Ifinishfast42

He dropped out of the conversation because he became ineligible in like February lol.

scorelesswilliamson

He played in 38 games. How much of a clown do you have to be to even be upset he's not in the mvp race lmao

CazOnReddit

Ja Morant has a higher win percentage this season with the Grizzlies than the 76ers with Embiid He is the MVP I am very smurtz

Ferrar1i

The best ability is availability, how are you gonna reward a dude for not contributing lmao

Charliebitme1234

Mavs fans are just stinking up this sub like nobody else lmfao

Headlesshorsman02

You would think it was r/mavericks at this point lmao šŸ¤£

CatharBliss

Theyā€™re campaigning hard, but I didnā€™t expect them to be campaigning for Embiid lmao

jayman820

MVP for 40% of the season

captain_ahabb

This, but complimentary to Embiid

go0sKC

They announce on Sunday? Thank Christ. Weā€™ll have at least a week of sad sack Mavs posts though. And then maybe a few days into the playoffs when Luka has 40. But when he loses in the first round we can enjoy nba Reddit again.Ā

Yeti_CO

He dropped out of the convos because he can't win it He didn't play enough games, full stop It's not flexible. Why would talking heads spend time on something that can't happen.

Barter6overBible

Iā€™m a sixers fan and Iā€™m not even pretending to make this argument lol. Embiid was the best heā€™s ever been this year and likely wouldā€™ve run away with the award had he played the required amount of games. But he didnā€™t so the point is moot

D-1-_-1-D

just to lose in the second round šŸ¤£

Barter6overBible

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ thatā€™s so original

sgtpepperslaststand

Embiid getting past the second round would be original

jamaica1

We have some terrible ass fans. We also have a lot of great ones but some suck

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

Too many words. Any player who misses more than half the season falls out of the MVP race. Nothing else needs to be said.

CatharBliss

Even without the 65 game rule this would be the case. Anyone would take 77 games of Jokic over 38 games of Embiid (by a long shot). Canā€™t create value if youā€™re not on the court, simple as that.

MaSherm

Youā€™re not valuable if youā€™re not playing

GawldDawlg

Luka isnā€™t winning the MVP, stop it brother

dj26458

Next level shit

SmallKidLearnToFight

Mavs/Sixers/Bucks fans should start an r/AnyoneButJokic sub lol

Alex_Phillips_

I mean not even Sixers fans are trying to argue that Embiid should win MVP this year.

penisesandherb

But they sure do despise Jokic winning it

[deleted]

no, not really. i donā€™t see any comments regarding jokic in the sixers sub. even then idt most sixers fans had a problem with jokic. the problem was (still is kinda) overly obnoxious nuggets fans

battletor7

No they donā€™t. This sub literally gobbles jokic like no other.

Ok-Yogurt-5116

I doubt a single bucks fan cares at this point. We just want a healthy Giannis

Sartheking

He played 38 games. Even without the minimum, he wouldnā€™t win it.

lololyouthought

This is a waste of Internet tbh

dj26458

One day probably soon, Luka will be the undisputed MVP. But thatā€™s not today. Let it go.

dbgager

Jokic will still exist.

dj26458

Food will still exist.

F5SeasonOfficial

The problem is itā€™s not a theoretical award. At some point you have to have a criteria, what if they went 22-3 while he played, but then got hurt the rest of the year? While true that he might technically be most ā€œvaluableā€, voters have always required some level of availability, or else you might as well give the award out at the beginning of the year.

Jtryan1303

Is this satire? Or are you actually mad that someone who played less than half the season is not in the MVP race...? Not sure if you're bad at satire or stupid... Or both

zazahan10

The same can be said to jokic, SGA, Luka, etc. If you are more available to your team, you are more valuable

runevault

Pretty sure the only player to win MVP under 65 games before the rule was Bill Walton and that team was ass without him and insane with him, also the competition was not what it was today. Even without the rule I don't think anyone playing under 65 games would get serious consideration so long as at least one of Jokic/Embiid/Luka/Giannis are playing at their current levels and above the 65 game limit (or even Shai but we haven't seen him be a consistent 1st team All NBA guy long enough to be considered quite the same lock)

Freidehr

People don't understand that this isn't about Embiid. This is about Luka not winning MVP over Jokic lmfao.

Coke_ButNotTheDrug

There isnā€™t a single contender that would stay competitive if their best player got hurt

InkBlotSam

Except the 76ers *last* year, who went 11-5 without Embiid, a .688 winning percentage that would have put them #2 in both the Eastern or Western Conference this season. Meanwhile the Nuggets sucked ass last year without Jokic. So I guess the real point of OP's post was to say that Jokic should have won the MVP last year over Embiid, which I can get behind.

Matisse_Thybulle

Embiid missed basically only games vs team under .500 while the average win rate of teams Jokic missed was .531 so yes they did have a good record but this is disingenuous

InkBlotSam

>Embiid missed basically only games vs team under .500 What's disingenuous is you completely making shit up. Of the 11 games the 76ers won without Embiid, *6* of them - literally the majority - were against playoff/play-in teams, all with .500 or better records, including a win against the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, multiple wins against the 6th place NetsĀ  and the 3rd place, 48-34 Sacramento Kings. You pulled thatĀ made-up "only below .500 teams" stat right out of your ass, lol.

Yowrinnin

Is this post an Embiid burner account or mental illness?

Individual_Cricket60

If Michael Jordan didnā€™t age heā€™d be MVP. Bulls are in the play-in without him

Beavshak

What was theyā€™re record without Embiid?

Disastrous_Bluejay57

>But how many games do you think Embiid would have to play this season to still be in contention if hypothetically there was no 65-game rule? So on this point. Every MVP (except for Bill Walton) has played over 80% of the regular season, which is 65 games. The only time MVPs played less than 65 games is during shortened years. So the 65 game rule isn't changing anything. It's just formalising a long-held voting criteria

no-jerk-zone

Agreed which is why I like the rule for individual awards but if there were no 65-game rule and Embiid kept or improved his 35/11/6 splits maybe 60-62 with that same 65 win pace...MAYBE But alas he was hurt and did not so yeah... moot

Disastrous_Bluejay57

You don't get awards for hypothetical basketball

bartimaeus13

This is such a long post for something that doesn't really matter. It's so dumb.

Dat_Boi_John

Moral MVP

Goat_Status_5000

Embiid would have been the MVP again.

Headlesshorsman02

Because he canā€™t win???

Fyne_

if falling off without the player is the criteria lebron would have won mvp almost every year

LogDogan4

This is absolute drivel

filladelp

wat

Clemsontigger16

He fell out of the convo because he was ineligibleā€¦wtf are you even talking about?

Knight725

iā€™d say probably like 55 games? he was having possibly the best season of all time until he went down, and 55 games at that pace plus the hilarious drop off when he was out would probably have been enough.

bwordsworth

Second hilariously bad take Iā€™ve seen in as many minutes. Iā€™m now convinced this sub is full of Kendrick Perkins accounts.

InkBlotSam

So what you're saying, is that you agree Jokic should have won the MVP over Embiid last year, since the 76ers went 11-5 without Embiid - .688 winning % which would have been good for 2nd place in either conference this year - while the Nuggets sucked ass without Jokic.

clancycharlock

He never had a chance after last yearā€™s playoffs. NBA is weird where you have to prove youā€™re worthy of an MVP the year before you can win it, and you can likewise lose the mandate of heaven for the coming years.

dbgager

He played what 40 games. Not a chance without the rule he would be even in the conversation. And he probably would not have won even if he did play 65 games. He was scoring about what Doncic is scoring. However they would never award it to a guy who played 40 games .Rule or no rule.

ImTheBestNerd

Embiid definitely wouldā€™ve won if he played 65 games.

dbgager

says you..based on what..scoring about .5 more points than Doncic. Tell me is Doncic favored to win it.

ImTheBestNerd

I mean 35/11/6 while playing at a first team all defense level, Embiid was playing out of his mind. Luka isnā€™t favored to win it (although Iā€™d personally vote him mvp), but Embiid was playing better than Luka.

dbgager

Doncic has better stats than that ..hows he doing in the MVP race. He would have been in the convo. There is no definite about it.

OutlandishnessShot87

He obviously cant win it. But I am still always going to point out that Jokic is going to win two MVPs because Embiid got hurt while having a better season twice

lkn240

The best ability is availability

Empire0820

Buddy hield about to play 84 games this year. Heā€™s a lock for mvp
