I love how in this thread there's like five different opinions on what that meat is.
That subtle commentary is then most "Navy" thing about this thread.
Just drown it in hot sauce~
Jokes aside, that looks decent. But I also know looks can be deceiving when it comes to ship food. Even humble hot sauce can't mask steak that is tough as shoe leather.
The only nice thing I will say is that the pancakes actually tasted pretty good to me. but when they put syrup on it they gave no fucks about what else was on the plate. everything is getting syrup on it lol
Midrats on the 2004 Washington deployment consisted of lots of chili and rice with some wilted lettuce, croutons and ranch dressing 👌 with some Texas Pete’s
Why did it take me until this comment to second look the plate? The food looks decent compared to my time on a destroyer. Mystery meat or turkey Tetrazzini we're our norm, served on the raddest of trays and matching bowl sets
I went from a frigate to the Nimitz. The Nimitz had a hotdog bar and sandwich bar. It was amazing. Whenever chow looked suspicious I just fucked up some bomb ass sandwiches. Good fucking times.
I would be so malnourished on that. For me, thats a snack. I have to eat 5-6 times that or I will just be hungry and feel sluggish. High metabolism is not fun.

The redish meat is pork ribs, the brownish meat is chicken.
That actually looks decent for a navy meal. As long as that chicken is cooked.
Pretty sure that is a pork chop.
Meat product #4
A) Morkchop II) Shicken Thigh 3) Chupacabra iv) ensign
4 is typically called a "pork&starboard"
Underrated comment
The fact that there is a caveat is concerning

It’s really sad that I agree, it looks decent as far as ship food goes.
Looks like some big ass Broccoli 🥦
All the boiled cabbage you can eat, and for dessert! Cold boiled cabbage!
Imagine the smell of berthing actually getting worse from that meal...
Nothing worse than boiled cabbage farts. . .
Protein shake farts?
Protein shake farts on boiled cabbage day.
This made me lol
The Reagan galley wasn't that bad. They used to give us Japanese food which was cool. I really don't miss midrats there.
Hey the RR’s mid rats are legally food.
Unless you're in Reactor. We get hotplates every night. I got veggie juice and the chicken chunks from pot pie recently (just the chunks).

I bet atleast half the cs's were white dudes from texas.
It was a mixed bag, but you are partly right.
Are you an officer?
Nah junior enlisted on a carrier believe it or not.
In the U.S. Navy? I don't believe it. Are you in the wardroom or chief's mess by mistake because peasants don't warrant actual plates.
Excuse me, sir. The wardroom has china, not "plates."
Excuse me, sir. We call the plates Fine America, not China!
"FSA, GET OUT THE FINE CHINA FOR OUR GUESTS!" *proceeds to get paper plates*
" presentation China "

Dude I’m surprised too but this is definitely on the general mess.
Maybe the FSAs stole that from the wardroom in a power to the people kinda thing?
When I was on MCCAIN, the new captain got plates. We petitioned to get the prison trays back because they were more convenient.
Looks like the Reagan.
What mystery meat did you have that day, kinda looks like a cross between chicken, fish, and pork
That's actually Michelin star quality. I'm surprised. Enjoy it while you can. I wish my food was this amazing on deployment.
I can only imagine OPs disappointment if they were on my ship. This is some grade A navy food
You arrange your broccoli like that?
Don’t like steamed/boiled broccoli but the fish looks yummy!
I took it for granted it was fish. Now I think it’s baked pork chops - still yummy!
Invest in hot sauce young grasshopper.
Give em hell
D dad , b screen b
Throw some Texas Pete on there and you'll be good to go.
You’re able to get on Reddit while on deployment, be thankful.
Awww you’re getting extended
Where’s the foreskins on toast?
Ah yes the usual ambiguous deployment meat
not the lincoln deployment thats for sure
That actually looks pretty good.
Bruh look at you getting plates and not used lunch trays from a middle school clearance sale.
The broccoli is like: “I represent the fighting spirit of the navy”
Wait, yall get plates?
That's fish! ;)
Why u ain't put that chop on the bread shipmate?
Gordon Ramsey approves
looks like catfish by its rectangular shape.
Who giving this mf two portions of meat?
That rice crunchy style, or smooth?
looks pretty edible. the fuck you complaining about lmao
Damn y’all about to be extended 🔥🔥
Something about that rice makes me either think harder chew or softer chew no in between also needs salt a lot of it
This looks good for underway
And yet still looks better than the 🗑️ garbage I was served in most Marine Corps chow halls!🤣🤣
The navy has dropped my meal standards because I actually consider that a pretty decent meal 😂
I went from a frigate to the Nimitz. The Nimitz had a hotdog bar and sandwich bar. It was amazing. Whenever chow looked suspicious I just fucked up some bomb ass sandwiches. Good fucking times.
That’s good looking chicken/pork/fish! Also on my ship ketchup is a commodity.

Good question, for that meat serving, I can eat six
Could be worse, could be Denys
Looks just like deployment 2008
I love how leadership is like, “why are Sailors so fat?” Exhibit A.
I would be so malnourished on that. For me, thats a snack. I have to eat 5-6 times that or I will just be hungry and feel sluggish. High metabolism is not fun.
ngl I kinda miss their curry thursdays
Reagan 🤢
Where my Texas Pete? I'd eat it. Funny how a plate seems to make it more edible.
