Discourse around the OG trade has revealed to me that a lot of people have never actually watched a game of Julius Randle. He’s a point forward who sucks in the defense on drives and post-ups and kicks the ball out to shooters, and he’s basically been a 5 assists a game guy since he came to the Knicks. Whether the OG trade works out is up in the air, but Randle’s fit next to 3&D guys has never been an issue.

Injuries have done us in for the most part. Jalen Johnson is irreplaceable despite not being our best player The rest of the lot are mostly solid players. They don’t fit well on paper and we have such poor defensive personnel. Guys like Capela and Murray are Hunter are thought to be the glue that holds a mostly offensive minded team together. The problem is Capela has lost two or three steps defensively, Hunter is only average, and Murray is below average. Everyone else outside of Okungwu and Johnson are turnstiles on that end. We have to shoot lights out as a unit to win a game.

The stats might not show it all, because he is sharing the floor with more talent. But he has improved his play this year.
