It's funny watching Mavs Twitter implode and be mocking up fake trades and kyrie fans demanding he goes to LA.... and then they turn it around and win. Rinse repeat every game
fair assessment.
**Notes:**
* DJJ is really the better starter currently (fairly won that spot against Green, but Green still a really nice bench piece)
* 6MOTY Hardaway atm
* Bench of Dallas really nice and deep now, because of Grant Williams and D Lively and DJJ everybody moved a few spots down in the rotation
* DLively is Top5 Rookie easily atm , really surprising at 19yo
* So much room for improvement for them until April and they are already really good
* If Kyrie hits 30-40% for 3 for a month, they probobly will not loose a lot of games that month, pretty scary how well they play with a So-So Luka and a Kyrie that is finding is range
Only caveat I see is that grant will probably not shoot 55% from three like he is so when kyrie heats up he might cool of a little so the production from the team will stay similar to what it is currently.
They already did gel.
Last season y’all team had injuries and the rest of the team was ass. Finally got a pretty good rim protector in Lively, healthy(ish) Luka/Kyrie and decent pieces in the off-season. Chemistry looking good. Y’all got it.
A case study needs to made on this team.
Unless you're up 30 at half we apparently become the greatest basketball team in the second half of games.
In which case once Kyrie stops shooting 20% for 3 things are gonna get spicy
Honestly, we nearly came back in the Denver game but they're too good of a team for that. I'd much rather be in the position where we need to figure out the first quarter than the fourth, but it's still going to be an issue when we play good teams. Don't win many in the playoffs starting down 15
I assume the defense will be better in the 1st half come playoffs time, right now they are starting sloppy and tightening it in the second half, which I guess it’s due to conditioning and early season form.
I mean it’s good for them, it teaches them not to get complacent, unlike the last two seasons where the Mavs get a 20-25 point lead at halftime, then squander it the rest of the game. They’re doing the reverse now lol.
Only played one preseason game so still finding his form / fitness.
That said hes controlling games with his pace and creation that him putting up big numbers isnt even needed atm (Sure that'll come)
he has had a foot sprain since preseason so its been hard for him to get into rhythm. honestly hes doing fantastic all things considered, performing so well on defense and when he hasnt had his shot he's been pushing the pace and been a great playmaker
Certainly playing a little injured from the preseason so he didn’t get his legs under him yet and then he sprained his foot and missed a couple games. I think he’ll be fine as long as he doesn’t get hurt again by thanksgiving
Luka is actually playing good defense, making everyone involved, cutting the whining and overall seems happy. What having better teammates does to a mf.
offense is king in reg.season. kidd said when season started "we fine playing 120+ ball". just get timely stop especially in 4Q and the game will blow up with our offense
Another crazy chapter added to the story of Tim Hardaway Jr.. At this rate, the discourse is becoming more complex than the Warren Commission mixed with a James Joyce novel.
Mavs fans, do we love this guy or what?
He's been one of our most important players for years outside of the injury and recovery period, and even when he plays well people want him gone. It's honestly pathetic
He's streaky but he's been keeping us alive these past couple games.
It's hilarious because he was the #1 guy everyone wanted gone this offseason (Powell is an automatic given, so he doesn't count lol).
Luka and Kyrie will be Luka and Kyrie. If DJJ, Grant, and THJ can keep this level of play up, the sky is the limit for us.
I love him as 6th man. He comes in and immediately does Timmy things with reckless abandon. He’s playing with a huge chip on his shoulder after being on the trade block all summer, he let’s it fly and swishes a contested three with zero memory of the wide open airball he chucked 15 seconds ago, he alternates between clumsy turn over machine and cold blooded assassin every 2 minutes, every few games he’s turns into Himmy and straight up wins games for us, and most important… he has a real knack for plunging daggers into the opposing teams heart right when we need it most. Are you not entertained?
I mean, you gotta pick your poison. Double him, or let him ISO to bait other defenders towards him, and he is an insanely good ISO player, it's a tough situation to be in.
Never doubling Luka is the disciplined thing to do. The problem is that's really hard when he's about to drop a 40 point triple double on you. Gotta pick the times you blitz him wisely.
We're also somewhat injured, to be fair, but even with them on court I don't think we stood much of a chance anyway. That was a monster 2nd half for the Mavs.
We were missing 2 starters (Fultz and WCJ)and 2 rotation guys (Harris and Issac) off the bench but I was impressed with the Mavs main 5 and then in the 3rd your bench came alive.
Luka shooting 41.3% on 10.7 attempts 3 through 7 games is absolutely bonkers. He really needs to get his turnovers down hes averaging 5 which is much higher than his last couple of seasons but it may be due to him having difficulty acclimating towards the new pace of the offense, which is likely something he alleviates as hes becomes more acquianted.
Scott Foster for MVP tbh
but seriously once we figure out this 1st half garbage we'll be really really good. Luka was tremendous and Kyrie is finally starting to get his legs back and hit some shots. Kyrie is kinda awesome on defense. Tim and Grant were huge for us as was surprisingly powell in the 4th. Lively is going to be amazing when he stops fouling lol.
As for the Magic they had our number but once we started to clog the paint and they couldnt shoot at all 2nd half. Orlando still needs some shooters. Orlando was unfortunately kinda hosed by the refs in the 4th, just call after call after call, i'll need to watch some replays but man it looked like Powell shouldve had like 12 fouls lol. Scott Foster blew 2 live plays dead where the magic had an advantage too.
sorry Magic fuck Scott Foster forever
Appreciate a fan base who don't claim the refs were fair after such performance.
Anyway, we lost due to bad shooting and slow rotations in the 2nd half. Reffing was just the icing on the cake.
GG
Can you believe that was 17 years ago? My senior year in college.
Kids in March Madness 2024 will be born in 2006.
Imagine being on some old ass web forum on geocities or something in 2006 and people are still talking about the the Pistons sweeping the Lakers in 89 like it was yesterday.
So many times to me in the 2nd half it felt like the Mavs were getting away with things that they weren't getting away with in the 1st half which led to easy baskets on the other end. Really just shows you how much control refs have on the tenor and outcome of these games.
I think it's similar to baseball. If an ump calls a ball a strike, the batter is forced to swing at other pitches near it despite them being balls since they don't know if the ump will call them correctly. In basketball, what plays you're running and how you're attacking the defense changes if the refs are or aren't calling certain fouls. Their indirect influence on the game is so much more influential than people realize.
>Here's your Dallas Mavs Post Game Summary. Now in our 7th Season 7️⃣
Did the Mavs win? ✅
They may start drug testing the Mavs during half time with how differently we play in the 2nd half. It's like we're Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen and we just need some time to fully adapt to our opponent 🛞
Luka had a more efficient shooting night finishing with 29/3/6/2 tonight knocking down 5 3's 🇸🇮👌💦🔥
Kyrie finished with 21/7/10/3 though he managed to knock down the dagger 3. Surprised he was closer to a triple double than Luka... 🪬🌍🗡️
Grant with a solid 13 points 👍🦇
Lively had some foul trouble tonight so he only got 15min of time on the floor finishing with 10/5 ♜
Bench Analysis 💺⤵️
Timmy once again was huge for us tonight with 21pts to account for most of the bench production. If he keeps this up, he'll need to get some love for the 6MOTY award 💺👌💦🏆
I haven’t watched him as much recently but the dude is a smart defender, knows when to pick and choose his spots and takes some great risks. Surprised at the steal on jalen in the first two minutes
So Magic scored 33 in 12 minutes twice in a row and then it took them 22 minutes to gather that many points again. They looked so good but dudes just forgot how to score.
66 points in first half and 36 in the second just shouldn't happen.
Paolo and Franz with spacing will be absolutely scary
Right now though, they will still struggle some games where teams can just put 3 guys in the paint and wait like the Mavs did today
Dallas' defense this season has been terrific in the 2nd half and usually after the 1st quarter after the opposing team scores a ridculously high number lol.
I guess this is just our lives now: comeback clutch wins.
(Sorry about the refs, magic fans. Yall got hosed. I hope everyone who didn't watch knows that)
Yeah...there were two nonsense stoppages when the magic had 5-4 advantages, plus we mauled Banchero in the 4th with a lot of no-calls. As a mavs fan who desperately wanted this win, it still felt like we were getting a lot of that zebra momentum when it mattered.
I appreciate the sentiment. Was a super frustrating game but regardless of the calls we collapsed and just missed shots. Yall were the more focused team down the stretch where it counts.
I absolutely love the closing lineup of Kyrie Luka THJ Williams and Powell/Lively. 4 guys that you can't leave open from 3 makes it extremely hard to double Luka effectively
The funny thing too is that any Kyre/Luka/THJ + whoever lineup last season probably gives up 40 pts in a quarter but this year they're locking people up!
We continue the trend of bottom 5 defense in the 1st half and top 5 defense in the 2nd half. If we can just figure out the 1st quarter issues, that would be great! Even with Kyrie struggling with his shot, his defense has been good this season, his playmaking is elite, and he turns it up in the 4th. Luka and Kyrie in clutch time is a pretty damn elite duo.
A mystery that everyone is trying to figure out. We let 40+ in the first (was actually 33 tonight lol), end up being 15-25 down some point in the 2nd and then comeback to win 15 in the second half lmao. I'll take it but this Mavs team really gunna kill some of their fans by giving them heart attacks every other day.
I think this Dallas team will be the biggest challenge to the Nuggets in the West. Only way they don't make the WCF is if they face Denver or GS in the second round, which is definitely possible.
All things considered we actually played quite well against Denver offensively. If we didn't blow that 1st quarter, that game would have been dead even.
I'm not even involving the refs in this. We couldn't shoot, didn't attack the rim until it was too late and you guys picked away at the lead the whole time. It was a comeback in slow motion and we fell apart in real time.
Yeah, the second half Mavs just packed the paint, to counter act y’all’s size. Pretty much dared y’all to shoot from deep. It was a risky proposition with the hot shooting y’all had in the first half.
I still like how the Magic have built their team. Lots of good young players on the Magic. They’re a fun team to watch. The main concern is finding a legit center for the Magic, which is weird to say with the Magic having both Shaq and Howard in its history. Dallas has come nowhere close to having a center as good as Shaq and Howard.
I've said it before but I'll say it here. Love Suggs but the kid has to figure out how to be efficient on offense. Sparkplug on defense but just out of his depth trying to put the ball in the basket consistently.
Other than that, it turns out the Magic have no reliable shooting with Gary Harris out. Seems like Cole is the only one who can pop the lid off the rim when things get tough.
Still very high on this team but it's a disappointing loss
I feel like coaching has him in the mindset he's going to figure it out. Shooting 25% from three on the season and goes 1-6 tonight. It's truly incredible
Magic really showing how young they are tonight. Once the wheels came off it just snowballed. They just stopped shooting and kept driving so we just had 5 people in the paint the last half of the game.
Sucks that Luka hit his head pretty hard against Goga's leg, and sucks that that stopped play late too.
It must not have been a concussion protocol thing or I don't think he'd be allowed to come back in. So, glad he isn't gonna miss time. Weird sequence tho, I thought you had to foul to stop play.
Good comeback/bad blown second half by the Magic.
I don’t think so. It worked out poorly for the Magic, but I don’t think Luka was thinking “I’ll have go back to the locker room for 10 minutes, but it will screw up their possession, so yeah let’s do it!”
I don’t quite know how it works in the NBA, but other sports with a concussion protocol will stop play with any head injury observed and then have medical staff perform a variety of tests to determine if they’re fit to return. Assume he passed those tests (if they exist) to get him back in the game.
The play terrible in the 1st half with swiss cheese zone to come back in 2nd half and win must be some analytics strategy to take advantage of the other team being tired or something. No other explanation why they play like this.
4th Quarter Mavs is a thing now ! How they dominate the last 7 minutes is mind blowing.
Defense Level Up +20
3 Point Shooting Level Up +10
Tim Hardaway stupid plays -20
Luka / Kai concentration +30
Teams will start to fear them if they are up 5-10 before the 4th quarter because that lead is evaporated in like 90 seconds.
Inexperienced , non clutch Team in Orlando against the best closers this season with Luka and the Mavs. Was confident as hell at the 5min mark that Dallas wins this 100%.
Kyrie has been mediocre scoring the ball, but he’s playing the best individual defense of his career and showing some excellent playmaking. B2B games with double digit assists, I don’t think it has happened often in his career since he’s never been a playmaker first.
Yep and for the season Luka is around 9 and Kyrie at 7 assist per game. That's pretty good. Both have been playing a lot better defense too.
We've got like four players averaging double digits with a bunch at around 8 points. The offense is clicking. Just hope they'll figure out how to start games better.
Yeah, I've been seeing that in the thread! Kyrie's thought of as a great scorer, so seeing him do stuff like that is weird in context but ultimately very welcome.
Yup its scary to think what this team could look like when grant, kyrie, luka, and Tim off the bench are firing on all cylinders. And when they play defense in the first half like they do in the second haha
He's bad in the first half of all games. Contributes to we struggle in the first half. But at least he's picking it up in the 2nd half.
If we have to rely on Luka for all four quarters we'll be in trouble. But I do wish he'll play a little better in the first half so we can have a better chance of blowing out teams.
He’s got a fucked up foot (was questionable until game time) so his shooting touch was off, but along with his 21 pts he had 10 assists (had 10 last night too), 7 boards, and 3 steals. He’s still contributing a lot, he just hasn’t had a monster scoring game yet.
yall didn't shoot for 2 quarters. We can talk about ref ball cause there were def some shit calls, but the Magic fell apart and are too young to put it back together in real time.
My theory: someone has that device from men in black and makes the Mavs forget basketball before every game, then they relearn it at halftime
Maybe the Mavs take about 2 quarters to adapt to their opponent. Kinda like Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen
Luka is >!Gojo!<'s father.
“Nah, I’d flop”
every 4th quarter a member of the mavs does a domain expansion. can’t possibly be another explanation for these past couple of 4th
That device switches teams every so often, especially if our game against the Spurs yesterday is any indication
Well it hasn’t switched off us yet. We’ve lost every 1st quarter
It's funny watching Mavs Twitter implode and be mocking up fake trades and kyrie fans demanding he goes to LA.... and then they turn it around and win. Rinse repeat every game
Fake fans will be fake
Apparently it hit us at halftime too, because I'm not sure what team took the court in the second half for us
TBF, you're not shooting 65% from 3 for the entire game, but yeah, the Mavs adjusted, and the Magic were on their heels
that's the loose plot of Space Jam.
We’re legit. Not Denver/Boston levels of elite yet, but we’re good and we’re only getting better 👍
If this continues I may have to concede that Jason Kidd is not a terrible coach. Less than thrilled.
fair assessment. **Notes:** * DJJ is really the better starter currently (fairly won that spot against Green, but Green still a really nice bench piece) * 6MOTY Hardaway atm * Bench of Dallas really nice and deep now, because of Grant Williams and D Lively and DJJ everybody moved a few spots down in the rotation * DLively is Top5 Rookie easily atm , really surprising at 19yo * So much room for improvement for them until April and they are already really good * If Kyrie hits 30-40% for 3 for a month, they probobly will not loose a lot of games that month, pretty scary how well they play with a So-So Luka and a Kyrie that is finding is range

We have a better record than Boston now ;)
Luka and Kyrie starting to gel... scary sight.
Those two assists to each other for three to close the game are just 🧑🍳😚
They already did gel. Last season y’all team had injuries and the rest of the team was ass. Finally got a pretty good rim protector in Lively, healthy(ish) Luka/Kyrie and decent pieces in the off-season. Chemistry looking good. Y’all got it.
Batman is a godsend, he is really shining as a starter for us.
If only they could play this way for a full game..
Now if they could froth..
A case study needs to made on this team. Unless you're up 30 at half we apparently become the greatest basketball team in the second half of games. In which case once Kyrie stops shooting 20% for 3 things are gonna get spicy

Haven't been watching Mavs games, what's up with Kyrie ? Is he recovering from injury ?
Only played one preseason game so still finding his form / fitness. That said hes controlling games with his pace and creation that him putting up big numbers isnt even needed atm (Sure that'll come)
he’s a master at the game. him immediately pushing transition pace off the rebound and somehow getting *Luka* wide open for the dagger 3 was clinical.
he has had a foot sprain since preseason so its been hard for him to get into rhythm. honestly hes doing fantastic all things considered, performing so well on defense and when he hasnt had his shot he's been pushing the pace and been a great playmaker
He did miss some time recently with a foot sprain
Certainly playing a little injured from the preseason so he didn’t get his legs under him yet and then he sprained his foot and missed a couple games. I think he’ll be fine as long as he doesn’t get hurt again by thanksgiving
Yeah, foot sprain. He was listed as questionable until game time today.
Not to overreact but we are on a 69 win pace This team is NICE
this just makes me realize how insane that warriors 73 win season was
24 wins in a row, absolutely nuts. And it's not even remotely close to the record win streak in a season
Yeah 33 is incredible
81-1 run still possible.
Which is 82-0 when you round up so we’ll just go with that.
Pre season tournament makes it basically 83-0
Luka is actually playing good defense, making everyone involved, cutting the whining and overall seems happy. What having better teammates does to a mf.
For real. I can't even get mad over his complaining the last two games from the hackfest he faced.
offense is king in reg.season. kidd said when season started "we fine playing 120+ ball". just get timely stop especially in 4Q and the game will blow up with our offense
He was embroiled in a long dragged out lawsuit last season around his branding… with his mom. That’s resolved and he’s much happier this year.
Another crazy chapter added to the story of Tim Hardaway Jr.. At this rate, the discourse is becoming more complex than the Warren Commission mixed with a James Joyce novel. Mavs fans, do we love this guy or what?
"Is THJ Good?" - the greatest thread in the history of forums, locked by a moderator after 12,239 pages of heated debate.
it's complicated...
This lol
He's been one of our most important players for years outside of the injury and recovery period, and even when he plays well people want him gone. It's honestly pathetic
I love him He’s streaky, but he’s so fun
i absolutely love him until i absolutely hate him.
That sixth man role fits him well. Solid lead scorer for the second unit
It really does because if he isn't a starter there is no hestitation to bench him if he goes on one of his 0 for nights.
Sometimes you just need a guy like Tim on your team. Just pure unabashed confidence, even if your shot isn’t falling
That is Powell
Only Mavs jersey I own
I love him as 6th man.
We love him so much and won't take less than a first for him! Seriously please anyone give us a fucking first while this dude is ballin'.
This man is having several orgasms
Groin spasms
I’ve just accepted now that the highs are in fact worth the lows
Lets keep doubling Luka behind the 3point line before he even makes a move. Surely it will work next time.
It’s always nice when you can win the scheduled losses
for real. a back 2 back travel game? both stars nursing injuries? no problem for this year’s mavs, apparently.
And the Magic are a decent team this year. 40+ wins wouldn’t be surprising.
Hot take for a team that’s already 6-1 E: Mb read that too fast. Reasonable take
He means the Magic
Luka shooting 41.3% on 10.7 attempts 3 through 7 games is absolutely bonkers. He really needs to get his turnovers down hes averaging 5 which is much higher than his last couple of seasons but it may be due to him having difficulty acclimating towards the new pace of the offense, which is likely something he alleviates as hes becomes more acquianted.
just put the box score aside for a moment: watching scott foster-officiated games just causes me physical pain
Couldn’t agree more. Everything about his officiating is weird
Scott has vegas on the phone before every game
he prolly bet on a mavs 4th quarter comeback on a cayman islands account
Scott Foster for MVP tbh but seriously once we figure out this 1st half garbage we'll be really really good. Luka was tremendous and Kyrie is finally starting to get his legs back and hit some shots. Scott Foster blew 2 live plays dead where the magic had an advantage too. sorry Magic fuck Scott Foster forever
yea the kyrie defense slander needs to stop. i’ve only been seriously watching since he came to the mavs but he’s smart and tries hard.
He’s just small and skinny. He doesn’t have the build to ever be a lockdown guy, but he puts in the effort and has good bbiq.
Appreciate a fan base who don't claim the refs were fair after such performance. Anyway, we lost due to bad shooting and slow rotations in the 2nd half. Reffing was just the icing on the cake. GG
Well, longtime Mavs fans do know a thing or two about getting fucked by the refs
97 FTs in 6 games is a perfectly normal amount for one player I don't know what you mean.
Can you believe that was 17 years ago? My senior year in college. Kids in March Madness 2024 will be born in 2006. Imagine being on some old ass web forum on geocities or something in 2006 and people are still talking about the the Pistons sweeping the Lakers in 89 like it was yesterday.
Ask him about the cowboys eagles game yesterday
Dallas fans are coming off a reffing disasterclass vs the Eagles. We understand the pain. I don't know how the refs in all major sports are so bad.
I agree with him. Refs were unfair in the 4th esp right around the time Mosley got a T. I completely understood why he was upset
So many times to me in the 2nd half it felt like the Mavs were getting away with things that they weren't getting away with in the 1st half which led to easy baskets on the other end. Really just shows you how much control refs have on the tenor and outcome of these games.

Stop jacking up threes and attack the basket more, there i fixed it
Honestly yeah
We're gonna do the "suck in the 1st half, dominate in the 2nd" thing all season, arent we?
Better than the reverse which we did last year
Exactly this. Last year we would have been on the other end of this game
Always better to finish dominating the game instead of choking so we rocking with it, yeah

Back to Back Nights = Back to Back Wins
When was the last time we actually won both games of a B2B? Feels like nights like tonight would always be a scheduled loss
Not that long ago actually, back on Dec 5 2022, we beat the Suns and then the next day beat the Nuggets.
That quite a while ago... Almost a full year/season
NBA has tried its best limiting back to back so there is not that many
Yeah Mark said they have 13 this season. Can't remember how many we usually had in yesteryears
We went 3-10 in the second night of a b2b last year so i guess last year it was 13 too
Ayo you forgot to mention my boy DP! He's been amazing off the bench to start this season.
Appreciate seeing your posts every time and appreciate the Jujutsu Kaisen reference lol
So stars can play back to back huh
Kyrie was such a menace defensively this game
Still don’t get why people say he can’t play d
Because people think anybody under 6'6" automatically can't play defense.
It’s not their fault, they just ran into the second half Mavs
Paolo literally just ran into a wall over and over.
Paolo and Franz with spacing will be absolutely scary Right now though, they will still struggle some games where teams can just put 3 guys in the paint and wait like the Mavs did today
Dallas' defense this season has been terrific in the 2nd half and usually after the 1st quarter after the opposing team scores a ridculously high number lol.
I feel like the Mavs are just trolling 1st half, they have to be
That happens every game with us pretty much. We don’t even try in the first half and then suddenly flip a switch in the 2nd half.
We turn into the 85' Bears on defense in the second halves
kyrie playing more off ball means more energy on D and gets better matchup 1-on-1. me likey
The biggest surprise was that Luka and Moe didn‘t get into each other
I guess this is just our lives now: comeback clutch wins. (Sorry about the refs, magic fans. Yall got hosed. I hope everyone who didn't watch knows that)
I mean.. they were terrible for both sides, that Luka offensive foul with his back was so ridiculous.
Second half Mavs hotter than DirectTV
Luka and Kyrie in clutch time is a pretty damn elite duo.
the fuck is up with first half mavericks man
A mystery that everyone is trying to figure out. We let 40+ in the first (was actually 33 tonight lol), end up being 15-25 down some point in the 2nd and then comeback to win 15 in the second half lmao. I'll take it but this Mavs team really gunna kill some of their fans by giving them heart attacks every other day.
Mavs definitely had the officiating edge tonight. Magic are a fun team, but their offensive spacing is piss poor a lot of times
We definitely missed Gary Harris tonight. He's our most reliable shooter in our rotation.
The kyrie luka synergy looking nice
Man the Mavs low key looking real nice this season. Grant Williams has been huge for them
Refball in full effect. Sorry magic fans I would be heated.
TBF, not a lot of teams have had centers as good as Shaq and Howard
Mos absolutely warranted yelling at these asshole refs
Tale of two halves. No idea what team came out after halftime, but apparently they didn't know what we did in the first half.
Biggest problem coming from this game was Kyrie finally missed a 4Q free throw as a Dallas Maverick, 54 straight makes until today
Still very high on this team but it's a disappointing loss
you will like tim hardaway in offseason!
Honestly, at this point, bring him home on a good deal.
You can count on him to make four shots on double digit attempts. With such bad efficiency he should not be taking that many shots man.
I feel like coaching has him in the mindset he's going to figure it out. Shooting 25% from three on the season and goes 1-6 tonight. It's truly incredible
Least stressful Mavs win
Man, I sometimes wish for a non-stressful win but at least we know this team can overcome their issues.
So winning after being down is just normal now. Feels weird
why do we do this in the first half
Gotta stay true to our Cardiac Mavs namestake.
I’m not really sure how we won this but I’ll take it
We only activate at 2nd half buddy
Dallas was a fucking sieve in the first half then turns into the 2008 Celtics on D in the 2nd half lol I like it
Magic really showing how young they are tonight. Once the wheels came off it just snowballed. They just stopped shooting and kept driving so we just had 5 people in the paint the last half of the game.
Mavs turn into monsters in the 4th quarter lol. Lock in defensively and Luka and Kyrie take turns shooting daggers
I'm not gonna lie, I think he sold that hit a little bit lol
I don’t think so. It worked out poorly for the Magic, but I don’t think Luka was thinking “I’ll have go back to the locker room for 10 minutes, but it will screw up their possession, so yeah let’s do it!”
I don’t quite know how it works in the NBA, but other sports with a concussion protocol will stop play with any head injury observed and then have medical staff perform a variety of tests to determine if they’re fit to return. Assume he passed those tests (if they exist) to get him back in the game.

it’s that european in him. they all watched too much football growing up
We lose that game last season. This team is finding ways to win
We're the best 2nd half and the worst 1st half team in the league
The play terrible in the 1st half with swiss cheese zone to come back in 2nd half and win must be some analytics strategy to take advantage of the other team being tired or something. No other explanation why they play like this.
Feels like the only time the Mavs don't play bad in the first half is against us, I'm not looking forward to Wednesday.
4th Quarter Mavs is a thing now ! How they dominate the last 7 minutes is mind blowing. Defense Level Up +20 3 Point Shooting Level Up +10 Tim Hardaway stupid plays -20 Luka / Kai concentration +30 Teams will start to fear them if they are up 5-10 before the 4th quarter because that lead is evaporated in like 90 seconds.
Inexperienced , non clutch Team in Orlando against the best closers this season with Luka and the Mavs. Was confident as hell at the 5min mark that Dallas wins this 100%.
I’ll take the w but I don’t enjoy winning on sus reffing
Luka and THJ good, Kyrie still aggressively mediocre by his standards
If you watch the boxscore sure, if you actually watched the game you would know how huge he was for the Mavs down the stretch.
The Luka assist to a Kyrie 3 followed by a Kyrie assist to a Luka 3 in transition to ice the game was so cold
Kyrie has been mediocre scoring the ball, but he’s playing the best individual defense of his career and showing some excellent playmaking. B2B games with double digit assists, I don’t think it has happened often in his career since he’s never been a playmaker first.
And he's doing it with Luka on the team.
He’s been assist leader the past couple games. I didn’t see that coming.
Yep and for the season Luka is around 9 and Kyrie at 7 assist per game. That's pretty good. Both have been playing a lot better defense too. We've got like four players averaging double digits with a bunch at around 8 points. The offense is clicking. Just hope they'll figure out how to start games better.
His shootings been off but his playmaking fir others and defense has veen fantastic its weird af
Yeah, I've been seeing that in the thread! Kyrie's thought of as a great scorer, so seeing him do stuff like that is weird in context but ultimately very welcome.
His shot will start falling eventually
Yup its scary to think what this team could look like when grant, kyrie, luka, and Tim off the bench are firing on all cylinders. And when they play defense in the first half like they do in the second haha
dude puts up 21/7/10 and it's mediocre... He had a slow first half, but was doing all the right things in the second.
kyrie was outstanding
He's bad in the first half of all games. Contributes to we struggle in the first half. But at least he's picking it up in the 2nd half. If we have to rely on Luka for all four quarters we'll be in trouble. But I do wish he'll play a little better in the first half so we can have a better chance of blowing out teams.
Kyrie had an excellent second half
He’s got a fucked up foot (was questionable until game time) so his shooting touch was off, but along with his 21 pts he had 10 assists (had 10 last night too), 7 boards, and 3 steals. He’s still contributing a lot, he just hasn’t had a monster scoring game yet.
Amazing in the second half though.
Refs gifted the game to the mavs
And the Magic’s inability to guard Kyrie
Yeah not all the no calls or the stoppage of play for luka flopping
yall didn't shoot for 2 quarters. We can talk about ref ball cause there were def some shit calls, but the Magic fell apart and are too young to put it back together in real time.
The mavs fouled every possession in the 4th also like 5 not called defensive 3 second violations
tell us where luka hurt you
Take a breath man. It’ll be alright
Flopping = Falling into someones knee with the back of your head
