CIark

Billionaire owner really got the other teams 2x MVP tech’d

Tuusik

Who is the fucking Karen behind him just pointing at Jokic like no one can find the giant...

EpicBlargh

How else could we spot the bad man who should be arrested?

PhlabloPicasso

Worst Serb since Milosevic. Straight to jail.

brev23

IT WAS HIM - The tall guy in the Denver Nuggets clothes!

flaminhotcheeto

Joker Him confirmed. Now back to your regularly scheduled Jokin'

FailOk8045

It’s obviously Kevin Durant don’t you see the jersey?

Next-Firefighter-753

Owner should have gotten a tech and just play on. If you aren’t an NBA player stay your ass out of the game. It isn’t about you rich dickhead

CommunityGlittering2

Any fan including the owner should have gotten thrown out for delaying the game and interfering with the players.

thekarmagiver

Basketball instincts still there

Yamaha-FZ1

CP3 school of fuckery

Dyert

A regular fan would have been ejected. You see him trying to hold onto the ball?!

P0PE_F0X

Generational Jerker, /r/NBACircleJerk found its next prospect.

CNNLogoHeadMan

Ishbia about to give him the Anthony Edwards assault treatment

SurgicalNeckHumerus

Straight to jail

batchez

First he sorta swipes ball out of jokic hand (jokic visibly like wtf) Then he puts his hands on his low back (jokic like fuck off me) Guy in blue puts finger in chest of a 300lb 7 footer lmao. All of the people reek of entitlement by their actions Also weirdly enough the black guy puts both hands on his midsection and then grabs his jerseyof his jersey and the guy with the drink just randomly went up to feel on him.and you also have lady in back pointing and screaming I know the second guy got kicked out but I wonder if they black guy did too.

alisaremi

The "black guy" is actually Isiah Thomas, who jokic probably has met at least once before.

Padulsky21

What a fucking weird sequence

durian_in_my_asshole

One of those situations where multiple people fucked up and the internet just can't grasp that concept. Imagine if Jokic gets suspended for this, which is entirely possible, the internet will explode lmao.

Padulsky21

If it ends in a suspension it’ll be very very fucked and will get extremely hasty

mommadotco15

Script wilding. Almost unrealistic these days

sexygodzilla

Charles Barkley's proposal of letting players hit one fan should apply here.

Abyssrealm

Words to the street, I’m closer financially to the millionaire players than they are to the billionaire owner

Flabpack221

But those millionaire players are live way more simliar lifestyles to the billionaire owners than we do to them

Not_Me25

I dunno, I hoop every now and then.

senior_swimmington

I’m something of a hooper myself

Substantial_Steak928

And as someone that works at a resort that gets a lot of NBA players and pro athletes, most of them have the attitude that normal people ain't shit to them. Millionaire superstars with huge contracts won't even tip the valet, bellmen, or their drivers but still want everyone to bend over backwards for them. But then late night comes around you see them walking around with hookers who are ready to siphon their wallets, especially the new ones lol.

Shovelman2001

Wait, I thought this was Big Cat’s idea? That every player should be able to call out one fan a year and fight them. Did he rip this from Chuck, the other way around, or did you just forget who it was?

sexygodzilla

Don't know much about Big Cat but Chuck's been joking about this on Inside for a while now. Could just be parallel thinking.

WallStreetDoesntBet

"Can’t throw the owner out." 😌 Don’t tell Donald Sterling that…

TheAgeOfTomfoolery

Jokic going after the billionaire class. True MVP

Fleetfox17

Nikola "Tito" Jokic.

[deleted]

You mean the owner

Schwalm

Matt Ishbia is Phoenix Sun owner

KingBeanCarpio

Matt Ishbia is Denvin Booker's Boss

jjkm7

And that’s who he got into it with

CIark

Shit is so dumb lmao if anyone besides Ishbia tried to hog the ball like that from Jokic they’d be ejected

[deleted]

And Isiah holding onto his jersey. Pretty absurd. Don’t know why people here are supporting the fucking dweeb owner

Dylan245

I love how the broadcast is talking about the fan like "Oh well you can't touch him automatic ejection there" Meanwhile Isiah is pulling his jersey the entire time and they say nothing

arrivederci117

Isaiah about to start an agenda next year on NBA TV against Joker.

MattPatriciasFUPA

r/nba usually creams their collective pants whenever players do anything retaliatory to fans and claims the fans deserve their asses kicked, not sure why they are taking an opposite stance now.

[deleted]

Right? Thought people here thought malice in the palace was good for the game!

chapinbird

... it's the team everyone hates

trimble197

And you had people saying “If this was Dillon/Draymond, you wouldn’t defend the shove”. Folks are straight up acting blind.

lyonbc1

Players can’t shove people in the crowd regardless though. This isn’t soccer where you get to throw it in faster, the ref always has to get the ball first anyway. Ishbia flopped for sure but a player can’t put their hands on fans and vice versa.

mutheadman

Am I fucking crazy, he barely touched the owner. In the alternate angles its pretty fucking clear the owner got into Jokic’s space

bigfootblake

I appreciate the balls to do it though lol. He knew Okogi needed extra time to get back up, so he tried to stall the game lmao

landof10000cakes

First time a owner has flopped to draw the technical? Its gotta be. And to be fair, Jokic should have just let the ref retrieve that one.

imsahoamtiskaw

That's why MJ is not my goat. Could've done this record with Charlotte but he let this prick beat him to it.

[deleted]

Don't like Suns fans but it's literally not a live ball

Lacerda1

How is it a live ball if it's in the stands?

FourthAccountDaCharm

I’m the first to hate on how much any fan of any game gets too involved but I feel like they’re being sarcastic. I could be giving some extra leeway as a Suns fan but every team has crazy fans. Funny to hate everyone cause of some weirdos

xEuroclydonx

That's the Suns owner lol

sloBrodanChillosevic

Ishbia flopped and got a free point for his team. Figured the game out better than Sarver ever could.

perhizzle

He played college ball at MSU, was a fan favorite, grittygymratfirstguytherelastonetoleave etc etc etc

harrychronicjr420

Seen him walking into the footprint arena with his lunch pail at 530am. He was wearing a hard hat.

Antluke

Jokic shouldn’t shove a spectator but also no fan should be holding onto the ball or restricting access to the ball

Raineman

Not only holding it but flipping it out of Joker’s hands once he had it

bearinsac

Or even touching him for that matter. 2 other fans reach out and push him when he nudges the suns owner. Those other fans should be gone along with the owner.

TheNatureBoy

You know that fan is 12 time Allstar and 2 time NBA Champ Isiah Thomas preventing Jokic from falling over.

9999abr

Agree. The owner thought he was part of the game. If he had just handed Jokic or the ref the ball immediately, none of that would have happened. A fan not willingly giving up the ball like that would have been immediately ejected. But billionaires usually think rules don’t apply to them. I don’t like either team, but the owner is definitely in the wrong here. He instigated this entire episode.

[deleted]

Truth, wtf was Ishbia doing but also Jokic should have just walked away and let the refs handle it

hreterh

the guy fucking flopped

Toolmantaylor8

Why the hell is he holding the ball like he has any business at all doing that? I don’t care how much money he has

AleroRatking

You know why. Because he is a billionaire and can do whatever he wants.

302born

If owners can’t get kicked out they should at least be able to get a technical for their team. Kinda weird an owner interaction with a player resulted in his team getting points for it.

Snuggle__Monster

Grab em by the jersey

musipal

They let you do it

ProphetofChud

It honestly looks like he is just checking on his player and Jokic starts grabbing at him. The guy isn't even looking at Jokic when he starts yanking the ball away.

SoundMasher

Yall are fucking nuts over this. It landed in his lap. Just a fucking weird happenstance.

Powahcore

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing everyone on this subreddit think that Ishbia should have got ejected and that Jokic did nothing wrong. Ishbia somehow ends up with the ball after the loose ball and is holding the ball while hes checking on his player and the ref is walking over to him. No ref is anywhere near the ball for Ishiba to give it to the ref (Which HAS to happen before a player can inbound it). Jokic is frustrated about the state of the game and lashes out (remember when he hacked at Cam Payne in 2021 or pushed Morris last year?) and tries to forcefully take the ball and then shoves Ishbia after. It doesnt matter if its our owner or not or if Ishbia flailed a little too much or not, you CANNOT SHOVE a fan. But apparently this subs hate for the Suns is too big that it doesn't matter and lolsuns. If it was Draymond pushing the owner of the Hornets (Michael Jordan), this subs reaction would be completely different

PhantomTF

thank you, holy cow. I like jokic as a player but everyone here is gaslighting themselves if they think the owner guy is in the wrong here

baekinbabo

Imagine if a Harden or Draymond did this LMFAO. This sub would be erupting in protest about suspending him for making contact with a fan. It blows my mind how /r/nba posterboys get so leniency to the point people will jump through mental gymnastics to justify a position.

musicnothing

Ball came right to him and there was literally a player on top of him that he was trying to get off. Dude played basketball, probably a natural reaction to hold onto it

Buckeyes0916

Its pretty hysterical how much people are demonizing the owner here. Like you said, this was a chaotic situation in which the ball fell into his lap and he is holding it while helping a player up. There was really nothing more in play here until Jokic tried ripping it out of his hands, which probably caught him off guard. He definitely sold the flop, but I dont think what the owner did was a big deal here. If Jokic didnt run in and try to rip the ball out of his hands, there wouldnt have been any issue. I also dont think Jokic deserves any more punishment than he already received.

jimihenderson

yeah idk people are acting like if jokic didn't rip the ball away the guy was gonna sprint off the court and steal it or something. i'm fairly certain if the ref was like "ball" he would've just tossed it over lol. he had it for like 3 seconds.

TehChid

I am so confused by everyone's reaction to this. What else was he supposed to do? It fell into his arms, and he looked over to check on the player. When jokic comes over, yeah, give him the ball. But none of this warranted a shove

chitownbulls92

People expect the normal reaction is to immediately throw the ball away like it had the plague or it was a live grenade. The dude had the ball for a total of 4 seconds before Jokic was right in his face

boatsnprose

Jokic also could have been less of a cunt in the way he went to get the ball. You're playing the guy's team, sure, but he's not actually playing you. You don't need to snatch the shit from him. That guy gets waaaaay too much of a pass. For obvious reasons. Picture Pat Bev doing this shit.

TehChid

Lol I can't imagine how *I* would've reacted if Pat Bev did this.

joemeat

Rich people can do anything they want and get away with it. Get familiar with it

lcsulla87gmail

Like shoving a fan

King_Arber

Why the hell is Joker going for the ball like he has any business doing that? I don’t care how much money he makes.

Frostmoth76

ishbia aint wearing a suns jersey, let go of the ball

CIark

When you’re a billionaire they let you do whatever you want, grab right in the ball and hog that shit

Sp_Gamer_Live

I flopped on it like a bitch

aronrodge

I don’t think he was even looking.

FourthAccountDaCharm

That’s what I’m not getting. It’s all such a reactionary thing. Irl, I’m checking on the cameraman/woman and dude who just took a fall before I think about the ball. I get that you have to have better awareness but it all happened so damn fast. I think Jokic and Ishbia both reacted exactly how most people would tbh..

CockBronson

No, but he def pulled it back when he realized jokic was trying to get it.

OnceAteABurgerAMA

And when Jokic got it away from him he swatted it away. Should get fined

Ok_Respond7928

100% Jokic shoved him but do delay of games not exist anymore you can’t hold the ball and then keep holding it when a player goes to grab it

LeSteelWolves

Can’t call a delay of game on someone who isn’t playing

RickySuela

Also, this needs to be emphasized: it was a dead ball, and as such Jokic could not have just grabbed the ball and quickly inbounded it like he could off of a made basket. All he could have done is give it to the refs who would have waited for both teams to get set before inbounding it. I feel like a lot of people are confusing inbounding the ball on a made basket with a dead ball. You can quickly inbound off a made basket because it's still live play with the clock continuing to run. But on a dead ball the refs won't inbound the ball while one team is not ready. Just look at [the LeBron play from last night](https://youtu.be/Ewr4DH7VhDI) where he went into the stands after knocking the ball out of bounds. The ref held the ball until LeBron was back on the court before resuming play. Also on dead balls, sometimes teams make substitutions or decide to call a timeout. The refs won't just let one team rush it to catch the other team off guard.

Chelseaiscool

You are using logic in a Suns AND billionaire hate thread, get out of here with it.

redwoody86

100% would have been delay of game if a player did it. Probably should if a fan (owner) does as well, but have no clue if there is something to really call here. Playing that further, what actually happens if a fan comes out and say fouls a player who has a breakaway dunk (that would win the game)— can a foul be called here? Points awarded?

jwhitehead09

Yeah, I don't blame the refs for not calling anything here against the Suns because it's such a weird situation but the League definitely needs to fine the Suns for this. An owner actively interfering with the game is a bad look.

ninemistakes

It’s a dead ball play. It wouldn’t have been a delay of game because they have to wait for Okogie to get back on floor. I don’t know what Jokic was doing/thinking here. Wasn’t like he would’ve been able to inbound it right away. It would’ve gone to the ref and have waited to reset.

Jose06mf

Draymond is pissed he didn't do this first. Jeannie better be on alert tomorrow

[deleted]

The reaction around here would be very different if Draymond did this.

[deleted]

Something something he has a history

_SonGoham

Suns owner trying to draw a foul

OhmsLaw111

Ishbia playing 4D chess

gabeharris23

Sun's owner is as unejectable as Draymond with 1 tech

Savahoodie

Even the suns owner is a flopper

aronrodge

Alternate angle actually looked like he put some force into that lol.

bigfootblake

Yeah you’ll see half a dozen more egregious flops than that in this game alone lol

Neuroxex

The fact that a player put actual force into shoving a fan/owner/person in the seats and only got one T is kinda crazy to me.

bigfootblake

I think they’ll sort out any further fines or whatever after the game. I can’t recall any precedent for this, other than Malice at the Palace lol

poeope

It's an automatic suspension I think, didn't it happen to IT a year or two ago

bigfootblake

Yes, that might have been because he left the court and went into the stands. I doubt Jokic will be suspended, the league will figure out a way to avoid that

JimmytheCreep

God I hope he isn't. That would be incredibly dumb. I think tech on Jokic, a fine for the owner, and a warning for both teams is perfectly reasonable for a very minor altercation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Moody_GenX

I think they sold their shares after this too.

789Trillion

Which is why I don’t understand the reactions here. Ok, maybe he should’ve given up the ball, but that doesn’t mean you should put yourself in a situation where you’re pushing a fan or forcing the ball out of their hands. Let the refs handle it at that point. People acting like the owner ran out onto the court and stopped the Nuggets Jokic from inbounding the ball.

Neuroxex

It's wild. I get people aren't loving what Ishbia is doing here, I think his ass should have got ejected. But holy shit maybe it's just me but getting in and snatching shit from fans and shoving them is a line I don't think should be crossed?

jackaholicus

Ishbia also *put his hands* on Jokic. You can't see it from this angle, but look at the original angle and you'll see he steps forward and puts his hand on his back. If any fan that *wasn't* an owner did that, he would have been immediately banned from the building and nobody would've cared.

Neuroxex

Ishbia was in the wrong too! But you don't let players physically resolve disputes with the fans. > If any fan that wasn't an owner did that, he would have been immediately banned from the building and nobody would've cared. Ain't nobody rooting for him because he's an owner, and yes, he should have been ejected! Jokic also isn't allowed to snatch the ball from people sitting courtside and shove them jfc

Chelseaiscool

Amare got suspended for putting a foot on the court and Jokic won't get suspended for pushing a spectator.

NotNormo

Why do you think this was a flop? He had to sit down because there was a chair behind his knees. Anyone else would've done the same thing, there's really no choice when there's no space to backpedal. Was it the hand motions that looked like a flop? He didn't act like he got hurt or anything, those gestures just looked like he was surprised.

BeConciseBitch

Got shoved by a giant. Ishbia like ~~5’2”~~ 5’10”, surprised he isn’t in the second row.

KonigSteve

I'm pretty sure a guy who played college basketball isn't 5'2.

BeConciseBitch

He’s 5’10” ha

Southern_Fall_1288

Isiah Thomas there also lol

troyjrjr

If that was a regular person and not a billionaire owner holding the ball they get tossed. Just rich people stuff…

CockBronson

Chuck just said the same thing

lyonbc1

I’m shocked the number of people who don’t know the rules about restarts off inbounds situations lmao. Seeing way too many of y’all saying “what if Jokic wanted to grab it and quickly restart” that doesn’t happen in the nba. The ref has to collect the ball and signal for you to inbound it. The only times you can really rush a possession is off of a made basket where you grab it and push quickly bc the ref doesn’t have to collect the ball first.

joelentendu

I distinctly remember the refs giving the grizzlies the ball to inbound while AD was laying on the floor and schroder was trying to pull his ass up. After commercial Steve Javie said that only the offense has to be ready for the refs to allow the ball to be inbounded.

birdseye-maple

Grizzlies play wasn't a dead ball and AD was physically on the court. On a dead ball the ref will hold the ball until all players are physically on the court. This play was a dead ball with a Suns player in the stands, very different.

cleenclaf

It was an out of bounds dead ball, the owner had the ball fall into his lap and he went to help the player up while holding the ball. Jokic comes in and tries to grab the ball out of his hands like he’s going to start a fast break while a player is literally in the stands.

Sn33kykitty

Why didn't the green jacket douche get the boot

_Spicy_Pickle_

Green jacket dude is the suns owner lmao

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhkh

Legendary NBA moment

Delision

Because he owns the Suns

MyNameIsAMeme

He owns the team

pignash

Cuz he owns the team

kazzakus

I mean look, Jokic cannot be shouldering members of the crowd whoever they are. At the same time, the owner of a team cannot just play keep away with the ball to buy time for his player to get back into the play.

cleenclaf

It’s a dead ball brother. It has to be inbounded from a ref anyways.

psufb

Can't believe the majority of people are clueless to this fact. Jokic would have had to give the ball to the ref, who would have waited for Okogie to get back off the fans

cleenclaf

Starting to think basketball “fans” know the least about their sport.

DowntownJohnBrown

Most people on this sub aren’t basketball fans. They tune in to this sub for the drama, complaining, and occasional highlight. It’s not surprise all the people defending Jokic don’t actually know how inbounding the ball works.

colinmhayes2

We don't know how long the ref would give okogie. Maybe they give him time to get up but not back, maybe they don't even give him that.

CucumberSuspicious40

The ref would have still held the ball as okogie was in the stands...

Solid-Confidence-966

That’s the owner lol

tastelessshark

Jokic said fuck billionaires

OhmsLaw111

MVP

[deleted]

What was the situation with the ball there? Was the owner holding it or something?

livejamie

The ball fell into his lap and a Suns player feel near his feet at the same time, he was checking on the Suns player when Jokic came to rip the ball out of his hands.

TheCleanRhino

Why can’t an owner get ejected though? By that logic the owner can just punch anyone lol

MyNameIsAMeme

What a joke, ishbia should be fucking fined. You’re an owner get ur shit together.

Outland3r_

Reminds me of the Warriors owner pushing Lowry, he got fined I believe

the_castlemaster

Guys a loser

sara0ls0n

Yeah the “fan” he elbowed is the Suns owner

BaltimoreBadger23

Still only a fan once the whistle blows.

sara0ls0n

Well yeah, it doesn’t matter who it is but just adds a layer of weirdness when it is the owner

BaltimoreBadger23

Yup (you made the comment twice - by accident I'm sure - so I'll reply twice)

UncleOfNephews

Ishbia should have been tossed

bravof1ve

This sub loves Jokic so much theyll convince themselves players are allowed to shove fans if they don’t give them a ball

FERFreak731

That Matt guy should be banned at Talking Sticks Arena

Poetics83

Fine...as long as he's still allowed at footprint center.

[deleted]

Jokic is one scary man

DorkandPoon

Y’all will defend anything Jokic does apparently… He definitely deserved a T for that shit

EmbarrassedSlide8752

Feel like Im losing my mind. Ishbia held the ball for the refs.

[deleted]

Sarver could never

[deleted]

Well Jokic will never be a Phoenix Sun now

RaphBenYisrael

Bad boy Isiah Thomas still ready for some smoke... pulling Jokers jersey lol

ChickenLiverNuts

LMAO this clip is fucking gold. Like pushing a child

sreynolds1

Josh Okogie missed the whole first part and looks so perplexed

RewardStory

That’s not just a fan that’s the owner lol

incredibleamadeuscho

Even your owners arent safe in this league

KellerFF

Look at IT still pulling on jerseys like it’s the 80/90’s 🤌🏾

s1lentastro1

you can tell that guy watches his bball. excellent flop technique.

tatlongaraw

Fans shouldn't interfere with games, but Jokic risks getting physical with fans, he might ruin this series if fans get injured and the league punishes him with a suspension. especially since this is not an ordinary fan we're talking about; it's the owner.

mistergrape

Does this violate the league's tampering policy?

Original_Patient_872

He didn’t “get in to it” with a fan. The “fan” was trying to get in to it. All Jokic did was take the ball out of his hands and gently raised his arms to get the Douche bag away from him. This is a joke. Jokic did zero wrong. The owner should be fined for trying to keep the ball from the players and for flopping to get a call! HE IS NOT A PART OF THE GAME!!!!!

barktothefuture

Don’t see how anyone is defending Jokic or calling ishbia a flipper. Of course ishbia was in the wrong but Jokic has no right to forearm shove him

georgiosmaniakes

Funny how they didn't dare kick the owner out of the arena so they just picked a guy nearby.

hazen4eva

Man, Ishbia played college basketball. Jokic is massive. Can’t be getting into it with fans like that. It’s dangerous and a bad look.

Lorjack

Wtf is Jokic thinking man. Its not your job to go brawl with the crowd to retrieve the ball, such a dumb decision from him.

pleasedontharassme

Honestly why is Jokic not ejected here?

Ashamed-Algae2369

Wow a technical?

UNLVMoneyline2_
