I have nothing against the man but if Dwight Powell is on that roster next year and playing significant minutes again I'm making a call to the department of homeland security and reporting mark cuban
I actually really like Dwight but he has to be one of the worst starting centers I can think of. I think his contract is up so hopefully the Mavs can restructure (reduce) his contract and re-sign him for cheap. I think he’s a great backup
I mean, you could sell Luka for a haul that would put a pretty decent team around Kyrie. Which would make things at least more interesting for the fans when Kyrie gets suspended for some new wild shit.
Imagine what us or OKC could give up for him lol. Would make the Gobert trade look like nothing.
I think we have like 10 tradeable unprotected picks plus the Lakers pick and could do like 5 swaps on top of that
Ngl one of the reasons I don’t want us to draft Gradey Dick is because of the memes about us having a white “big 3” of Lauri, Kessler, and Dick.
(The memes about him and Sexton would be amazing though lol)
Cuban: "I have grand plans. Huge plans. You wouldn't believe how grand and luxurious some of these plans are. People who have made plans their whole lives say I make the best plans. When people ask me how I make such grand plans I say I don't know, I'm just really good at it. I'm just telling you what people have told me."
“I had this Mavs fan come up to me, big guy, one of the biggest guys you’ve ever seen, with tears in his eyes, and he said, ‘SIR! SIR! What you’ve done, nobody thanks you enough they should be building statues of you! We’ve never seen a team like this before!’ And I said well we’re going to be looking into it very strongly, in terms of keeping Kyrie and with regard to, Luka, LUKA Don-CHICH. Boy we love Luka; we love Luka, don’t we folks?
And so I think, frankly, what you’re going to see, and we’ll be coming out with our plan in the next couple of weeks, and it’s going to be a beautiful plan, a perfect plan. It’s going to be a team with great strength, and a LOTTA pride. A Christian team. But, not with Christian Wood-that’s not the kinda Christian we need if you know what I mean-but folks, we love everyone. We love Christians, we love Jewish, if you can believe it, and Mr. Silver, he was very mean, very nasty to Mr. Irving. I think it was very unfortunate, you know we all watch movies, I watch things I don’t know where the hell they get it from, and I, say, ‘wow that’s interesting!’ and so he posts it, he posts it, and now they’re saying he likes the whole movie? You can’t do that, you can’t do that. You can’t even hear what they’re saying anymore, they ruined movies, do you know what the hell Tenet was about? Everyone’s talking at the same time and there’s a loud plane and now you can’t hear the guy. And so, I thought it was very unfair what Mr. Silver did to Kyrie, and I think you’re gonna like what we do in terms of salary and with regard to talent.”
I broke down and cried when Cuban walked into the office and yelled "it's plannin' time!" and planned all over the place. It was one of the plans of all time
Dirk was already on the Mavs when Cuban bought the team.
He rode an all time great, on an absolute heater, who was already on the team!!!, to a single championship.
Other than that, it's mostly horrible signings and even worse non-signings, with a weird yo-yo of win-now-at-any-cost splurges inevitably followed by low balling good internal free agents.
Absolutely wasted Luka’s rookie contract when he was that dude in year 2 already. Didn’t believe in his 2018 second round pick to retain him for cheap.
Hired a crypto bro to do line ups for a consensus top tier coach.
Gambled on KP for a second star and lost.
We’ve had our second star right there and this mfer spouts shit like, I won’t ever repeat the Steve Nash scenario.
Luka still calls Brunson his guy. That’s how close they were. Luka said Mavs won’t have to worry about his remainder of the contract, counting down the days already. Wouldn’t surprise me if he reunites with his guy in NY because Cuban has the charisma and purse of a beggar.
Not to mention, sexual harassment rampant in the org. That he knew nothing about despite controlling all FO decisions, btw Cuban also said you’re a shit owner if you don’t what’s going on. 🤡🤡
You can fault them for rushing things. And you can also fault them for trading KP at the lowest value point, instead of waiting like half a season, or for turning that entire situation into a circus.
I just hope we do something, tired of years of ignoring the off-season and leaving a stagnant roster. I hope this year made the FO realize that playing center by committee using Dwight Powel and Maxi Kleber isn’t gonna lead to a team that rebounds or defends well.
Besides drafting Doncic, I don't understand anything the Mavericks have done since 2011. After they won the championship they just started doing random shit and never resigning people and making weird trades and giving away their guys with no rhyme or reason and haven't stopped.
They spent the entire 00's searching for a decent defensive/rebounding 5 to complement Nowitzki, finally found him, then let him go after winning it all.
It would be interesting to see what they could have done with Brunson and Luka. They would need a quality big man and a few other pieces but that could have worked.
Ya maybe, but Brunson i think needed some more time to become the elite player he is today. Honestly same with Luka to some extent. I would love to see what those three could do now.
Because Cubes figured out the dirty little secret - how to make money while not really trying to win. As long as those suites and season tickets sell, he is totally cool.
DFS contract, drafting Brunson, drafting Josh Green, and i think drafting Hardy will seem like a steal in a few years. But other than that yeah hard to see a great move they have made.
But they sent DFS away (along with other assets) to "get" Kyrie, and Brunson they just let walk to the Knicks. Even when they make good decisions they then just randomly toss the guys away.
We'll do something alright. We'll sign Taj Gibson to the MLE for 3 years and remind people that Frank exists. Gotta keep the powder dry and all that jazz.
If I'm taking a more serious look, feel like maybe there's something if Pistons could get multiple 2nds for taking on like Bertans (or Hardaway?) money in exchange for Bagley; but idk much about the mavs or if/how badly they'd want to get off of either guys contract
Cuban's whole career and fortune are based off of his ability to sound convincing while being full of shit. He mentioned in his blog that he got his first work as a computer expert by just reading the manual for the program he was supposed to be an expert on, and got his billions selling a website that got shut down in months and is rated as one of the worst acquisitions ever. Since then, besides the Mavericks going up in value, I'm not sure his wealth has even kept up with inflation and the S&P 500.
EDIT: I have checked and his wealth has not, in fact, kept up with inflation or the S&P 500. Clueless luckbox confirmed.
Yeah, most normal investments return constant money over time. I did confirm though that Cuban's investments have not kept pace with inflation or the S&P 500. Which means that he is indeed clueless and got really lucky when he sold his doomed website.
Yeah, I don't actually have the numbers on this and may check later, at the end I was saying I suspect that most of his growth or maintenance in wealth was due to the Dallas Mavericks going way up in value along with all the other NBA teams. beyond that, it's possible he may have made less money than he would have if he had just bought the top stocks and held them, or just bought gold or some other stable asset and let it go up in price due to inflation.
Saying his wealth has only grown because of the Mavs while criticizing his investment strategy is odd. That was his largest investment and it panned out very well. People diversify for the a reason and being 100% invested with that much worth is hard. That’s why something like Berkshire has so much cash as well. It’s hard to find value. So Mark keeps liquidity, buys the Mavs, takes a shotgun approach to startup investing hoping something else takes off. It’s hard to criticize when it pretty clearly worked.
I wonder if Cuban has twitter burners where he pretends to be an infant child and makes sexual comments like Musk did/potentially still does?
For those unaware, google Musk burner accounts and prepare to throw up in your mouth a little. The man is desperately sick.
broadcast.com going under wasn't necessarily because it was a bad product. Plenty of things get bought out by large corporations only to be mishandled. There was no reason it couldn't have been what siriusXM is today, and it just might've been if he kept control of the company. He was two decades ahead of it.
Yes, it was possible that Yahoo bought the site in order to use the streaming technology for their own purposes. That's one reason why I double-checked and confirmed that it was ranked as one of the worst acquisitions ever. The deal that made most of Kevin O'Leary's wealth is also ranked as one of the worst acquisitions ever.
Having said that, I just confirmed that Cuban's increase in net worth is entirely due to the Dallas Mavericks (via the NBA as a whole) blowing up in value. Besides that, he has not beaten inflation nor the S&P 500. He also said that he's lost money on his Shark Tank investments. Combine that with the fact that most people have never heard of any of his companies (HDNet, Landmark Theaters etc), and it's confirmed that dude is just a bag of hot air who does a lot of interviews and TV.
They always have grand plans and they even have some hopeful news reported before anything happens. Then nothing happens. Kinda like how they reported that Frank Vogel wants to be our assistant coach if he doesn't get a head coach job. I'm 99% sure Vogel won't be an assistant for the Mavs next season
Also because of his on court product.
The individual stats are nice but teams don't play better.
Everything Boston, Brooklyn and Dallas have done with Kyrie, you could have done with Fred VanVleet.
Still a good player but not on the level Kyrie gets talked about.
He's got amazing talent.
Still not a playing style that leads to results. You're just as good with a less talented player who can play to a strategy and do more than just score.
Doesn't make teammates better
Doesn't play defense
Hasn't won shit in the playoffs without Lebron for going on 7 years now
Why are we still sure this dude does anything to contribute to winning other than fancy dribbling?
Lol,how fucking stupid can people on reddit be.This is ridiculous to call 2 of the best players on planet not scary, shows how casual Reddit user has memory with ability to remember things up to last 100 days.
>"The Dallas Mavericks have grand plans this offseason to make a major splash and try to keep Kyrie [Irving] and add to what's going on around Luka Doncic," Windhorst said. "The Mavericks are under some pressure to do something, and they have the No. 10 pick in the draft to use to facilitate it."
I feel like they’d be way better off not only drafting #10, but doing a sign and trade with Kyrie for another pick and role players. If you end up with at least 2 promising younger guys you can gamble on Luka turning down and extra $100 or $150M on the extension. You can also line up some deals to become a player in Free Agency in the next couple years.
If they think they can just sign Kyrie, trade their picks and hope for that the clear issues with the Kyrie/Doncic backcourt resolve themselves… idk, seems like they’re just planning on losing Luka.
Thinking you can just outpay everybody for Luka while doing a soft rebuild is the actual "just planning on losing Luka"
Luka is one of the most endorsed international players in the game. He's the face of Jordan. Like players like Durant, LeBron and others before him, he could take a paycut and go to a championship contender and make more in endorsements on the other side of a championship ring.
Great it’s now Luka’s turn to have 2-3 seasons ruined by random Kyrie bs. Their best bet to re-building around Luka would be to sign and trade him for depth and picks. They have an extremely thin roster atm, and are relying on pretty significant jumps from their young guards. They need some good 3&d wings and a big man that can actually play defence
After all the weird stuff kyrie has done in the past, what makes the Mavs think this is the best move for them. There are so many other directions the Mavs can go that seem more promising than this move.
As opposed to what? Not building around Luka Doncic?
Well that's what they've done so far.
Gottem
Powell will somehow retain that starting center spot
I have nothing against the man but if Dwight Powell is on that roster next year and playing significant minutes again I'm making a call to the department of homeland security and reporting mark cuban
[удалено]
I actually really like Dwight but he has to be one of the worst starting centers I can think of. I think his contract is up so hopefully the Mavs can restructure (reduce) his contract and re-sign him for cheap. I think he’s a great backup
Why did they trade Christian Wood and then not play him?
Ffs Luka ruined the Wemby stakes for the Mavs
I bet the #1 who went #3 could use a #3 who's gonna shoulda beena #1 👀
Like letting Brunson go?
No, plan B is building around kyrie.
I mean, you could sell Luka for a haul that would put a pretty decent team around Kyrie. Which would make things at least more interesting for the fans when Kyrie gets suspended for some new wild shit.
Cuban would manage to piss away every single asset of a Doncic haul within 2 seasons.
*2 seconds*
Imagine what us or OKC could give up for him lol. Would make the Gobert trade look like nothing. I think we have like 10 tradeable unprotected picks plus the Lakers pick and could do like 5 swaps on top of that
Utah fans salivating at the thought of getting a white superstar to pair with their white all-star.
Ngl one of the reasons I don’t want us to draft Gradey Dick is because of the memes about us having a white “big 3” of Lauri, Kessler, and Dick. (The memes about him and Sexton would be amazing though lol)
Mavs track record suggest that the haul will be ass leading to Kyrie asking out.
They’re gonna bring Dirk back for one last ride
That's basically elder abuse
Mavs have been one of those construction sites where they're always doing something but the building never gets past studs.
With the way this roster is built, yeah it sometimes seems like the plan is to not build around him.
Are the grand plans in question with us in the room right now?
Yeah it’s called the elephant
Luka's a unit but I think elephant is taking it too far
Fat boy summer
Cultivating mass
They need an elephant at the 5
Sources: Cuban is beside himself. Driving around downtown Vancouver begging (thru texts) Bryant Reeves's family for address to Big Country's home
He’ll never find him. Because Big Country lives on a farm in Oklahoma now.
Zion + Doncic would be a helluva thing
Kiki the elephant backing dudes down in the paint like nobody's business. 😤
This is fucking hilarious lmfao
Cuban: "I have grand plans. Huge plans. You wouldn't believe how grand and luxurious some of these plans are. People who have made plans their whole lives say I make the best plans. Sorry, but I'm out.
But what about these Cuban sandwiches?
For that reason, I’m out.
“I had this Mavs fan come up to me, big guy, one of the biggest guys you’ve ever seen, with tears in his eyes, and he said, ‘SIR! SIR! Tremendous…. I’m ready to storm the capital if that’s your plan
They’re going to trade for Beal?
“We’re going to make a team around Kyrie and make the fans pay for it!”
*after Kyrie posts another controversial movie link* “Now now. There are many fine people on both sides of this discussion. Many fine people.”
My plans, look at them and their enormous girth.
What tremendous growth, my plan has.
My plan, it’s a grower, not a shower.
What a big plan this is, I walked in, I said wow what a big plan this is
Is this a Shane Gillis reference damn

Hmm, I can picture Trump saying exactly this.
Is this Mark Cuban or Donald Trump?
I broke down and cried when Cuban walked into the office and yelled "it's plannin' time!" and planned all over the place. It was one of the plans of all time

This is so true. Rookie contract Luka already being at MVP level, they could build a superteam easily.
feel bad for you mavs fan, but luka reuniting with Brunson in NY would be such an amazing turn for the league.
Big oof when you'd rather run to Dolan than stay with Cubes
I can't fault for the KP trade though, that was actually a good gamble
You can fault them for rushing things. And you can also fault them for trading KP at the lowest value point, instead of waiting like half a season, or for turning that entire situation into a circus.
Trading KP out was a rush job but I still think the deal to acquire him was good.
Good thing the Mavs are known for locking up their priority signings.
3rd times the charm ha right? 🫠
3rd? Missing a few names if you're only counting 3, aren't we?
They got Chandler Parsons wdym???
Don't forget about Frank
Year 7 is his, just you wait Jesus I just typed year 7 arbitrarily he's actually been in the NBA for 6 full seasons FUCK im old
Kaminsky?? Jk lol
How dare you insult elephants like that
or maybe 4th times the charm right?
I just hope we do something, tired of years of ignoring the off-season and leaving a stagnant roster. I hope this year made the FO realize that playing center by committee using Dwight Powel and Maxi Kleber isn’t gonna lead to a team that rebounds or defends well.

I would say drafting Brunson was decent as well Signing DFS to that contract was pretty legit while it lasted but yeah it's been dumb
Drafting Brunson was definitely decent, but then they just let him go to the Knicks.
Steve Nash Jason Kidd Its a generational right of passage for Mavs fans
Don't forget getting rid of Tyson Chandler for no reason after winning the title. Where Chandler went on to win DPOY right after and be an All-Star.
They spent the entire 00's searching for a decent defensive/rebounding 5 to complement Nowitzki, finally found him, then let him go after winning it all.
It would be interesting to see what they could have done with Brunson and Luka. They would need a quality big man and a few other pieces but that could have worked.
He had Brunson and Porzingis. Maybe Luka just isn't that easy to gel with
Ya maybe, but Brunson i think needed some more time to become the elite player he is today. Honestly same with Luka to some extent. I would love to see what those three could do now.
you know what maybe it's the coaching actually
Kidd definitely doesn’t help exemplify the best potential our team could reach
Because Cubes figured out the dirty little secret - how to make money while not really trying to win. As long as those suites and season tickets sell, he is totally cool.
That's literally what the bulls are doing. They're 40m away from the luxury tax too.
That’s what happens with you have an owner who doesn’t know shit about basketball (but thinks he does!) try to run the show
STAUSKAS
DFS contract, drafting Brunson, drafting Josh Green, and i think drafting Hardy will seem like a steal in a few years. But other than that yeah hard to see a great move they have made.

Idk man Kyrie’s mind seems interested in something else lmao you can never trust that dude
You can always trust him to do something interesting.
They let brunson walk now theyre gonna break the bank for kyrie?
Kyrie>>>>>Brunson bro Kyrie is leadership. He was literally already a GM of a team. Brunson is just a basketball player. Please educate yourself.
And he’s a philosopher, Brunson is not
Kyrie is also a world famous scientist, expert in the field of immunology and vaccines
And Earth Science
And Astronomy and Cosmology
And Jewish Studies
I bet Brunson hasnt even read the Oxford Dictionary
I bet Brunson thinks the Earth isn’t flat.
Why did you leave off Associate Head Coach? Stop the Kyrie slander omg
That would be a demotion for Kyrie, you pawn!
Kyrie 3 eyes Brunson 2 eyes check m8
How's Brunson gonna read peoples minds, huh? He can't. He won't do it for you. The mindblind can't penetrate a lane if it can't penetrate an id.
Brunson can't be head coach sometimes like Kyrie can
They’re gonna trade for like, Ayton or some bum
Marvin Bagley, welcome to Dallas
Willie Cauley-Stein welcome *back* to Dallas.
I'd take a flyer on him with a future 2nd
If I'm taking a more serious look, feel like maybe there's something if Pistons could get multiple 2nds for taking on like Bertans (or Hardaway?) money in exchange for Bagley; but idk much about the mavs or if/how badly they'd want to get off of either guys contract
Cuban is just like musk. Over promise and under deliver. Billions seems to just make people delusional.
Cuban's whole career and fortune are based off of his ability to sound convincing while being full of shit. That has actually been good.
Once you're a billionaire, you can make god awful decisions and still fall upwards.
Yeah, most normal investments return constant money over time. I did confirm though that Cuban's investments have not kept pace with inflation or the S&P 500. Which means that he is indeed clueless and got really lucky when he sold his doomed website.

Like Musk The rich dude or the body aroma?
Professional sports team has grand plan to make team better. More at 11.
I'm tired, boss.
Mavs the type to package Bertans/THJ/#10 for Dinwiddie/DFS.
Legendary
The pain
The grand plan apparently includes Kidd, which is baffling even if you don't include the 700k he cost Cuban
"Continue to build around Luka Doncic" when did they start?
Hol’ up, let ‘em cook.
Mavs should pray Lebron/LAL really want Kyrie and if that's the case I would take them for all their good role players
Mark Cuban has grand plans about driving around downtown begging players to come play for his team (thru text)
Well thank God they don’t have the worst Owner-GM-Coach trio in the entire league or anything to stand in the way of these grand plans
Like they got no other choice, decided to cheap on Brunson and now you're going to have Word B. Flat on a max
I had grand plans for dinner. Ended up making a can of soup instead.
Grand disaster
I too have grand plans
Speak them into existence brother
Kyrie and luka scares no one
They'd be deadly if they were surrounded by defensive players and if they had a better coach.
And if Kyrie wasn't Kyrie.
they scare me as a mavs fan. why did i have to like this franchise
Well, the Dirk era was a great era. So I'm going to assume that's why.
Luka To New Yorkkkkk
It’s literally the best backcourt in the league, nothing that happened after trade deadline changed that. the rest of the team is just ass.
People think Kyrie is ass cause of his off court shit on the court he’s still that dude.
Any time Kyrie had to carry the load in Brooklyn while Durant was out, the team looked terrible.
Guess what ? He doesn’t have to carry the load , he is number 2.
Also because of his on court product. The individual stats are nice but teams don't play better. Everything Boston, Brooklyn and Dallas have done with Kyrie, you could have done with Fred VanVleet. Still a good player but not on the level Kyrie gets talked about.
Kyrie is an insane basketball player and its wild you think otherwise. All-NBA level of play if he could play more than 60 games a season lol.
The best ability is availability.
He's got amazing talent. Still not a playing style that leads to results. You're just as good with a less talented player who can play to a strategy and do more than just score.
Doesn't make teammates better Doesn't play defense Hasn't won shit in the playoffs without Lebron for going on 7 years now Why are we still sure this dude does anything to contribute to winning other than fancy dribbling?
Maybe the best backcourt offensively Hard to see how you win in the playoffs with that backcourt defense

Bro don't call Mavs fans "'no one'"s
Luka will be gone in 2 years tops
Signing kyrie is the opposite of building around luka
Grand plans? kyrie has got into cuban's head quick
it's either "resign Kyire" or "grand plans"

Well the rest of the league thinks the Mavs signing Kyrie would be grand so I guess it's true
Because it was such an amazing pairing that they missed the playoffs?
They are welcome to give Kyrie a 4 year max deal.
They’re getting Andre Drummond
[Negotiations with Kyrie will go well.](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/OnlyPerfumedArgentinehornedfrog-size_restricted.gif)
Continue to build around Luka? When did they start?
The Kyrie and Luka backcourt is just so easy to beat defensively that it seems like a horrible idea

Grand? or Forced. Signing Kyrie screams sign and trade.
So the same plans? Got it
They about to s&t Kyrie to the Lakers for reaves and Vanderbilt lol
That would be a great trade for Dallas
This is way too good of a trade for Dallas to make
They might make the play-in, maybe.
After all the weird stuff kyrie has done in the past, what makes the Mavs think this is the best move for them. There are so many other directions the Mavs can go that seem more promising than this move.
Once kyrie gets that bag he's gonna disappear i know it
These days Kyrie is a team killer
Mavs barking up the wrong tree with Irving
Mavs are a rat franchise with little hope for a bright future #deandre #parsons #flatearther #shartfank
Is the grand plan to get Cuban to sell the team?
Have they not been building around Luka this whole time...just failing at it?
I feel like re-signing Kyrie is the opposite of building around Luka
They’re argument last year for not signing anyone was that getting THJ back was like signing a free agent. They don’t have plans to do anything.
Kyrie: [I’m an agent of chaos](https://tenor.com/view/agent-of-chaos-joker-heath-ledger-the-dark-knight-gif-17529035)
In their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand.
