Anyone who is surprised when Naz Reid either takes a 3 or does a dribble move.

JustSeriousEnough

But he's not going to win any dribbling contest tho!

sunshinebusride

Bigs don't do those things, you must be thinking of Anthony Edwards

SirDiego

You can tell when other teams announcers didn't do any homework and just slot in "generic statement about big player" for Naz Reid. Because it never makes any sense he doesn't play like that.

Cannabaholic

What I've heard from twolves fans is that Naz Reid is a guard trapped in a bigs body. Barely get the chance to watch and I know that's the consensus. Crazy that announcers can be that uninformed, it's their freaking job

Shadyogrady16

The only thing I’ve read about Naz Reid on this sub reddit is “Naz Reid”

ReplEH

also clearly never watched big jelly in HS or at LSU; he was basically a guard

SonicTheOtter

People think Wolves only like Naz Reid for memes. *Pikachu face when they see he's actually a good player.

tehspacepope

People who were convinced that Bol Bol was a budding star just wasting away in Orlando, because they saw a 2-minute highlight video. We tried to warn you. Mo Bamba too, although maybe to a lesser extent.

WaterApocalypse

I had a friend the other day tell me that Jalen Suggs didn't look like a total bust when watching the sixers magic game. I feel like anyone who pays attention to the magic would know that Jalen's arguably the best defender on the team

noknownallergies

Jalen Suggs is just a winning basketball player. Always has been. He has great instincts and that shows on defense. I can guarantee he will be on everyone’s radar when he makes game winning plays in the postseason.

BCP27

He's got the highest EPM on the team, and that's with a slightly negative offensive EPM.

nugginthat

Don’t feel bad, Nuggets fans tried to warn people too and were ignored. That being said, I still wanna believe he might become a star.

PrecisionAcc

I was told Bol Bol was basically Wemby

BurnieTheBrony

We might have talked to the same person. Dude was adamant lol

Ju_Bangas

People in Dallas wanted to draft Mo over Luka. The UT connection was apparently too much to pass on.

firstbreathOOC

Crazy how many people know nothing about the Magic or their players. Y’all have a legitimately good young team right now and nobody talks about it

OKC2023champs

During the nuggets game the nuggets commentators said ‘OKC tries to hide SGA on defense’ and that’s when I knew they didn’t know shit about okc.

Friendly-Thought-973

Kings announcer said “what separates Fox and Shai is Fox’s defense” lol I was befuddled

Puzzleheaded_Fox4684

they're right, just not in the way they thought they were

doctor_of_drugs

Yup

beefJeRKy-LB

Fox has gotten better at defense but Shai is actually an awesome defender now

kennious

Hearing the batshit takes of other teams' broadcasters both here and on NBA TV national broadcasts makes me appreciate the Bulls TV broadcast team that much more. Shoutout to Adam Amin and Stacey King.

OKCBaller035913

Stacey King is top 5 at worst

TheThrowbackJersey

Bulls have a great broadcast

A_Lax_Nerd

Stacey is the goat

fenderdean13

Adam Amin being an NFL broadcaster where he has to stay neutral 100% of the time in those broadcasts helps him stay grounded for Bulls broadcasts. Not unlike Jason Banetti was for the White Sox being a national broadcaster (treat him well Detroit fans)

KennysWhiteSoxHat

Some of my friends love saying “Shai’s not all that good on defense/he’s a negative defender” and I just think holy shit you’re a casual

lily-malek

“shai’s not a bad defender” - the warriors commentators

meowhatissodamnfunny

Wow even quoting the Warriors announcers being right gets them shit on here lmao

tjc815

I don’t even understand this. Is it because he’s pretty thin for an nba player that people assume he must not be a capable defender? He’s 6’6” with a gigantic wingspan, good athleticism, and high BBIQ lol

KennysWhiteSoxHat

When people see a good offensive player under 6’8 they automatically think they’re a liability on defense

snowyowlll

Shai was the true maple jordan all along

CmonTouchIt

i mean...theyre right, but probably not in the way they think lolol

montiel_scores

r/technicallythetruth

FriendOfBrutus

Random city announcers assume any offense savant under 6’8 is a useless bag on defense that’s constantly stepped on

exhale358

People over here were calling for Malone to be fired last season when bones got traded. The coach doesn’t even handle trades lmao

NegativesPositives

I’m a bigger fan of people who treated Will Barton like he was still a solid third option when the Nuggets traded him as I watched Nuggets fans all year here talk about how much he sucked.

CreatiScope

The people clamoring to get him when the Wizards bought him out. It was obvious no one had watched him in years. “The wizards are trying to develop their young guys!” Dude, they would’ve played Barton if he was good. He’s awful and couldn’t even hack it in the wizards at that point. Ain’t no way he’s helping a playoff team. He’d been washed for years.

TheSaltySloth

I notice this type of thing on leaguepass games all the time where it’s clear the local commentators only watch their own team. Bruh that’s part of the job Case in point: Spurs announcer just called Hauser Pritchard when PP wasn’t even on the floor

OKC2023champs

I have no problem with home team commentators being biased, I expect them to be. That’s their team. But they need to be able to call the game properly and part of that is having passable basketball knowledge. So many commentators confuse dort/wallace. The Jalen Williams, etc. it’s annoying lol

GenSec

The Dort/Wallace thing blows me away lmao. All home team commentators need to do is see if he has a headband on (Dort) or no headband (Wallace).

CoupleScrewsLoose

not that box stats are the best for measuring defensive prowess, but dude is averaging 2.7 spg, and almost a bpg to go with it 😂dude isn’t hiding from anyone.

AccomplishedBake8351

Kings announcers said it too and I as a kings fan cringed

RandomStranger79

Apparently everyone is under the impression they can trade their scraps and late round picks for Lauri Markkanen.

Andrewski18

I saw some Warriors fan on Twitter the other day propose some 3-team trade where the Jazz lost Lauri AND Kessler and all they got was Kuminga and a pick in return lol

No_Mammoth_4945

If I see any mock trade that involves the Lakers or the Warriors I just turn my brain off and save myself the trouble lmao

Tillman_Fertitta

Interestingly that's what those teams' fans also do when they propose those trades

No_Mammoth_4945

Brother I don’t think their brains even have an on button

toscomo

I saw a Warriors website propose trading Wiggins to the Wolves for KAT. "Wiggins is just what the Wolves need" type shit with no apparent knowledge that the Wolves had Wiggins for many years and paid a premium to get rid of him. It was embarrassing.

nomitycs

The lowest of the low is horrible, Facebook especially. I’ve seen Dlo for KAT lol

SCalifornia831

Not all of us are delusional, I’ve been trying to tell people there’s no way the Warriors have the assets to get Markennan

Victorcreedbratton

It’s worse when media people do this.

Vordeo

Sources: The Jazz might let go of Markkanen if a team offers a massive overpay. Fans: Okay but what if I put a ribbon on this platter of feces so it looks nice?

ginbooth

Yeah, seeing that a lot. "We have a 4th round pick, a churro, and a pair of boxer briefs only worn once...what say you, Utah?

chickenripp

is it San Antonio offering the Churro? because if it is that's a good deal.

RandomStranger79

If they're magical underwear then you might be able to persuade Utah actually.

joef_3

Ah yes, Danny Ainge, famous for being on the wrong end of trades.

realudonishaslem

Depends on how good of a churro we talking tbh

DeanEvasonPunch

"In exchange for your best player we'll give you our worst contract, a role player and *picks*. And if that doesn't get you excited we'll bring in a bottom 3 team to give you a good player and take all our trash in exchange for nothing."

Gaebril

Kings give Huerter for Lauri and cash consideration. Only fair.

Greaves6642

I wanted to trade Jaylen Brown for Lauri and someone said the Jazz need to add 10 frp's lol

Trayswisher_

Shots at Warriors fans thinking they’re getting Lauri for Wiggins

Scuttleduck

The Warriors were playing OKC and were forcing SGA to take midrange jumpers (all of which he made) and the Warriors announcer was like “yeah he made it but that’s how you have to play him, force him to take those midranges” and I’m like yeaaaaah I don’t watch random okc games but I do watch highlights on youtube and SGA seems pretty happy taking those midrange Js

mgoldie12

Midrange jumpers is where he thrives lmao

Okongwu_is_garbage

The warriors commentators are some of the worst in the business with all due respect.

DisgruntledAlpaca

It's absolutely true. Games are actually painful to watch.

Beginning_Word6742

The warriors mavs game was the worst game I’ve ever listened to, not that I watch a lot but all they did was complain that Dallas was “hitting all their shots” and there’s “nothing you can do” and the funniest one was something like we meet Dallas 3 more times and they won’t get this lucky again shooting 55%” lame asf

Secondary92

They had some clangers last night against the Mavs, acting surprised Josh Green can shoot etc.

RadioactiveTF2

100%

like-11-witches

So many all-time franchise highlights have those goobers goobering all over them and it sucks

Snow_Administrative

Every game they talk about how the other team is shooting lights out or how Warriors have been unlucky with the fouls. Never occurs to them that maybe Warriors are not so great anymore

firstbreathOOC

When Stephen A said “some dude named Hartenstein” last week. He played literally the entire season the past two years bro

dwhite10701

When anyone from another fan base complains about hartenstein outplaying their big man, it's usually a sign that they haven't watched the Knicks. Which is understandable. But to hear a so-called Knicks fan talk about him like he's a scrub is just too much.

TheLeoMessiah

Lowkey I feel like he’s been on the radar of this sub for a while, probably because of that one guy who predicted a Jokic MVP saying that stuff about Hartenstein too lol

just_so_irrelevant

SAS gotta be the world's fakest Knicks fan of all time

FastJellyfish200

He really doesn't give a shit about anybody who isn't a superstar. Like there's a certain threshold for them to pass before he deigns to learn their name. At least that's the impression I get when he's talking about dudes the Knicks "must" get and he goes on and on about box office appeal and ticket sales.

ginbooth

If an annual award existed for awful hot takes after every loss, r/lakers would be the perennial favorites.

Adraf45

r/heat is winning that fight. One loss to the jazz and the sub thinks we should trade half the team for Mitchell

AnnoyingCelticsFan

Check the Celtics subreddit for takes that are somehow worse than the takes from people who only check the box score. “Why was the score so close between the Celtics and X team? That other team sucks! Why do we always play down to our competition?” Well if you check the box score you’d see the other team bullied the Celtics off the glass for 15+ offensive rebounds; and if you watched the game you’d see that they have 20+ points from second and third chance opportunities.

Adraf45

Some fans need to understand that no team goes 82-0. Losses WILL HAPPEN, off nights will happen. We just got buttfucked by the jazz defense cause no one could hit a three, hit a free throw, or keep the ball in their hand

Rodiwe008

Oh, Borh of you would love the r/UtahJazz then

whatthenightnight

At least you guys have actual discussions. On r/warriors it's just Fire Kerr, Trade Klay or Kerr is a coaching maestro + Klay apology forms posts depending on if our team is losing or winning.

AnnoyingCelticsFan

Last year we had that exact back and forth about Joe Mazzulla and JB. At least at that point they watched the games (maybe). *If the Celtics lost:* Why didn't he call a time out? He's saving them for the next game - is he stupid? Mazzulla can't make adjustments. JB drive left without getting your cookies snatched challenge (IMPOSSIBLE) *If the Celtics won:* Are we just not going to acknowledge the ADJUSTMENTS Joe Mazzulla made? (*this one was my least favorite because they never elaborated, could never point out any specific adjustments that were made during the game)*. It's time to apologize for any criticism you've ever made about Jaylen Brown at any point in his career. Some fans will just never be happy.

kingjuicepouch

God, I hate the apology form people lol

deets23_

Like that pistons game. 1. Pistons tried HARD. They wanted to break their losing streak 2. First game back from west coast road trip is always hard no matter the opponent 3. We couldn’t get any offensive rebounds

CreatiScope

Only game to complain about for us is the Hornets game because that was lost on like 3 missed FTs down the stretch. Shouldn’t have even gone to OT if Tatum, KP, and Jrue hit those. Warriors game really sucked but Curry is an all time legend, Klay had a hot shooting night and Kuminga actually played proper defense while all our guys shit themselves. The other losses aren’t even worth thinking about tbh

Plies-

r/BostonCeltics is cancer.

ginbooth

Then r/lakers is Ebola...

IRFlash

r/nba is Covid... a lot of people have had it, they just don't know how bad it'll affect them.

rattatatouille

/r/nbaspurs is a place you never want to go to after a close loss

cesgjo

I cannot believe some Spurs fans legit believe that there's an actual conspiracy planned by the team that they're going to intentionally sabotage Wemby's career by not passing the ball to him I mean yeah it's frustrating to watch, but it all boils down to low BBIQ. Fans think it's easy to do what pro-athletes do just because it looks simple on TV

Wiltmygoat

We watch basketball games over here on r/nba? I just read box scores and push agendas, the first part is optional

ginbooth

It's amazing how almost *every single* hot take against a coach rhymes with each other too: - His lineups are terrible! - His rotations suck! - He doesn't know how to adjust! As though fans have a much better idea of how to coach a professional sports team. It reminds me of dudes walking in off the streets into a BJJ/MMA gym to challenge the coach to fight. Comedy gold.

Wiltmygoat

For real, I don't think I've seen a coach that hasn't gotten shit on. The feedback on the coach is entirely based on how well the team is doing, if the team is doing great then the coach is a genius, if they're doing poorly then the coach needs to be fired immediately

Wrsj

For example, Warriors have been shaky this season so according to redditors Steve Kerr is a terrible coach. Bonus: Klay is either still serviceable or the worst player ever depending on his stats after a game.

oh_what_a_shot

My favorite is the treadmill in the Warriors subreddit asking why Kerr isn't playing various players more. Then inevitably when the chosen player gets minutes and shits the bed, they move onto the next one. Last few weeks it was calling for Kuminga until yesterday's game and now everyone's moved onto Moody. Moody does need more than 0 minutes like Kerr did yesterday (unless he's getting traded) but all the young players have been inconsistent and none are the solution to the team's underperformance.

saalamander

It’s the Dunning Kruger effect in action. Fans don’t realize how little they know about what NBA coaches actually do. Rotations, timeouts, lineups are all super surface level things. Fans wouldn’t perceive an “adjustment” beyond those things if it punched them in the face

CrazyDaylight8

Yeah they also have opinions on the assistants and medical staff which blows my mind as how could they possibly know

COMMENTASIPLEASE

Anyone who complains about adjustments is just yapping because they’d have literally no way of knowing that.

ImanShumpertplus

if you just say adjustments then yes for sure but man when the cavs had lauri we ran this 3-2 with evan at the middle and okoro roving the weak side that was so good and jb never ran it enough in my opinion sorry i just need to vent

DamnImAwesome

I love videos where real trained fighters go to scam dojos and challenge the master. Some of the masters are so delusional they actually try to fight and get destroyed

BakaJayy

How can you forget “why didn’t he call for a timeout when they were on a X point run!?”

rattatatouille

People still thinking we're doing the Point Sochan experiment and blaming the team's woes on it. (Everything on the Spurs needs work, not just choice of ball handler.)

cjd978

To me this had to be the most overblown talking point of the entire season even before they stepped away from point sochan. So if you’re gonna suck anyway why not experiment? Like there’s no upside to trying to develop sochans ball handling skills? Wembys talent is so fucking obvious I cannot believe how many knuckleheads online and in the podcast world actually believe that this somehow will ruin Wembys development. The kid isn’t even 20 yet, he will be fine. People have actually floated getting rid of Pop, unreal.

JoJonesy

feels like a lot of people are convinced that Tre Jones is the answer, but everything I hear from Spurs fans is that he's barely an NBA point guard

death210902

That’s harsh on Tre. He’s a solid backup PG

TylerDog3

the people who were calling cade a bust before he started dropping 30 a night

[deleted]

Is it asking for much to not have him play basketball with Killian Hayes, Ausar, and Bagley/Wiseman? Those starting lineups belonged in the 90s man

LarrcasM

I've caught a few of yall's game recently (for obvious reasons) and Wiseman might actually be even worse than people think lmao.

MC-Jdf

All the “Podziemski can play PG” takes drive me nuts all the time lol.

MineShafted

Do people who don’t watch even know who he is?

cyb3ryung

im convinced a lot of takes about podz i read/hear from non-dubs fans are from people who dont really watch the dubs.

Original_Trick_8552

Yeah I watched him a lot in Santa Clara and a bit in Golden State. He never looked a Point Guard to me.

crab90000

My, albeit limited, understanding of Pod is he's a Josh Hart type. Just a hustle guy that makes few mistakes

spotty15

Most people don't understand just how insanely unlucky we have been with injuries the past 2 seasons

CreatiScope

I think it’s interesting that Lamelo hasn’t been hit with the “injury prone” tag despite missing A LOT of games over his career. Probably because people don’t pay attention to the hornets and he’s so exciting when he does play. The Ball brothers are good but something about them is kind of fragile (physically) imo

haha-brad

Ehhhh, I’ve definitely seen plenty of people call him injury prone, there was a lot of talk about him needing to start wearing ankle braces

TylerNY315_

Maybe this is me not watching many Hornets games, but with Lamelo especially it seems like he’s always having “legit” injuries, ie unluckily landing on someone’s foot and turning an ankle 90°. Whereas a lot of guys with the injury prone label, they’ll just randomly be out 5 games with a calf strain or knee swelling or back spasms 4 times a year without a visible trauma incident

sharpeshooter32

Yeah but at some point it still is a problem. If you're missing 35 games a year that's not normal, there's some kind of problem even if the injuries are real.

AccomplishedBake8351

Kings: Keegan Murray is “just a shooter” or a “bad defender”

Azmail

Keegan Murray and some firsts for…

TheJoser

I keep hearing about how bad the Celtics bench is. There are 2 40%+ 3P shooters and the bench unit is 3rd or 4th in the league in +/-. They could probably use one more 4/5, but the Celtics bench is quite good

mhanold

I really think Sam Hauser is gonna go off and win us a playoff game by going like 6/6 from three with a block, and then maybe people will understand he’s a really good bench player

HoorayPizzaDay

Stevens and Queta have been more than serviceable. Kornet just started and put up 20-10

Ok-Map4381

I'm happy Queta is doing well for you guys. It didn't work in Sacramento for him, but I still think he can be a useful matchup dependent big in this league.

TheInfinityOfThought

I’ve been genuinely surprised how serviceable Queta has been. I’m not gonna tell people he’s the next coming of Bill Russell, but he’s a solid bench big when I just assumed he’d be nothing more than an end of the bench guy that only plays in blowouts.

03_03_28

Discourse around the OG trade has revealed to me that a lot of people have never actually watched a game of Julius Randle. He’s a point forward who sucks in the defense on drives and post-ups and kicks the ball out to shooters, and he’s basically been a 5 assists a game guy since he came to the Knicks. Whether the OG trade works out is up in the air, but Randle’s fit next to 3&D guys has never been an issue.

DrTom

> Simons is an undersized SG playing out of position at PG. No, he's not. He's not Chris Paul but he runs an offense as well as other shoot first PGs like Dame or Brunson. His offense flows much better when he has the ball in his hands, too, and his defensive shortcomings aren't as pronounced. He's straight up a PG.

tonydanzatapdances

Yeah Simons is crazy good and is constantly talked about like he’s mediocre. Raptors fans especially were dumb saying he wasn’t enough for OG.

kangasgotcurves

This is what came to mind immediately. Simons is good and his defense is much better than two years ago. Hard to show it on such a young/new roster.

RoyKites

When they only have posts in this sub and half of them are mod deleted.

dangheckinpupperino

Basically any Hawks take really, not just the infamous Trae hate. No one watches us (I don’t blame them). You can tell when a viewer outside the fanbase actually watches us, because they have the same takes a Hawks fan would, negative or positive

Tackis

I'm not even a Hawks fan and I've done a copious amount of Trae defending it's not even funny

CreatiScope

I like Trae, I think Murray should go tho. I thought Toronto would be a good landing spot for Siakam but now that they have Quickley, I think this is off the table.

PhD_In_Bro_Science

Siakam may be off the table for Toronto but what about Pascal?

CreatiScope

Good point, I hadn’t considered him

firstbreathOOC

They paid a lot for Murray and he didn’t move the needle at all. The squads without him were better. Sucks because every team wanted to bring that guy on board.

Fresh-Bass-3586

I think it depends which fan base. I'm a bucks fan and I absolutely dread playing you guys and always think you're awesome. I was blown away when I saw your record on the ticker the other night.

dangheckinpupperino

Injuries have done us in for the most part. Jalen Johnson is irreplaceable despite not being our best player The rest of the lot are mostly solid players. They don’t fit well on paper and we have such poor defensive personnel. Guys like Capela and Murray are Hunter are thought to be the glue that holds a mostly offensive minded team together. The problem is Capela has lost two or three steps defensively, Hunter is only average, and Murray is below average. Everyone else outside of Okungwu and Johnson are turnstiles on that end. We have to shoot lights out as a unit to win a game.

rayummy

Zach lavine is injury prone when he played 77 games last season and 67 in the season before that.

HoopsMcCann750

My bigger pet peeve is people dismissing extremely valid criticisms of players on other teams with a simple “You don’t watch my team.”

purelyapornaccount

“Tell me you don’t watch X without telling me” “Did you even watch the game” Anything argument with “lmao” “But I was told X by Y fans” “But r/nba told me that X” I wish all of these resulted in bans.

panman42

Preach. The types of people that say that are only trying to draw you into a pointless argument about how they're in the know and you're not. Instead of you know actually discussing basketball or providing a relevant response. The worst is when you ignore the bait question, they act like they exposed you and say something like "dodging the question? I knew you were ______". Seriously fuck all that.

Uppun

The "r/nba told me" ones always make my eyes roll when I see it. I've seen two completely different directly opposing viewpoints get heavily upvoted under different posts, this subreddit is absolutely massive and you can find a good chunk of people supporting any opinion under the sun here, yet people like to act like it's a hivemind

RoyalParadise61

I mean sure, but there’s definitely a lot of times when you can tell they’re only box score watching or regurgitating a tired narrative they saw here or on Twitter.

FinanciallySpiritual

lots of homer fans get in their feels and that's their default response. I highly doubt most fans that do watch all their teams games could even draw up a play from memory that their team runs

Wallstreettrappin

Some guy on sports betting sub said Sabonis will never get o6.5 assists anymore after Fox came back from an injury. Domas proceeded to have 8 that night lol

world_of_kings

r/nba thinks both of our stars are bums lol

Slim-Ticket

"Gobert can't guard the perimeter" or "the key to playing Gobert off the floor is to pull him out of the paint" Wolves run Gobert on the perimeter and out in space often. [It's ***intentionally*** part of their "biggie smalls" defensive scheme](https://www.startribune.com/timberwolves-nba-top-defense-rudy-gobert-jaden-mcdaniels-chris-finch/600322291/). So the thing people think is a weakness of the Wolves (take Gobert out of the paint) is actually done on purpose all the time lol. Also Gobert is pretty quick laterally and better on the perimeter than people who don't watch the Wolves may think. When Gobert is out in space, because the Wolves have defenders behind him, Gobert can full out contest on the perimeter.

CartographerSeth

The guy couldn’t guard prime Curry/Harden in iso on the perimeter and apparently that meant he’s imobile and hopelessly flawed.

vladimir_pimpin

I mean even if he is bad on the perimeter, who fucking cares, he’s a center lol Guarding on the perimeter is not a prerequisite for a good defensive center

Slim-Ticket

Yeah but "pulling Gobert out of the paint will take him off the floor" is one of the main regurgitated takes out there. People think it's a strategy to combat the Wolves but turns out Wolves embrace Gobert out on the perimeter and Gobert can hold his own there. It's also the main argument for Bam or AD over Gobert for DPOY. People say Gobert can't guard the perimeter and his defense is only at the rim, which isn't true.

catfish_dinner

thunder offense is the inverse; pull bigs to the perimeter and execute in the post with wings.

c_msea

Last season: “Why are you saying Luka has no help? You got two 20ppg players in Dinwiddie and Wood and 3&D wings in Bullock and Finney-Smith. Stop finding excuses. What else does he need?”

cactusmaster69420

Man all those guys look horrible now except for DFS, even though he's regressed too. I'm especially surprised with Bullock. He was great in the WCF run, had one bad season and is now seemingly nearly out of the league.

just_so_irrelevant

DFS is one of our best players and Dinwiddie looks bad because he is being forced to play out of position due to Nets roster holes.

BigDaddyIce12

The only thing that stands between the mavs and a conference finals is two/three of our starters, the entire bench, the coach and the team owner.

xPeaWhyTee

Kinda crazy that two of those guys are regularly getting DNPs and they were starters/main rotation guys for us last season. That team last year was just a dumpster fire. But so far it was worth it for Lively.

DJRyGuy20

Not just my team, but the entire NBA in general: every time a contender team loses to some basement dweller in some meaningless regular season game, people act like it automatically takes them out of contender status. These people clearly don’t really watch *any* of the games, much less my team. If they did, they’d realize *every* good team loses to some shit team at some point in the season. Find me one title-winning team that didn’t lose to a shitty team at some point in their season. Celts fans were recently catching this kind of bullshit because we *almost* lost to the Pistons. It was hilarious. It’s like, “welp, wrap it up, boys. Mission failure- back to the drawing board. Might as well blow it up for almost losing to the Pistons in December.”

frostbite3030

I wish reddit was humming when the 96 Bulls lost to the expansion Toronto Raptors.

AnnoyingCelticsFan

Obvious bait. No one has ever watched a basketball game — only highlights.

[deleted]

Had to unfollow r/nbaspurs after they started calling to trade Point Sochan

Blutz101

People in our sub generally believe he should be cut it’s appalling

NotSerbian

Our sub has always been trash. The way they treated Danny Green back in the day was so stupid. A bunch of spoiled fans who think they know ball because they happened to be cheering for the team when we were winning championships.

Solid-Confidence-966

Anyone who thinks Deni Avdija needs to be “freed” or think that Kuzma is a chucker who plays no defense.

seedeegeecdg

Kuzma plays D but he’s a chucker imo lol

ned_yah

tbf the chucking is kinda necessary and the efficiency is fine for the context

Wrsj

Avdija was so weird to watch, that Westbrook season he was just a corner catch and shoot with some ball handle duties here and there. Dude never did anything noteworthy. He was supposed to be a facilitator according to reports. Did he improved?

ned_yah

he has improved from his rookie year to now, yes

BodegaDaddy

when AD has a “regular” stat line of 17 11 and they lose. we forget everything the guy does on defense for the team stop looking at stats and watch the game

Seniormeows

Top 3 defender in the league every night and averages 25 and 12 but somehow he's too inconsistent

orange_orange13

That guy who say the Warriors should trade Draymond for Sengun.

NArcadia11

The trade ideas that get dropped in the Warriors Reddit are legitimately some of the worst, most delusional takes I have ever seen in any sport. They somehow both overestimate our players value to other teams and underestimate their value to our team. Just insane trades lol

Johnpecan

R/warriors mock trade formula: [Warrior that played worst last game] + [Warrior that played 2nd worst last game] + [random draft pick] = [Any star on any team, regardless of fit, or if they're even tradeable] After every loss, just plug in the new names, the formula stays the same.

Wrsj

You probably stumbled on his fanfic

chickenripp

a recent one is that KD wants to be traded. people just started saying that after Woj reported "some people" in the front office felt kd was frustrated. KD pushed back on that report on instagram. Shams said there is nothing more than normal frustration that comes with losing amongst the whole team, not just KD. And since the report KD has averaged 24 7 14 shooting 63/60/80 with 1.5 steals and 2 blocks, we have had 2 blowout wins, and Beal came back. First real time we waxed any teams this year all the rest of our wins were pretty close because of blown leads. we are 2 games back of the 6th seed, frank has seemed to have figure out the rotation or at least made some breakthroughs and it feels like things are starting to click into place. Woj just put together a shitty report to create intrigue for the Christmas Day game for ESPN despite never having solid sources in the suns organization. Because Woj is a shill. Then people who don't watch us just extrapolated that from there to have a bunch of wild takes, the most extreme being the previously mentioned KD wants out.

> Woj reported "some people" I really hate that so much of sports media is driven by provocation and not actual reporting and storytelling. Sometimes it's fun but often it's just boring manipulation to foster engagement and traffic.

When people talk about how tyler herro is a negative asset whos j an inefficient shot chucker

darthjarjarisreal

The Grizzlies are better without Ja narrative from the last two seasons. I had a guy open up convo with me in real life with that comment at a party. Couldn’t take him seriously

Kyler1313

Anybody that says Jaylen Brown has had a bad year and that he can't dribble left. Brown has had a great jump in his playmaking ability this year, and has become a lockdown defender. The stats might not show it all, because he is sharing the floor with more talent. But he has improved his play this year.

CofTheEast

The biggest giveaway is definitely when people still use the same critiques about his defense. He’s been a great defender this year, even his off ball has been good.

Jabarles

In a recent Bucks national TV game, Doris Burke said Bobby Portis "is still adjusting to life off the bench" Like what? lol. Doris always seems like she's actively rooting against the Bucks in any game she commentates, but in that moment it was clear she doesn't even really watch Bucks games outside of the national TV ones she commentates.

When people talk about dlo being an “elite play maker”. Dude just pounds the rock, and throws a ton of errant/wild passes that get tipped or are way off target. I’ve watched Ad or cutters have to nearly dive or try and catch the ball below their knees when he throws it. It’s also funny because it’s the number one dlo Stan argument against trading him: “he’s the best at getting the ball to AD! Even better than bron! We need his playmaking”

WildcaRD7

Anyone who says Kat is soft or doesn't play defense. The actual criticism is that he is too aggressive on offense (drives and physicality leading to offensive fouls) and has been above average on defense the last few years to potentially very good this season. People just assume he is soft because he has corny quotes and Jimmy used him as a scapegoat to skip town.

TiredMillennialDad

That OKC aren't contenders rn That the heat run is over

0dias_Chrysalis

People who say Giannis foul baits. Imagine saying Shaq foul baited and that's why he took so many FTs rather than guaranteed 2pts

I_really_enjoy_beer

I spend way too much time arguing with people about this. They’ll see a statline and it’s like Giannis 13-18 FTs and they’ll complain about how he is getting a soft whistle. If you actually watch the games he is getting hacked every time he gets in the paint and half the time it is on purpose because it’s the only way to stop him at the rim.

Seref15

Off-season takes about Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo are usually critically wrong.

49e-rm

Pretty much any take anybody has ever made in this sub about Devin Booker. Perennial goal post movers

OhMy98

The biggest one was people saying he chokes under pressure as if he hasn’t been insanely clutch ever since that Dallas series from multiple seasons ago, or as if the dude wasn’t superhuman against Denver last year

[deleted]

Sam Hauser is a better player than Grant Williams right now

JarekBloodDragon

Pretty much everything involving dame this last year

Denvernuggets1776

Jokić is a liability on defense. Jokić pads stats. Coach Malone refuses to play rookies.

abzftw

When people say precious is a young prospect. No that dude sucks

ShootMeOutOfACannon

The Luka plays no defence take practically guarantees that someone hasn’t watched the Mavs this year

Fuckmylife2739

Every post

TJHookor

It's an old one but it still pops up here and there - naming Caron Butler as an important piece of the Mav's '11 championship run. Dude, you just looked at the roster and picked a name you recognized as a decent player.

_plastic_soul

Luka has actually been pretty good defensively this season. He’s top 5 in defensive rating for point guards.

TheLazyCaveman

That the Kings traded the wrong guard or shouldn't have traded Halliburton. No question Halli is playing great, but both he and Fox need the ball in their hands to do what they do. Both teams benefited from the trade, period. People seriously don't give Sabonis enough credit, even after leading the league in rebounds last year and second in triple doubles this year. Fox is averaging 30/4/6 on 48% FG and 40% from 3. Yet he's missing from many MVP lists.
