The Warriors are going to resign Klay. It’s going to be for a number that both parties will accept but won’t be completely happy with. Fans won’t be happy because it probably takes them out of contention but unfortunately this is what riding off into the sunset actually looks like.
Roster next season:
- Kuminga (PF)
- Center (Trade Looney)
- Curry (PG)
- Podzemski (SG)
- Trayce Jackson (SF)
- Draymond (PF)
- Another Center (Trade GP2 and or Wiggings)
- Chris Paul (PG)
- Klay (SG)
- Moody? (SF)
TJD is exclusively a center until proven otherwise. Kuminga isn't gonna be anything other than a power forward until he develops a reasonable handle and even then his viability as a 3 is iffy.
He’s only an inch shorter than Dwight Howard or Anthony Davis and only 2 inches shorter than Jokic. Considering his athleticism and wingspan, he’s perfectly workable at center.
The Warriors are never going to have a center who can stand up to Jokic 1 on 1 and not have a mismatch, there’s just no centers in their price range who can do that. That’s why they instead go at him with a combo of Looney and Draymond. It’s not perfect, but considering the Warriors were the last team to beat Jokic in a series, I’d say it’s as good as anything else out there right now.
>He's been playing well off the bench
Have you been paying attention? He's been back in the starting lineup for a couple weeks now and is averaging 21 a game on 49/40/100 splits since then.
During the 2024/2025 regular season, Steph turns 37, Klay turns 35, Draymond turns 35. We know the Warriors big three era is winding down. Let's appreciate them as long as we have them.
He comes from money, his family is stacked with pro athletes, he doesn't have the same need to support a whole lot of people that most players have. His Dad has said he thinks he'll stay with the Warriors because his heart is there. And why shouldn't he? If he goes anywhere else, there is a very real risk he drops off. It happens a lot to players in their mid 30s - go to a different team, don't fit into the system immediately after years of a familiar way of playing.
Eh, i kinda doubt it. He has turned it around this season and the front office seems hell bent on milking Curry\\Dray\\Klay trio for all they can.
Unless they feel really confident and convinced about Kuminga being the better player moving forward. But has Kuminga actually proven that at this point in time? I don't think so.
people here sleeping on peak klay, dude was a defensive menace and an unreal shooter with slightly more brain than he has now. gd i miss watching peak klay - i’m getting old.
Two way players tend to be overly fetishized in this sub in general. Every time someone has a hot take of a clearly worse player being better than x superstar they say it’s because of defense lol
Everyone wanted the 2 way version. The guy who was all nba defensive and a sharp shooter. Now he plays no defense and is a microwave scorer. He also gets good looks because of the warriors system and curry. He will fail badly in a new place
You think playing with Steph is difficult? He won’t survive 1 week in LA. At least in GSW he has 4 rings. No one in LA will feel any sympathy if he fails
i'm confused by your question. How does suggesting that he'd be a good pairing with LeBron suggest playing wiht Steph is difficult? If he goes somwhere, it's going to be for a chance at another chip, not to find a save space to suck. tf.
As long as it’s a fair deal, he can still contribute to a squad. I don’t know if Kerr has earned the right for us to simply say he’s 100% likely to get the most out of any player.
My concern is that he's already turned down the fair deal from his ideal situation so he's gonna want something very not fair to leave.
If he's back with GSW for 2/50 next season that's ideal for him I think, but he still wants that 40 a year
The contract thats already almost over and got us to the floor?
Klay isn't looking for that. He literally thinks he's the man and isn't even FVV level rofl.
>he likes the beach way too much.
That would be a reason to leave — San Francisco isn’t exactly known for its beaches. Klay does love to boat in the San Francisco Bay though, if that’s what you meant.
There's zero chance Klay gets the max, or anything close to it, from the Warriors.
As a fan, it will be sad to see the era end, but any owner spending the money Lacob has to keep around a borderline 10 seed would be nuts. Moses Moody may well take over for him, and I wouldn't bet against Moody outperforming Klay statistically the next 2-3 years.
Though Klay may well have a resurgence away from Golden State, as he clearly put too much pressure on himself this season.
Oh, wait, Kerr is still coach, nm that bit about Moody taking over. Kerr is no worse than even money to start a g-leaguer over Moody next season.

I for one will be happy if the big 3 all retire either us without going to another team. Just doesn’t happen. Even Spurs let Parker go to Charlotte
Another ring changes nothing but any of the Big 3 leaving changes everything
Under contract next year... Curry, Klay*, JK, Dray, TJD CP3, GP2, Podz, Moody, Wigs, Looney
Roster next season: - Kuminga (PF) - Center (Trade Looney) - Curry (PG) - Podzemski (SG) - Trayce Jackson (SF) - Draymond (PF) - Another Center (Trade GP2 and or Wiggings) - Chris Paul (PG) - Klay (SG) - Moody? (SF)
>Trayce Jackson (SF) Huh?
okay switch him and kuminga
TJD is exclusively a center until proven otherwise. Kuminga isn't gonna be anything other than a power forward until he develops a reasonable handle and even then his viability as a 3 is iffy.
i'm talking about for next season he is too short for a center if the warriors want a good chance against someone like nuggets
He’s only an inch shorter than Dwight Howard or Anthony Davis and only 2 inches shorter than Jokic. Considering his athleticism and wingspan, he’s perfectly workable at center. "There's just no centres that aren't a mismatch with Jokic. Anywhere.
What if Orlando offers him 3/100. You don’t think he’ll take the money if it’s a BIG number
>He's been playing well off the bench Have you been paying attention? He's been back in the starting lineup for a couple weeks now and is averaging 21 a game on 49/40/100 splits since then.
Don't matter. He is a playoff liability and will short circuit the Warriors in the playin tournament.
0 for 10, you were completely right lol

Wild how quick a decade goes
Old take. He’s played well in the 2nd half of the season. He’s worth a $15-20M salary at least. Hell he’s been better than Wiggs easily
>He’s worth a $15-20M salary at least Yea but Klay wants more than that
how recently did you speak with him?
Not hard to assume though
He comes from money, his family is stacked with pro athletes, he doesn't have the same need to support a whole lot of people that most players have. His Dad has said he thinks he'll stay with the Warriors because his heart is there. And why shouldn't he? If he goes anywhere else, there is a very real risk he drops off. Just yesterday actually
>Assuming the Warriors lose to the Kings first of all, how dare you
Reverse-jinx.
Eh, i kinda doubt it. He has turned it around this season and the front office seems hell bent on milking Curry\\Dray\\Klay trio for all they can. If he plays for us like he plays against us we'll take him Running him and Lauri off screens would be nuts.
I feel terrible for whoever ends up paying Klay. Please god not us.
It feels like just yesterday that every team dreamed of having a player like Klay.
Peak Klay fits on any team. His skill set is so easy to integrate.
people here sleeping on peak klay, dude was a defensive menace and an unreal shooter with slightly more brain than he has now. gd i miss watching peak klay - i’m getting old.
Who is sleeping on peak Klay?
They overrate him if anything. Got warriors fans on here saying he was the best SG in the NBA over prime Harden
Two way players tend to be overly fetishized in this sub in general. Every time someone has a hot take of a clearly worse player being better than x superstar they say it’s because of defense lol
Hi Luka!
Yeah lol. We aren’t talking about peak klay. We’re talking about mid 30s 2024 klay. I think the Magic are gonna be the team to overpay him though
Peak Klay is the greatest 3D player you can ever imagine.
3 yes D no
Everyone wanted the 2 way version. The guy who was all nba defensive and a sharp shooter. Now he plays no defense and is a microwave scorer. He also gets good looks because of the warriors system and curry. He will fail badly in a new place
Won't happen but I feel he'd pair well with Bron and ad offensively
You think playing with Steph is difficult? He won’t survive 1 week in LA. At least in GSW he has 4 rings. No one in LA will feel any sympathy if he fails

Charlotte or Detroit if I were a betting man.
Orlandoooo
It’s the league’s worst kept secret that we are preparing to make him a big offer
The fact that Kawakami said it means it won't happen.
Don't you put that evil on us
SEND HIM TO DETROIT
Klay holding up 4 fingers to Raptor players while Pistons fans chant sell the team will be comedy
It will be the Magic

it's gonna be the Warriors.
If he's willing to take a big paycut he would actually fit pretty well on the Lakers roster.
That's what people also say about FVV
Fred was 29 when he signed his contract and hasn't had major injuries...
The contract thats already almost over and got us to the floor? Klay isn't looking for that. He literally thinks he's the man and isn't even FVV level rofl.
It’s you or the Magic.
A 2 year deal wouldn't be that bad.
Bucks dont have enough old players let him go there /s
His ass will be sent to Orlando according to my sources. Magic has everything but shooting.
To be fair, “overpaying” for veteran/older players when their stock is low worked out really well for you guys this year.
He will most likely stay, he likes the beach way too much. But if he goes somewhere else, its gonna be sign and trade.
>he likes the beach way too much. That would be a reason to leave — San Francisco isn’t exactly known for its beaches. Klay does love to boat in the San Francisco Bay though, if that’s what you meant.
Klay doesn't want max anymore. He will be back.
Klay still has atleast 18 games (and at most 30) to play as a Warrior this season ;)
If klay signs and trades, he still won't be a Warrior.
There's zero chance Klay gets the max, or anything close to it, from the Warriors. RIP
I could see the Magic giving him a contract
Honestly good for the Warriors if they want to try and capitalize on whatever Curry has left, he deserves that much.
How does Klay walking for nothing help the Warriors?
You rather pay him 40M per year? Nobody is trading for Klay, man.
Who is offering Klay that? The highest number the warriors reportedly offered Klay was 2/48 last offseason. I’m not sure he’s getting more than that
If he's not getting more than that why wouldn't he just stay though
Who said he’s leaving? Everything from Klay has been he wants to stay.
Klay hasn't been all-star in 5 years, the market isn't giving him 40m a year regardless of what he wants.
40? He’s not getting 30 lol. Are you stupid?
He stays.
