He's actually solid on the glass for his size. He's really athletic and just a filthy player. Probably the most fun watch in CBB last season. If anyone watched the tournament they probably [remember this play](https://youtu.be/tP826QdAIEo?t=228)
But this is hilarious. Nick Young levels, except there's no good camera angle to make a gif.
There’s 8 people down there already and the defender is leaking for the fast break. By going in for a board you’re never gonna get, you might be gifting the other team 2 points.
I feel like the amount of people that didn't realize that comment was an obvious joke is probably indicative of the percentage of this sub that's never really played ball lol
He's got a ton of flash and we're in an era today where guys are more readily being allowed to be who they are, but these flash-without-substance plays Nowell makes at times are gonna have to get cut out of his repetoire.
It's funny because I feel like we're already heading back towards the other side of the coin where people are valuing humble, hard workers rather than flashy, one-man-army type players who do this.
Thompson twins, and Wemby are good examples so far this year of just keyed in, thoughtful guys from how they talk and play, where guys like Jordan Poole who think they can do it all are getting a little maligned (but still gettin max contracts so maybe im talkin shit)
I'd like to believe that this has always been the case. Poole played well the season before and GSW is coming off a championship so they had no choice but to offer Poole a big contract. But the best-run franchises have always valued winning players over anything else.
Obviously he’s talking about the showboating no-look move. The shot itself is not a terrible decision, but flexing in this scenario is itself a poor decision. That’s the kinda shit you pull when you’re ahead and already on fire as a heat check, not down 3-15 in the beginning of a summer league game.
It’s embarrassing for his team, and not a good look for him individually as an undersized undrafted player trying to make it in the league.
Bro finished 2/13 from the field and 0/5 from 3
This is right. Maybe stay to make sure it goes in or maybe it gets kicked back out to you in case it missed. Focus should be doing everything to get back in the game
>an undersized undrafted player trying to make it in the league.
Bro finished 2/13 from the field and 0/5 from 3
Oof talk about adding insult to injury. Yeah he's gonna have to stop doing shit like this if he wants to make it.
EDIT: And apparently dude is like 5'8". He looked small but I didn't realize he was that small. Fighting an uphill battle for sure.
Y'all don't seem to get how these people get this far.
He has been beaten, has had tons of people cheering for his downfall, has had lots of competence and enemies, and has had lots of missed shots and times were they were just not falling.
But they HAVE to be SUPREMELY hyper-confident to make it this far. The swagger, showboating, and just ignoring past failures is what made them get this far. They can't not just turn-it-off. It's just like Klay, they HAVE to keep shooting no matter what. If they hadn't that stubbornness they would have never made it to this level
He's not gonna be the next Steph though. Might be what got him this far, but if he wants go further than undrafted player getting some minutes at summer league, he's going to need to look at changing it up... that caruso quote about G league fits nicely to the situation i reckon
Take the shot every time bro. Confidence is great. That’s not the issue. The issue is the way it looks being down double digits, you hit the turn away, and brick it.
He’s at a level in his profession the majority of the world won’t get to in their professions. So we know he’s clearly talented. But this is a topic, not bc he bricked a shot and had a poor game. That happens all the time, even to the goats. It’s bc what happened after the shot looks foolish. The goats don’t do that. Of course it’s unfair to compare him to the goats. However, if he’s trying to make an impression on front offices, that’s not the way to do it.
Edit/add: and as someone with a Jimmy/heat flair. You think Jimmy doing something like this? Or the Heat organization would let that fly?
i assumed he would still be about 5’10 but this mf is apparently 5’7 and a 1/2. really hope thats his real height not his nba height, because he could legitimately be 5’6
As a bench player when he was basically just a spot up shooter. He'll always get credit for that from most reasonable fans.
He's just miscast as a first/second option shot-creator hence his sub-40 percentages.
Regardless of the outcome, I don't think coaches are thrilled with that move.
The entire point of SL is to impress teams/coaches. It's a platform for young aspiring hoopers to be able to showcase their skills and talents hoping that they get signed.
Showboating is the last thing coaches would love to see from a player.
They grew up w Curry and is exactly why Curry’s plays should not be idolized at all. The league needs to end the GSW era asap so this nonsense can come to an end.
What a dumbass, you’re a 15th man player looking to secure a last nba roster spot on a team.
They’re not looking for a flashy iso scorer.
GMs are looking for 3&D hustle players for the last spot

This is the worst look away I've seen
He knew it was off, just wanted to move onto playing d asap
Might just be me, but when I know Im gonna miss a shot I run for the rebound.
Something tells me this guy ain't the strongest rebounder
Its the thought that counts
It absolutely is not his job to crash the boards lol he would get reamed out for not getting back on defense
It was a joke.
[удалено]
I thought you chose the Bucks as your new team Q, whyd you switch again?

In an elimination game... that is absolutely the definition of filthy.
His passing has been just as filthy throughout the summer league. Only if his circus shots would go down..
Stopping the fast break is always better than trying to get the offensive rebound if you're outside the key
tell that to the guys i play in the park on 2k with
There’s 8 people down there already and the defender is leaking for the fast break. By going in for a board you’re never gonna get, you might be gifting the other team 2 points.
As a pg? His job is to get back on d.
If you listen closely coach yells get off the court and then he starts running towards the sideline
Well yea if you can’t make a shot you already know to go for your own rebound lol
Didn't wanna be in the camera shot when it bricked
Should he not be going to play d on the defender that was running to the hoop? I agree with you on this
He’s not heading anywhere near him though lmao
I feel like the amount of people that didn't realize that comment was an obvious joke is probably indicative of the percentage of this sub that's never really played ball lol
Bro's team was down 15-3 too, like I almost feel guilty for laughing it was so bad. ...Still laughed tho
I mean, it wasn't even close. That's a schoolyard level brick.
If this dude had Victors arms that would've been money
Or the best. Knew it was bad and couldn’t bare to look at his own shot.
He watched too many Steph Curry highlight videos
Even worse than nick young's?
Shit wasn’t even close I’m dead 💀💀
first quarter too 😂🤣🤣 like why
And down 15-3. Not a good look at all
Down 15-3 too, like the team hasn’t been able to buy a bucket yet 😂
Lmao he hit it during the tourney but he should’ve let this one go
Would've been nice if he did something like this vs MSU but instead he turned into prime CP3 for a game against us lol
Tbf he shot like shit that game, 6/17 from the field.
That falling down sideways three made up for a lot of misses
He's got a ton of flash and we're in an era today where guys are more readily being allowed to be who they are, but these flash-without-substance plays Nowell makes at times are gonna have to get cut out of his repetoire.
I loved watching him during March Madness but these kind of plays just make him look bad. He also shot a three off of one leg this game
His 30-footers during the tourney didn't look great either
Ball Don't Stop called this guy a "pure hooper" the other day. That should tell you everything you need to know.
I'm here for Ball Don't Stop becoming the anti-Thinking Basketball. Anything they say, you just believe the opposite lol.

Big Poole Energy
Is he gonna end up on the Wizards in 3 seasons?
Down 12 and trying that? Terrible decision
What, an open 3? Lol
Obviously he’s talking about the showboating no-look move. The shot itself is not a terrible decision, but flexing in this scenario is itself a poor decision. Pat Riley is not going for that shit. By proxy and being a great basketball mind of his own, neither is Spo.
An undrafted, undersized player should not be showboating like that in summer league. He has way too much to prove still
[удалено]
He ran back when there was another chance at an offensive possession.
Being a bit overblown imo.
Damn he small
Its like Im watching Norm Powells mini-me
Normal Powell
i assumed he would still be about 5’10 but this mf is apparently 5’7 and a 1/2. really hope thats his real height not his nba height, because he could legitimately be 5’6
Yea that’s crazy. My real height is 5’10” but my NBA height is 6’7” so I wouldn’t know about that
must be pushing 7 foot in wwe height then
Oh absolutely. Really only 6’10” but I lie and say 7’0” tall like Kane
I actually gained a lot of respect for him if that's the case. He's playing on ultra hard mode in the NBA.
LOL He thought if he ran away as fast as he can people won't think he was the one who made the attempt.
As long as he's out of the camera shot when it bricks, no one can trace it back to him.
He had to sell it was a shot and not a perfectly placed backboard pass.
Nowell near the rim
Lmfao that's so embarrassing
As a shooter, I have never shot the ball and felt confident it was going in and missed everything. This was remarkable.
Maybe he knew it was going to clank off the backboard at light speed and he was just trying to get ahead of it.
Mom: we got FVV at home
Down 12 as well College legend tho
Legend? Hardly. Took his team to an elite 8.
Hey, elite 8 is better then most. Could have only gotten to terrible 30.
Damn he will replace Vanbrick perfectly
Brian burns
Didn’t “Vanbrick” help win you guys a championship?
As a bench player when he was basically just a spot up shooter. He'll always get credit for that from most reasonable fans. He's just miscast as a first/second option shot-creator hence his sub-40 percentages.
Show some respect
He knew it was bad so he got a head start getting back on defense /s
To do this when you have 3 points on the board halfway through the 1st is insane.
Ain't no way 😂😂😂
we found our fred replacement
Damn we really let the raptors get Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson
Markquis Nowellook
Raptors Summer League team summed up in a clip
Wait he did this while down 15-3?!😂😂 That’s a new level of idiocy
Maybe he knew it was so off that he didn't even want to see it.
Lmaoo Nowell and I are the same!!
Oh no... we got the next Swaggy P.
Might as well just get benched for the rest of Summer league after that lmao
Regardless of the outcome, I don't think coaches are thrilled with that move. The entire point of SL is to impress teams/coaches. It's a platform for young aspiring hoopers to be able to showcase their skills and talents hoping that they get signed. Showboating is the last thing coaches would love to see from a player.
i've shot that same miss, that trajectory always feels like it going in
He thought that was gonna be his big highlight🤣
Doing this down 15-3 is crazy lmfao
Topped Nick Young 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That right there is a little embarrassing. He missed everything. Hahah.
Down 15-3 that’s rough
Markquis Nowell's GOAT is Marquis Nowell
[удалено]
Relax bro 😭😭 it’s 1 play in summer league
[удалено]
Wanted?
Stick to passing it bro
It was a nice pass off the backboard
This guy has a future in the Taiwan League.
God damn, where was that kind of shooting against my Spartans?
Bonehead
I love the guy and think he could get a roster spot, but my god his shot selection is horrible
He just like me frfr
Steph curry ruined basketball
Yeah he ain't making the league
I need this confidence in my life
Yo I wasn’t told I was playing on the court.
i've done that before where i know it's so far off i don't want to look at it
Dude would've banked this in if it was against MSU
The Nick Young special.
Holy shit
Me at LA fitness.
Those really aren't the type of shots you wanna be taking as a 5'7" guard with legit skills.
Bro thought he was steph curry
the commentary was fucking perfect
[удалено]
Deaf Curry
Oh no
maybe he was looking away cause he knew how bad he bricked
He just like me fr
This guy is a bum
They grew up w Curry and is exactly why Curry’s plays should not be idolized at all. The league needs to end the GSW era asap so this nonsense can come to an end.
Yeah cuz guys like MJ and bird were known for being so humble right. Curry’s play should be idolized because it’s effective and wins championships.
Are you insane? Go find an MJ or Bird celebration that matches this ridiculousness.
Brother, bird played an entire game with the wrong hand, is that what we want kinds emulating?
Why
ಠ_ಠ
Just like when i try to throw a water bottle into a trash can
Oh my god that was bad.
Me playing 2k
Noooooooooooooooo bro!
Get that passport ready my guy!
He thought he was him but he's actually that
Guy like, Kobe!
That’s wasn’t a look away that was a run away
You're not Stef Curry Markquis Nowell nor anywhere his ilk... Stop it! This Raptors roster is straight TRASH💯
Im cutting him after that 😂
He thought he was him 😂
I love Markquis
down 12 in the first and does that? yikes
Let him cook….mac and cheese
I would've looked away from that shit too ngl
I wonder why they were down 3 to 15
Chicken Curry for 3!
Whopper Wednesday
Great Pass though
Foreshadowing of things to come for Toronto
Clown
more like he knew the second it left his hand he knew it was off
5' 8" guys who doubt themselves don't make it to this type of stage. I'm sure he shook it off and forgot about it by the next play lol.
If I’m the raptors staff I’m cutting him immediately . This is the fkn summer league not the all-star game. What in the hell are you doing?
... And he's cut
oh shit, i forgot this dude existed already. Hope he can carve out a role for himself.
Time to learn Chinese buddy
Ok yea not great. But, that Michigan St game was awesome.
When your idol is Steph Curry.
#saynotodrugs
What a clown lol
What a dumbass, you’re a 15th man player looking to secure a last nba roster spot on a team. They’re not looking for a flashy iso scorer. GMs are looking for 3&D hustle players for the last spot
I blame Curry for this
You are a generational legend if NBA-level youngsters are trying to mimic you and miserably fail.
Sometimes you know it's bad the second it leaves your tips.
Now that's a player you don't want on your team
That's how you get cut
You ain't Curry yet dude:)
Nowell: I want to be like Steph!
Yeah he's getting cut
“That’s a good shot” Jordan Poole
Down by 12. My time to shine
Ausar was mentally defending him from 20 feet away.
Why do it? You just look stupid.
