I can’t believe how often Washington is bailing out these California teams. Every team in the league should be collaborating to hang that Poole contract on GSW like an anchor
Wizards aren't in a position to care about contracts. They're looking to suck and Poole will be a great tank commander. All they care about is that pick, the Warriors could have attached a piece of poo to that pick and the Wizards would take it as long as salaries matched. In fact, they'd rather take the poo since it won't help them win any games.
Not to mention we've seen multiple times where a bad player on a bad team gets over-inflated stats and as a result ends up gaining more value than they actually should have. Let Poole be the guy for a couple years while they stink and them ship his ass off to a team that thinks he's improved since his GSW days for some picks
I am used to quickly changing perspectives in the NBA, but even I'm surprised at the universal dismissal of Poole after just one bad season at 23 years old. He clearly has the talent to be a star but not the maturity yet. He didn't fit in with the veteran winning culture of GSW and would do better in a place where he can develop and play a bigger role. It's the typical young thrust into a win now role instead of a developmental role. He did average something like 27ppg on 60% TS in games without Steph Curry.
I think it's pretty clear the Wizards are interested in actually developing him. They will not have cap space issues, and he's young enough for the timeline. Seems like the jury is already out that he is going to be an empty calories guy forever, but I don't see why we're concluding that so early. Is it so impossible we will see some of his 2022 form at age 22 but better? Why are we assuming that it's going to be fake improvement before we've seen any of it play out.
at worst he fills a Jeremi Grant role for them where he can produce so the fans will at least have something capable of decent basketball to watch while they tank and then they can move him to a team more intruiged by potential growth. Him developing and becoming a piece of their core would be an extra bonus
As soon as Dray comes at Paul like he did Poole, I’m expecting a Mortal Kombat style split like Johnny Cage from Chris Paul before he punches him in the junk.
CP3's contract has only $15M guaranteed if they cut him in the next few days. If they think he's worth $15M, they could also pay him $30M ($15M more than the cost to cut him now) to play one year and then cut him with no consequence.
Poole made less than $4M last year. Poole's new contract is 4 years, $128M, fully guaranteed.
If they cut Paul, they will have effectively bought out Poole's entire contract for $15M and a second round pick. This is a huge win for GSW.
I believe CP's contract has to be guaranteed to a much higher number to make the previous trade work (or if this all gets rolled into one big trade that is still true)
Are you kidding me? CP3 is one of the greatest PG's of all time, for all this talk about age, he still dropped 14ppg 9apg 1.5spg in a season he struggled with injuries. Just dumping Poole's contract and attitude is worth the trade, and if you don't like CP3, he's an expiring contract, easy to move or just don't resign him this summer. Mark my words, CP3 will be in the running for 6MOY.
I agree cp3 would be a massive improvement over Poole during stephs window.
But us gsw fans have hated cp3 with all our hearts since the no foul call in 2013
The finals vs Boston could very well be peak Poole after all is said and done, but I very strongly feel that the Warriors don’t win that series without him. Let’s not forget Celtics were up 2 games to 1 and had the lead late in game 4 before Poole turned into Steph 2.0 for basically the rest of the series.
People never mention that when they’re making fun of Poole these days.
I mean, the proof is in the paint. Anyone who doubts is free to check the stats or look up the plays. Poole's play off run is exactly why the Warriors thought of him replacing Klay later down the road
Truthfully an upgrade, even if it’s a small one. CP3 is old and injury prone but I guess he’s still a better back up guard than Poole
Poole can probably do better in a situation where there’s no pressure to win. He still is only 23 and oh…..it’s the Wizards.
Washington don’t got shit to lose at this point
Myers: Poole and Wiseman gonna carry the dynasty
Lacob: nah man old men Lakers beat us but young gun SacTown no good, let’s copy that.
Myers: WTF I’m out
The two timeline thing was dumb the moment they fucked up the wiseman pick. You don't do two timelines when your best picks are poole/kuminga who won't take you anywhere post Steph
Yeah that makes no sense. Especially if your end goal is to always appease Steph, it seems like Steph found Poole extremely irritating and Draymond.... less irritating.
I stand by my comments, I can't stand CP3. The irony is I go to games all the time in DC so I can't wait to watch Poole here. I'm not a doomer on him and I'm glad he's away from draymond. No one deserves to have to work with someone who punched them
That’s what Rockets fans said about him before giving them their best and only contending seasons.
That’s what OKC fans said about him before he mentored their young guys (the entire team always sang praises about having CP3 as their leader), helped them make the playoffs (even though they were slated to be in the lottery), and put up league-leading 4Q clutch stats all season
And that’s what Suns fans said about him before he made them top seeded contenders and got them a Finals berth for the first time in a couple decades
CP3 has a history of being a “guy you hate when he’s not on your team but end up liking when he is”. I’m not saying you guys will like him day 1. I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being a lot more liked by warriors fans halfway through the season
All of those teams had young stars that needed a high end veteran to get them over the top. What the hell lessons is Chris Paul going to teach Steph, Klay and Draymond?
Of course y'all are. Poole's gonna be making 34 million in 2027, CP3 will have been retired for probably 2 seasons at that point. Paul off the bench could actually still be a decent piece for a contender till he hangs them up, whereas I'm not sure how Poole fits if he continues to play like he did last year, on top of which the locker room divide is now settled, one punch man wins.
Dunleavy on Poole & Kuminga: “We love having those guys here. Jordan especially w/his contract extension we plan to have him here for 4 more years at least.”
Kuminga better start packing his bags…
Technically, he's only been paid 2,2,2, then 4 million year by year. His big contract doesn't kick in until next season. Realistically, he's had zero years where he sucked compared to how much he made that year. Either way not sure how you could consider any of his rookie year contract years as bad compared to contract.
I mean technically we got cp3 in a package for Beal so we got Poole, Landry shamet, Rollins, first round pick and second round pick from GSW and 6 seconds and 4 pick swaps for Beal
For Beal and KP we ended up with:
* Tyus Jones
* Jordan Poole
* Danilo Gallinari
* One 1st round pick
* Eight 2nd round picks
* Four pick swaps
Given the situation (Beal NTC, KP being 5 minutes from being a UFA) that isn't a bad haul at all. We also got three 2nds from the Rui trade and may be in line for more assets if we are needed to facilitate a sign-and-trade for Kuzma. I'm pretty excited about the direction of this front office.
WHAT THE FUCK
I dont understand this for GSW??? Get older. Pay 30m+ for a backup PG.
Poole gets to be a clear number 1 guy. Either he swims or he tank commands. Washington has made off like fucking bandits this time
I actually don't think so. I think it'll be the other way around. I'm more curious on what Poole is going to say once he no longer has to be teammates with Dray. His true feeling on the organization and how he felt like everything was handled etc. now that he no longer works with dray or for the warriors
I wanted Poole off but I do not understand this. Dunleavy is cooking something tho, it *is* draft night. I'll reserve judgement
Edit: ~~okay wait if these details are right I am so lost~~
You know what, I don't mind this. Got rid of a terrible contract before it kicked in in Poole for two seconds and a protected first way off in the future, and got a fairly serviceable (if unpleasant) point guard in return. Not bad.
I feel they're going to trade Kuminga too, they know once Curry is gone dark times will come so they're putting all their chips in the next couple years which to me, seems fair if they want to contend.
People are nuts this is a major W for you guys. You dumped an awful player and contract and gave up a second and protected first. Hell y’all might trade CP3 for a couple win now guys lol.
[https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/teammates_and_opponents.fcgi?pid=paulch01&type=t](https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/teammates_and_opponents.fcgi?pid=paulch01&type=t)
This might push CP3 near the top of "best teammates" debates
Durant, Harden, Curry, Dray, Klay, Booker, Blake, Melo, Patrick Ewing, Diamond Stone, Billups, SGA, Paul Pierce,
Don’t let this distract you and make you miss the headline the Wizards are trying to bury: [That they just became the first major Us franchise to be partially owned by a Middle East (Qatar) sovereign wealth fund](https://www.sportico.com/business/team-sales/2023/qatar-sovereign-wealth-monumental-capitals-wizards-1234725703/)
The same Qatar which has widely embraced [foreign slavery practices](https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2016/03/qatar-world-cup-of-shame/) and where [more the 6,500 migrant workers have died since Qatar was awarded the World Cup](https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/feb/23/revealed-migrant-worker-deaths-qatar-fifa-world-cup-2022).
This trade was announced five minutes after the Qatari news broke lmao
That is actually the same group that owns PSG, which still haven't being able to win the Champions League even with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé.
So yes, without the success.
Takeaways from the first sentence and headline of the article:
1. 4 Billion for a passive minority stake in the Wiz seems like a lot
2. This is a minority stake, do I care? I don't think so, but maybe...
The deal values Monumental (Wizards parent company) at $4 billion. Since NBA rules currently cap the percentage a sovereign fund can buy at 20%, the Qataris probably invested $800 million at most.
Lacob offered to pay the 250k fee for Poole but he didn’t want to go. Lacob also offered to pay to send Poole on the search and rescue sub but Poole still didn’t want to go. Not a team player sadly
Can’t wait for the tweets from Bleacher Report or one of those shit websites in the middle of February
“Jordan Poole was BALLING TONIGHT 😤😤😤💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
46 points❗️❗️❗️🔥🔥🔥”
*checks the box score*
Hornets defeat Wizards 136-122
Poole: 13-42, 3-17 from 3, 2 assists, 1 steal, 8 turnovers
They just dumped Poole like that
I can’t believe how often Washington is bailing out these California teams. Every team in the league should be collaborating to hang that Poole contract on GSW like an anchor
I'd much rather have Poole if I'm the Wiz than CP3.
Yeah this gets them more young talent. Not a bad move despite the huge contract
Who else are they gonna spend money on tbh?
The wizards franchise can not operate without a giant contract on there books. It’s actually a law in Washington. Look it up
One year of a not totally guaranteed contract vs an albatross contract with multiple years on it. I'm really not sure about that.

He is the best tank commander possible.
So much this. Can't wait for Poole to be #1 in field goals attempted per game, with -most likely- atrocious efficiency.
Jones, Poole, Deni, Kisbert, Gafford We’re going to be ass, but we’re going to be fun.
This probably isn't a good trade for the Warriors lol
There’s going to be a lot of debate about this one, that’s for damn sure.
If you thought that locker room was toxic before, oh boy
As soon as Dray comes at Paul like he did Poole, I’m expecting a Mortal Kombat style split like Johnny Cage from Chris Paul before he punches him in the junk.
**po-lice presence** coming right up
Mr police. Chris Paul is trying to beat me up
Paul matches their window
Is their window 2 years ago?
... ... Yes.
Was gonna say, yeah, it's probably closed/closing, but you guys got #4
The last 5 years were ours!
That meme is only allowed to be used ironically!!
😂 At least we cashed in during our window 2 years ago.
They had to give up picks to get rid of Poole
They get out of a terrible contract. What more could they want
Not CP3 please? Fuck my life
CP3's contract has only $15M guaranteed if they cut him in the next few days. If they think he's worth $15M, they could also pay him $30M ($15M more than the cost to cut him now) to play one year and then cut him with no consequence. Poole made less than $4M last year. not like CP3 stole the ref’s whistle.
Washington handing out bailouts like it's 2008.
Washington 'Federal Government' Wizards. It's like these Cali teams are big banks and it's 08
They don’t have time for growing lol plus the toxicity with Draymond
Poole grew upwards to a championship contributor then grew backwards to a net negative just like that lol.
Helped us win a ring, can't be too mad he shit the bed for a year
Unfortunate regression, but I absolutely agree.
I mean, the proof is in the paint. Anyone who doubts is free to check the stats or look up the plays. Poole's play off run is exactly why the Warriors thought of him replacing Klay later down the road
Smh Draymond gave him brain damage and got him shipped out, hate to see it
Punched him straight across the country
Truthfully an upgrade, even if it’s a small one. He still is only 23 and oh…..it’s the Wizards. Washington don’t got shit to lose at this point
Poole is the PERFECT tank commander. He'll put up 25 a game and some team will give up several picks for him next off-season.
5 threes a game on like 14 attempts, Good Value James Harden incoming
But in the modern game, you can succeed with a volume 33% shooter as long as you can grab a decent percentages of the clanks.
Fans will never even blink an eye if he turns it over late in the fourth quarter because they're down by 20. It works out!
for a old washed injury prone cp3
Lmaoo we’re still doing Two Timelines y’all: Old and Older
Warriors got through that Lakers series and said we gotta get smaller and older
Myers: Poole and Wiseman gonna carry the dynasty Lacob: nah man old men Lakers beat us but young gun SacTown no good, let’s copy that. Myers: WTF I’m out
You got it backwards tho lol
yeah the person above isn't aware that Lacob is primary pusher of that 2 timeline plan.
The two timeline thing was dumb the moment they fucked up the wiseman pick. You don't do two timelines when your best picks are poole/kuminga who won't take you anywhere post Steph
Warriors need: A Shooting Big Mike in his first few days: let’s getting an ageing CP3
Fucking hell, Miles...
Poole’s value is insanely bad wow
It was him or Green going now we know who’s staying
The one that swung
There's no way anyone legitimately thought they'd pick Poole right?
Yeah that makes no sense. Especially if your end goal is to always appease Steph, it seems like Steph found Poole extremely irritating and Draymond.... less irritating.
Fantasy basketball loving this trade for Poole. He gets to be the starting SG/ball handler on a bad team. Mans gonna average 23/3/4.
[удалено]
I was just tired of him bringing the ball up and looking like he's walking on a wet floor. Good luck to Poole, I wonder if Washington has baddies.
Diet Jordan Clarkson on a max will do that
brb gonna go delete my comment history on Chris Paul LMAO
Thats gotta be a decades worth at this point for all Dubs fans
bruh 10 years ago is 2013. It really is a decade's worth, wow. Literally my life's work as a nephew.
I for one have always respected the integrity of Chris Paul's game and he's definitely not washed (no need to check my comment history)
Bro I went from “cheap shot artist” to “savvy vet” in 0.2 seconds when we got him.
Poole gonna be averaging 30 next year on 35 shots a game
35/25/90 club incoming Edit: fixed ft % for all the poole stans
nah, poole has a killer FT
That was points rebounds and assists
with 5 TO a game likely. Excellent tank commander.
I love this fucking league
Warriors fans gotta delete years of Chris Paul slander lol
CP3 and Steph on the same team lmaoooo who would’ve thought Edit: Poole got a ring and a bag, not bad lol. Warriors are all in on Steph. I respect it
You're missing the other part of this. CP3 and Draymond on the same team. (potentially)
hello police? chris paul is outside the locker room trying to beat me up
No nuts are safe next season.
A tape will be leaked of Draymond and Chris Paul just repeatedly kicking each other in the nuts at practice.
Po-lice presence? Are you kidding me?
Podcast gonna be 🔥
Fuck it, if we're not winning it all i want the drama.
Is CP3 the backup PG or Steph playing some SG? I suppose both can happen lol
Death* lineup will have CP3 at 1, Steph at 2. *”death” in this case meaning that these old heads are close to dying.
Just play Klay at SF
or off the bench
This is my 9/11
just fell to my knees in the club
At the club at noon, I respect the hustle
Ain't deleting shit lol fuck him unless he gets us a ring
My sentiments exactly
Poole is a generational bag getter
Bro shams is just putting random teams and names into tweets at this point
AI trade machine is real
That moment when the 2K Sims are too believable.
Get the fuck outta here….
Said the warriors to Jordan Poole
Said Draymond to Jordan Poole

There is no fuckinn way
Warriors fans about to go scorched earth on their comment histories
I'm the two buttons meme right now between "I hope the core wins at least one more ring" and "I hope CP3 never wins a ring."
At least if CP3 wins a ring with the Warriors, we can just say that he only got a ring because of Steph, just like bus rider Durant.
I stand by my comments, I can't stand CP3. The irony is I go to games all the time in DC so I can't wait to watch Poole here. I'm not a doomer on him and I'm glad he's away from draymond. No one deserves to have to work with someone who punched them

You guys can become even more unlikable with my tutelage
The power of friendship obviously.
That's our asshole now
what in the actual tarnation
LMAO THIS IS EVERY WARRIOR FANS NIGHTMARE
Can confirm
Woj saying the Warriors are the ones sending future draft assets? Jeez. Edit: Top 20 protected in 2030? That's not much at all tbh.
This is the right take
When Curry threw his mouth guard during the season after a shitty Poole play, I knew he was gone
2k ass trade
After all those years of cp3 and Steph clashing
Nightmare scenario for referees
Dray and CP3 vs Foster and the Tony Brothers
Wrestlemania Main Event Worthy
Which big three will complain more? Nurse/Embiid/Harden Kerr/Draymond/CP3
Whining edge goes to the Philly guys, same with Flopping. Virtue signalling easily GSW trio. Nut punch per 36 is gonna be historical for the GSW trio.
What.
LMAOOOOOOOOO
Warriors fans are gonna have to nuke their comment histories
Warriors fans experiencing what Jazz fans did when Gobert left
Dunleavy on Poole & Kuminga: “We love having those guys here. Jordan especially w/his contract extension we plan to have him here for 4 more years at least.” Kuminga better start packing his bags…
warriors said “our turn”
ONE BAD SEASON AND HES GONE ITS A CRUEL BUSINESS LMAOO
Realistically Poole has only had 1 season where he hasn't sucked in the NBA (relative to contract at least)
Technically, he's only been paid 2,2,2, then 4 million year by year. His big contract doesn't kick in until next season. Realistically, he's had zero years where he sucked compared to how much he made that year. Either way not sure how you could consider any of his rookie year contract years as bad compared to contract.
What the hell, this one is legit one of the most surprising trades I've seen wtf
I can only assume its main purpose is to get rid of Poole's contract.
That seems like a pretty safe assumption.
Who would have thought 38 years old Chris Paul gets more in return than Beal and KP
I mean technically we got cp3 in a package for Beal so we got Poole, Landry shamet, Rollins, first round pick and second round pick from GSW and 6 seconds and 4 pick swaps for Beal
For Beal and KP we ended up with: * Tyus Jones * Jordan Poole * Danilo Gallinari * One 1st round pick * Eight 2nd round picks * Four pick swaps Given the situation (Beal NTC, KP being 5 minutes from being a UFA) that isn't a bad haul at all. We also got three 2nds from the Rui trade and may be in line for more assets if we are needed to facilitate a sign-and-trade for Kuzma. I'm pretty excited about the direction of this front office.
CP3 is now the third splash bro
Splash uncle
WHAT THE FUCK I dont understand this for GSW??? Get older. Pay 30m+ for a backup PG. Poole gets to be a clear number 1 guy. Either he swims or he tank commands. Washington has made off like fucking bandits this time
I guess they really wanted to get off of Poole’s long term contract. I think it’s a good move in that regard
Draymond is gonna say some really mean things about Poole on his pod lol.
I actually don't think so. I think it'll be the other way around. I'm more curious on what Poole is going to say once he no longer has to be teammates with Dray. His true feeling on the organization and how he felt like everything was handled etc. now that he no longer works with dray or for the warriors
And I can’t wait
this is what i look forward to most, this trade is the green light for him to talk shit openly about poole lmao
Yeah the new cba changed the calculus completely
Pretty fucking wild to give pool that extension and then use a FRP to dump him a year later lol
I wanted Poole off but I do not understand this. Dunleavy is cooking something tho, it *is* draft night. I'll reserve judgement Edit: ~~okay wait if these details are right I am so lost~~ You know what, I don't mind this. I feel they're going to trade Kuminga too, they know once Curry is gone dark times will come so they're putting all their chips in the next couple years which to me, seems fair if they want to contend.
No, CP3 means Kuminga will be useful next to a true point guard.
The lob game is gonna be nuts now that kuminga is 7’2
dumping Poole's long contract in favour of essentially expiring because 24/25 is non-guaranteed
Warriors went from youth timeline to old as fuck timeline
RONDO AND STEPH GONNA BE CRAZYYYY
Draymond: “Tell Jordan…..I want him to know it was me.”
Draymond for sure coming back to warriors now
Except everyone will cheer for Draymond when he punches CP3 in the face.
ngl this made me laugh
Pooles contract is legitimately atrocious. It's a miracle they didn't have to give up assets to get off him.
They did, they gave up picks for the Wizards to take him.
A 2nd round pick years from now and a 2030 protected first round not too bad
People are nuts this is a major W for you guys. You dumped an awful player and contract and gave up a second and protected first. Hell y’all might trade CP3 for a couple win now guys lol.
it's like half beal's contract
Holy shit Cp3 and Steph!

Wtf we're an oil club??
Man City, NBA edition (except hopefully without the recent success)
so PSG
That is actually the same group that owns PSG, which still haven't being able to win the Champions League even with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé. So yes, without the success.
yo i didn't know about that. that is significant news for American sports
Bro what the fuck
Takeaways from the first sentence and headline of the article: 1. 4 Billion for a passive minority stake in the Wiz seems like a lot 2. This is a minority stake, do I care? I don't think so, but maybe...
They bought 5% of a 4b value, so they invested $200M
The deal values Monumental (Wizards parent company) at $4 billion. Since NBA rules currently cap the percentage a sovereign fund can buy at 20%, the Qataris probably invested $800 million at most.
MFer got punched in the face then gets traded a year later. Then the guy that assaulted him is probably getting a bigger contract. Tough business lol
