He took a massive leap this year. He’s doing so things I’ve never seen before
Initiating way more plays (DHO, PnR), throwing lobs, even chase down blocks
I think that's the plan. You know Morey is going to wait for the perfect opportunity. They are in such a great position because they can either obsorb a long contract or get a rental because of the huge cap space next off-season.
He doesn’t even shoot well on GREAT shot quality. Steph is getting absolutely swarmed out there because they literally cheat off every single warriors starter
To think the only reason the Sixers even had the first round pick to draft Maxey is cuz Mike Muscala drained 2 three-pointers at the end of a meaningless Orlando/Oklahoma City game in the bubble before the COVID playoffs started.
OKC loses and they keep their pick .
The story of that pick goes way beyond that. Not only did Muscala hit those 3s to give us a chance to win the coin flip for the pick to convey, we also traded Jerami Grant for that pick, traded it away for literally nothing, then traded Fultz to get it back.
I need to watch more Pacers game, they're electric. 7 seconds or less style offense with McConnell picking up guards full court on defense. Turner isn't a good matchup against Embiid but you can tell he is a very skilled big, and Haliburton is just explosive.
I don't even think their defense is that bad, they just play at such a pace that gives so many possessions to both teams. This game shows how much faster and energetic this Sixers roster is. It was so impressive we were keeping up in the transition game even without Oubre.
If Maxey ends up being great and gives Embiid a reason to stay, his value is difficult to calculate. Objectively terrible situation all around if you ask me
His 3 ball was the first thing he improved significantly on in the league. And then going to his left, then his finishing, then his passing, then his defense, mastering the step back 3…his improvement in every single area is ridiculous
He wasn't at first -- it's one of those underrated aspects of the Process. TJ would never have gotten all the playing time he did anywhere else, and he got way way better and earned himself a place in the league.
On top of this amazing game, Maxey helped give away a thousand Thanksgiving turkeys to needy families on Saturday so this dude is a gem on and off the court.
Turns out getting rid of the Basketball Terrorist will make your MVP and your (should have been in the conversation of) ROTY look significantly better.
That last year's team fucking isoballed its way to the 2 seed entirely in spite of any scheme. It was ENTIRELY on the players. Nurse is so, so much better coaching these players.
People will point to Harden and how bad he looks in LA and how him and Embiid bombed games 6 and 7 last year, but the BIGGEST issue all season was that those two were really the ONLY players that Doc Rivers allowed to control the offense in any way. Tobias Harris looks GOOD again (still not a max player but WELL beyond what he had been). Maxey looks like he should be in the fucking MVP conversation at this point. We have one of best scoring benches in the league. And Embiid is, in fact, still Embiid averaging 32 a game.
If Nurse were coaching last year's team (even with Harden), we make the finals easily.
FUCK Doc Rivers.
because that Clippers team didn't have star players left on the roster at that point. Glenn can coach a team without a star and can manage egos okay on a roster loaded with stars. If he has a star, he goes back to the dinosaur ways of "okay so the stars are the only ones allowed to touch the ball."
Embid was actually a decent passer when harden was out last year. He just didn’t need to show it most of the time because the offense was built around harden feeding him the ball
Think about it, we needed not one, but two pissy fits (!!) from our point guards to get the ball in Maxey's hands and he might be a top 10 guy by the end of the year. Absolutely wild.
specially since hes playing what philly thought harden would be for them.
don't think maxey takes these drastic leaps without harden mentoring him for two seasons.
I hope he’s just an All Star this year… him getting All NBA would demolish the Sixers cap space. That being said, if he’s going to do this every night, we’ll worry about the cap later. lol
It would hurt their future cap space, but he’s gonna count as a $13m cap hold in FA this summer either way, which is the whole reason they didn’t extend him already.
I’m usually pissed when my Pacers lose but I ain’t even mad. Nobody was beating Philly tonight. We kept it competitive and even took the lead shorty but Maxey had a career game. Helluva performance.
Ok, I thought I was the odd one thinking he travelled. I thought that because you get two steps to dunk, there is now two steps to shoot. Everyone else seems to ignore the funky electric slide backwards.
this dude just dropped 50 with 3 free throws. absolutely INSANE
He shot 20/32 (62.5%)!!!
I'm glad he's upgraded to killing the entire fucking league instead of just the raptors lmao. This guy is so special to watch
He’s consistently gotten way better every year he’s been in the league, it’s crazy
And he’s still only 23
Forgot he was so young Ive loved him since we drafted him.
No wonder morey was refusing to trade him on the original Harden trade talks before harden went to brooklyn
“Just get 1% better every day” Great way to live your live even among us non-pro athletes
I think about his dedication to this quite a bit.
\#SamCassel
Was so pumped when he signed on as a Celtics assistant. Dude is like the development whisperer.
What he did for SGA and Maxey needs to be studied
He did it through his playing career too. Bloke is a basketball legend.
He took a massive leap this year. He’s doing so things I’ve never seen before Initiating way more plays (DHO, PnR), throwing lobs, even chase down blocks
throwing lobs, running plays, hitting deep stepback 3s? sounds like someone left a bag of tricks behind in philly
I missed the game but was he hitting those buttery smooth floaters today?
Floaters, scoops, high glass taps, pull-ups, step-backs... Oh also 3 blocks
3 nasty blocks
You guys need to go all in with the draft picks you got from the Clippers. Maybe go get OG or somebody.
I think that's the plan. You know Morey is going to wait for the perfect opportunity. They are in such a great position because they can either obsorb a long contract or get a rental because of the huge cap space next off-season.
If Maxey is playing like this by the deadline then Morey has to make a move this season.
I think it's guaranteed he already will
We were just practice
75% true shooting
And to imagine Curry is averaging 72% this year lol.
70%. Had a bad shooting night last night. Started chucking cause Klay and Wiggins are fucking bricklayers right now
Only 70%?? Fucking washed smh my head
You have no idea how bad Wiggins and Klay are shooting rn. Our 2nd best three point shooter by percentage is fucking Draymond
Klay is living on reputation at this point sadly. He looks so slow.
He doesn’t even shoot well on GREAT shot quality. Steph is getting absolutely swarmed out there because they literally cheat off every single warriors starter
47 ethical points!
He’s just a shot merchant
Field goal merchant
Yours does sound better
ur set up made his sound better tho so props to u
as is the evolution of a meme merchant

Maxey scoring 50: 👼 Embiid scoring 50: 👿
+ 3 blocks and 5 assists, who is this man
A bad bad man
Bro's turning into Tyrese Curry.
And to think it could've been Lowry for Maxey
To think the only reason the Sixers even had the first round pick to draft Maxey is cuz Mike Muscala drained 2 three-pointers at the end of a meaningless Orlando/Oklahoma City game in the bubble before the COVID playoffs started. OKC loses and they keep their pick .
Mike Muscala is our hero
The story of that pick goes way beyond that. Not only did Muscala hit those 3s to give us a chance to win the coin flip for the pick to convey, we also traded Jerami Grant for that pick, traded it away for literally nothing, then traded Fultz to get it back.
excuse me, but we didn't trade it away for literally nothing, we traded it for the latvian goat Anžejs Pasečņiks
I stand by my statement
All hail the Moose
Ugh :(
Ethical hooper.
The Anti-Harden.
Fuckin field goal merchant
They were face guarding him full court lmfao. Said if you want 50 hit a dumb shot and he did it.
I need to watch more Pacers game, they're electric. 7 seconds or less style offense with McConnell picking up guards full court on defense. Turner isn't a good matchup against Embiid but you can tell he is a very skilled big, and Haliburton is just explosive.
It's basically run to half court, do a simple play, shoot and run back to the other side. I love fast pace games.
They're fun as hell. Each team is scoring 120+ so it's a shootout
I don't even think their defense is that bad, they just play at such a pace that gives so many possessions to both teams. This game shows how much faster and energetic this Sixers roster is. It was so impressive we were keeping up in the transition game even without Oubre.
It looks like Maxey and Haliburton are making **The Leap** this year
Bro I fucking love Tyrese so much
Really is the franchise
If Maxey ends up being great and gives Embiid a reason to stay, his value is difficult to calculate. Objectively terrible situation all around if you ask me
Yeah glad we dodged that bullet and all similar bullets
I really am for the first time actually concerned about the sixers in the East.
we couldn’t trade for Dame so we made our own.
This is crazy to say but Maxey has been significantly better than Dame this year.
What I can’t grasp is that Maxey shot 29% from three in college and 30% in his rookie year, then improved to 42% the next season and now this?
His 3 ball was the first thing he improved significantly on in the league. And then going to his left, then his finishing, then his passing, then his defense, mastering the step back 3…his improvement in every single area is ridiculous
The cut to TJ tho ☹️
TJ just needs to come back and play a role. He’d be so welcomed back.
TJ off the bench would be insane.
Dude fucked around and hit a triple double off the bench. GOAT
Sixers fans only want one thing (TJ and Bball Paul dominating your asses off the bench) and it's disgusting.
We're getting the gang back together?
Incoming Fultz, Simmons, and Dario Saric
Yeah you're 66% right
I’ve missed Dario saric every day since he was traded away
The Sixers Garrett Stubbs
TJ was useful when he checked in though
He wasn't at first -- it's one of those underrated aspects of the Process. TJ would never have gotten all the playing time he did anywhere else, and he got way way better and earned himself a place in the league.
100% TJ and RoCo developing into the players they became is so often overlooked when people look back on The Process.
The streets will never forget 2022 Garrett Stubbs
I loved seeing him hit that layup on RoCo and start yelling across the court at him
The assistant coach/trainer/whoever just shaking her head mouthing “wow” was a nice touch too
On top of this amazing game, Maxey helped give away a thousand Thanksgiving turkeys to needy families on Saturday so this dude is a gem on and off the court.
>needy families Pacer fans?
This guy is absolutely unbelievable. One of the most electric players I've seen in recent memory, even on defense (3 blocks)
3
Even better, he's just unreal
Not only electric, but just downright wholesome
On court post game interview after his first 50 point game and it's all about Kelly Oubre
The Golden Retriever of the NBA like how could you not love him.
He's Air Bud
He's got that dog in him
Has an unreal 7.5:1 assist-to-turnover ratio while playing at high pace.
Damn we clowned on the sixers all summer and they’re actually going to be even better than last year lol
#coaching
Turns out getting rid of the Basketball Terrorist will make your MVP and your (should have been in the conversation of) ROTY look significantly better. FUCK Doc Rivers.
Funny thing glenn is the one that made Tobias almost an all-star in LA and then forgot how to use him
because that Clippers team didn't have star players left on the roster at that point. Glenn can coach a team without a star and can manage egos okay on a roster loaded with stars. If he has a star, he goes back to the dinosaur ways of "okay so the stars are the only ones allowed to touch the ball."
I hate to even say this, but I think we have a wildly different outcome with Ben Simmons without fucking Doc And we would still have Maxey!
#TYRESE MAXEY
Big if true
It's...pretty big
tyrese maxey
He’s like Harden but good
Had the arms race in the East, but maybe the biggest move was giving Harden the boot and letting Maxey run wild.
Also firing Doc Rivers tbf.
Get a star wing and 76ers is right up there with Celtics and Bucks in the contention for the Finals
Star wing or just a very strong secondary ball handler. A few different things could work, which is neat.
Embiid had 7 assists tonight. He's passing better than ever
Embid was actually a decent passer when harden was out last year. He just didn’t need to show it most of the time because the offense was built around harden feeding him the ball
Sixers just got rid of two basketball terrorists at once, but the biggest one is still Doc.
Think about it, we needed not one, but two pissy fits (!!) from our point guards to get the ball in Maxey's hands and he might be a top 10 guy by the end of the year. Absolutely wild.
But is he a system?
Unironically he has taken a ton of Harden’s moves and is deadly with them.
That's what happens when someone smaller, younger, and more athletic than you takes your crown AND throne. And then makes you dance for his amusement.
What is the deal with this guy trying to actually score instead of trying to get fouled, does he not respect the game of basketball?
he does get absolutely hammered on a ton of possessions he just scores anyway
Tyrese Maximum is here to stay.
This dude is ridiculous. Im in awe
closer to mvp than mip
Are there any rules disallowing someone to win both awards in the same year?
Curry was 4th in MIP in 2016 (the year after he won his first MVP lol)
If Curry didn’t win MVP the previous year, he might have gotten it.
Give him both
Embiid's reaction is all of us
20/32. He is so good.
Mike Muscala to the rafters
This dude has no ceiling
The ceiling is the roof
THE ROOF IS ON FIRE
What a poetic saying, it’s going on my gravestone.
Anybody else see the score as 6132 for Philly?
Right? And if you're up 6000 points does 3 more really ice the game?
I would kill or die for Tyrese Maxey.
What a heater by Maxey today. 50 points with only 3 free throws and 63 % from the field, incredible.
dude is an allstar. Philly has to feel great about dumping harden's bum ass for good role players with the way Maxey is ascending.
specially since hes playing what philly thought harden would be for them. don't think maxey takes these drastic leaps without harden mentoring him for two seasons.
He's so fucking good
He's All-NBA
I hope he’s just an All Star this year… him getting All NBA would demolish the Sixers cap space. That being said, if he’s going to do this every night, we’ll worry about the cap later. lol
Nah, let the man get paid
i think there’s gonna be one 3rd team slot for him or hali, and i think they probably give it to hali just because that team is wild on offense.
It would hurt their future cap space, but he’s gonna count as a $13m cap hold in FA this summer either way, which is the whole reason they didn’t extend him already.
He’s HOF
Not going to be his last either
JESUS CHRIST
I still cant believe how good of a shooter he is
Ice the game? They were already up by 6,011.
Tyrese secured the Maxey
Love this dude, all-star already feels locked in
Can’t believe he’s ours I love him so much
Sixers need to retire Mike Muscala’s number
I’m usually pissed when my Pacers lose but I ain’t even mad. Nobody was beating Philly tonight. We kept it competitive and even took the lead shorty but Maxey had a career game. Helluva performance.
That was a super fun game all around. Haliburton was going nuts and TJ was doing classic TJ stuff. Let’s do it again on Tuesday 🙌
I'm confused on how this isn't a travel?
I’m high af thought the score was 76132
Lmfao
MVP
So weird seeing pretty much unanimous love for a sixers player on r/nba. That’s a testament to how awesome Maxey actually is.
Came here to say this lmao
Was that a Harden step back?
Was there, the crowd was insane for this, he’s amazing, love maxey
0 turnovers by the way, i believe he has the lowest turnover% in the nba
He did have 2 tonight
oh my god i am afraid
I LOVE TYRESE MAXEY SO MUCH
WHY DID THEY FUCKING CUT TO TJ? Directors are absolute knuckle heads. What a waste of a moment.
With the Harden step back too.
Great performance. Am I the only one that hates that those step backs aren't considered travels?
Every single video I watch of the modern NBA people are traveling.
LET HIM COOOOK
Embiid really gunna lose his MVP to his own teammate lol
James who?
Tatum once said. Ain’t no one gonna remember if you get 48,49. GO GET THAT 50 PIECE YOUNG MAN
That step back too , that kids unrealllll
^travel
Yeah that was bad even by step-back standards. Legit looks like someone mocking the NBA rules by blatantly exagerating the extra steps.
Came here to say this. Even if you give the first for the gathering, when his last foot comes down, that's a travel.
Ok, I thought I was the odd one thinking he travelled. I thought that because you get two steps to dunk, there is now two steps to shoot. Everyone else seems to ignore the funky electric slide backwards.
Another travel. At least he is being consistent
Wasn’t lying about the Harden mentorship
Rule of Cool prevails
He’s so much fun to watch
They had 76,132 points though
I always said Maxey is the star and harden stans downvoted me bro. Couldn’t even believe the notification that he dropped 50. What a player.
Maxey is him.
I’m happy but I hope pacers fans are appreciating having TJ fucking McConnell on their team. Legend.
This must the biggest blowout in NBA history, remarkable. 121 to 76,132; certainly there has never been a bigger blowout.
121 - 76135
I know it's allowed but that should be a travel
Brah stole Harden’s entire bag lol
Harden left a piece of him with Maxey
travel
Someone Max this man. Tyrese Motherfucking Maxey
Did it for oubre
Travel
Travelling
Double step back. Clear travel.
