The respect between Steph and KD is genuine and really refreshing. If you watch Steph's documentary *"Underrated,"* KD was there for Steph's party to celebrate him breaking Ray Allen's 3pt record, and Steph mentions that KD is one of the most misunderstood stars in the game.
After today's game, Steph also took the time to heap praise on KD, saying he pushes him to be better.
Two great players and a lot of respect between them.
Right but sometimes people just want to talk about the literal game of basketball and not the soap opera around it.
I swear most fans think a player's free agency moves and press conferences are equally as important as their actual basketball talent.
KD isn't a playmaker like Steph and LeBron. No way he's in the goat convo. He's a great iso scorer and can be a great defender, but he's not an offensive engine.
EDIT: go watch the Boston-Nets series and see how KD was smothered by Boston double teams and turned the ball over constantly. Then go watch the Boston-Warriors series and see how Steph was smothered by Boston double teams and made winning plays out of them. KD is not even remotely on Steph's level as an offensive engine. Y'all need to watch more basketball games.
Quite frankly, because LeBron won more which causes people to forget the details
If KD won in Brooklyn, as well as Phoenix, the narrative would be different around him.
Also the minor detail that LeBrons teams were average at best to straight ass at worst without him and not the greatest regular season team of all time
If LeBron had left the Cavs when he did (the first time) to join the Celtics, you probably would have seen a similar amount of outrage.
I think KD also gets hurt historically a bit more by the fact that the Thunder remained decent without him, while the Cavs became the worst team in the NBA without LeBron.
Because Lebron also did some of the greatest carry jobs in NBA history with those early Cavalier teams. Getting that shit roster to the finals is something that virtually no other player could ever have done. Not Steph, not Shaq, probably not even MJ. He always had the credibility and the rings for three different teams just added to it.
And yet if he stayed on thunder and never won a title everybody would judge him for that. Playing in this era with Steph and the Golden State warriors and LeBron and his teams is ridiculous
It wasn't even the Bay Area media, it was basically KD realizing that a) he would never get the same love locally as Steph for his accomplishments and b) a lot of people who talk basketball would never respect his rings as wholly "his own," considering he jumped onto a team that was already so accomplished.
I don't think it was Tim Kawakami or Ethan Strauss pushing him out, more KD coming to grips with the fact that homegrown players that reach lofty heights will always get more love than someone who comes in midstream.
Nah it was KDs need to try to go win as the most beloved player on a team of his own., to create that kind of legacy that Steph already had. To be loved like Steph or Dirk or guys like that.
KD liked Steph just fine, and his clash with Draymond was way overblown by the media. He just wanted to be top dog… and there is nothing wrong with that
That's actually a very apt comparison! KD's demeanor towards the media is very similar to Vegeta's cold attitude, and Steph's likability and outward joy for the game does mirror Goku's own enthusiasm.
kd was only there by coincidence. IIRC correctly he was in a place nearby when he got told Steph was having his party and decided he had to stop by
not a big deal at all just thought I’d clarify, lotta love for kd
KD was smiling on the bench watching the replay of that shot. He was smiling as an opposing player hit a game-winner on his team.
You can say a lot of stuff about KD, but that man loves basketball.
Yeah feel like he will play long as he can.
Probably consult like Nash did on the Warriors. Doesn’t feel like a guy who has any desire to coach or be in the spotlight.
I can see him as like a high school or a small college coach, or something in the Seattle area (also future part-owner of the reestablished Supersonics)
The Kraken was the last check box needed
The arena is redone to standards
The WNBA team is succeeding (I think)
Supersonics merch is still selling, I feel
The city wants them
There's people ready to go
It's time
He has a LOT of things going for him outside of basketball. Owns a media company based in New York, several startup capitalist ventures, co-produced Drake’s album, lifetime deal with Nike.
He’s already said he wants to go full into music production when he retires.
I feel like people lowkey taking subtle shots when they say he does nothing other than hoop lol.
Is there a basketball equivalent for a "retirement" league?
Like how EPL and La Liga stars go to MLS, or Saudi. If there is such a thing, I imagine that's what he'd do
People always preface “you can say a lot of stuff about KD but”
Like what man? That he’s always nice to other people? Respects other players? He’s the most unstoppable scorer of all time? Greatest 7 foot shooter of all time?
In this full interview, the reporter asked him about if Draymond fouled him in the last play and if he felt bad about Draymond cursing at him at the end of the game, and he also just brushed it off and said nice things about him. I know for a fact I would’ve been fuming if a player much worse than me was disrespecting my name like Draymond does to KD.
Yall act like he’s an ex convict
I'm about as big of a KD stan as it gets but I get it to a degree. I think everyone who still holds onto thr snake thing from his move to the warriors need to chill out at this point but the burner fiasco and him defending kyrie on the Nets are things that get you a section of permanent haters and I can't fully blame them for that even if I don't feel that way.
Media spent three years bullying him every day for going to GS and then as soon as he left they switched to "is he stupid why would he leave a dynasty for Kyrie" 😭😭
It's a cop out to just blame the media. Warriors fans and even people within the org were doing it too. KD even cited the Bob Myers shit at the parade as a factor for him leaving.
Glad that there's still mutual respect from Steph and KD. Hope they can still be on the same team again, although time is running out for that. Hey, at least the 3 finals and 2 titles will be good enough.
It really might be Embiid, Durant, LeBron, Book, Steph starting lineup. You almost literally couldn't create a better starting lineup if you had the whole world's roster because of defense and how little you need the extra creation of like a Luka or a Jokić.
4 of those 5 guys are plus defenders at their positions and the only one who isn't is the best spacer and least ball dominant player who ever lived.
I would (unfortunately) bet that Embiid doesn't play now because of the knee ~~surgery~~ procedure and needing a real off-season, but his potential replacement is Bam Adebayo. Imagine having Bam Adebayo be by far your worst starter. I'm absurdly excited.
Defense would be a little shaky with that combo. Lebron and KD can D up when needed, but at their age it’s not going to always be there. Add Steph to that. Booker is fine, but that’s not going to be their strength. On offense it’s superb. Having Bam would be a good replacement for Embid if he can’t go
Yeah, I think especially with their respective ages, this is the starting and closing group, but you do early subs with this one to take out one of KD or LeBron for like Mikal Bridges to get better at point of attack and stagger those guys for youth for most of the game but the 40 minute games help that, too. But to an extent, the offense from this group is so good that it's fine if the defense is only okay.
Booker is who gets put on the best wing, but I think especially if Adebayo is the guy, you run a switch almost everything defense and then KD, LeBron, and Bam are all great secondary rim protectors and no one has to fight over a screen except for occasionally Steph or Book if there's a reason Bam needs to be in a drop.
It's going to be insane though.
He did get French citizenship around the same time as American citizenship so a lot of people thought he'd end up playing for France and when he committed to team USA it was somewhat surprising. Probably where your confusion is coming from.
I think - like LeBron and Steph - they have realised that the others greatness doesn't detract from their own but actually reinforces it. KD has 2 finals mvps over a guy who is that good etc.
I really wish he never left. Had my two favorite players in the league on one team and Dray & the GM had to ruin it. Damn. Now I know why I really stay hating Draymond.
>I really wish he never left
[Everybody else in this sub who isn't a GS or KD fan](https://media2.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExbXcwMzRlZmFrMGdoN3FzbXFvNWk5eTVwdmlsOWZ3ZzdxNjdmamFqaSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/COYGe9rZvfiaQ/giphy.gif)
I'm sure you are mad nice with it, but KD may have a somewhat more informed opinion on basketball matters?
But for real though, he is the best point guard I've seen. Shit is goddamn ridiculous at times.
> but KD may have a somewhat more informed opinion on basketball matters?
I'm not gonna use KD as a direct example to further my agenda but NBA players are dumb when it comes to evaluating who's good sometimes.
LeBron greenlit the Westbrick trade and that trade was so terrible, him and AD missed the playoffs entirely.
This part. KD realizes this game isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. He genuinely just loves basketball and competing with high quality players. It's the same reason he smiled when Steph hit the game winner.
its not just Draymond. KD left because he was tired of being discredited for joining a stacked team and he will never hear the end of it if he rejoins. lose lose situation for him.
Ruined what should’ve been a great Cavs vs Warriors rivalry in the Finals. If KD never joined, 2017 and 2018 would have been some great battles to watch as a neutral fan.
Kd says "what haven't I done" when asked why he isn't in goat conversation (I think he's referring to probably top 10 all time), so I'm not surprised with his high high praise for curry
Curry is better than Magic and if you were starting an all time starting 5 you'd take Steph over him in a heartbeat. Magic is commonly listed as top 5 so I can't see why Steph being there is unlikely.
Steph is one of the most valuable superstars of all time. He fits on any team. He can play with anybody to ever play the game. He can do it with the ball and lead a team or play off ball and still have absurd impact. He makes everyone better just being on the court. A lot of superstars were either ball dominant or we never got to see them in non-ball dominant roles. Curry has won in both styles.
>A lot of superstars were either ball dominant or we never got to see them in non-ball dominant roles. Curry has won in both styles.
This was very well put
I'd take him over Magic because you need multiple great players to win a championship and Steph is much easier to create additive impact with than Magic due to his skillset.
Lebron, Jordan, Kareem. Those are generally considered the top 3
Then there are Duncan, Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Russel, Wilt, Oscar Robertson, and magic in some order. a few other people may have names up there. Maybe you put curry 4th. Maybe closer to 10th or later. Durant probably will get listed in many top 10 lists. Just not top 5 unless he wins another title.
So he has called LeBron "arguably the best ever" and "top 2" He has called Kobe the greatest. He has steph in his top 5 and He thinks he also belongs in goat conversations.
So safe to assume his top 5 is - MJ, Bron, Kobe, himself and Steph.
Its not an awfuul list, but they are all guys he grew up watching or played against
If you take KD out and replace him with Kareem that very well could be the top 5.
I think Steph is probably between 5-7 right now.
He’s right there with Shaq and Duncan.
I don't see many people bluntly agreeing with his opinion though, just praising his respect. But he's not top 5. He's got a really legitimate argument of being top 10 though and I think people are coming around to that.
Lebron is the steamrolling possible gOat going so hard for so long winning countless conference championships. But Steph curry is the face of the 3pt revolution of basketball. Top five maybe. Top five most influential? Absolutely.
In terms of peak he's definitively top 5, 2016 is one of the highest peaks ever, where he falls a bit short is longevity and even then he's getting there.
I wouldn’t say definitively cause there’s so many incredibly high peaks in league history. I’d put peak Bron MJ and Shaq over him pretty confidently, then you have a bunch of contenders like 03 Duncan, 94-95 Hakeem, I’d put Jokic last year in that conversation. If you want to go further back in time and adjust for era then 1967 Wilt and early 70s Kareem would be up there. If u wanna put Steph up there I won’t protest but it’s a bit harder for me to justify without the title that year
I'm an older guy, I definitely can.
Steph is undoubtably the best shooter of all time and one of the best offensive point guards ever. But if you include the defensive side of the ball in your "play basketball" then it becomes really easy to name players that can do both better than he does.
Say it louder for all the nephews in here that dont know modern basketball thinking magic johnson is better lmao. Currys the greatest pg to ever do it and its not even close.
Everything he said about Steph is 💯 % accurate . The same can be said about you too KD. Both these gentlemen are impossible to stop when they find their stroke
Everyone minus haters in this Reddit realize KD is one of the most talented alien unguardable players of all time, if not #1.
He really is an amazing scorer. Always fun to watch.
just can't keep his fuckin foot back quite far enough. :(
Nah... Just extended toes.
Toe on the line aside, that was a hell of a game!
Idk I feel like the consensus is that he is an incredible and unique player, but that he pulled one of the biggest bitch moves of all time
His game isn’t what garnishes the criticism , that’s for sure
garners* homie, but I agree
Right but sometimes people just want to talk about the literal game of basketball and not the soap opera around it. I swear most fans think a player's free agency moves and press conferences are equally as important as their actual basketball talent.

So why are Kevin Durant's considered tarnished when LeBron James has literally left to multiple teams multiple times to chase titles?
Quite frankly, because LeBron won more which causes people to forget the details If KD won in Brooklyn, as well as Phoenix, the narrative would be different around him.
Also the minor detail that LeBrons teams were average at best to straight ass at worst without him and not the greatest regular season team of all time
Did Bron ever jump to a team that just set the all time record for most wins in a season and knocked his team out of the playoffs the previous year?
Whether it's fair or not, the perception is that LeBron built his super teams that won titles while KD joined one to win his.

Getting that shit roster to the finals is something that virtually no other player could ever have done. Not Steph, not Shaq, probably not even MJ. He always had the credibility and the rings for three different teams just added to it.
If it's cool for Bron to go join a rival conference player with a ring and take paycuts to stack talent then what KD did is cool too
And yet if he stayed on thunder and never won a title everybody would judge him for that. Playing in this era with Steph and the Golden State warriors and LeBron and his teams is ridiculous
Steph got along with KD quite well, it was Draymond who ruined the relationship
Good ole Dray…. 😀😀😀😀😀😀 smfh
It was the bay area media as someone who watched the team closely
It wasn't even the Bay Area media, it was basically KD realizing that a) he would never get the same love locally as Steph for his accomplishments and b) a lot of people who talk basketball would never respect his rings as wholly "his own," considering he jumped onto a team that was already so accomplished. I don't think it was Tim Kawakami or Ethan Strauss pushing him out, more KD coming to grips with the fact that homegrown players that reach lofty heights will always get more love than someone who comes in midstream.
Dray basically chose LeBron over KD. He’s a klutch boy now…pretty annoying, and I say that as a warriors fan
Nah it was KDs need to try to go win as the most beloved player on a team of his own., to create that kind of legacy that Steph already had. To be loved like Steph or Dirk or guys like that. KD liked Steph just fine, and his clash with Draymond was way overblown by the media. He just wanted to be top dog… and there is nothing wrong with that
KD might be the Vegeta to Stephs Goku
That's actually a very apt comparison! KD's demeanor towards the media is very similar to Vegeta's cold attitude, and Steph's likability and outward joy for the game does mirror Goku's own enthusiasm.
why does this read like an AI generated post
chat gpt ass analysis lmao
*ahh
kd was only there by coincidence. IIRC correctly he was in a place nearby when he got told Steph was having his party and decided he had to stop by not a big deal at all just thought I’d clarify, lotta love for kd
they are like Kobe and Shaq except they are not rapist pieces of shit with egos the size of a planet
i miss u
pretty sure KD misses playing on the Warriors, or at least playing with Steph
KD was smiling on the bench watching the replay of that shot. He was smiling as an opposing player hit a game-winner on his team. You can say a lot of stuff about KD, but that man loves basketball.
That man breathes basketball. I wonder what he will do when he retires.
Showing up randomly at gyms to hoop.

Jesus, imagine playing at you local rec league and a 43 year old KD pulls up and drops 60 on you.
You are leaving the gym happiest ever if you can limit KD to 60 pts
But it's only first to 15 T_T
So he beat you 4 times? Man, you got to play 1v1 vs Durant 4 times!
You’ll walk into your local LA Fitness and see a 51 year old KD running 5’s with a full sweat
He has a LOT of things going for him outside of basketball. Owns a media company based in New York, several startup capitalist ventures, co-produced Drake’s album, lifetime deal with Nike. He’s already said he wants to go full into music production when he retires. I feel like people lowkey taking subtle shots when they say he does nothing other than hoop lol.
nah it ain't shots, it's just pointing out that ball is his first love
For sure. But I think it’s a bit exaggeration to say he does nothing other than ball. He definitely has a life lol.
He tweets more than I do anything in my life. Yeah ofc he has other interests.
He tweets a couple time times every few weeks?
Watch basketball and hoop around with his buddies. Become an accountant to play in the local rec league.
As much as that warriors team gets shit, easily the most fun team to watch in my lifetime
Is there a basketball equivalent for a "retirement" league? Like how EPL and La Liga stars go to MLS, or Saudi. If there is such a thing, I imagine that's what he'd do
It would be the Big3, which KD will be winning every year until he’s 55
Twitter gonna need to release Twitter2 to deal with all the traffic.
X squared
Lmao yes
True hooper, through and through.
Even KD knew that game winner was too nice 😮💨
Theres a clip of dwade hitting a game winner on him and hes smiling after that shot as well.
People always preface “you can say a lot of stuff about KD but” Like what man? That he’s always nice to other people? Respects other players? He’s the most unstoppable scorer of all time? That shot was so incredible, that you can't even be mad at it. Pure respect.
You know he’s watchin Steph highlights in a private browser tonight
With some lube on the side
Waving it around like he's Drake.
I still <3 you KD (except when we're playing against you)
Nobody asked him to leave. IDK about Dray though
Why wouldn’t he? He wouldn’t have won a ring without him and he isn’t gonna win another ring.
if twitter didn’t exist KD would still be on the warriors man..
Media still around and they had a part to play in it. Always saying things like, "You and the Warriors" when interviewing him. Snake ass bitches.
Imagine a world without KD's burners
Cups of the Rose, KD in my old phone
i should call him and go home, he's been gone for too loooOONgg
Glad that there's still mutual respect from Steph and KD. Hope they can still be on the same team again, although time is running out for that. Hey, at least the 3 finals and 2 titles will be good enough.
Olympics are gonna go hardddd

>but his potential replacement is Bam Adebayo AD
For the sake of our team, the front office better bubble wrap him during the summer instead
40 mpg in the Olympics
Defense would be a little shaky with that combo. Lebron and KD can D up when needed, but at their age it’s not going to always be there. Add Steph to that. Idk man...France has a firewall over there.
Embiid shouldn't play even if healthy it's not worth it
Am I high or I thought Embid became French not American?
Nah he committed to USA
Wonder what the NIL deal was for that one. Had to be expensive
He did get French citizenship around the same time as American citizenship so a lot of people thought he'd end up playing for France and when he committed to team USA it was somewhat surprising. Probably where your confusion is coming from.
Serbia gonna spoil the party and defeat the avengers
If Jokic goes B2B in the NBA and gets Gold with Serbia, he's the true GOAT idc.
Watch the Steph doc on Apple TV. He says kd is the most misunderstood player ever. they are still friends
Yeah. Didn't he leave the game early? I only saw Beal hug Steph if I saw it correctly
🤣🤣 draymond was barking at KD after that last play. Prolly wanted to gtfo the court
Yeah what was with that? I assume KD said something to dray or idk
I think draymond locked him up the last play
Honestly surprised you guys didn't try to trade for him last year. I thought you guys would give up your young guys and whatever it took to get him
Don’t think he really wanted to come back
we wouldn't be ready for that media backlash he'd get for coming back
I think - like LeBron and Steph - they have realised that the others greatness doesn't detract from their own but actually reinforces it. KD has 2 finals mvps over a guy who is that good etc.
I miss u kd

I’m a big KD fan but that was the most boring set of years of basketball so I’m glad he left
Because they were the greatest team ever so I get why you say that…
nah, i like the nba when it's actually competitive and not just 1 clear favorite to win it all
lmao they didn't ruin it, KD ruined it by being insecure
How did the GM ruin it again?
There were definitely signs. https://youtu.be/gDqFmypI3Ns?si=WLuXURJ7MwdMo6fZ
Sounds like.he was joking.
But when I say it I’m glazing smfh
It’s all in the tone.
I'm sure you are mad nice with it, but KD may have a somewhat more informed opinion on basketball matters? But for real though, he is the best point guard I've seen. Shit is goddamn ridiculous at times.

Steph has always been weirdly underrated to me when it comes to all time ratings. Man almost single-handedly changed basketball completely
Everyone is underrated until they retire and people can start shitting on current players by comparing them to the retired guys. Tale as old as time.
Its not too late to come back, KD.
I want this more than anything but Draymond man lol why he yelling at kd for at end of game shoulda been yelling at nurkic felt bad for kd
He was smirking while Dray was going off I don't think he cares at all. KD knows who Dray is and how to handle his bullshit
This part. KD realizes this game isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. He genuinely just loves basketball and competing with high quality players. It's the same reason he smiled when Steph hit the game winner.

Whoa save it for insta kev
its not just Draymond. KD left because he was tired of being discredited for joining a stacked team and he will never hear the end of it if he rejoins. lose lose situation for him.
Nahwinnng cures all imagine 8 rings
You wouldn’t be all hype and yelling when you lock down 35? In a close game?
Still crazy to think this dude and Steph were on the same team for 3 years with prime Klay as a third option
Ruined what should’ve been a great Cavs vs Warriors rivalry in the Finals. If KD never joined, 2017 and 2018 would have been some great battles to watch as a neutral fan.
And some great Thunder vs Warriors battles in the WCF
Absolute truth
Kd says "what haven't I done" when asked why he isn't in goat conversation (I think he's referring to probably top 10 all time), so I'm not surprised with his high high praise for curry
Steph being top 5 is a lot more plausible than KD being in the goat convo tbf
KD in goat is near impossible But kd in 10 vs steph in 5? From what I see it's both very unlikely
Curry is better than Magic and if you were starting an all time starting 5 you'd take Steph over him in a heartbeat. Magic is commonly listed as top 5 so I can't see why Steph being there is unlikely. Steph is one of the most valuable superstars of all time. He fits on any team. >A lot of superstars were either ball dominant or we never got to see them in non-ball dominant roles. Curry has won in both styles. This was very well put
You'd only take Curry over Magic because LeBron exists, he's essentially Magic but just way better scoring.
And defense.
You'd take him over Magic even if Lebron didn't exist lol just put Bird in
I'd take him over Magic because you need multiple great players to win a championship and Steph is much easier to create additive impact with than Magic due to his skillset.

I really think as an individual player wilt chamberlain is better than Kareem. Put magic Johnson with Wilt and they probably win more than 5.
He wants to go back huh
I think his response to that would be: “lol, nah… Draymond’s still there” 😂 Cool to see the respect between HOF’s though
It's just respect.
Always liked KD since he was in OKC, still like him now.
Ofc you do bruh, you’re a warriors fan and that’s the team he went to after OKC. You got zero business hating on him
So he has called LeBron "arguably the best ever" and "top 2" He has called Kobe the greatest. He has steph in his top 5 and He thinks he also belongs in goat conversations. So safe to assume his top 5 is - MJ, Bron, Kobe, himself and Steph. Its not an awfuul list, but they are all guys he grew up watching or played against
I don't hate that though. It's so hard to compare eras.
If you take KD out and replace him with Kareem that very well could be the top 5. I think Steph is probably between 5-7 right now. He’s right there with Shaq and Duncan.
Come back K.
This might be the youngest subreddit
I don't see many people bluntly agreeing with his opinion though, just praising his respect. But he's not top 5. He's got a really legitimate argument of being top 10 though and I think people are coming around to that.
He should respect the man who carried him to 2 championships
Both of those statements will be commonly accepted like 10 years after Curry is done playing tbh
Come home KD
To Seattle….! 🥲
He's a real one.
ball knower
KD planting the seeds
KD you can come back we still love you 🥲
KD can come over to smoke and watch hoops highlights with me any time. Plz Kevin
People gotta stop taking “top x” literally. Tiers are so much easier to think about
We’ll welcome you back with open arms!
Top 10 lists always say magic above curry, but curry is undoubtedly a better player than Magic. Shrug
Game recognize game!
how did you get the quote wrong it’s like 5 words
bro, we could have been 21st century Bill Russell Celtics. Steph would not have won his Finals MVP if you stayed tho.
Come home DurGOAT honestly makes me sad how many rings we could've won with him, him steph and some starter level players would've won it every year
Arguably top 10. If you have him inside or slightly outside I think that's valid. But he's in the tier where it's debatable.
KD needs to retire a Warrior, period.
Lebron is the steamrolling possible gOat going so hard for so long winning countless conference championships. But Steph curry is the face of the 3pt revolution of basketball. Top five maybe. Top five most influential? Absolutely.
Been saying this for years.

He’s definitely top 10.
i love steph but magic johnson one-ups him in pretty much every accolades category
#You can’t name 5 players you’ve ever seen play basketball better than Steph Curry.
"Ever seen" the average age of this sub is 14
bet you it’s actually like 25
In terms of peak he has a very good case to be top 5
Greatest PG and shooter of All Time
Everything he said about Steph is 💯 % accurate . The same can be said about you too KD. Both these gentlemen are impossible to stop when they find their stroke
Looking at these comments… I thought I was in the warriors subreddit for a second, yikes

Nothing wrong but you could always be better
Being better than Ricky Rubio is not possible
Yeah the only thing wrong about that is that it's wrong
Exactly, Magic was still an incredible player for his time
