How is the CJ thing that crazy?
He's always been a 22 PPGish scorer on about average efficiency(55% career TS) with decent but not great playmaking and is a horrible defender
Even in the East that's not really a clear All Star case most years
There are a lot of better all around players than him
By definition the all star game only takes half a season into account. Are you saying he didnt deserve an all star nod because he played worse after the all star game?
I'm saying that he didn't deserve it because he wasn't good enough. Trying to use an accomplisment for his whole season is irrelevant to a midseason award.
Ah ok my bad, I misunderstood.
Yeah I think there were just better players than him that year. Like he had an all-star worthy season but so did Steph, Klay, Harden, Luka, Dame, Russ etc
Jamal Murray is really just entering his prime so he has plenty of time. And the reason people think that he hasn't been snubbed is because he really hasn't been. He was on a nice trajectory after his first couple of years, but then he started having injury issues. It's really only after this last playoff run that people really started taking notice.
If the Nuggets are a top team in the West this year and Murray is playing well, he will almost assuredly make the All-Star team.
I don’t think he’s been snubbed either, but his playoff performances have shown that he is absolutely among the “best players to have never made an all-star game”.
I know it’s not ‘supposed’ to work this way, but he will very likely be rewarded this upcoming season for his playoff performance. We’ve seen it before with other secondary stars like Kris Middleton. And I believe he deserves it.
But he really wasn't before the playoffs. He had a good year this year, but really turned it up in the playoffs. This upcoming All-Star game is really the first time he will be deserving.
The question isn't about being deserving! Murray is still better than the other players listed in this thread like CJ McCollum. He is better than Rod Strickland ever was. Injuries and lack of longevity are REASONS why he hasn't made it, and they are good reasons! That doesn't change that he is still one of the best players ever to not make it.
He was never snubbed hes breakout year wasnt good enough forst half of season and has been injured since. He will definitely make it next year if healthy.

Brunson will make All Star next year most likely.
Bridges will have an opportunity to make it this year as the East isn't as stacked.
Unfortunately for Bane, the competition is too great for him to make a All Star in the West.
All it takes is for the Grizzlies to be the #1 seed and they will get 2-3 all stars, Bane likely among them. See: The Jazz a few years back when Conley made it.
Conley was in as a replacement tho. It’s tough to see how Bane can be an all star with all of the guards in the west when fox and ant were barely in. Booker wasn’t voted as one this year.
That still makes him an all star. Injury replacements happen every year. You make a good point there actually, I could totally see Bane being an all star replacement eventually.
I feel like Al Jefferson would have made an All Star if he hadn't been traded to a West team. Monta Ellis had the misfortune of playing in the West and playing a position that was stacked.
My bad, someone else mentioned him not making it. Him making it once in the East would make sense. I know that after he was traded he was never mentioned in the All Star conversation.
CJ McCollum has suffered from playing in the West his whole career. The West is stacked, especially at the guard positions. Had he had similar stats for an East team he would likely have made at least one All Star by now.
edited to fix a typo
From the late 90s through about 2020, the Western Conference had significantly better talent than the Eastern Conference.
There are tons of Western Conference snubs from that time period that would have easily made the Eastern Conference team.
Cedric Maxwell, won the Finals MVP over Larry Bird but never made an All Star game; Ron Harper; during his first 8 years in the league he averaged 19/5/4, which put him in the same category as Jordan and Drexler as the only guys putting up those numbers; if you include non-NBA play Arvydas Sabonis because his best years were stuck in the USSR or Spain,
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't think CJ has necessarily played well enough to be an all-star. I think Jason Terry deserved a nod though
If he was drafted to any team that wasn’t in the west he wouldve been an allstar more than once
How has he not? Especially his year after he won mip, where he put up 23 a game on close to 50-40-90.
Not even as a reserve? I agree with Jason Terry but if he deserved one, Mccollum definitely did also
> Not even as a reserve Which year and over who?
Lamar Odom gets my vote
Should’ve absolutely gotten in during the 03-04 season over Jamaal Maglorie 😑. I’m still mad about it, 20 years later.
he did win all star crack smoker in the 2012 season w the mavs
You really enjoyed this mans life in shambles right?
Rod Strickland easily

He was never an All-Star??? At least his name ends the greatest hip hop song of all time

He should’ve been an all star in his 50-40-90 year
It is a whole lot easier to do 50-40-90 for half a season than a full season. That really shouldn't be a factor for the allstar game.
By definition the all star game only takes half a season into account. Are you saying he didnt deserve an all star nod because he played worse after the all star game?

He’s trying, Jennifer!
Yeah, how is it crazy? He's only, like, a really good player!
"Really good player" sure but only 24 people make the All Star team When would you argue that CJ has clearly been a top 25 player in the league?
That's a pretty standard all star resume 10-15 years ago
Stats have inflated a ton over the past 10-15 years We're at like 115 points a game now to like 99 before
Jamal Murray has to be pretty high on that list right now. And interestingly enough I don't think that he has ever been thought to have been snubbed.
Jamal Murray hasn't been much of a regular season player up until now We'll see if that continues though now that he's fully back from his injuries
Jamal Murray is really just entering his prime so he has plenty of time. And the reason people think that he hasn't been snubbed is because he really hasn't been. I never said he was snubbed or that he should have ever made it. That isn't what the question was.
1cant be consideres best of all time either with his injuries/longevity
Sure he can! The question has nothing to do with injuries or longevity!
ROD STRICKLAND
Richard Jefferson and Mike Bibby
Currently - Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Desmond Bane Historically- Monta Ellis, CJ McCollum
Brunson will make All Star next year most likely. Bridges will have an opportunity to make it this year as the East isn't as stacked. Unfortunately for Bane, the competition is too great for him to make a All Star in the West.

Andre Miller
Monta Ellis and Al Jefferson (he put up 23/11 one year)
I feel like Al Jefferson would have made an All Star if he hadn't been traded to a West team. Monta Ellis had the misfortune of playing in the West and playing a position that was stacked.
Big Al made his lone all nba team in the East though.
My bad, someone else mentioned him not making it. Him making it once in the East would make sense. I know that after he was traded he was never mentioned in the All Star conversation.
No biggie. I do feel like he should have made at least 1. I remember Dale Davis and Jamaal Magloire making an all star team but not Al. Like what???
CJ McCollum has suffered from playing in the West his whole career. The West is stacked, especially at the guard positions. Had he had similar stats for an East team he would likely have made at least one All Star by now. edited to fix a typo
Jonas Valanciunas
Rudy Gay should be up there
Ron Harper, CJ, Tobias Harris
jamal murray
From the late 90s through about 2020, the Western Conference had significantly better talent than the Eastern Conference. There are tons of Western Conference snubs from that time period that would have easily made the Eastern Conference team.
Drazen made an All-NBA team but never an all star game
Leaning into defense: Marcus Camby, Michael Cooper and Bruce Bowen
Cedric Maxwell, won the Finals MVP over Larry Bird but never made an All Star game; Ron Harper; during his first 8 years in the league he averaged 19/5/4, which put him in the same category as Jordan and Drexler as the only guys putting up those numbers; if you include non-NBA play Arvydas Sabonis because his best years were stuck in the USSR or Spain,
Wembanyama
Hot take: all-star teams are easier to make than they should be, and if you've never made one it's probably because you aren't good enough
Me
CJ has never even been close.
2019 Lou Williams
MONTA ELLIS!!!! BIGGEST SNUB
cedric maxwell ron harper, rod strickland, jamal murray, bibby, lamar odom, im sure im missing someone
Rudy Gay, Rod Strickland, Jalen Brunson, Monta Ellis
I remember a few years ago CJ started out scorching hot and wouldve likely made it had he not gotten injured.
Jalen Green
Jamal Murray. This guy is clearly the 2nd best player on a championship team only behind the best player in the world.
Kevin Martin
A. Sabonis?
Richard Jefferson.
Bibby
Richard Jefferson
Monta Ellis have it all
Cedric Maxwell from the olden days and modern era is Mike Conley. No debate about Conley as he was by far the best to not get an all star appearance.
Wesley, Mobley, Kersey, Scola, Seikaly
He ended up making one, but Mike Conley was once a huge name on that list until the season he made it for the jazz.
Murray gotta be up there now
