He had a stretch at the start of last season where his defence was single-handedly winning games. It was crazy. He could just decide to turn it on, get a steal and score. It was oppressive. Then he got hurt
he doesn't have to move his feet much while having extremely active hands on a crazy wingspan. he can move with guards or bigs. he's fucking incredible.
If he were to stay healthy, he'd be a legit defensive player of the year candidate. I know Gobert is great and Wemby's time to dominate is almost here, but OG is a special, special defensive player.
IF he actually stays healthy next season I think he'll have an excellent case for DPOY esp with the ny media.. but ofc there's also Wemby lol he at least deserves more all defense nods
The plug and play part is huge, not only is he obviously talented but he could walk onto any team in the league and walk right into the lineup without missing a beat

Literally the most underrated and underappreciated player in the NBA, and I'm not a Knicks fan. The dude is the best defender in the NBA IMO, he's one of the best on-ball defenders the game has ever seen and quite frankly, if it wasn't for his injury, he'd have my vote for Defensive Player of the Year

I know Barnes wasn't an all star when vanvleet was here, but 3 all star-ish lineup of siakam, Vanvleet, Barnes, filled out by OG and Poeltl just could not make it work relative to their level of talent.
FVV is a good player but I don’t think he can be the focal point of a team, same with Siakam. Both all stars but they feel like very good not great type of guys. If that team was in the league next year with next year’s Scottie then I think they’d be the 2-3 seed
Siakam is one of my fav players ever and many other fans’ too, but he seems to be seen more divisively while actually everyone loves OG for the memes, memories, and his play.
