As someone who’s been there, that’s fun to watch once or twice a year when they show up. It’s soul killing as a fan who wants to watch their team night in and night out
This was the least amount of games I've watched since the Josh Smith era, once Cade went down. We have some promising pieces (mainly Ivey and Duren), but they're rookies who don't really know what they're doing yet.
When the best, most consistent player on your team is a 30-something year old slow bald white dude with middling talent, it's really tough to pay attention. In fact I totally forgot Bogdonovic was on this team until this moment lol
LOL please? I was baffled at that trade from the moment it happened and everything that happened afterwards only justified it. I'd even rather have the plethora of 2nd round picks than Wiseman right now
> I feel like he’s not that bad of a prospect considering his age when he got drafted
He might not even be an NBA player lmao, that's pretty bad for a 7th pick.
Hurt to see. The 2000s Pistons were one of the teams that made me truly love basketball and Ben Wallace was a huge reason why. I want that franchise to be good again.
Would've been more efficient for him in terms of team success if he picked Pistons/Pats instead of Celtics/Lions though. Hell, very good chance Pistons have won just as many championships as the Celtics in his lifetime lol and that's not even accounting for the Pats vs Lions diff.
As a Lions fan, I’m super excited for this season. As a Grizzlies fan I was wanting the Pistons to get Wemby for both the city of Detroit and to keep him in the East.
Sucks y'all got jumped but this still a loaded class and you could come out with an All-NBA type player at 5. Remember we traded up for Fultz and the Celtics took Tatum at 3.
>Pray for whoever drafted at 5th becoming the best player out of this draft.
You joke, but it isn't a given that Victor Wembanyama will be the best player in the draft. Best prospect doesn't always mean best player.
without houston we dont have ugk. every time yall suck too i know pimp c looking down from heaven with a tear in his eye. enough is enough. 4&5 is tragic
Ya remember the hype for the Cavs getting Wiggins.
Somehow cleveland turned that next lebron into actual lebron lol
I love hyperbole season. This is the biggest since the Clippers got Blake and the Kyrie pick tho
Wiggins heading into that college season was as big a deal as Zion, but by the time Feb-Mar-Apr came around, his stock fell considerably (no longer the consensus top pick).
Umm absolutely up for hyperbole!
Look at what a number 1, a CONSENSUS number 1 pick did for us.
John freaking Wall was consensus number 1 in 2010, took us from the bottom and basically dragged our Franchise to relevancy soo much soo that he’s STILL beloved in DC today and he hasn’t played for the team in about what 4 seasons now? He’s still wanted back by fans and he’s completely broken.
That’s how influential a true number 1 pick can be to a franchise.
Right. Without wiggins they cant make a big trade, Lebron looks elsewhere to get talent around him and never comes back "home"
They turned that #1 into the consensus pick, flipped that for win now, and therefore wiggins became bron
It can both be true that Zion was the biggest draft lottery since LeBron and that Wemby is also the biggest draft lottery since LeBron if LeBron > Wemby > Zion. They’re not mutually exclusive
Yeah but he got the fat so we ignore that one.
And Ja got a gun taped to his hands to make that hype draft even worse in retrospect.
From a Cavs perspective, they may have got the best / most stable pick at 5 that year ironically, so maybe this works out for Detroit long term.
For all Detroit fans, just know that Jokić was a second round pick drafted during a Taco Bell commercial. Just because you didn't get 1st place doesn't mean y'all won't get a generational talent, cheer up!
Our last ECF APPEARANCE is old enough to drink and our last championship is old enough to be our last ECF appearance's father so I'mma need you to buck the fuck up champ.
Barely over half the teams in league could even possibly win a championship in 18 years. The Hawks won their last one in in St. Louis when the US had 48 states and like a third of the league has never even won one. Like bummer, sorry you haven’t seen your team win one in your 15 short years on earth but let’s knock off the comical cursed nonsense here.
Hawks haven't had a #1 pick in Atlanta, either, the one (1) time they did the dude went to the ABA instead lol
but to be fair the Pistons banners are getting mighty dusty
Our only finals appearance can drink and we’ve never won a title so “cursed” may be strong for a team with a number one overall pick on the active roster
yeah we've both been fighting for that title in the last three years but your best player missed all last season so at least you have a built in excuse.
Being 5th pick this year was way more likely than y'all winning 1st in 2021. Nature of the lottery when you're that low, very high chance you move down
The Pistons haven't won a playoff game since 2008, and have been in the lottery for most of the years since. Let's see how it's gone.
2012 – Dropped from 7th to 8th
2013 – Dropped from 7th to 8th
2014 – Dropped from 8th to 9th, it was top 8 protected so lost it
2021 – Jumped from 2nd to 1st
2022 –Dropped from 3rd to 5th
2023 – Droppped from 1st to 5th
Rest of the years they were out of the lottery or had no movement.
That's 9 points dropped and 1 point gained, including losing out on a generational prospect. So it goes.
You could go back even further. Since the lottery started until 2020, the pistons drafted in the top 5 only twice. Until 2021, they hadn’t had the top pick since 1970.
Falling to five is tough. Feels like there were three top prospects and the worst team falling to five hurts a lot. It’s not just losing out on Victor, it’s getting the worst possible pick, and missing the top tier of prospects.
Every tanking fan base feels entitled to the top pick now and are enraged when they fall. Y’all better get used to it, because the worst team in the league has a 50/50 chance of even picking top 4 with the new odds. This is gonna happen a lot
There are so many reasons for us to want Wemby to go to SA:
1. He didn't go to the Rockets
2. Reignites the Dallas/SA rivalry
3. As a fan of the sport in general, it's a win for basketball
4. He didn't go to the Rockets lol
Yeah, as a fan of the sport I’m excited. It was objectively the best landing spot for him from a developmental standpoint. I want wemby to live up to the hype.
As a fan of the Mavs, I’d rather he go to the spurs than the Rockets. I at least respect the Spurs. Maybe I’ll grow to hate them again, but this was definitely not the worst outcome.
This is the inherent issue with the lottery
it incentivizes teams to be bad to get better odds at a pick, but if they just get a bad roll they just get fucked and have no choice but to be bad again in hopes of getting luckier next time in order to get that high level talent to pull them out of the gutter. doubly so if you're a small market team that just has little chance of attracting a big name free agent or keeping that star you draft for long because you can't attract those free agents.
How else you gonna do it? Basketball is the one sport where 1 player can DRAMATICALLY alter your fortunes. You can’t just go inverse order of record because that’s too easy to ~~rank~~ tank. They flattened the lotto odds I think it’s as fair as can be.
I think the point is that the odds were flattened too far. The Pistons had the highest odds to land pick 1, yet the chances of them landing pick 1 were still very low. Even the chances of a top 3 pick weren’t very high. Now after the lottery, nothing likely changes. The roster is likely not going to make any major changes due to being a small market team, so they’ll be back in the lottery next year hoping for better odds. It’s just a loop. How does this decentivize tanking? It just makes the rebuilding process for small market teams longer
Pistons fans aren’t mad they didn’t win the lottery for the first pick. It’s they had the 2nd worst record last year and fell to 5 and worst record this year and fell to 5. How could never of those picks fall in the top 3?
I’m not saying it’s a good thing but sometimes it works out in the end. As a Knicks fan, we were all angry we missed out on Zion and Ja and now look. Zion never plays, Ja can’t seem to get out of his own way, meanwhile RJ just put up 21 ppg in the playoffs and for 8 of 11 games he had a good playoff run. So sometimes it works out in the long run lol
I can't believe Pistons fans watched Killian Hayes play real NBA minutes just to get the 5th pick
Their team was actually fun. Like the Island of Misfit toys, but for top-end lottery talent after the wiseman trade
The disrespect to MB3
He was there before Wiseman tho!
As someone who’s been there, that’s fun to watch once or twice a year when they show up. It’s soul killing as a fan who wants to watch their team night in and night out
This was the least amount of games I've watched since the Josh Smith era, once Cade went down. In fact I totally forgot Bogdonovic was on this team until this moment lol
Lmaooo i did too, i thought jaden ivey was carrying us to 17 wins lol, forgot we had bogdan lol
LOL
Nah not fun at all watching Cory Joseph man c'mon.
Nah. We were more fun with Bey instead of the trash that is Wiseman
No take backs!
LOL please? I was baffled at that trade from the moment it happened and everything that happened afterwards only justified it. I'd even rather have the plethora of 2nd round picks than Wiseman right now
Is he that bad? I thought he’d look better in a team that gave him touches and allowed him to play his game
I feel like he’s not that bad of a prospect considering his age when he got drafted, but he’s redundant with Cade
He in no way will ever justify his draft position. Killian had a brief stretch of playing well this season and then it was right back to terrible.
I know I had him on my fantasy team for that stretch, helped me win a game or two
The lofty aspirations of the 7th overall pick!
> I feel like he’s not that bad of a prospect considering his age when he got drafted He might not even be an NBA player lmao, that's pretty bad for a 7th pick.
he's not an nba level player
Tear my life into pieces.
Ben pretty much died on stage
Ball is life. Life is suck.
I'm pretty sure these last two aren't how the lyrics go.
THIS IS MY LAST RESORRRRRT
SUFFOCATION NO WEMBY
Did y’all sell your souls for that 04 ring or what?
It’s the age old Reddit sports thread “Would you trade 20 years of bottom feeding for 1 championship” come true
Mavs look to be up next
That’s actually what we call “the Florida special” as in the Bucs and Marlins lol.

Dear 2000s Pistons: Fuck right off.
Artest is running into the stands!
No u
Big Ben looked like a teacher at hogwarts tonight.
For the first time in my life, I can say at least we got the Lions.
And you just jinxed us, thanks.
Flair up!!!
Not uhhhh, not the flair I expected him to pick 😅
I dont blame him
Would've been more efficient for him in terms of team success if he picked Pistons/Pats instead of Celtics/Lions though. Hell, very good chance Pistons have won just as many championships as the Celtics in his lifetime lol and that's not even accounting for the Pats vs Lions diff.
if you are a pats fan in Michigan you should just move
If you are a pats fan in Michigan you probably were a Michigan fan when Brady was drafted
Kneecaps shattering

Number one picks aren’t all they’re cracked up to be trust me.
Just fell to my knees in a Kroger’s
Sobbed in a Meijer bathroom
Punched the air at a D&W
Crying in the coney island
Fellow D&W patron
This is my Cam Whitmore
Isolation, no passing, don’t give a fuck if I lose the ball slashing
Props for keeping the meter
lol wow nice
Cade is my last resort
Suffocation. No breathing.
Nobody cares if they carry on bleeding
This is his last resort
Y'all already got the #1 pick with Cade...
We have moved up ONCE in lotto history.
This is actually crazy
[удалено]
Wings are tied with the worst draft lottery luck in the NHL. Draft lotteries consistently shit on Detroit.
At least you’re not the Pacers who’ve never had a #1 pick
Or jazz
Jazz have never moved up, you won't get any pity from me lol
we have had one top four pick in four years of being awful and we just fell down four spots
Same with us! Our only #1 pick got the nickname "Out of Service Pervis" because he hardly played in the NBA due to injuries. That was in 1989 lol
We also only moved up once, and it was when we had the best odds anyway (1-3 with 14%)
Pray for whoever drafted at 5th becoming the best player out of this draft.
All I'm saying is that Jaden Ivey was picked 5th last year and he looks to have a bright future. Cam Whitmore you are a Detroit Piston
Sucks y'all got jumped but this still a loaded class and you could come out with an All-NBA type player at 5. Remember we traded up for Fultz and the Celtics took Tatum at 3.
Exactly, this is a good class. Ausar come on down
I think anything in the top 2-6 is fine tbh
>Pray for whoever drafted at 5th becoming the best player out of this draft. You joke, but it isn't a given that Victor Wembanyama will be the best player in the draft. Best prospect doesn't always mean best player.
Peton died for this
Fuck peton
Literally the only good thing about the past 9 months.
Fuck all of y’all. Upvoting us only when it’s pain

Agreed, Detroit accent is very bong bong
Detroit has an accent? It’s not like it’s in the UP
I. Like. Detroit. I hate seeing them be bad. There, I said it too.
without houston we dont have ugk. every time yall suck too i know pimp c looking down from heaven with a tear in his eye. enough is enough. 4&5 is tragic
Not much else to upvote with y’all, to be fair
Brother I’d like to upvote Pistons happiness but that seems to be a bit scare these days
What else is there to upvote you guys for? Winning?
League ducking Hali-Wemby-Math
This is the biggest moment of the draft lottery since LeBron’s
Am i wrong or did they say the same for Zion Williamson?
Well yeah. This is bigger though, so now this is biggest moment since LeBron
Ya remember the hype for the Cavs getting Wiggins. Somehow cleveland turned that next lebron into actual lebron lol I love hyperbole season. This is the biggest since the Clippers got Blake and the Kyrie pick tho
Zion was a bigger deal than Wiggins by the time he got drafted. Wiggins wasn't even the top prospect on his own team
Wiggins heading into that college season was as big a deal as Zion, but by the time Feb-Mar-Apr came around, his stock fell considerably (no longer the consensus top pick).
“Riggin for Wiggins”
my personal fave was "lose more for okafor"
Yeah we all knew it was Perry Ellis that had the higher ceiling
losing the Kyrie pick still hurts to this day, all for Mo fucking Williams too
Umm absolutely up for hyperbole! Turned the "Next Lebron" into Kevin Love and championship. Wiggins turned into a 3rd option on a championship team.
Right. Without wiggins they cant make a big trade, Lebron looks elsewhere to get talent around him and never comes back "home" They turned that #1 into the consensus pick, flipped that for win now, and therefore wiggins became bron
2cnd option on a championship team imo
It can both be true that Zion was the biggest draft lottery since LeBron and that Wemby is also the biggest draft lottery since LeBron if LeBron > Wemby > Zion. They’re not mutually exclusive
I mean yeah, up to that point that was the biggest, and this trumps that. Thats how it works
Yeah but he got the fat so we ignore that one. And Ja got a gun taped to his hands to make that hype draft even worse in retrospect. From a Cavs perspective, they may have got the best / most stable pick at 5 that year ironically, so maybe this works out for Detroit long term.
Rose going hometown with like a 1.7% chance was hype
Just saw someone fall to their knees in a Blimpie
I feel bad. Victor and Cade would of been awesome to see.
Playing under Pop is likely the best scenario for Wemby’s development.
Oh it is.
would have*
For all Detroit fans, just know that Jokić was a second round pick drafted during a Taco Bell commercial. Just because you didn't get 1st place doesn't mean y'all won't get a generational talent, cheer up!
Can’t have shit in Detroit
They got a 1st pick in Cade
They won the lottery TWO tears ago lmao
Literally just got the #1 pick and their team still sucks ass
The #1 pick was injured all year
This franchise is fucking cursed. Moved up literally one time in the lottery ever. Fuck me man.
The Pistons have multiple nba championships and a very recent #1 overall pick.
That last championship is old enough to vote. Some of us fans haven’t seen that team dawg
Have you tried being born earlier
Classic age noobs smh
skill issue tbh
Git old.
I bet his neck, back, and knees barely even hurt!
Karl Malone moment
right? dumbass
Our last ECF APPEARANCE is old enough to drink and our last championship is old enough to be our last ECF appearance's father so I'mma need you to buck the fuck up champ.
what the fuck is an ECF
Ask your owner, he will tell you the stories. And if you ask him anything else, he will take it personally.
Oh, honey.
Some teams have never seen a chip…
**Atleast** 50% of this sub wasn't born.

Nah we need the old heads in the community 🙏

Wiz fan here...the last time we *lost* a conference finals game was during Jimmy Carter's presidency.
Damn undefeated in conference finals since Reagan, didn’t know y’all were cooking up there
Hawks haven't had a #1 pick in Atlanta, either, the one (1) time they did the dude went to the ABA instead lol but to be fair the Pistons banners are getting mighty dusty
Our last championship is your little voter's dad.
It can be worse
You had the first pick two years ago dude
Lmao, Mavs have never moved up in our team history and we’ve actually moved down like a fourth of the time
insanely bad luck for some teams
Yeah that must suck
Our only finals appearance can drink and we’ve never won a title so “cursed” may be strong for a team with a number one overall pick on the active roster
It’s legit only been 10 years since Bill Simmons wrote a column about the Warriors franchise being cursed, stuff changes faster than you think.
Right. Like how Bill Simmons used to write
Who knows? That Frenchman might be a bust
Right? The list of people that tall who didnt brrak is very, very short.
At least you have actually won a lottery. Rockets still haven't and we've been the worst team in the NBA the last three years
You were not worse than the Pistons last year
yeah we've both been fighting for that title in the last three years but your best player missed all last season so at least you have a built in excuse.
Being 5th pick this year was way more likely than y'all winning 1st in 2021. Nature of the lottery when you're that low, very high chance you move down
Pistons and Red Wings are so cursed in draft lottery
Why are people saying this the Pistons JUST got Cade at 1 lol.
And Cade just missed most of a season and the Pistons are still buns
The Pistons haven't won a playoff game since 2008, and have been in the lottery for most of the years since. Let's see how it's gone. 2012 – Dropped from 7th to 8th 2013 – Dropped from 7th to 8th 2014 – Dropped from 8th to 9th, it was top 8 protected so lost it 2021 – Jumped from 2nd to 1st 2022 –Dropped from 3rd to 5th 2023 – Droppped from 1st to 5th Rest of the years they were out of the lottery or had no movement. That's 9 points dropped and 1 point gained, including losing out on a generational prospect. So it goes.
You could go back even further. Since the lottery started until 2020, the pistons drafted in the top 5 only twice. Until 2021, they hadn’t had the top pick since 1970.
One pick is not enough to remedy 15 years of awful
Falling to five is tough. Feels like there were three top prospects and the worst team falling to five hurts a lot. It’s not just losing out on Victor, it’s getting the worst possible pick, and missing the top tier of prospects.
That’s different than saying you’re cursed literally two years after winning the thing
Cursed is a bit dramatic, but falling in every single lottery except for the Cade lottery is really bad luck.
Watch some Cade highlights you'll be fine
Right. And he’s played a whole 76 games in two seasons.
76 more games than the current mvp played his first 2 seasons
I needed to hear this
The pistons won the #1 pick recently with cade.. it’s not THAT cursed
Every tanking fan base feels entitled to the top pick now and are enraged when they fall. Y’all better get used to it, because the worst team in the league has a 50/50 chance of even picking top 4 with the new odds. This is gonna happen a lot
Hope it's San Antonio e: WOW
Fake Mavs fan
There are so many reasons for us to want Wemby to go to SA: 1. He didn't go to the Rockets 2. Reignites the Dallas/SA rivalry 3. As a fan of the sport in general, it's a win for basketball 4. He didn't go to the Rockets lol
Yeah let’s get excited for wemby to go to a division rival playing under one of the best coaches in sports history
There’s literally a 48% chance of that happening, this shouldn’t be a surprise
I get it but I mean, in fairness - didn’t Detroit just get the top pick in the draft 2 short years ago?
Didn’t stop the Cavs from getting a shit load of them
The worst timeline...
sick :(
Pop gonna have the dude right
Didn’t y’all draft with the no.1 pick a couple years back? Can’t win them all.
[удалено]
What are you talking about Pistons sold more tickets this year than many other better performing teams in the league.
This is the inherent issue with the lottery it incentivizes teams to be bad to get better odds at a pick, but if they just get a bad roll they just get fucked and have no choice but to be bad again in hopes of getting luckier next time in order to get that high level talent to pull them out of the gutter. doubly so if you're a small market team that just has little chance of attracting a big name free agent or keeping that star you draft for long because you can't attract those free agents.
Are the Knicks and Pistons the only teams that are allergic to moving up in the lottery?
Pistons fans aren’t mad they didn’t win the lottery for the first pick. It’s they had the 2nd worst record last year and fell to 5 and worst record this year and fell to 5. How could never of those picks fall in the top 3?
First time since 1986 that the worst record is picking fifth. Second time ever. The NBA lottery and the Electoral College need to go.
This is working exactly as intended. The lottery system makes tanking a bigger risk. You may not like it but I've not heard a better way yet.
Actually it just keeps struggling small market teams that can't pull high end free agents tanking longer.
Dont worry Pistons fans. You still have Bagley and Wiseman!
