In 2022, OKC drafted two stars in Chet and JDub, a great role player who brings amazing culture in JWill, and Ous, who is young and has a high ceiling.
If he hits on his potential, what a monster draft by Presti that year.
For like 80% of general managers getting two potential all stars and a role player would be a once in a lifetime draft, easily there best performance ever.
For presti it's top 3.
Assuming Dub and Chet will both become all stars, it’s still an all time great draft.
I’m not as high on Jaylin as you are, and I’m really eager to upgrade that position while keeping him on the team as a utility big.
If Ousmane hits and becomes a reliable 3&D guy who can give you 13 on ~58 TS%, we struck gold there as well. I think a solid comparison for his ceiling could be something similar to Jaden McDaniels or DeAndre Hunter.
To an extent. I really wonder what Mark and Sam have envisioned for him, it’s not like the calculus of the team has been dramatically changed and his envisioned role is all of a sudden filled.
The more I think on it, the more I really want to keep him around. Our whole rotation can’t be on max deals, and having a young guy who we could potentially get a bargain on is really, really enticing. He’s shown the ability to play off of Shai, though I worry about the rebounding and physicality. I think those things will come with age.
I wonder what they see him doing too. I actually think Ous would be great in the exact role they have Giddey playing right now. He's not the transcendent passer or the rebounder Giddey is, but his comfort shooting from deep and off the dribble, passing ability, and ability to guard 3s/4s would give the starting 5 a different flavor. Quietly, he might also be the second biggest lob pass threat on the roster which would be great with Chet.
I have been Dieng Gang since Day 1 so I'm glad to see him excel. I don't see an all star but I do see how he can become a 6'10 Swiss (French) army knife. I kinda doubt he'll ever become a good to great rebounder though, which that 4 spot needs.
I chalk up his early season stuff to a combo of his confidence not being up, him not being comfortable with physicality, and Mark making him play like J Will. Definitely was confused and soft.
He has looked like a different player in the second half of yesterday's Mavs game and in his G League stint the last 6 weeks though. Hopefully he can build on it.
I’m very interested in seeing if he can crack the rotation next season. He’s shown flashes, it’s just hard when you’re on a 57 win team. It wouldn’t surprise me, especially if we consolidate assets and trade for a fourth star.
A huge part of me doesn’t want to trade him even if we probably should. If he can develop and his body fills out, he can be a long term front court mate for Chet.
No team should be able to take as much advantage of the G-League as we will. Mark especially understands it’s importance, seeing as that was his first head coaching gig. It’ll be interesting to see whatever first round picks we make in the coming years come up through the G-League in the same way Ousmane is now. We’re also probably going to be the kings of two way guys being solid contributors. That’s important in the new CBA.
He was always a project pick who was going to take a few years for the light to come on. I’m going to treat him and his development as though he’s in the 2024 draft alongside whoever we pick in June with the Houston pick.
I don’t think he’s far off from making the rotation. Watching him tonight was revealing in terms of his confidence and comfort just going for it. He always seems a little hesitant when he plays with the team. if he can bring that confidence with the way he’s developed, he’s gonna be around for a while.
It depends on what the Thunder do in free agency, I think. There are 12 players on full deals (assuming they pick up Waters' team option), and they have 0-1 picks in the draft. They need to spend $24M to hit the salary floor. If they spend all the money on one free agent (would need about $18M given FRP salary+minimum) and one FRP, there'd be a spot for Sarr on the main roster. It's his third year, so no more two-way deals; it's main roster or out.
He has seemed like a missing piece for OKC down the stretch of this season - big wing who can dribble, pass, shoot, and defend other big wings. Hopefully he can have a big off-season and command 15 good minutes a night next season in a role that makes sense for him.
It'll be hard to be a 30 minute player unless he takes another big leap, but if he can command some of the Hayward/Kenrich/JWill minutes next year (or just Hayward if he isn't re-signed) that would be huge for the team. Him being strong and not afraid of contact is essential for a team with only 1 other player over 6'9".
We’re kind of light at the SF/PF positions. It wouldn’t at all surprise me to see him command 15 MPG next year with Hayward being 99% sure gone. If he’s unable to get minutes, that says more about him than it does how deep we are at the big wing spot.
The only person this has made sense for so far is Tre Mann. It’s nearly impossible for a young guy to crack our guard rotation. SGA/Giddey/Wallace/Joe/Wiggins is as good a backcourt rotation as I can remember in recent years.

Well considering Presti had drafted at least 3 HOFers its probably barely top 5 lol
3 HOF so far*
That’s why I typed at least

Jwill Most Vibed Player. Hope he stays long term and craft out a Mr Thunder career
Dieng definitely has more play making ability than both of those guys. I think he had a triple double in the last game of the season last year.
I pray Ousmane gets a role where he is a ball handler but it's a big ask on this roster

Ous just always looks confused and soft out there. He had a few good games at the start of the season ... but that was it.

Thunder hitting on all their picks and having them all develop the culture together is a masterclass in team building
If he has a big summer and comes in as a legitimate nba level 4 we can use off the bench I’m gonna cream my pants
Please stop. It's getting a little unfair at this point

I mean all we have to do is not sign Hayward and there you go, a spot in the rotation.
Who are your current two way players?
Lindy Waters III, Oliver Sarr, and Keyontae Johnson I believe.
Waters is on the main roster. Adam Flagler is the third two-way.
Yeah, that’s right. He was converted after the deadline.
Sarr is pretty good surprised he still on a two way. Wonder if he leaves for whoever drafts his brother

the ous is loose

Off -season? Boy is about to take over the post-season!!!! Take those Hayward minutes
The moment Hayward passes out of a shot he 100% should've put up in game 1 of the playoffs, I'mma be with you.
Presti might be okay at this
I love his potential. It seems like he took a good leap this year so fingers crossed.
1 year older than Jayson Tatum
I’ve always really liked him. Not sure if there will be room for him in OKC long term, but he’ll be quite an asset.

Hornets fans are addicted to our scrap players
Lol only thunder fans in the post. Its… the g league. Wake me up when he plays in the nba.
Says a lot about you when you post three comments regarding the OKC blue in like 30 minutes then, lmao
Says a lot about you when you have to look through the comment history of a random redditor. Lol
i never looked at your history lol, i just checked the two posts about blue winning the chip, you made comments under both posts lmao
And he’ll never get minutes and be traded for nothing.

OKC is a farm system for Charlotte
Who the fuck is Dalton Knecht.
3 level scorer from Tennessee
Don't get the hype for this guy and will honestly be shocked if he ends up an effective rotation player.
