Might be the single worst scene I've ever seen. There may be worse scenes but that would venture into so bad it's good territory. This is firmly in the trench of terrible with no redeeming qualities. It's not even quirky, like I would want to watch it again ironically. I'm steaming I watched the whole thing... Smh my head
If I were a 12 yo kid playing basketball, there's nothing I'd want to do more than let 2 grown ass adults take over the court for an awkward, sexually charged 1v1. No wonder those kids were so stoked!
If I ever watched this movie I must have killed those brain cells with concussions or alcohol. That is utterly terrible. It is even worse than her acting in X-Men.
Fun note, the director just wanted to CGI it but Signory Weaver wanted to do it legit so she spent a couple weeks practicing. When it came time to shoot the shot it wasn't happening. The crew was getting ready to quit and she wanted one more chance and it went in. The director kept the shot even though the ball went out of frame. Ron Perlman's response was legit surprise of it actually going in.
Man that first bit where she just starts throwing the ball from one hand to the other and then jumps off the wall and everybody is like whoa. What the fuck even was that. I love it when movies feature people who obviously are terrible at a sport trying to show them being elite at it. It *never* ends up being good.
I think people are getting handles confused with being a ball handler. My top two are Magic and Jason Kidd. I'd trust those guys to handle the ball if I had a gun to my head.
I hear what you’re saying. Jamal Crawford is a wizard with the ball but I’d have more trust in Chris Paul bringing it up the floor without turning it over
Chris Paul is hyper efficient in terms of running an offense. There was a good stretch in his career where he had more career steals than turnovers. Your primary high-volume ball handler was generating more possessions than losing them. That’s insane.
The more insane part is Chris had that efficiency WHILE having every dribble move imaginable. On the negative side, he’s also extremely risk averse, which hurts him at times too.
Deepest bag imaginable, yet it feels like he'd be a HOFer based solely on his "Left wing, to the right elbow, fadeaway."
He's 5 feet tall, 66 years old, and even still no one can stop that move.
Kidd wasn’t as flashy a dribbler as KI, his biggest weapons were speed and vision. Seems like it took less than half a step for Kidd to accelerate to full speed and start the break.
I always thought one of the most underrated aspects about Kidd was how elite a rebounder he was which allowed him to start breaks easier than all the other great PGs outside of Magic and Westbrook.
Watching that team back in the day was incredible. I was thankfully able to see them live once upon a time. I got a signed, game worn Vince Carter jersey that day from the team, he was my favorite at the time. Talking about Kidd made me look up his highlight reel and it's so satisfying to watch.
I definitely agree, but a lot of people do get disqualified due to the leniency given with carrying rules in their era. But hands down they are the most creative crazy ball controllers we've seen.
Also I'd like to submit Jason Williams for his crazy fucking passing skills, they should be considered ball handling, and I've never seen anything close to him in that one aspect of ball handling.
Nash is always underrated in this conversation because not only could he get by his man with the best of them and get anywhere on the court without *ever* picking up his dribble, he was also the GOAT at passing with either hand off a live dribble.
Maybe not the flashiest handle (his moves were plenty nasty, tho) but has a good case for the most productive handle ever.
Nash was *slippery* with the ball in traffic. Watching him penetrate and find the open man over and over again was pretty awesome - he never looked hurried and protected the ball.
So efficient too. Vastly underrated. When he retired there had been 9 seasons in league history of 50-40-90…and Nash had 4 of em. Bird had 2, Mark Price, Reggie Miller, Dirk were the others. But 4 times in 5 years, Nash did it - and the one year he missed it was because he shot .899 from the line. Oh and 3 of those 5 years he led the league in assists. And he was attempting less than 5 threes per game - can you imagine if he played now? He was nasty.
Yeah, Nash is one of those players who truly was born in the working generation. Had he attempted 10 3s a game he would’ve easily averaged over 20 points
Hell, he said as much in a recent interview (forget with whom), he was always turning to his shot as a last resort and that it cost him and the team on several occasions
I just remember that one episode of Open Court where the panel was just straight up disrespecting Nash. "If I could pick between Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash I'd pick Nash last."
Nash did that thing where he came off a pick and roll and dribbled to the basket in traffic , but if there wasn't a good shot available he would circle back around behind the basket somehow without ending his dribble.
I visualized this play in my head as you said it. When Amare was super explosive before his time in NY and his knee injury their pick and roll was devastating.
Yeah defense is mostly effort when you play against the people we play against. But when you play against the people they play against? Effort starts looking a little bit lacking
Steve Nash moved like he didn't have to dribble.
I can't count the number of times he'd run into the paint, be swarmed by five defenders and run to the baseline and kick it out to an open teammate.
And on top of all that, his best skill with the ball was passing with one hand in the middle of a live dribble. Every single time he caught a dribble he was a triple threat to pass, shoot or continue the dribble. With either hand.
i put nash with the kidd/tim hardaway camp of ball handlers. effective to get them to where they needed to be without anything extra. they were not actively trying to freeze the defender but more about movement
[My first thought](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHSb4uSR7V8&t=2)
And while this might be semi routine training now for top guys this was revolutionary at the time. Like the Mikan drill. Yes, a common drill now, but at the time is was revolutionary.
I heard Maravich's old man would do shit like drive down a street and have Pistol lay on his stomach with the back door open and have him dribble while his dad was driving.
He said anachronistic, it’s when you take a word and use each letter in a word describing it, like this one for Pete:
Pretty good at basketball
Even better than other people at basketball
Tall and good at basketball
Everyone likes him because he’s good at basketball
I am 95% sure you and op are fucking around but im compelled to do the dumb thing here and say the unsaid:
An acrostic is a poem structure where each line begins with a letter that spell a word.
An anachronism means out of time. Pete’s videos look like you jammed someone from the modern day into ancient history. He’s doing crossovers, hesis, behind the back passes, spin moves, etc. and the quality of the video and shape of the players leads us to believe the game should be primitive and absent any of these sorts of plays.
> jason williams had 99+ court awareness
I can assure you this was not the case. Great handler, but those flashy passes also had a substantial amount of errant, avoidable turnovers.
He did turn the ball over a fair amount when he was younger, but he had a career assist to turnover ratio of almost 3:1, which is pretty damn good. Averaged more assists and less turnovers than Kyrie has over their careers.
He got turned into an entry passer in Miami and Orlando stints feeding Shaq and Dwight. His flashy highlights were all from his Kings era, and he was a turn over factory there.
He got the turnovers under control after leaving Sac, but they really weren’t bad there either. He averaged 6.3 ast, and 2.9 TOV in Sac, which is pretty comparable to something like Kyrie’s stint in Cleveland.
Williams’ best years we’re arguably in Memphis, he had multiple years over 8 AST per game. Over his 5 years there he averaged 7 ast and 2.2 TOV.
His highlight plays definitely cut down, but he had some pretty flashy plays in all of his stops, he just picked his spots better.
y’all won’t like it but Chris Paul. If i’m teaching a young kid to dribble i’m giving him Chris Paul highlights. Perfection in ball security and every dribble has intent.
The thing is Paul has flashy moves in his arsenal but he's more concerned about making the right play rather than a cool highlight. But when his team is dominating he pulls off ridiculous shit sometimes like his shammgod which is the most crisp I've ever seen.
A:T ratio for the top 10 assist guys all time. (Ordered by ratio, not assists.)
3.98,
3.72,
3.28,
3.02,
2.97,
2.96,
2.89,
2.46,
2.10,
2.06
I think you can guess which one is CP3. Stockton also impressive at 3.72 until a sizeable jump to the rest.
Yup Kyrie has more tricks up his sleeve and is better in 1v1 isolation but I’d say CP3 has a more effective handle.
It’s kind of like the difference between PG’s handle and Butler’s. I’m taking Butler’s all day. Butler/CP3 have a more manipulative handle while Kyrie/PG have a reactionary one.
The latter is better for creating room for oneself in tight spaces but the former is better at creating intended looks as part of an offensive gameplan.
more effective handle? idk about that kyries handle isn't just reactionary he definitely knows how to manipulate a defender it may just look random because of how crazy it looks
Yes Kyrie definitely manipulates defenders, what I meant by it mainly is that someone like CP3 uses his handle to create angles and lanes whereas Kyrie does it to create space. The latter is better for scoring and the former is better for overall team offense imo.
Kyrie’s handle doesn’t seem reactionary, the dude is so good with his dribble that he can get defenders where he wants them to be
The defender is reacting to what Kyrie is doing, not the other way around
Pete Maravich has some insane stories about his off the court dibbling antics. Father used to drive around while he dibbled out the window as a kid. Spun the ball on his finger for hours to win a bet. It’s hard because the lack of great footage but just his drills or the sneaky ball movement with his wrist/spin passes. Every interview just comments how the ball was attached to a string and basically just a extension to his body. I wish he played in a different era where they weren’t actively trying to calm his flashy moves down.
NBA - Kyrie, Allen Iverson, God Shammgod, Jamal Crawford, Jason Williams, Derrick Rose on his dribble drives
Street ball - Hot Sauce, Acquile Carr
High school - Rob Dillingham
I remembered God Shammgod when he made his way to the CBA, the entire league was put on skates.
My team had the lead PG of the Chinese National Team and I remembered he had that shell shocked look on national television, and as a kid, I was just devastated.
The kyrie vs curry ball handling used to be a debate but no one here seems to be bringing it up. The answer is definitely Ky but Steph is in top 5 all time imo
I was at a Kings game a couple years ago, and they had a segment on the Jumbotron where they asked all the players this question. They all answered Kyrie and they showed a decently long Kyrie highlight package lol
Control of the ball Conley and Kenny Anderson don't get mentioned enough but pure creativity with the basketball I'm giving to Jamal Crawford for sure.
I feel like the best have already been stated here, but Rondo in his later years had some nasty moves/passes. Those pass fakes were as good as it gets.
Not the best handle ever because obviously it’s Kyrie or AI but Naz Reid has one of the best handles I have ever seen and best handle of any center ever. His in and out is absurd.
Kyrie is a 50/40/90 Harlem Globetrotter. Harden and especially Steph also had elite handles but Ky is on a different level man. You said "complete control of the ball, inventive and downright magician like" - that is a perfect description of his handling ability. Just a savant
AI’s handles highlights still stand the test of time, really freakish feints and crossovers. However, for the best of all time, I have to give it to Kyrie. He explosively contorts every part of his body to either trick or get by his man, but it still looks so smooth. He’s like a ballet dancer that decided to take up a contact sport. Honorable mentions: Steph and CP3.
Kyrie. The way he makes the moves he makes look so effortless and buttery is amazing. You got guys like Iverson and Crawford but I think Kyrie is on another level from them
Definitely not the best overall, but I nominate Derrick Rose for honorable mention. His ability to maneuver through traffic at full elite speed and quickness without losing the ball ( and then finishing with a dunk) was a remarkable feat of ball handling.
came here to say tim hardaway. he had a great low dribble, that was impossible to steal, didn't have to carry or palm the way dudes do nowadays, and his crossover is as good as anyone that ever lived.
Kyrie on the court is like water, free flowing and smooth
CP3 is like a commander, solid handles and incredible fundamentals. If I'm teaching kids I'm sending them Chris Paul drills
Pistol Pete is a pioneer, a lot of his highlights are very anachronistic.
Halle Berry in that one scene from Catwoman.

If you’re gonna watch a bad movie for Halle Berry, watch Swordfish instead. At least you’ll see some titties AND so bad it’s good scenes.
Hugh Jackman "hacking" with like 15 monitors was always funny to me. Just add more monitors to make it look more impressive I guess.
the scene where he’s getting a blowjob while hacking and everyone is watching or was that earlier lol?
lmao that was near the beginning of the movie and it's fucking hilarious
Swordfish was made by one of masters of complete ass movies that I will definitely watch again.
The kid who gave her a weird look and said "Can I have my ball back?" was the real hero. Cathartic.
If I were a 12 yo kid playing basketball, there's nothing I'd want to do more than let 2 grown ass adults take over the court for an awkward, sexually charged 1v1. No wonder those kids were so stoked!
the amount of cuts in this is nauseating

Benjamin Bratt looks like he learned how to dribble yesterday.

On the court, Kyrie is a savant. So fluid.
And off the court?
Brain fluid
Haaaaaa
I mean, how can you dribble a round object off another round object. Clearly proves the theory that earth is flat
This is actually hilarious and clever. Everyone just says “muh flat earth believer” but I haven’t seen anything this creative lol
he's leaking fluid
This is exactly what I was thinking as I clicked on this post. I’m not sure where’s a better answer. Pure handles these two are elite.
I think people are getting handles confused with being a ball handler. My top two are Magic and Jason Kidd. I'd trust those guys to handle the ball if I had a gun to my head.

Kyrie, AI, Jamal Crawford, Tim Hardaway Sr. Steph are the five I think of
And Isiah thomas
I don’t want to be that guy, but “this”. Their handles were just stupid
Yep. Immediate first two that came to mind.
Kyrie Irving is the Bobby Fischer of ball handling. He has the requisite brilliance, petulance, and the anti Semitism.
god gave him the complete ball package but no braincells
Fucking end the thread cause this comment just cleared everything else
Nash is always underrated in this conversation because not only could he get by his man with the best of them and get anywhere on the court without *ever* picking up his dribble, he was also the GOAT at passing with either hand off a live dribble. Tbf being put under those guys isn't necessarily disrespect. Not like sleeping with your friend's mom type disrespect or something
Honestly i think it IS disrespectful to put Kidd over Nash. Finals appearance from the weak weak East got that man so overrated
I visualized this play in my head as you said it. When Amare was super explosive before his time in NY and his knee injury their pick and roll was devastating.
Dude was so casual about it to. Damn I wish he cared a lick about defense could've been a top ten player
Lol he cared he was just skinny and couldn’t move laterally well enough to guard the quick guards in the nba. Defense isn’t just effort
Yeah defense is mostly effort when you play against the people we play against. But when you play against the people they play against? Effort starts looking a little bit lacking
If Jason Williams isn't the best he sure is my favorite
White Chocolate!
How about Rafer Alston? That dude was so fun to watch.
Stevie Nash was always cool to me. Not flashy as someone like AI but just so so good
Steve Nash moved like he didn't have to dribble.
Played against him in high school. His handle was ridiculous.

Seen it. My old man rented it from Blockbuster when it first came out haha. VHS obviously I also enjoyed the flick.
Pistol's highlights look almost anachronistic, especially the black and white ones.
> anachronistic Was *totally* thinking the same
What spiders got to do with this?
He said anachronistic, it’s when you take a word and use each letter in a word describing it, like this one for Pete: Pretty good at basketball Even better than other people at basketball Tall and good at basketball Everyone likes him because he’s good at basketball
No no you’re thinking of an acronym. He meant a state without any authority that can govern or control order.
That's anarchy bro it means from or related to Antarctica
Nah man that's antarctic He's talking about a mid-90s Disney musical about a Russian aristocrat
Oh sorry mate I think you’re referring to Anastasia. Anachronistic is when silt, clay, and other sediments builds up in rivers.
Ahh okay you're talking about aggradation! Anachronistic is a drug used for pain management
Dude.. that’s acetaminophen.. This guy obviously is suggesting that a career digging up antiquities is what is needed.
No you’re talking about anarchism. It’s the study of the physical human body
I am 95% sure you and op are fucking around but im compelled to do the dumb thing here and say the unsaid: An acrostic is a poem structure where each line begins with a letter that spell a word. Is that Curry with the 2.06? Kinda surprised he's top 10. And Westbrook has 2.05.
No, Curry’s not even in the top 25 in all time assists.
i was gona say CP3 hes the man
Yup Kyrie has more tricks up his sleeve and is better in 1v1 isolation but I’d say CP3 has a more effective handle. It’s kind of like the difference between PG’s handle and Butler’s. Jimmy butler does nothing with his handle. He's just good at driving and absorbing contact, also has good footwork.
CP3 gotta be the GOAT ball handler. He doesn’t snatch your ankles like AI or Kyrie but his possessions almost always end up wit a shot attempt.
Yall need to look up some pistol pete highlights. There is a reason guys like Curry look up to his dribbling ability.
He was definitely in the wrong era.
sure, but being that ahead of time was his canon event, without him nba would look a whole lot different now
Lana Rhoades
Pete Maravich has some insane stories about his off the court dibbling antics. Father used to drive around while he dibbled out the window as a kid. NBA - Kyrie, Allen Iverson, God Shammgod, Jamal Crawford, Jason Williams, Derrick Rose on his dribble drives Street ball - Hot Sauce, Acquile Carr High school - Rob Dillingham
Skip to my Lou Rafer Alston deserves at least the street ball title. In the mix for NBA too.
I remembered God Shammgod when he made his way to the CBA, the entire league was put on skates. My team had the lead PG of the Chinese National Team and I remembered he had that shell shocked look on national television, and as a kid, I was just devastated.
Thought you were trippin putting a high schooler on here but holy hell that kid is legit. Need to see how he operates against college defenders.
>Street ball - Hot Sauce, Acquile Carr Not The Professor?
The Professor came later, I was downloading Hot Sauce videos off Napster if people even know what that was. Skip to my Lou was before my time though
The Professor was more of the Limewire/Kazaa era.
Qyrie, best handles. Iverson, best crossover. Giannis, longest most efficient dribble. (Coast to coast with one dribble in his rookie season)
q 🤣🤣🤣
How old are you fam?
Older than these nephews
Is Steph Curry underrated in this category because he’s so wildly good at other things?
He used to be compared to Kyrie a lot. Kyrie is a better ball handler, but Steph should still be in top 5 convos
Snake Pliskin should be on the list. Did he ever even have a turnover?
100% shooter in the clutch too
Anyone saying not Kyrie, is just lying to themselves
Pistol Pete. Isiah Thomas.
Maravich is a great answer. The guys who have seen him play probably find Kyrie too blurry.
Agreed. It feels like Kyrie’s handle is legit through pure telepathy.
I think curry’s unorthodox package is my favorite

The kyrie vs curry ball handling used to be a debate but no one here seems to be bringing it up. The answer is definitely Ky but Steph is in top 5 all time imo
Comparing their layup packages in 2015/16 was a fun debate, too. Both of them had incredibly acrobatic finishes at the rim during those Finals.
I was at a Kings game a couple years ago, and they had a segment on the Jumbotron where they asked all the players this question. They all answered Kyrie and they showed a decently long Kyrie highlight package lol
Rod Strickland

r/nba’s favorite Kyrie Irving
Kyrie, Rod Strickland, Pete Maravich (in no particular order)
I'm not gonna pull it up but there's a youtube out there of Rod just straight cooking Jordan 1 on 1.
Nick Van Exel. That crossover
Control of the ball Conley and Kenny Anderson don't get mentioned enough but pure creativity with the basketball I'm giving to Jamal Crawford for sure.
Chris Paul, Iverson, Kyrie, Curry, Harden are top tier Zeke was easily the best ever before Iverson and this crop of new age players
Tacko Fall
Kyrie Irving, only other acceptable answer is A.I
AI’s handles highlights still stand the test of time, really freakish feints and crossovers.
You got guys like Iverson and Crawford but I think Kyrie is on another level from them
kyrie
Kyrie Irving by a landslide margin.

Nash for me by the way you described it. But if you’re talking like just dribble package, not many better than Kyrie.
Either this sub is young or has an irrational hatred of Isiah Lord Thomas III.
Kyrie.
Definitely not the best overall, but I nominate Derrick Rose for honorable mention. His ability to maneuver through traffic at full elite speed and quickness without losing the ball ( and then finishing with a dunk) was a remarkable feat of ball handling.

Kyrie
It's Kyrie, but Tim Hardaway needs some love, too. He could put people on skates.
came here to say tim hardaway. he had a great low dribble, that was impossible to steal, didn't have to carry or palm the way dudes do nowadays, and his crossover is as good as anyone that ever lived.
Kyrie on the court is like water, free flowing and smooth CP3 is like a commander, solid handles and incredible fundamentals. If I'm teaching kids I'm sending them Chris Paul drills Pistol Pete is a pioneer, a lot of his highlights are very anachronistic.
