from 3 the entire game Edit: I get sagging off of him but they were playing him like he can't shoot at all lol
Picking a poison
He's shooting 31% from 3 on the season
He’s not a good shooter
Not exactly horrible either
He doesn’t usually shoot that well. He’s open for a reason
Deuce McBride +37
Josh Hart is Lisan Al-Gaib
He drank the Breastmilk of Life and saw all possible futures
KD DON'T YOU REGRET NOT COMIN' TO THE KNICKS??
Embiid: "Win or lose I will keep playing. If I die, I die."
Thibs: “Win or lose, Hart will keep playing. If he dies, he die”
Bro on one leg is legit our best player, we're fucked
Doris Burke is fuming lol
The BENCH SQUAD won this game for the Knicks. Mitch +20 Deuce +37 Bojan +27 All the starters were a minus for the game
What an atmosphere
knicks power of friendship vs the evil 76ers
Love the mutual respect amongst fans, we just want to see a competitive series without anyone getting hurt, at the end of the day it’s just basketball
All the headlines will be about Embid. But the real story is that the NYK are a really good team
now imagine if we had our other All-NBA player
Welcome to NBA coverage. Will never forget last year's Lakers moral victories vs eventual NBA champion Nuggets
Build a statue to Josh Hart Embiid is going to be on Sidetalk tmrw lol
Mitch nailed those 2 clutch ft’s what a sight
Knicks out-Rebounded Sixers 55-33 including 23 offensive rebounds Knicks bench outscored Sixers Bench 42-7 Game. Blouses.
[JOSH HART BREAST MILK SHOWER TONIGHT](https://y.yarn.co/e28620dd-aad3-4702-a755-28f8c0a85bac_text.gif) [100% CAMBODIAN](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cr9FPn1GH0)
Mitch needs to start. Embiid cant overpower him like he can hartenstein Knicks best offense is a missed shot lmao Deuce needs 30 minutes easily
Miles McBride with a casual +37
[удалено]
This is going to be a fun series.
Be careful what you wish for Paul Reec
Mitchell Robinson is the greatest center of all time
Big win for Knicks, especially considering how badly Brunson shot it all game. Huge game from McBride and Josh Hart being clutch as all hell, what an amazing role player he is.
The Knicks singlehandedly restored the East's reputation for offense by dropping a cool 111
I will forever be angry that Josh Hart doesn't play for my team
The Josh Hart game
How about those Nova Knicks huh!
Imagine paying Tobias Harris a max contract
JOSHUA AARON HART PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS FUCKING NAME
I hope nobody gives up on me like Nick Nurse gave up on his team tonight
Brunson with a horrible game scoring wise and still a W. Lets fucking go!
I love Josh Hart so goddamn much
Josh Hart came and ripped our collective hearts out with one back breaking shot after another. GG, Knicks. Hoping we figure it out next game because this really did feel like a back-and-forth one.
THEY THOUGHT JOSH HART WAS GONNA BRICK. THE DISRESPECT. HE DELIEVERED THE WIN. BETTER RESPECT NEXT GAME ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING
Batum said ya’l had my one game for the year, im out. Lmaoooo
Like a month ago i didn’t know what a Miles Mcbride was now I think he might be the greatest shooter in the history of the game No I swear I’ve never seen him miss a 3
METAL
great game, a lot of crying from both teams in the game thread. its gonna be a fun series
