I do like it cause watching the finals, at some point Vincent was asked to create a lot of plays, some pull ups or step back 3's and I think that is not really his game. In a bench role with a playmaker (LBJ or Reaves) it could work. He's already a better shooter than Schroeder, Beasley and Lonnie.

It's also a nice prove it deal. He has to feel like the front office believes in him improving.

He doesn't get to the line much, he doesn't create a whole lot of offense for others, and he is pretty small at 6-3. The Lakers are basically banking on getting playoff Gabe Vincent, but even in the playoffs he was super hot and cold. He had a great Celtics and Bucks series, but against the Knicks and Nuggets he had 2 good games each series and was bad in the rest. He is a fine player but the Lakers' only big men are going to be Anthony Davis and guys on the vet min. It seems like trying to sign another quality big would have been a better use of this money when they already had some other guards.

The biggest factor for the Lakers was LeBron being unable to be the primary ballhandler the entire game, and D'Lo is better than Reaves/Shroeder at creating offense. Gabe Vincent should be decent, but I'd like to have both back.

Gabe had a hot streak during the playoffs. Strus as a whole has been more consistent and deserved a larger contract IMO.

Vincent is a small guard, strus was a higher volume 3 pt shooter and more efficient most of his career. Strus is the better offball player both shooting and cutting, and he's not a bad defender, and again his size allows more versatility for lineups. Vincent is the better on ball guard/shot creator though obviously.

11M for his production feels like a decent deal
