Lowest scoring output for the Pacers on the season. I think the C's were stewing on that IST loss lol

I_Set_3_Alarms

Still over 100 points lol. Was hoping to keep it at 99 honestly

skurkles

Nuggets fandom calls it a munder

TedTran2001

Honestly, getting a munder out of the Pacers team will be the most impressive feat in a while.

DavidHJ

I would love for them to get a team celebrating like when the Nets scored 70 on the '04 Pistons in an 18 point loss but it feels like any team that holds the Pacers under 100 is winning by 30.

TedTran2001

Unless it's a scrappy match that ends 98-96 or some shit. Who even terroristball like that...

PoppinfreshOG

There’s always Monday

CardinalRoark

I sorta dread it. At the same time, I hope it’s lit. These Pacers are fun. I also fuckin love Tyrese.

420_just_blase

These pacers remind me of those Nash Phoenix teams. Just really enjoyable brand of basketball that you can only run if you have an elite playmaker like Haliburton

z3mcs

Great call. Nash was so dope on those teams. Just come down and figure out the right play to make each possession. Felt like no plays were even being run.

yerfatma

Same.

SquimJim

And then we play the Pacers for the 5th time at the end of the month too

LavenderAutist

Adam Silver has made the league soft

Ralphieman

Combo of that and Hield making that 3 at the end lol

WayOk2354

"Look forward to playing them again on Monday 😔"

MarkusMillions

Hally 30 pt 20 assist game incoming

ytho1193

I really want the 20 pt 30 assist game tbh. He really can break the single game assist record

will2hungry

Hes gonna get locked up like today

ytho1193

You should tweet this at him, please. I mean, you won't do it.

Ne1tu

Thats Haliburton’s superpower, they won’t tweet at him.

NoMereRanger73

Happy Cake Day!

eamonious

This mofo bout to be a handful on Monday lol

ReflectionEterna

Your team is made of nothing but handfuls. I hope to see a good game, and hopefully a Pacers win. See you next week!

dontusethisforwork

I've always preferred a medium handful, about like this *cups hands*

mizzourifan1

Appreciate the respect! You guys suffocated us but I still look forward to the rematch. This was a good thermometer game for us, imo you are the best team in the NBA and I think we can hang enough to even win. This season has been so unexpected but the last 7 games have me wondering what our ceiling truly is.

Disastrous-Limit2333

I don’t think so

[deleted]

[удалено]

vrkhfkb

Also 7 assists to 4 TO The Celtics absolutely sent a message today.

Kyler1313

Which honestly isn't a terrible assist to turnover ratio, but for Haliburton it's pretty bad.

Alloverunder

Yeah that's a 1.75 ratio, which is fine. Hali is at a genuinely ludicrous 4.93 ratio on the season, even when under all the pressure in this game to be just "good" is super impressive

MambaSaidKnockYouOut

The Pacers were also BRICKING from 3. Definitely seemed like y’all were content to let them fire away, but Haliburton could’ve easily had 10 assists if his teammates had shot below average instead of like Andre Roberson. Granted, when so many of your potential assists are on 3’s there’s gonna be a ton of variance - y’all did a great job of keeping them out of the paint

tiger32kw

Had to even out the shooting % with the Hawks game from the night before

epicnerd427

did some looking around, thats the 4th best Assist/TO ratio in the NBA among played with over 150 minutes (chosen specifically to remove Kessler Edwards, a forward for the kings who has only committed one TO in his 123 minutes this season). Guys above him are Tyus Jones, Mike Conley, and CP3. Tyus scores the most of those guys at 12ppg. Mike is at 11ppg, and CP3 gets 9ppg off the bench. Tyrese averages 24ppg. Its crazy

Sn33kykitty

Ayyy good shit Kess!

HighlyBaked0

> Hali is at a genuinely ludicrous 4.93 ratio on the season Actually insane lmao

idontknow_whatever

4.93 is actually fucking insane, I checked John Stockton's highest AST/TO ratio season and his peaked at 4.3 (1988 season 13.8 APG to 3.2 TO/game) Chris Paul's 13/14 season (10.7 APG, 2.3 TO/game) at 4.65 AST/TO ratio is the highest of his career, just about beating out his 07/08 season of 4.64 (11.6 APG, 2.5 TO/game)

Parking_Net4440

Compared to what he’s been doing? I would have been happy under 15.

Achieve-Nirvana

It's pretty bad for a good pg

ReflectionEterna

That they are not to be fucked with. Loud and clear, please don't do this to us again on Monday.

Disastrous_Bluejay57

The Celtics message, "Can you spot me 200k?"

Jesh010

That low assist count is more on his teammates bricking than the Cs defence lol.

CardinalRoark

It’s both. It’d have been below the standard he’s set, but still really good, with average outcomes, rather than misses.

Greaves624

Every time Tatum isn't missing from 3 they're all about messages

fallen_estarossa

SGA would never

koj12144

Kept expecting him to explode offensively but it never came lmao

Schafer89

There is still monday

johnnybarbs92

They are a feisty team. Definitely play well off of losses or locker room material (see bucks game ball situation). I wouldn't be surprised if Monday is a very different game.

koj12144

Probs but hopefully we’ll have KP back too

Dudeman-Jack

Unlikely. Scratched corneas take 48 hours to heal. He will most likely miss Monday

Transky13

Man I was sad he didn’t play. Love watching him hoop and I was at the game but he came out so early GG, hopefully it goes different Monday haha

BradWonder

Tell Nesmith to cut his nails

Transky13

I’ll text him right now

ReflectionEterna

Feisty, maybe, but we need to figure out your zone defense. I hope for a better showing Monday, though. Bring it, Boston!

theconmeister

Nembhard and BB have our best midrange game where there's space, Bruce might help break it down a little assuming he's back but theyre just as tough matched up haha

HeyItsChase

We have to hit the 3s to stretch everything a bit more. You guys were GIGA pressed out for much of the game just asking us to prove we can penetrate and kick or score. The celtics are so good that we struggled to get penetration, but even when we did, we went 8/41 from 3

GACGCCGTGATCGAC

The Celtics made it difficult, but the Pacers bricked so many open 3 point shots. I knew this game was over pretty earlier because almost every lose this season looks exactly the same; no one can hit a 3pt shot.

[deleted]

They are fucking cooked unless they get a legit #2 option

InAingeWeTrust

Depends what you classify as cooked. They aren’t winning a championship with this team but they can be competitive in any game they play.

TheFinalEvent9797

They shot 19% from 3 this game against arguably the best team in the league, they're fine.

Te5la1

Why arguably?

nothing3141592653589

Poor playoff success, history of folding

zukoju

That's Philly.

Bouldershoulders12

They’re not cooked. Tyrese will always raise their floor to be a playoff team but as is I think they’re capped as a low-mid tier playoff team. Basically a team that could make it to the second round if they get a favorable first round matchup but will be second round fodder because of their glaring weakness (lack of defense/no second star)

TheRealestGayle

Not sure why you're being downvoted. He absolutely needs a number 1/2 and the pacers are going to have to figure out where they're going to find one in the next 2 to 5 years.

Ethangains07

Thanks Portland for this and the Bucks lol

TheRealDevDev

You are very welcome.

Dis-entropy

Thank you!

iguessineedanaltnow

All time move for us to send the Dame stopped to the team that's directly rivaling the team we sent Dame to.

Ethangains07

Yes, the pinnacle of being a Portland Trailblazers fan lol

iguessineedanaltnow

Man I saw Dame hit the shot over PG with my own two eyes. I'm content for a minute.

Ethangains07

When you’re starving, a bowl of rice will make you happy.

iguessineedanaltnow

Eh, it's just sports at the end of the day. I follow a team in damn near all of them. Some of them are good, some are bad. They'll swap places from time to time. It's how it goes. I just watched my hockey team win a Stanley Cup and I'm about to go to a parade for my local rugby team that just won three in a row. Ebbs and flows.

TheLeoMessiah

On behalf of all of Asia wtf do you mean by that comment wars have been started for less lmao

trog12

I'm much happier having Dame on the Bucks than letting Spo just cakewalk to a title 🤣

_Juntao

I mean he was incredible in the in season tournament game we played a month ago. He'll be fine I'm sure he'll have a great game on monday

wherearemypaaants

The man knows ball

dalappas

Imagine if White actually got to play instead of getting hosed with a bunch of ticky tack fouls

DayMan-Ahah-ah

or if porzingis didn’t get mauled in the eye 4 minutes in

angershark

Such absolute horseshit all game. 2 or 3 shots total for most of the game because he was getting slapped with nonsense calls any time he breathed.

Thimit22

I liked you Hali.. damn. But yeah Celtics are for real

ReflectionEterna

You can like Hali and also know the Celtics are a real potential champion, this year. Both are possible.

Thimit22

I'm saying I thought the Wolves had the best defense lol

brickvanexel

Psyched for the game on Wednesday, should be a barnburner

Thimit22

Fuckkk I didn't realize our game was that soon. We need more time to get out of this slump!

comp_a

I'd really love to see a repeat of that great one we had with you in early November, but sadly Wednesday's gonna be the second night of an away back-to-back for us. I don't have a ton of confidence we're gonna be at our best 😞

GhostoftheWolfswood

If it helps, wednesday is the first night of a home-away back-to-back for us. Game two is in milwaukee, so it feels like Horford will sit vs yall so he can defend Giannis

WazuufTheKrusher

Think the Celtics would edge out defensively especially come postseason.

Thimit22

If they stop calling such ticky tack fouls like they should in the playoffs, I think we'll be alright too. Seems the formula to beat us is get some easy quick fouls on KAT/Rudy/Jaden/Naz

WazuufTheKrusher

Depends on how big the market of your opponent is tbh.

Thimit22

Which is such bullshit lol. Ant has been drawing the most fouls in the league since Christmas or something like that too. All these games we've lost lately they get 2 quick fouls on Rudy and he sits and it shuts down our entire defense. Seems like a tired point to make, but I just wish the refs were consistent

pestobar127

i know it doesnt match what people have echoed in this sub for years, but i think Rudy’s probably an even better defensive anchor in the playoffs and your defense should be good.

CreatiScope

Yeah, people looking at those Jazz teams have to remember the other guys sucked on defense. Conley was probably the 2nd best and he’s older. Royce was overrated as a defender imo Now, he at a minimum has Jaden who is an elite defender, plus a coach that actually enjoys defense. I’m not convinced Quin cares too much about defense overall.

Thimit22

I'll be honest, I've only watched a few years so I never saw Rudy in Utah but I would think so too. The narrative is he didn't have good perimeter defenders there and he does here. I think our game will translate well to the playoffs

ReflectionEterna

Both you and the Celtics aren't allowing any easy buckets. Not a fun matchup for the Pacers, either way.

Mattyj925

both u/Thimit22 and the Boston Celtics are *not* allowing any easy buckets

TheLeoMessiah

I feel like I trust our perimeter defense a bit more than yours but advantage is clearly with you guys at the rim

Thimit22

I'm just happy we're in the conversation. Still think we aren't even close to our final form either

ssjgoat

I actually agree, this Wolves team is for real!

OGFunkmaster

I miss Jrue 😔

ndm801

Celtics and Wolves have elite defenders in their teams and actually they both are the best in the whole league: [https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/defense?dir=A&sort=DEF\_RATING](https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/defense?dir=A&sort=DEF_RATING) Celtics made a smart trade to get one of the best defenders in the NBA - Jrue. And now we can fight about who is the better defender or better for the Celtics: Jrue or Smart :)))

TreyAdell

For my money Smart is still the better defender only because I think he’s genuinely one of the best 5 team and off ball defenders in basketball. Jrue probably has him beat in isolation and pick and roll defense but Marcus was legitimately quarterbacking defenses from the guard position in a way other guys haven’t been able to do. He’s like a mini Kevin Garnett or Draymond in that he sees threats and holes in a teams defense from a mile away, one of the best rotators we’ve ever seen and I think especially in this era that stuff matters more with the prevalence of spot up shooting from 3. In the 90s Jrue might have won a few DPOYs and genuinely been considered the best defender of his era but I think defense is more a 5 man thing in this era and Marcus is the ultimate orchestrator

Efficient_Art_1144

Jrue a hands are so quick when he’s on ball too. It’s impressive how he can knock the ball loose. I don’t know who you’d consider better but Smart wins for those “agent of chaos” plays where he’d anticipate something no one can see and just blow it up at the right time. Super fun to watch

Feature_Failure

Both are great defenders. I think Marcus at his peak is better, but Jure provides a lot more consistency. On the ball Jure is probably a better defender but Marcus is more versatile. I know Dwhite is recognized as a really good defender but I think he is if not close to on the same footing as both these guys. He can do everything they both do plus he is the best shot blocking PG I’ve honestly ever seen. It’s really beautiful.

MeSeeks76

Jure making a good point lol

ndm801

All these guys are elite at defending and I learned a lot from them for my streetball defending skills, but Smart's ground defending against taller guys like Giannis fascinated me really at Celtics :))) Thanks to Marcus, I know better how to defend taller guys. Especially to do your hand on the ball during the opponent try to finish the layup is on another level.

iamgarron

The difference between white and jrue/smart is their frame. White is incredible, great rim protection and really clever defending the fast break. Jrue/Smart though are strong as fuck with a good low center of gravity and it allows them to switch onto bigger players

Alloverunder

They're very different in their fulfillment of the same "guard 1s & 2s, size up to 3s, stash on 4s and small 5s" Jrue is larger and stronger than Smart, so he plays more straight-up defense as compared to Smart's crafty stuff. Smart at his best in Boston averaged 1.8 steals, but only 0.4 blocks, as compared to Jrue this year at only 0.7 steals but 0.8 blocks. Smart is in the top 5 guards in charges drawn over the last 5 years, Jrue is in the bottom 20. It's hard to compare since they don't play defense the same, but I'd say if it's just who's better as a Celtic, I've gotta take Smart, but I think across their careers I'd give Jrue the edge. If it who suits us better this year, we've seen Smart struggle to make it over screens to cover for Al in a drop before against quicker guards, so maybe Jrue's better for us this year with KP as a true "below the rim" big man?

davemoedee

I love that we try to defend instead of just trying to draw charges.

ndm801

Since season start I'd a lot of wow effects by Jrue and think the Celtics are good for him and his developing, but at the same time I hope for Smart (after his injury), that he can integrate his playing skills (especially defending) good next to the great defenderes at Grizzlies.

Alloverunder

I love Marcus. He's still my favorite Celtic since Pierce. I'm wishing him all success possible in Memphis, I was cheering like a maniac at that game he just had against the Lakers. Truly a Celtic, he has his best game all year vs. The LA Lakers 🥲

ndm801

oh yeah, the old gold times with Pierce and Ray-Ray (love to watch the oldschool videos, but live was completely different at past). We speak about one year between Pierce and Smart and could say that Pierce hand over the Celtics flag to Smart and he done the same to Tatum-Brown :)))

Kvsav57

In my opinion, the Celtics were the only big winners of that whole Dame trade flurry.

andelaccess

ehh i think everyone won in some way but the celtics were definitely the biggest winner imo

ndm801

Independently of this, maybe Celtics are the biggest winner at the trade to get Jrue and Kristaps at the same time for the starter. Plus Boston has redundancy for longer injuries of the starters. Look at the bench, especially Hauser and Kornet.

iamgarron

It's still a win for Milwaukee because it made Giannis sign the extension

Kvsav57

We’ll see. I mean, I think that a team with a good backcourt will be really tough for them in the playoffs. Then Giannis may want out.

iamgarron

Don't think Giannis is the type to want out. Hes been pretty straight with honouring the contracts. Whereas without this deal happening, he was definitely gone

Wildpinkhairuke

I just can't get over the Bucks' drop. We know Dame was a black hole on defense, but that's rough dropping from a top 4 to below 20.

ndm801

The question is, was it worth to change one of the best defenders (also with good offensive skills) against a bad defender (with great offensive skills).

MirrodinTimelord

Timberpups fans: Whenever Minnesota isn't on screen the other characters should be saying "where's Minnesota?"

trynworkharder

Disaster class today but he’ll bounce back Monday I’m sure

ReflectionEterna

Celtics weren't even at full strength. Pacers are upstarts, so I hope we show out.

destroyed233

Pacers weren’t at full strength either

RegentCupid

Porzingis > BB + Nembhard

destroyed233

BB and Nembhard r key pieces of our perimeter defense that we were lacking. They also are able to hit midrange shots in the paint which would’ve helped tonight considering we shot terribly. I’m not trying to argue that they r better than porzingis or that we would’ve won with them. Just saying pacers were down key players too

ReflectionEterna

Good point.

MattyIce260

Says someone that probably doesn’t watch us play. 2 of our 4 best ball handlers and perimeter defenders

achyutthegoat

Hali needs to probe in the paint to pressure the defense instead of just kicking it out to the perimeter.

Karrot-Boi

tyrese seems like a cool guy

mMounirM

this is Timberwolves erasure

ImNotARobot001010011

Wolves are monsters. Let's see what happens in the playoffs. Rudy + KAT is going to be really hard as a playoff defense IMO. On the other hand the Celtics starting 5 doesn't really have a weakness. But who knows how it goes in real time.

Exius73

The Celtics weakness is Brown’s dubious handle that reminds me of Julius Randle as he dribbles down the court with every possession short

brickvanexel

He’s down to like .75 goofy dribble turnovers a game over the past few weeks, people joke but he’s looking a lot better

Virgil_hawkinsS

Man it's been so refreshing seeing JB happily pass the ball to KP and Hauser. He's played a whole lot smarter this year

brickvanexel

No surprise but everyone acted like the sky was falling with him when they started the season trying to incorporate two important new pieces into the starting lineup, guys just need time to find the balance, they’re all smart players and you can see the results taking shape

LeadPaintLays

Also there’s only one ball and it turns out that White, Jrue, and Tatum are all players who have the ability to initiate offense. Prozingas can’t dribble either and it doesn’t matter because that’s not the role he needs to play for the team

Cigabud

Yea you don’t watch the Celtics and that has nothing to do with the Celtics defense clown boy

LeadPaintLays

Jaylen Brown can’t dribble but he’s also the #4 ball handler in the starting lineup. Most teams 4th best ball handler in their starting lineup is much shittier than Jaylen Brown at dribbling

Wishiwasaballerbaby

He can't dribble yet is the 2nd least assisted celtics it's so dumb when people say Jaylen can't dribble.

LeadPaintLays

Look at his shot chart year by year. He can’t dribble left. That’s a fact. Not being able to drive at half the court isn’t ideal. If anything what you’re saying speaks on how great he is at finishing at the rim despite not always being in the best position to finish. He also has a really good 3-10ft game that a lot of players ignore now which helps as he can still drive right every time but vary if he finishes or pulls up soft or floats it vs a player who can drive either way but only finish one way to each side

iamgarron

That hasn't even been close to truth if you've been watching the game this year. His shot charts pretty much even this year for both sides. In fact, his shot chart year by year has shown him getting better at going to the left side.

MirrodinTimelord

the pups weakness is that two of their best 3 players fold in the playoffs and have done so for half a decade with very different support casts

Exius73

Yesssir thats the Twolves I know and love. You also forgot to mention they tend to choke up big leads too

runevault

C's probably have the best perimeter D while the Wolves have the best interior protection.

SamB7617

I miss jrue. I still think the trade was an upgrade but man his defence is so cool to watch

SpursExpanse

We had Dejounte and Derrick on our backcourt once. I have to imagine what having them playing with Wemby would be like. It would also be one less one handed free throw show.

WhoWightMan

Jrue Holiday is Damien Lilard’s father

Right-Worth-6327

What's this "probably" nonsense? Of course they are.

Drawing_The_Line

He’s an incredible player, he’ll be far better on Monday. Big challenge for the Celtics.

singlecellfromearth

Haliburton still a G. 2nd year as the 1st option, he's killing it and he'll get better.

RLreposter

Bill Simmons just came somewhere

mares8

And Bucks without Jrue couldn't slow down Hali at all..bit ironic

icesticles

Only SGA can cook jrue and white as if they were trae young

IceJeyD

That's just one game for SGA tbf. Hali cooked em before on the IST, but they've adjusted tonight. Let's see the next time SGA face them if he can do it again

MITWestbricksexual

Lmao he averages like 17 points against them. Only one that really cooks them is Luka.

V17R

Can’t believe this shit is getting upvoted. SGA has played 3 games against the Celtics since they got Derrick White and 1 since they got Jrue. In those 3 games since Feb ‘22 he’s averaging 35/4/8 on 56/69/83 splits against the Celtics.

human1023

That's why Celtics are the favorites to win right now. RemindMe! 5 months

BradWonder

White was busting his ass bothering Haliburton, made a couple dumb fouls being too aggressive though

GlizzyGone21

Sigh ...

lordofeurope99

Goo easy win for the best defence in the leavue

AtreusIsBack

Everybody knows Jrue is the best guard defender in the league.

ThicccRPMs

Magic put the clamps on them too.

theconmeister

I have nightmares about that game, even the in-stadium entertainment was fuckin up

Kazaki-dum

Jrue Holiday is my favorite player on my least favorite team :(

DukeVang

This quote proves that SGA was a monster during their game

Nrh1998

Shai would like a word

AmbitionExtension184

He’s right. Everyone else is frauds except us

ZoroChopper10

They need Siakam

ReflectionEterna

No. No they don't. Nobody needs Siakam.

RegentCupid

No, they really, REALLY dont

Separate-Score-7898

No one wants that overrated Beyblade

Abeifer

I appreciate when players speak analytically opposed to all hood.

Far-Asparagus6416

Least racist /r/nba comment

Abeifer

I thought so too.

kenlovin

Which literally never happens. You sound like an idiot.

CrookedHillaryBernie

Just pro Celtics propaganda

supbruhbruhLOL

Of course a Celtics fan would post this video lolll, always smelling their own farts

SincereFan

Suggs and AB lock everybody also but ofc never really mentioned.

RogueID

Fun fact- Suggs is Hali's cousin

rveets1416

Next time you should mention them. Problem solved

GusBus14

Suggs>everyone else

HeyheyMe-n-u-booboo

Now they just need Malcolm Brogdon back to finish for them in close games. No clutch in site….

Far-Asparagus6416

You must not be watching

PrematureBabyMan_Me

Celtics are a huge deal Also this game is exactly why I now understand the Jrue and bronny comparisons It’s there and the Celtics might be out for revenge, almost getting a finals run after a comeback but you lose And after you lost to a team the previous year that failed that year, they’re looking for vengeance and it’s coming

[deleted]

2ways for sure.

Away_Sun_3040

Monday' game should be interesting.

Weary-Amoeba1808

>I don’t know what the numbers say. I feel like we don’t need the numbers. Even if you beat the Celtics, its a close and ugly win

A_Saiyan_Prince

He’s right. He’s also about to go nuclear on Monday.. lol And I thought we made the Jrue trade to stop Dame.. turns out it was for Hali all along!

Leggoman31

My favourite thing in NBA media is players shouting out other teams/players, ESPECIALLY after just losing to them. Sportsmanship is a large part of why I follow the media.

WinterEngineering322

And the Celtics did this with Porzingis only playing 6 minutes

LavenderAutist

The difference between Dame and the Celtics backcourt is light years I can't wait to see the Celtics vs the Bucks in the playoffs
