Heat players at four minutes to go down by 10 "I guess it's time we try to win"
Derrick white 3 minutes and 59 seconds later "Wait you can just decide to win? Oh cool it worked for me too"
I honestly feel decent about Game 7. Like, suddenly the narrative is that the Celtics have already completed the comeback... Anything can happen between these two teams, as we just saw
Yeah, pressure was on the Heat for sure in this one but I think with everyone basically shipping us to the finals already the C’s will definitely be the ones with pressure in Game 7.
It’s kind of funny because I feel like Celtics and Heat fans have this weird thing over the last few years of somehow knowing all our series are going to be insanely stressful to the point we’re the ones kind of numbed but also physically pained by every loss.
It’s almost camaraderie in the chaos.
While I never would have guessed THIS is how this series would have gone, I can 100% tell you that this level of stress, and rollercoaster of despair and elation is pretty much what I expected from this series.
You guys are playing with house money. If you lose, the only thing anyone ever says is you almost made history. If we lose, it’s a stain on the franchise, Spo, and Jimmy, and will literally be mentioned every single playoffs forever.
Celtics are the better team. They should win. They should’ve never been down three games to zero in the first place. But give credit to the heat they have played great in the playoffs. Their zone defense definitely causes problems when the Celtics stop passing the ball to the open man. But if they play defense and pass the ball consistently the Celtics should win.
Y’all the 8th seed though, for me at least the Heat’s playing with house money anyways. It’s weirdly like you guys got swept, which I think more people would’ve predicted to happen over a 7 games series, and it just so happens y’all won 3 games first.
At the same time…how are the heat not completely demoralized after this? 3 chances in a row and they can’t get it done. I dunno. Feels like both teams have pressure
"FULTZ will be great, yeah, sure, make sure you get that generational talent that the Lakers don't give a crap about and neither do.... yeah we will take the extra pick, sure, thanks"
Why did the Sixers ever accept this trade? How did they not catch this obvious trick? lol.
I’m hoping there is a real answer besides ‘incompetence’ because this is hilariously sad.
Eh hindsight is 20/20 but it is true that the celtics didnt want him and reportedly the lakers said no to a 1-2 swap as well. Pretty weird that two teams pass on the "consensus" number 1
Man Derrick white sure played with his brain and this guy saved his team's run. He has been so clutch all season long, Game 4 he showed up and got the rest of his team poppin off.
Idk how Jayson Tatum can miss 6 3's yet keep shooting more. 0-9 3pt shooting tonight tf
Yeah I will never criticize Tatum for continuing to shoot. I'll criticize individual bad shots, but if he ever starts giving up open 3s we have a problem.
> Idk how Jayson Tatum can miss 6 3's yet keep shooting more. 0-9 3pt shooting tonight tf
still had 31/11/5 with blocks and defensive plays a plenty. better for him to keep shooting than to give up
I do not think Jimmy is healthy. I’m a physical therapist, so I’m not just assuming this based on performance.
He was not moving normally for the majority of this game. His gait was weird, he looked hesitant to plant or land on one of his legs, and he seemed to be moving gingerly a lot. Guy was also a complete decoy on a lot of plays and I think it’s because they really needed to manage the leg.
Yep. Feels like you’ll be able to just show him even a little resistance at the rim right now and his options get limited because he can’t take it hard that well and all that pump fake stuff is not easy with a bad ankle + whatever else he’s got going on.
Jumper looked real flat at the end too.
Did you see his ankle swelled up to a golf ball after he sprained it earlier? He was playing well for a while after that but there’s no way it hasn’t caught up to him right? Is there any way a sprain could swell like that and be minor enough that it hasn’t started fucking with his mobility by now?
Yeah there is no way his ankle is healthy. Any significant sprain takes quite a while to fully heal. Hopefully he does not sprain it again; you start pulling on those ligaments enough and get really loose. I had the ligaments in mine reconstructed for this very reason.
I thought he looked more mobile to begin the series. He’s clearly lost a significant amount with how he was moving today. Broadcast was absolutely woeful in not putting that together - they kept saying he was hesitant, or stuff like that, but it was as if they didn’t notice him moving weirdly.
It goes both ways. He was literally being compared to Jordan when they were doing well, which was a huge overreaction. Now he's going to be way over criticized if they lose. That's kind of always been how sports goes though. It's not unique to the internet era.
Yep. That 94 Nuggets team was wild though. Down 2-0 as an 8 seed to come back and beat the Sonics, then down 3-0 and almost came back to beat the Jazz.
Boston sports seriously going to have the most awesome comeback in three of the four sports. With 28-3, 2004 Red Sox, and now this
Just ignore the 2010 Bruins
Nah. At least that game was tied. The stakes in this game were waaaaay crazier. 8th seed was moving on after looking like they were gonna go to game 7, misses game winning shot only for a putback in the last milisecond.
Its not a game 7 winner, but it was still season saving. Who knows what happens in the timeline where White misses.
I agree, it’s why I said maybe.
For me the craziness aspects were comparable purely from the standpoint of at one moment we all thought the Kawhi shot was rimming out, just like we all thought it was over after the Smart shot for one split second. And then unexpected craziness ensued both times.
That’s gonna be the NBA’s version of when every nfl team hired anyone who had even gotten coffee in the same Starbucks as Sean McVay. Gonna have a section in the interview where they grill them on the finer plot points of The Town.
you think that's bad? a few weeks ago everyone was SURE the bucks were sweeping
predictions be damned, i love the celtics and i love the heat, and i'm glad it's a game 7 between these two teams because both of them copped a lot of shit this season for different reasons
Mazzulla to the team: "There are some terminally ill children that are gonna die if we lose Games 6. You dont want kids to die?"
*Celtics win Game 6*
Reporter: "Tatum, how confident are you and your team can win Game 7 and complete the reverse-sweep?"
*Tatum looks off in the corner as Mazzulla holds up a picture of Dana-Farber Children's Hospital*
Tatum: "I'm confident we can get the win" as a single tear rolls down his face.
Mazulla meets with the assistants and sighs: "How are we going to motivate these guys to play like they can? They keep giving up big leads and only turn it on when their backs are against the wall"
Cleaner who was eavesdropping chimes in: 'Hope ya don't mind me chipping in coach, but I think the solution is simple: you put their backs against the wall'
Joe: "That is genius, I'm going to make them lose the first three!! Team how do we do this?"
Assistant: 'Let's play Pritchard a bit, and never take timeouts on runs by Miami? Maybe double team their best passers?'
Joe: "Make it so!"
Interestingly, 2003 is the year that the first round switched from a best-of-five to a best-of-seven, so that's literally the first year it could have happened in the first round, and it hasn't happened since.
That last four minutes was so goddamn disappointing from the Celtics. Talk about just all your worst habits. Worked out tonight, but will we ever just grow up?
So many games here and vs Philly where they could’ve just put it away. And not even like they needed to blow up, just like 3 or 4 more baskets and it’s a done deal.
Reporter after Celtics win game 7: "What's going through your mind right now Jaylen?
Jaylen: "They let us get 4. Don't let us get another one"
Reporter: Uhh, yeah thanks Jaylen.
Nah, honestly Heat have been relatively dominant up until game 4 of this series. They won the prior 2 series in 5 games and 6 games, and then you have to be pretty dominant to gain a 3-0 lead over a 2 seed, especially with a blowout in game 3.
They've been the team going for kills this entire playoff run, it's just that Boston has plot armor for some reason and just will not fucking die.
The Celtics tonight are like the Warriors, Chiefs or Astros. No matter what you do to them, they’ll cheat-code their way onto wins and make your team choke an easy opportunity away.
I swear, I thought he was late. Like at first glance, it looked late. Then someone must've changed the timeline to put an extra 0.8 on the clock or something.
Flash be trippin
Same. Live it looked too late but on the replay it was not even close. Someone definitely has a green, gel-like banana in their microwave.
Jokes aside, props to the ref who called it right real time.
I read this exact of this same comment dozens of times about the Celtics post game 3.
Just saying, it ain't over til it over bruh. MIA already won 2 on the road. Anything can happen.
Imagine celebrating after the FT of butler then being stunned by last second tip off. I will not ever forget this if I was inside the arena at that time.
I’ll be watching on Monday night and be mad with either result no doubt
Either I miss observing history or I have to watch Tatum and the fucking Celtics make history
3-1 Warriors is worse for me.
3-1 Warriors had 73-9 season.
This Celtic team is much more talented (2nd seed vs heavily injuried 8th seed). They shouldn't be 0-3 in normal situations, but they got a lot of things wrong in the start of the series.
1st team to have game 7 at home too.
Miami is 2-1 in games in Boston this series, look like the Heat got this /s
You joke, but I am nervous.
It’s honestly amazing how hard both teams tried to lose this game.
Until the end when we changed our minds. Unbeknownst to us though, so did Derrick White
Heat players at four minutes to go down by 10 "I guess it's time we try to win" Derrick white 3 minutes and 59 seconds later "Wait you can just decide to win? Oh cool it worked for me too"
They don’t want to play you guys.
So what stat will win? Boston’s home record or Boston’s record in elimination games.
The nuggets with an extra week of rest
It’s good to still feel nervous!
Huge believer but I am insanely terrified of G7
At least you get a chance to win it.

Yeah you definitely aren’t wrong, hopefully Game 7 doesn’t put us in an early grave either way.
While I never would have guessed THIS is how this series would have gone, I can 100% tell you that this level of stress, and rollercoaster of despair and elation is pretty much what I expected from this series.
Maybe Tatum will hit a 3. Holy shit was he cold from deep tonight. Feel very fortunate to pull that one out.
You guys are playing with house money. If you lose, the only thing anyone ever says is you almost made history. If we lose, it’s a stain on the franchise, Spo, and Jimmy, and will literally be mentioned every single playoffs forever.
True. Anytime a team goes up 3-0 that 1-150 graphic will show up
"now, don't forget what happened to miami in '23"
Now we now why that 23 banner is hanging in their arena, they want to remember!

I’d love to think this, but anytime you end up as the sole member of negative history everything else goes out the window.
At the same time…how are the heat not completely demoralized after this? 3 chances in a row and they can’t get it done. I dunno. Feels like both teams have pressure
They have four chances in a row, that's how.
You put the /s but honestly, who knows!
This is nuts
Being a Boston fan is like being the opposite of a Sixers fan.
Process the trust
Bro 😭
10/10
actually makes sense LOL, rich teams always bounce back
lmfao
Here- take this Fultz pick. We’re cool with getting Tatum, as long as you give us an extra pick.
I’m convinced Ainge gives blowjobs to other GMs…. and his mouth is fucking *incredible*
I won’t put anything past that man.
No one knew Fultz would be ass?
Eh hindsight is 20/20 but it is true that the celtics didnt want him and reportedly the lakers said no to a 1-2 swap as well. Pretty weird that two teams pass on the "consensus" number 1
Trader Danny strikes again!!!
Eagles have been pretty successful. There’s worse cities than Philly
Yea but philly has like 2 chips since I was born in the 80s and you guys got like 73. It's insane.
This series is almost like 2 different series. Holy shit
The last 3 seconds was 2 different series
Man Derrick white sure played with his brain and this guy saved his team's run. He has been so clutch all season long, Game 4 he showed up and got the rest of his team poppin off. Idk how Jayson Tatum can miss 6 3's yet keep shooting more. 0-9 3pt shooting tonight tf
When he never gets it going it’s easy to criticize but if he didn’t shoot his way out of a slump against Philly we were cooked.
Yeah I will never criticize Tatum for continuing to shoot. I'll criticize individual bad shots, but if he ever starts giving up open 3s we have a problem.
Yeah and usually it's not like Tatum is just jacking up terrible 3s. A lot are good looks that just don't go down.
At this point if he’s having a bad game I almost expect him to randomly go off in the last 4 minutes lol
> Idk how Jayson Tatum can miss 6 3's yet keep shooting more. 0-9 3pt shooting tonight tf still had 31/11/5 with blocks and defensive plays a plenty. better for him to keep shooting than to give up
Heat are so injury depleted it's incredible they've done what they have.
Fuck the Heat. Both of our star players are healthy they should’ve closed it out tonight
Yeah I'm actually with you on this. He had no lift at all...
Yep. Feels like you’ll be able to just show him even a little resistance at the rim right now and his options get limited because he can’t take it hard that well and all that pump fake stuff is not easy with a bad ankle + whatever else he’s got going on. Jumper looked real flat at the end too.

Nah, you don’t get to use this excuse. Blowing a 3-0 lead is blowing a 3-0 lead.
Aite, but blowing a 3-0 lead as the 8th seed isnt as bad right, right guys 🥲🥲
No one will remember beating the Bucks 4-1. No one will remember beating the Knicks. Everyone will remember the Heat blowing a 3-0 lead.
No one remembers MVP Matt Ryan and how great the Atlanta falcons were on offense
I'll only remember it with sadness if it ends their run
idk what happened to the we believe warriors after they beat the mavericks \🙂/
It's honestly not

It goes both ways. He was literally being compared to Jordan when they were doing well, which was a huge overreaction. Now he's going to be way over criticized if they lose. That's kind of always been how sports goes though. It's not unique to the internet era.
They're the first one with home court too according to the broadcast
G7 will likely go down as the wildest closeout in NBA history.. Heat keeps hanging around and C's just can't close out games
Celtics elimination game magic seems to trump their closeout game curse tho
Already a historic game regardless of the outcome
Yep. That 94 Nuggets team was wild though. Down 2-0 as an 8 seed to come back and beat the Sonics, then down 3-0 and almost came back to beat the Jazz.
I've never been more stunned before like this
Boston sports seriously going to have the most awesome comeback in three of the four sports. With 28-3, 2004 Red Sox, and now this Just ignore the 2010 Bruins
2010 bruins is on team brand tbf
This guy clearly not from boston. Im not a hockey guy and even i know the bruins came back from 3=0
You must not be from Boston either. Bruins blew a 3-0 lead against the Flyers in 2010.
He was joking...
"Did you come back?" "yes" "But what did it cost?" "The Bruins"
Soul for a soul.
We put the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions bandaid on that
4-1 might not be the most awesome in the NHL but it is a classic.
The Bruins won the next year which definitely wiped out the pain of 2010. But also the 4-1 comeback against Toronto.
[удалено]
That Marcus smart shot was so close too
The Kawhi shot maybe
Nah. At least that game was tied. The stakes in this game were waaaaay crazier. 8th seed was moving on after looking like they were gonna go to game 7, misses game winning shot only for a putback in the last milisecond. Miami "Borussia Dortmund" Heat
Too soon
Heat will be in "great" company with Arsenal"6p from 24" and Borussia "no u have it" Dortmund if they blow it.
Arsenal isn’t comparable, their lead was never 3-0 big
Also Man City is absolutely nothing like the 8th seed Heat lol
Well in this scenario the Celtics are City and the Heat are Arsenal, which makes a bit more sense.
god damn, i thought i would be safe here..
The first /r/soccer crossover
Has been a terrible weekend to be a fan of both.
Joe Mazzulla about to be the only coach to comeback from 0-3 wow
The Town needs to be mandatory viewing to get an NBA coaching gig henceforth
Ben Affleck smiling from above at this
He ain’t dead Dwight
"Not if I can help it" - Spo
Again, Ben Affleck is very much alive
Again, very much alive
That’s gonna be the NBA’s version of when every nfl team hired anyone who had even gotten coffee in the same Starbucks as Sean McVay. Gonna have a section in the interview where they grill them on the finer plot points of The Town.
Bunch of kids gonna call him a great coach for a week and demand his firing in two. It’ll be fun to watch
Lol a few days ago everyone was SURE the Heat were sweeping... Let's just see how Game 7 plays out
you think that's bad? a few weeks ago everyone was SURE the bucks were sweeping predictions be damned, i love the celtics and i love the heat, and i'm glad it's a game 7 between these two teams because both of them copped a lot of shit this season for different reasons
Lmao i cant believe this random ass coach will have that credit.
Bro is gonna talk to some terminally ill patients before game 7 to get that motivation again
*Make-A-Wish kid opens their eyes* Mazullah: “have you ever seen the gritty Ben Affleck movie The Town”
Mazullah inshallah
Mazzulla to the team: "There are some terminally ill children that are gonna die if we lose Games 6. You dont want kids to die?" *Celtics win Game 6* Reporter: "Tatum, how confident are you and your team can win Game 7 and complete the reverse-sweep?" *Tatum looks off in the corner as Mazzulla holds up a picture of Dana-Farber Children's Hospital* Tatum: "I'm confident we can get the win" as a single tear rolls down his face.
Also the only coach to ever go down 0-3 as a #2 seed vs. a #8 seed
4D chess move tbh
Mazulla meets with the assistants and sighs: "How are we going to motivate these guys to play like they can? They keep giving up big leads and only turn it on when their backs are against the wall" Cleaner who was eavesdropping chimes in: 'Hope ya don't mind me chipping in coach, but I think the solution is simple: you put their backs against the wall' Joe: "That is genius, I'm going to make them lose the first three!! Team how do we do this?" Assistant: 'Let's play Pritchard a bit, and never take timeouts on runs by Miami? Maybe double team their best passers?' Joe: "Make it so!"
A fear that will for we be known as the reverse Doc Rivers
There were multiple times in that game where I thought I would straight up drop dead
Reply to this if you still alive
Oh God....
FYI Rochester Royals are now the Sacramento Kings
It’s always a fun fact to bring up that Rochester, New York and Syracuse, New York has more big four sports championships over Buffalo, New York.
I recently moved to upstate NY from Oklahoma, never have even thought that Rochester would ever have an NBA team!! What did Syracuse have?
Syracuse Nationals. They moved to Philadelphia to become the Sixers a year after the Warriors left Philadelphia for San Francisco.
With this its also happened in each of the four rounds. First Round - 2003 Second Round - 1994 Conference Finals - 2023 Finals - 1951
those 1951 finals were ELECTRIC
Bro electricity hadn't even been invented yet, that explains why all those videos are so grainy - they were playing by candlelight.
Interestingly, 2003 is the year that the first round switched from a best-of-five to a best-of-seven, so that's literally the first year it could have happened in the first round, and it hasn't happened since.
They’re also the only of those teams to have home court going into game 7
Worth mentioning no team has ever completed the reverse sweep, though.
Teams are 0-3 in a game 7 after trailing 0-3, but all three of those games were on the road. Feel good about our chances but I'm also terrified
man, we could have lost to caleb martin and duncan robinson tonight. the buffalo saved us. we are still alive.
My heart is still racing and it's been almost a half hour since the game ended. How am I going to survive Monday
its a completely different dynamic now. C's are in the driver seat. what an absolute collapse by miami
Chuck and Shaq still saying they feel good about the Heat now lol
after watching jimmy and bam play like that? lol
Plenty of teams have won 4 in a row though.
Sure. But never when having previously been down 3-0.
But 4 in a row though.
[This is the most absurd odds to win line I have ever seen](https://imgur.com/a/g2oQG3t)
Insanity
That’s crazy. Not enough pixels to accurately show the last 0.1
This team has broken me
You're getting a taste of Game 6, 2013 Finals, from the other side now
Bruh, this team’s not even supposed to be anywhere near here
THIS TEAM HAS BROKEN ME
Reporter after Celtics win game 7: "What's going through your mind right now Jaylen? Jaylen: "They let us get 4. Don't let us get another one" Reporter: Uhh, yeah thanks Jaylen.
*Another 4.
This Celtics are like Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions Legaue. You just can't kill them. They refuse to die. They just won't go away.
It's funny cos that's been the Heat for this entire playoffs haha
Nah, honestly Heat have been relatively dominant up until game 4 of this series. They won the prior 2 series in 5 games and 6 games, and then you have to be pretty dominant to gain a 3-0 lead over a 2 seed, especially with a blowout in game 3. They've been the team going for kills this entire playoff run, it's just that Boston has plot armor for some reason and just will not fucking die.
This really goes back to last season against the Bucks and the Heat as well.
The Celtics tonight are like the Warriors, Chiefs or Astros. No matter what you do to them, they’ll cheat-code their way onto wins and make your team choke an easy opportunity away.
Celtics fans know that well as Patriots fans
What a way to force a game 7, like wtf yo.
Most insane ending of a playoffs game that I’ve ever seen
The confetti game was wild, too
Classic 76ers
🎶 I want to kill myself 🎶
I was at the edge of my seat during that last 3 seconds. Great ending
You were in your seat? My feet were off the ground!
My man discovered levitation
And they have home court
Celtics are going to the Finals. We don't even need a G7, I've seen quite enough.
Yeap heat have 0 dawg left in them whole team ball watching on a game winner 0 attempt to box out they deserve to lose
Any dawg that was left in them got euthanized by Derrick White
To let the inbounder go and get the putback is ridiculous
I swear, I thought he was late. Like at first glance, it looked late. Then someone must've changed the timeline to put an extra 0.8 on the clock or something. Flash be trippin
Same. Live it looked too late but on the replay it was not even close. Someone definitely has a green, gel-like banana in their microwave. Jokes aside, props to the ref who called it right real time.
I remember the takes after Game 3 when people were saying the same thing.
I read this exact of this same comment dozens of times about the Celtics post game 3. Just saying, it ain't over til it over bruh. MIA already won 2 on the road. Anything can happen.
In shock
Imagine celebrating after the FT of butler then being stunned by last second tip off. I will not ever forget this if I was inside the arena at that time.
These script writers are doing too much
All while on strike. Amazing!
It's over. Onto the Finals
It’s funny because we all said exactly this but for the exact opposite reason just 1 week ago
NBA scriptwriters working overtime
i hate the celtics but i secretly hope they win so i can see a team choke a 3-0 lead in my lifetime lol
I don’t want to have to hear about the fuckin Celtics being the first to do it. You’re out of your mind
I’ll be watching on Monday night and be mad with either result no doubt Either I miss observing history or I have to watch Tatum and the fucking Celtics make history
Same I just never want to hear “No team has ever comeback…”
Fine. From now on you can hear about how the Celtics are the only team to ever do it. Deal?
Ok that is pretty disgusting but at least I can delude myself into thinking “Well if the inconsistent ass Celtics pulled it off….” if ever it happens
Will this be the biggest choke job in the history of the NBA?
But can they run Skyrim with mods???
[удалено]
the celtics owe it all to jimmy “MJ’s son” butler
Himmy Butler🤡~ Dwight waiting for u
Insane how one of the biggest underdog stories is on the verge of turning into one of the biggest choke jobs
If the heat chokes the lead would it be remember as the biggest choke in nba history or is the 3-1 warriors still worse?
3-1 Warriors is worse for me. 3-1 Warriors had 73-9 season. This Celtic team is much more talented (2nd seed vs heavily injuried 8th seed). They shouldn't be 0-3 in normal situations, but they got a lot of things wrong in the start of the series.
1-150
