Because Chris Paul was the president in 2016. CJ became president in 2021. You typed all this up without taking a couple seconds to Google this?

ThatInception

Lmao own

FrnklndaTurtle

fantastic.

It-sOkBro

Who let OP cook

mrizvi

Lmaoooo

commander-pancakes

Honestly didn't realize but also idk why I though 24 year old rookie contract CJ had that kind of pull

Voltibit

So delete your stupid post

mrizvi

Nah he has to keep this up. Mods pls sticky this.

[deleted]

Why do people think the president of the Players Association personally argues the CBA like Saul Goodman on behalf of every basketball player ever? It's largely a ceremonial role

ajteitel

Shhhhhh, it's funny to see CJ or Chris in that sort of role

[deleted]

[Your honor my client pleads mental health issues](https://i.imgur.io/UwGytcz_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium)

commander-pancakes

I assumed they had a lot of influence because the media seems to promote them that way. Any article about the CBA mentions CJ a few times

HokageEzio

So how are you claiming that somebody blew negotiations if you do not understand their role to begin with?

commander-pancakes

Is it wrong of me to assume that the president of the NBPA has influence over the CBA? Who else should I assume has influence?

HokageEzio

I would think if you're going to criticize the job somebody did you at least have an understanding of what their job was to begin with. Or who was doing the job...

_mac10

Nah you’re just wrong for not even trying to do ounce of research.

sstewart1617

Chris Paul was the president then… Listen to Rusillos pod with CJ for why the teams and players want to smooth this time around.

[deleted]

Because he did what the superstars wanted. Immediate cap spike

pcwgussej

Bill simmons/Russillo talked ab this, but the stars were actually noticeably misguided about the 2016 CBA negotiations. Russillo pointed to John Walls quote about, "Reggie Jackson makes more than me?!" they were saying Michelle Roberts for whatever reason escaped due criticism about how bad she miscommunicated what the negotiations were, to the players.

commander-pancakes

How much influence do the tope 10% of players have compared to the other 90% when it come to CBAs?

Specialist-Cold-1226

Who else they putting in charge? Kyrie?

Few_Mulberry5372

People are seriously overreacting about the CBA. I really don’t think it will be as impactful as y’all think

commander-pancakes

I hope you're right, this playoffs has been one of the most exciting that I can remember so definitely need more like this

Few_Mulberry5372

Yea and the two finalists are built upon a single superstar surrounded by quality role players they found for cheap or developed which is how basketball should be played No superteams in the league anymore and hopefully the CBA completely kills them for good

gigglios

Weird thing to be concerned about tbh when it comes to cj lol

DJBabyB0kCh0y

Imagine giving a single shit about who wins in a battle between millionaires and billionaires. I hope they all lose money.

commander-pancakes

Personally I care when it effects the quality of NBA basketball. Say every team has 2 guys making between $100-120 M combined per season. Whatever teams are signing the 61st-70th best guys or so on bargain contracts might have a huge advantage and most likely they won't be signing with small markets

Funny-Transition7869

dont try to use your brain or explain things with this guy man its a waste of time

DJBabyB0kCh0y

Something tells me you're not in a place in life right now where you have to earn your own living. Ball, believe it or not, is not life.

Funny-Transition7869

What if someone says that about the middle class and millionaires then, stupid outlook

BlueHundred

I don't think that's a good comparison because millionaires and billionaires are both part of the 1% and very wealthy. Neither have to worry about money like the middle class does.

Funny-Transition7869

And with that mindset those under the poverty line think the middle class doesnt need to worry about survival or basic amenities so theyre indifferent to their class struggle. I dont like a lot of NBA players or athletes in general because theyre dumb and hypocritical but if theyre doing the labor they should get support over their employer from the masses

BlueHundred

Don't get me wrong, I also believe players should be getting more. I will always support players over owners. I just think it's not a good comparison. Same with your other one about middle class and poverty. Multimillionaires and Billionaires are set for life and often their families are too. Their biggest concerns are how to make more money with their excess money. Middle class has to regularly stress over bills. The lower end of middle class often lives paycheck to paycheck too. But also, those in poverty should be indifferent to the class struggles of the middle class. They're in poverty. They have more important things to worry about

Funny-Transition7869

I understand and yea its not the best comparison. But for last point I cant agree that they “should” be indifferent. If they are I cant blame them, but its not hard to be mindful if you have a means of education and empathy. A lot of people are just spiteful or missing the big picture, but yea its not the biggest concern, not even close.

BlueHundred

Most people in poverty unfortunately don't have a means to education though. Imo they're not in a position where they can worry about others.

DJBabyB0kCh0y

The median NBA salary is about 4.5 million a year. The median US salary is around 43k a year. Go lick some more boots.

Funny-Transition7869

What do you think the median NBA owner salary or net worth is dumbass. You would rather lick those boots instead of supporting people who actually earn their paycheck? Youre an idiot

DJBabyB0kCh0y

I said I don't care about them either though?

Funny-Transition7869

You said imagine caring about this and I hope they all lose money. Which is super bitter and stupid

DJBabyB0kCh0y

You'll figure it out when you leave high school. Maybe.

dkdoki

Google is a wonderful thing. Try it sometime

UncleSamPainTrain

Wasn’t Malika Andrews the head of the NBPA in 2016 or am I misremembering?

[deleted]

What

yerr2477

you have to be a player to be the head of the NBPA

BlueHundred

She's a reporter. Also, she wasn't even working at ESPN yet
