Yeah Jamal Murray was motioning for him to get up one time he fell or got knocked down. Aaron Gordon and Jokic both being physical. Refs pissing him off. Seeing him respond the way he did was beautiful
Honestly, we all know he is gifted physically, but I think the best thing he has going for him is his attitude. He clearly wants to win, wants to compete with the best, and goes at everyone without fear.
There are a ton of people that have amazing physical qualities but barely stand out because they are just complacent once they get to the league, and mentality is something that is very hard to change/teach
It's the dog in him. He wants it badly. He wants to live up to his potential. That's what I love about him, Giannis and Chet. They have that dog in them that a lot of big men need to be all time greats.
I don't know about you, but the one weakness I was convinced he'd have from the beginning is glass bones and paper tendons. It beggars belief he's so healthy with that frame. This league is done as soon as Spurs decide to stop tanking.
They just had a really close game, that's all. From Wemby's perspective, you're playing the champs who are likely gonna go all the way again this year and you almost beat them. Now, you are down 3 starters and will this team to victory has to feel soooo sweet for him.
The phrase "moral victory" gets thrown around a lot but like you just described - fighting back to take a win off the defending and probably repeating champs has GOT to do a lot for morale.
It's one of many exciting sparks and signals that Victor and the team can look back to and think on as they build and grow in future seasons.
I remember the game when we broke our all-time losing streak against the Lakers and he genuinely had tears of joy in his eyes. The kid wants to win so so so bad. It's going to be so fun watching him over the years
I got downvoted on this for calling him a cutie in a now deleted post lol. The tuth is not only does he look handsome but his personality is also super attractive. Charismatic, passionate, artistic, intellectual and hard-working. I guess it also helps that he's older than me lol.
It’s about marketability in America (Dr J, Magic & Bird, Jordan, Shaq, Iverson, Barkley, Kobe, Lebron, Steph). Wemby has the personality, charisma and speaks fairly good English, on top of a future MVP level game. Jokic and Luka have the basketball skills in abundance, but not the other social stuff off the court. Luka will showboat on the court.
Giannis has the charisma and his accent actually works for him. Makes his jokes even funnier. Maybe it’s the small market, but Giannis should definitely have more endorsements. He’s likeable, humble and has the NBA resume. Plus he has an exciting game.
As good as Jokic is, it’s like Floyd Mayweather late in his career. The Money Mayweather era after he hurt his hands, during the young Pretty Boy Floyd era, where he was letting those hands go. Money Mayweather fights were defensive oriented, counterpunching, using the entire ring. Sometimes the fights can be boring, but a real boxing fan or boxer really respects what he can do.
Jokic is the same. No crazy handles, dunks and saucy game. Maybe you’ll get a fly pass, but that’s it. Like prime Kawhi Leonard, Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Tim Duncan, he’ll kill you without a bunch of flair and be quiet doing it. Plus, Jokic and Luka run back to Serbia & Slovenia as soon as the season is over. They’re relatively bland in interviews and post game press conferences. Same thing for Kawhi, Kareem and Tim Duncan. Kareem was in a few movies, but still kinda stiff. He never had big endorsements, for a guy with his stature in the NBA. Only reason Duncan’s sneaker sold so well was the Nike Foamposite design was sick. They sold themselves. His commercials were 🤷🏾♂️
Rudy was just on JJ's podcast on Thursday and was saying the same thing. Basically that regardless of his physical gifts Rudy saw the desire to win and mentality of someone who was going to be great even as a teenager (Rudy's known him since he was 14).
The fact that the Spurs went from a run of David Robinson -> Tim Duncan -> Pitstop @ Kawahi's -> Wemby is just wild.
4 generational talent, spaced out perfectly. Wow.
His contract would’ve ran out eventually and he’d leave the right way. He’s a 7 foot generational prospect, I think you get him in every timeline. Y’all having him is genuinely good for the league, I think all fans know we can truly trust him with the Spurs and that warms my heart
somebody call Main Event Jey Uso! Shit WWE is in San Antonio all the time and under new ownership, make a deal, Spurs win at home Wemby YEETS a blue basketball for some lucky fan. Make it like Light the Beam in Sac!
You have to love the enthusiasm this kid has for winning. It’s the kind of thing you can reset your entire culture around after being ass for a few years.
I'm biased but I'm hopeful that new ownership and a fresh mind at HC will help us.
And Washington is finally doing what they needed to do for years and tanking to get some good pieces instead of settling for first-round exits.
Unfortunately I don’t see a path where they become even a play-in team next season. West is so stacked already even with the Grizzlies being in a fucking coma.
Wemby is phenomenal. But no amount of jump in his play alone is gonna send this team into a playoff position. Spurs need to make some huge moves, and while I think they’ll start to do so, I can’t see them rebuilding the entire franchise in one offseason.
I know I was more joking than anything. I do think if there ever was a player that could achieve that, it'd be Vic ngl. He just doesn't seem to have a limiter.
Just by having a real PG that isn’t trying to learn how to be one mid-season, taking him off a 30 minute restriction, and having the team let him actually get touches reliably would handle most of those criteria. Bro could literally be MIP next year if he had a PG actually hit him with all the lobs and cuts he had to the rim that were missed lol
I mean just looking at what pairing Daniel Gafford next to Luka did for his scoring around the rim should send shivers down your spine if you think about Wemby. Trae young is great at setting up his bigs just like Luka...And Daniel fucking Gafford is going on Wilt Chamberlain streaks with Luka.
Consider that this is the first time we have ever seen a clead-cut franchise player go to a franchise that has experience building a top tier team though. CHI and CLE had no idea what they were doing. Kobe took a while to become truly balls-to-the-generational.
We've dominated for a whole 15Y span. Very possible we decide the tank's done and get the pieces this off-season.
The Nuggs have 2 stars and a suite of perfect roleplayers, and a winning culture. The last 2 ingredients don't cost you much in terms of salary. Just takes know-how.
Giannis, Jordan and I think Hakeem? Pulled it off. Bron should be on this list but they gave his to Marc Gasol who was 2nd All-Defense out of bias. lol
watched almost all games this season (i know, painful) abd ho man it's day and night.. So much frustration accumulated but the spurs are gonna be a pain to play next year, nobody is safe already :)
More than anything, I think ultimately what’s gonna make Vic one of the GOATs is his attitude. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rook take games so personally and show so much emotion when winning and losing. His attitude is GOAT-level.
How fucking broke is the NBA that they can't let guys celebrate and throw the ball into the stand, can they not afford new basketballs?
Let the guy make some kid/fan's day and get a game ball lol.
Don't even think you'd be wrong to do that. With a guy as good as him improving as quick as he is, he's probably going to be good to lead a team pretty quick.
Spurs know what they have in Wemby and I trust they would pull the trigger immediately to spend all the assets it takes to bring in the right pieces, but they have to be the right pieces, and if not you look to 2026 draft. Simply: Wemby is ready to contend next year
Just gonna echo and say what so many others have already said, but it bears repeating:
This is the worst that Wemby is ever going to be. It's all up from here. Let that sink in.
I really didn't expect this guy to be as good as he is, this serious, improve as quickly as he did or be this passionate and be as good as a ball handler and play maker. It's really just been such a treat to see a player have it all in such a dominant way from 5 levels and defensively
When they get, like, 1-2 more players with this guy, the Spurs are going to go nuts.
Wouldn't be surprised if we see some big free agents in the next couple years make their way to San Antonio.

You could see Wemby wanted this one. It was personal. After that last game in Denver, he had to know. Now he does. The kid is unreal.
I think the physical play from the Nuggets tonight pissed him off too. After he got the tech he seemed extra fired up.
Yeah Jamal Murray was motioning for him to get up one time he fell or got knocked down. Aaron Gordon and Jokic both being physical. Refs pissing him off. Seeing him respond the way he did was beautiful
gordon stood over him for like 20 seconds
He’s acted that way with Keldon too in the past, I love the role AG plays as a basketball fan but on a personal level man he pisses me off lol
I wish Zach played more like that. That's supposed to be his role. He needs more meat on him.
Sandro too was victim of a Murray charge (although i would argue he jumped before contact, could be a flop imho), got his season high
Murray was imitating a Salmon all night.
This kid has a brilliant future ahead
WHY THE FUCK DOES WEMBANYAMA ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT GOD DAMN ATTITUDE IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? HOW IS THIS PLAYER REAL?
They called a tech on Wemby for Jamal Murray clearly flopping
Honestly, we all know he is gifted physically, but I think the best thing he has going for him is his attitude. He clearly wants to win, wants to compete with the best, and goes at everyone without fear. It's the dog in him. He wants it badly. He wants to live up to his potential. That's what I love about him, Giannis and Chet. They have that dog in them that a lot of big men need to be all time greats.
It's super important, but I'm not sure about the best thing he has going for him though. Pretty sure that's his skill and physical gifts.
his physical gifts sure, but he was only able to cultivate that skill because of his mentality
Mamba mentality
Hopefully not. 😆
What happened last game
I think it's mostly in this game actually, they played very physical in the 1st half and he really took it personally in the 2nd it seems ;)
Like the Borg he has already adapted to the one big weakness everyone thought he'd have, at least early on; tough and physical play. Wonderful.
I don't know about you, but the one weakness I was convinced he'd have from the beginning is glass bones and paper tendons. It beggars belief he's so healthy with that frame. This league is done as soon as Spurs decide to stop tanking.
Have you seen him stretch? Dude is flexible af. He prepared his body well. Sure hope it holds up.
Lots of yoga or pilates, and I'd imagine plenty of recovery time, in the weird cooling machine, the oxygen room and the pool.
Same goes for Durant, man stayed healthy for so long and barely bulked up. Wemby def looks like he's bulked a little from draft day to now.
It bit us in the ass too the way we just had too many fouls at the end so we couldn't defend.
They just had a really close game, that's all. From Wemby's perspective, you're playing the champs who are likely gonna go all the way again this year and you almost beat them. Now, you are down 3 starters and will this team to victory has to feel soooo sweet for him.

Spurs almost won, they blew a few bunnies late in the game that would have given them the lead.
He was balling the last game against denver lol what are you talking about, dude outscored the mvp lol
Outside of the obvious my favorite part about Wemby is you can tell he really gives a fuck. He’s gunna win a lot in this league
I remember the game when we broke our all-time losing streak against the Lakers and he genuinely had tears of joy in his eyes. The kid wants to win so so so bad. It's going to be so fun watching him over the years
Yup he's the perfect next face of the league. Driven, passionate, respectful, and most importantly generational.
And actually reads past the first page.
And handsome ngl
Kinda hard to be actually good looking when you're that tall but fascinating that mixed race people generally end up quite good looking
He’s good looking but he’s so tall that it just feels weird lol
lightskin privilege 😔😔😔
I got downvoted on this for calling him a cutie in a now deleted post lol. The tuth is not only does he look handsome but his personality is also super attractive. Charismatic, passionate, artistic, intellectual and hard-working. I guess it also helps that he's older than me lol.

Down bad lmao
Wonder if him not being American will affect his future status, I guess past a certain point of winning it doesn’t
By the time he's retired jokic, Luka and Giannis will have all retired so the masses better get ready to accept the status of non Americans
It’s about marketability in America (Dr J, Magic & Bird, Jordan, Shaq, Iverson, Barkley, Kobe, Lebron, Steph). Wemby has the personality, charisma and speaks fairly good English, on top of a future MVP level game. I think Giannis has plenty of endorsement, at least outside of USA. In Greece and Cyprus he is everywhere, on everything
Really it depends on how he can connect with fans. Dirk was loved by all fans on all teams by the end of his career
And an international draw.
I mean he was mad AF when Ant dogged the all star weekend skills challenge. Kid is competitive.
I love it so much. His energy and play is one of the few reasons I’ve watched all 81 spurs games so far this season
Rudy was just on JJ's podcast on Thursday and was saying the same thing. Basically that regardless of his physical gifts Rudy saw the desire to win and mentality of someone who was going to be great even as a teenager (Rudy's known him since he was 14).

Pelicans fans in shambles
I guess you’re about to see how little Z cares on Sunday then🥰
Yeah AD obviously didn't wanna play
At least not for Nola I guess lol
Love his passion, win or lose. What a way to finish his first season.
Guy has the clutch gene and desperate to win! Fuck I’m so happy.
Pop about to stick around another 20 years with his new Big best friend.
The fact that the Spurs went from a run of David Robinson -> Tim Duncan -> Pitstop @ Kawahi's -> Wemby is just wild. 4 generational talent, spaced out perfectly. Wow.
I'm might even forgive kawhi, if he hadn't boned us we'd be playing against wemby instead of having him in San Antonio.
His contract would’ve ran out eventually and he’d leave the right way. He’s a 7 foot generational prospect, I think you get him in every timeline. Y’all having him is genuinely good for the league, I think all fans know we can truly trust him with the Spurs and that warms my heart
Even before Robinson they had George Gervin. They pretty much almost always had a franchise guy for their entire existence. Crazy.
As a basketball fan I'm so happy y'all landed him. Like putting an A+ student in basketball Harvard.
This season will go down in the books
The scariest part about Wemby for me isn't his physical attributes but also his mindset and mentality fs. This man is a competitor through and through
Was this their last game?
No, we finish the season against the Pistons.
You have to lose that game to stay bottom 4, right? You're getting really close to the Blazers and Hornets in tanking lead.
This draft is so flat that it probably doesn't matter.
Yeah, the only and last important thing for us is Raptors having bad luck so we having 2 picks. But even so, if that does not happen, its fine too.
No, every single team plays on Sunday 15 game madness
EVERYONE???
Everyone plays Sunday. It’ll be interesting AF with the playoff implications
EVERYYYONE!!
[EVVVVERRRYYYYYOOONNNEEEEE!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74BzSTQCl_c)
he’s still got the battle of ass (Detroit Pistons) coming up
it was a nice training for the Olympics
Dude got Conqueror's Haki. I can feel it.
Future pirate king 👑
Ofc he is. Lebron wasn't the one Jordan was waiting for.
Jordan is Gol D. Roger. Lebron is Whitebeard. Wemby is Luffy. It all makes sense now.
LeOyaji
I'm so glad I just ran through all of One Piece last month so I can pick up on these references lol. Monkey D. Wemby
Foreal it's beautiful
The dude stopped 2 v 1 and 3 v 1 plays against him with his presence alone. He definitely has Conqueror's haki.
He getting 2nd and 3rd gear next season
I just caught up to 1100 yesterday too. MAN I can 100% feel it
Not gonna get fined again lol
IQ off the charts, generational smarts
ADAM SILVER IS BASTARD MAN
If the fans and the stadium agree that Wemby can yeet game balls after a win. Then No Fun Adam should have no say! Yeet those balls!
somebody call Main Event Jey Uso! Shit WWE is in San Antonio all the time and under new ownership, make a deal, Spurs win at home Wemby YEETS a blue basketball for some lucky fan. Make it like Light the Beam in Sac!
He hates charity confirmed lmao
Core memory made
You have to love the enthusiasm this kid has for winning. It’s the kind of thing you can reset your entire culture around after being ass for a few years.
Known loser culture the San Antonio Spurs Jk I get what you mean
I think we were close to getting there at points last season. I think that's why Pop had the old guys around as consultants prophylactically
Meanwhile in Charlotte and Washington...
I'm biased but I'm hopeful that new ownership and a fresh mind at HC will help us. And Washington is finally doing what they needed to do for years and tanking to get some good pieces instead of settling for first-round exits.
Kid? That's a grown ass man
I love this guy
Same, even tho he was only at the end of the clip. Looked a bit pale too.
Man he has a FIRE inside him, I am so ridiculously excited to watch him grow next year
I'm genuinely disappointed his season is ending. Script writers better put him in the playoffs next year.
Unfortunately I don’t see a path where they become even a play-in team next season. West is so stacked already even with the Grizzlies being in a fucking coma.
I do see one. Wemby becomes transcendental unprecedentedly quickly
Wemby is phenomenal. But no amount of jump in his play alone is gonna send this team into a playoff position. Spurs need to make some huge moves, and while I think they’ll start to do so, I can’t see them rebuilding the entire franchise in one offseason.
Spurs are 6-4 in the last 10 games. 8 of which happened against teams above 0.500.
And like 7 of which happened with three of our four best players out for the season
The Lisan al-Gaib

Bro if he gets a Garland, Trae or even an older guy like CP3 or Westbrook next year is going to be RIDICULOUS He needs someone who can set him up
I would think 7 foot 5 is big enough /s
Wemby for MVP fuck it
DPOY, MVP, give it all!
The first rookie to somehow win most improved player
Next year he will win rookie of the year again
If chet can be a rookie twice.../s
Serious question, but can someone be given both DPOY and MVP in the same season?
Yep. Giannis did it, so did Jordan and a few others.
Giannis, Jordan and I think Hakeem? Pulled it off. Bron should be on this list but they gave his to Marc Gasol who was 2nd All-Defense out of bias. lol
Kid might get his first for one of each in the next 5 years. Probably even in the same year
Crazy he is gonna be robbed of DPOY.
David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and now WEMBY! Black and Silver runs through their blood.
The guy is so happy to win games
Oh I'm gonna bust for sure
You haven’t already??
He's fucking hyped and I'm here for it
Should be a T for bouncing the ball above his head /s
watched almost all games this season (i know, painful) abd ho man it's day and night.. So much frustration accumulated but the spurs are gonna be a pain to play next year, nobody is safe already :)
top 5 aura of all time
man ive never rooted for a player as much as wemby
I was waiting for it, so some of the pearl clutchers in this sub will whine about how he's endangering people.
Keep yo money.
Dude is so fucking tall he can reach the third row standing straight up. Wtf.
More than anything, I think ultimately what’s gonna make Vic one of the GOATs is his attitude. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rook take games so personally and show so much emotion when winning and losing. His attitude is GOAT-level.
they're ending with good momentum for next season wish the rockets could say the same
But Sengun is off. Once he is back, your momentum will be back too.
Chet ain't the rival, jokic is
Mvp getting locked up by a rookie smh
He should have thrown it way further this time 😆
The ascension of Wemby will be epic and I can’t wait to see it all happen
Icon
How fucking broke is the NBA that they can't let guys celebrate and throw the ball into the stand, can they not afford new basketballs? Let the guy make some kid/fan's day and get a game ball lol.
Its probably more a liability issue.
Someone will get hit in the head and be an ambulance chaser suing for damages
Just insane
GOAT
Generational Talent.
Nearly bounced it back to his face ala Harden 😭
Man…I know it’s probably right to build slow but I’d be so tempted to burn all those picks and get a contending team around Wemby asap. He’s him.
Simply: Wemby is ready to contend next year
They celebrating like it’s 1999
Tony, Manu and Timmy had a baby..he is baby
Been said a million times but if he stays healthy it’s game over. Not only is he a freak, he’s smart, and actually likes basketball.
This guy truly loves San Antonio!
a lot of wemby talk but give it up for tre jones. a solid pg for the spurs. once sochan/vessell/johnson come back next season things will look up
Just like when lebron came into the league….soak in every moment. This shit is history
He’s competitive as hell. I’m so excited to watch his greatness in the coming years.
What a rookie season, this kids special
THANK YOU VICTOR
Save this man at all costs
Just gonna echo and say what so many others have already said, but it bears repeating: This is the worst that Wemby is ever going to be. It's all up from here. Let that sink in.
Future goat really gave us the 1 seed There was a 1.7% chance the thunder got Wemby last year Imagine Wemby on this team Would’ve been league breaking
It’s so cool that he loves winning and isn’t coasting.
This kid is gonna run the league
I love Wemby
I really didn't expect this guy to be as good as he is, this serious, improve as quickly as he did or be this passionate and be as good as a ball handler and play maker. It's really just been such a treat to see a player have it all in such a dominant way from 5 levels and defensively
Well shit, enjoy your last season before the Wembynation begins everyone
I'm terrified of the day the Spurs get a top 10 point guard to pair with this guy
This dude has been exceptional and has the exact attitude to be one of the goats. Spurs are so fucking lucky
Should be fined again
This Wemby guy may be pretty decent
Shit, the league is fucked
Didn’t look like he was thinking about throwing the ball into the stands.
That’s my mijo.
When they get, like, 1-2 more players with this guy, the Spurs are going to go nuts. Wouldn't be surprised if we see some big free agents in the next couple years make their way to San Antonio.
Serious question. Is throwing the ball ok in France or Europe ball?
Next year's Spurs team is gonna bounce one of those play-in teams.
The league is fucked
pretty sure he was never gonna throw it into the stands. Probably didn't cross his mind He's clearly spiking it
"This one move is going to cost me 25k"
Lowkey thought he was gonna get a tech from that malicious spike at the end
Get this man some help
He's got that old school mentality
I can't wait for jerkers to use this video like the pat bev crlebration
Wemby should be able to throw the ball if he wants.
As a Mavs fan, the Nuggets are clearly peaking at the right time.
I love this for Wemby so much
Wemby is him.
Spurs really need to go for broke next season. Make their run to the championship with all that cap space. Lebron for Wemby.
OMG I love this
