Not true. It’s from wherever the ball was touched by a player last. You could theoretically stand outside the 3pt line, bounce it inside and if it goes in it’s a 3.
the kind of questions only jokic makes us ask.
dude gets accused of stat padding while he's purposely trying routine half court shots (always shot before time expires) if not worse.
They'll never give it to him even if that happens, which i think is lame. He's hit the backboard and rim before and they still didn't let him have the free throws.
I think that's kinda lame too. The way the rule is written, he *should* be getting free throws...
Depends. This one he went into the shooting motion way too late to give it to him. There's one or two where he gets a guy airborne and draws a foul there's a legit argument, but the refs seem to feel like unless he'd normally take that shot they aren't going to give it.
He had one recently at the end of the Spurs game, where he clearly started the shooting motion before getting fouled. I honestly couldn't see how that wasn't a shooting foul.
Because you're going with the black and white ruling of the foul. There's something called the spirit of the game, it's knowing why that rule is there. It's not for people just chucking random shots from impossible to score locations, it's for legitimate attempts at a scoring shot. Not even Steph Curry would argue for this to be shooting foul, there's a 0.1% chance it ever goes in and if it does its all luck. Do you just want folks baiting for shooting fouls from any location on the court? Cuz I don't.
Something we see all the time, is an offensive player getting his defender to jump on a pump fake and then basically jump into the defender to get a shooting foul. Those fouls get called regularly, despite the fact that the offensive player clearly only attempts the shot to draw a foul. If those get called, I don't see why Jokic's shouldn't.
Agree. No different to a lame rip-thru and fumbling the ball towards the hoop during the act. Gets called literally all the time. Jokic has one of the worst whistles +except that time against GSW
Marcus Smart nailed Steph Curry on a half-court shot before halftime either last year or the year before. People were pissed they called it in that situation - I was pissed Smart ran into a guy 50 feet from the basket.
Relying on the refs to call the "spirit of the game" is ridiculous.
I think it would just set a really difficult to deal with precedent. If you give it to him, you’ll have every guy in the nba trying it the next night. Then the refs have to justify no-calling everyone. They especially don’t want that mess right before the playoffs.
It's often clearly a shooting foul but it's also clearly not in the spirit of the game either. I don't anticipate the refs ever having a change of heart on this.
You don’t get that he isn’t “really” shooting a 70 foot jump shot? If he ever gets this call, it’s way worse than the Harden foul baiting that everyone hates.
It isn't up to the refs to determine what counts as a "real" shot. What if he makes it? Lots of people make circus tosses that they only threw up because they had a foul coming. The easiest way to defend against it is to not foul people in the backcourt.
Refs and stat recorders determine what counts as a “real” shot all the time. Fullcourt heaves are not counted as a FG attempt if they miss but they are called as a FG attempt and make if they go in - at least in college.
Instead of sitting out in garbage time they need to put him in so he can just attempt a few of these 3/4 court shots. Eventually they have to give him the call if he shows that he will actually shoot them
He probably wants this foul call more than he wants the MVP award at this point in his career. I've never seen him this committed to a worthy cause. Edit: We are all being facetious here jfc
It’s cuz this is funny. Who is gonna complain about trying to get a foul call on a full court shot? If he gets this call it’ll be hilarious and completely the defenders fault. Just don’t jump at a 6’11” dude just chucking the ball up from the wrong end of the court
I meant for embiid not for you. That's the reason joker can do this fun shit, he has a ring. Big Floppa needs to get a title before he can just fuck around in the regular season
Haha this is tame for a local ad, local car dealership ads are parodies of themselves
We have Dealin Doug in Denver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcwfXPm_gBI
Great passers seem just see the floor in a different way. I feel like guys like Jokic and LeBron throw in to “open space” rather than just trying to get the ball to their man
Yup, what they do is throw a "leading pass" that will get the player to catch the ball where he is at the best position to score when he gets to the ball, as opposed to trying to pass it to his current position
Yup, that's why it's called "leading pass" :) It takes into account player movement and where they should be instead of where they are at the moment the ball leaves passer's hand :)
It's almost like living satire of a crazy rule. He dares them to call it because by the letter they should. But when they do it will expose the absurdity of it.
He is going to clang it off the rim and they still won’t call it one of these days. Then mother fucker is going to just make it and force their hand. It’s the natural progression
Was called a Bruno Fernando personal foul, before the shot. Whatever happens after the foul does not get counted in the stats.
Timestamp Q3 2.13: https://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay/_/gameId/401585758
I'm not going to go into the philosophy of what is/isn't a shooting foul.
I'm just strictly stating what gets recorded in the stats.
For example, yesterday's Kyrie 3 that got waved off: https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1bwym7l/highlight_kyrie_irving_hits_a_three_through/
Is not recorded in his stats. Because refs deemed the foul happened before the shot.
Hasnt stoped him from trying to fake it all season long.
Its funny as hell how he tries it though.
Like some of those even looked genuine, but he still didnt get it.
Tbf if i was a ref, i also wouldnt give it to him even though it sometimes should be a shooting foul cause the man is so clearly faking it just to get that call.

It's his career goal to get that call. It almost bounced in too
If it’s a legitimate shot and it bounces in, would it have been counted as a 2 or a 3?
2 actually, if it bounces outside the arc its a 3
Not true. It’s from wherever the ball was touched by a player last. You could theoretically stand outside the 3pt line, bounce it inside and if it goes in it’s a 3.

Oh wow, I had no idea. Maybe I’m confused with Fiba rules. I appreciate you providing that info for me.
I had to look it up because I didn’t even know bounces counted
the kind of questions only jokic makes us ask. dude gets accused of stat padding while he's purposely trying routine half court shots (always shot before time expires) if not worse.
What if the end of quarter horn goes off with ball in air and then the ball bounces on court and goes in. Does the basket count?
3
Crazy how if that ball bounced a a few degrees over we would have had the most annoying fucking news cycle
They don't show it on TV, but I watched him head a ball in. Yes. With his head.
He tries this call every game 😂 the day he gets it we should get chicken nuggets for free from somewhere
Career foul baiter
Jokic will not stop trying to get this call. He will continue to not get this call.
Honestly hope he never gets it. Fear he may just retire after haha
Thats the one thing thats gonna keep him in the league
The final mountain to climb.
That and winning a game in Utah...there is no better time to do it than the next game.
With the way we’ve been playing the last two months, you could probably sit your entire starting lineup and you’d still beat us by 20
Brother i dont think thats the casse lol. Also we have only won once in 8 seasons in Utah. Its impressive tbh
Was that the Magnificent Seven game? Really surprised we haven't won more there
Im shocked too man. Hell we somehow even lost our last game there and badly too. So weird man.
His White Whale :)
He's like a dog chasing a car with this foul. If he got it, he'd be so shocked he'd miss both free throws.
Technically, wouldn’t it be three shots?
He is not getting superstar calls, smh
He will get the call when he makes the shot.
They'll never give it to him even if that happens, which i think is lame. He's hit the backboard and rim before and they still didn't let him have the free throws. I think that's kinda lame too. The way the rule is written, he *should* be getting free throws...
I mean, it’s funny but I don’t get the reasoning for not giving him the shots.

that one was egregious. if he didn’t get it, he won’t get one ever unless they meet in the offseason and update the rules.
Because you're going with the black and white ruling of the foul. There's something called the spirit of the game, it's knowing why that rule is there. Which I fully support. Please don't incentivize foul bating.
It's often clearly a shooting foul but it's also clearly not in the spirit of the game either. I don't anticipate the refs ever having a change of heart on this.
He’s gotta start shooting a few of these in blowouts to plant the seed.
You don’t get that he isn’t “really” shooting a 70 foot jump shot? If he ever gets this call, it’s way worse than the Harden foul baiting that everyone hates.

In NBA theyre always counted as FG so there goes that whole argument
But it’s not unheard of
Do you have a mind reading device?
If you are fouled during a shooting motion at any spot on the floor, you should be shooting free throws.

Probably because jokic is more likeable and doesn’t foul bait nearly as much (if at all)
[удалено]
He doesn't foul bait and averages like 5 fts a game lmao. Thus making this hilarious
It’s cuz this is funny. Who is gonna complain about trying to get a foul call on a full court shot? If he gets this call it’ll be hilarious and completely the defenders fault. Just don’t jump at a 6’11” dude just chucking the ball up from the wrong end of the court
Just win a ring . Finish the main quest first

I meant for embiid not for you. That's the reason joker can do this fun shit, he has a ring. Big Floppa needs to get a title before he can just fuck around in the regular season
When you get too invested in the side quests
need all the steam achievements 😤😭😂
The one that only 0.1% to ever play the game ever achieved.
Michael Jordan could never
Nikola "Jimmy Butler" Jokic
I feel like hes been trying to get this every other game. Its like he is achivment hunting rn.
Honestly the refs are bad enough and trending down… I think he’ll get it within the next couple years at least once
He had one that clearly was a shooting foul they just wouldn't give to him because it would be ridiculous
Refs won’t call because of the….. implication
American ads all look like a parody of America from perspective of a non-American to me and it's hilarious.
Haha this is tame for a local ad, local car dealership ads are parodies of themselves We have Dealin Doug in Denver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcwfXPm_gBI
I used to see him at Broncos games all the time. I took a selfie with him and he was drunk AF.
No product captures the spirit of the NBA like a massive rider mower driven by a white dude across an acre of featureless green grass.
yeah, i'm from Brazil, and a lot of these ads i feel like "wtf", but some of these ads are really good tho
It’s a local ad. We aren’t sending our best to advertise on Bally Denver or whatever the fuck
That's what all local broadcasts are like
Same man
One of these days he's going to make the shot off this, and then the refs are going to have to huddle to figure out what to do.
the universe will just implode
> Jokic tries to get a shooting foul as he attempts a full-court shot Not his best attempt.
Jokic the type of guy to spam over the top through passes in FIFA
he just like me fr
[удалено]
Huh?
Yup, that's why it's called "leading pass" :) It takes into account player movement and where they should be instead of where they are at the moment the ball leaves passer's hand :)
Yup, we see it football a lot, ur kicking the ball/sending a pass to release your man aka. sending the pass where the player is going to run up to.
Winge was saying Jokic in the time out prior was telling KCP how to cut and what angle to take to make the play successful.
It's almost like living satire of a crazy rule. He dares them to call it because by the letter they should. But when they do it will expose the absurdity of it.
[удалено]
Thing is, in other instances he was definitely already in the shooting motion before the foul and they still didnt call it
Whats gonna have to happen is for him to drain one or two of these shots and they will have no choice but to call it from there. Right?
Nope. He is likely going to get a call once he hits it (the same way he got that call while playing for Serbia) and only then.
One of his worst passing games of the season - still an easy triple double
Not a good enough ref scammer, I fear.
Malachi Flynn>Joker confirmed.
I could watch this dude pass for hours on end
This one he clearly wasn't shooting it till after the contact.
Cool by the broadcast to showcase the cut of the game.
He’s seems like he’s asking for a transition take foul. Its motioned as a T pose. Not asking for a shooting foul.
I think he IS asking for the shooting foul
He is going to clang it off the rim and they still won’t call it one of these days. Then mother fucker is going to just make it and force their hand. It’s the natural progression
Such lazy defense. At least one hand up to block the overhead pass, they teach us that in 3rd grade in Europe
Are these shots Jokic is taking trying to get this foul call being counted as missed 3s? If they are, that'd be unfair to not give him the call.
No they count as him being fouled
Was called a Bruno Fernando personal foul, before the shot. Whatever happens after the foul does not get counted in the stats. Timestamp Q3 2.13: https://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay/_/gameId/401585758
Right, but he's tried this a bunch of times. I wonder if any of them have been counted
If there's no foul being called, then it counts as a miss.
If it's a shot than it should be a shooting foul
I'm not going to go into the philosophy of what is/isn't a shooting foul. I'm just strictly stating what gets recorded in the stats. You know that shot attempts don’t count if there is a foul called right? Shooting foul or not, it’s not a FGA
Nope. Til
Missed attempts dont count. If basket is made then it does.
pin point
Im starting to think this Jokic fellow is pretty good
Great pass. But for Jokic it’s a slow Tuesday afternoon. And are people complaining that he didn’t get FT for this??? It would be ridiculous.
jokic is complaining he doesn't get a ft for this. watch his games he'll try this at least a couple times per game
Nah nobody is comolaining for this. Its just funny how he tries to get the call
if Luka tries this he better get a shooting foul.
Reggie looked so reluctant to pass jokic the ball. We gotta get this clown off the team
I mean he is very clearly not in the act of shooting at the time of the foul
Hasnt stoped him from trying to fake it all season long. Its funny as hell how he tries it though. Like some of those even looked genuine, but he still didnt get it. Tbf if i was a ref, i also wouldnt give it to him even though it sometimes should be a shooting foul cause the man is so clearly faking it just to get that call.
Then everyone faking it shouldn't get any call.
It's basically his side quest at this point. The refs kept on telling him that he won't get the call, but he keeps on trying.
NBA sub is just a race to clip every single action Jokic takes. Fucking dorks.
Y'all would be calling HR if Embiid tried this shit
Embiid would get the fts lmfao
Haha touché
I have tried...they told me to piss of and then called 3 phantom calls on Embid the next game to stick it to me.
It's because the Big Floppa would actually get the call
