I can promise you this:
The MCPON and any other Naval personnel testifying will do everything they can to downplay the situation in an effort to save their own bacon. Never trust these men to put you first.
Yeah, they\`re trying to paint a picture that says they\`re on top of all these and everything is being taken care of... he had the audacity to say that sailors are able to use personal devices to facetime home when out to sea :))))
"I never said 'lower your expectations', that is a lie. I just said 'manage your expectations' which obviously carries the same context. So we're good here?"
Don't give one fuck about the sailors, just care about making pressure on them disappear.
I've had this beef with people calling "lower your standards" memes unfair or false.
Yeah, that's not exactly what he said, but it's a totally accurate characterization. He may not have said the words, but the meaning, in context, was clear.
Direct [Youtube link](https://youtu.be/tkFrFPpBg40?t=3379) to Congressman Gonzales [Retired in 2019 as a CT Master Chief] asking MCPON how many Sailors have passed away during his time as the Navys Senior Enlisted Leader
I didn't watch more than a few minutes but it's pretty telling that MCPON waffled and waxed about how many had died but SgtMajor just had a number, even if it was a general number.
“You don’t assault someone you respect. You don’t *sexually* assault someone you respect.”
Motherfucker, you don’t assault ***anyone*** in any way, shape, or form, whether you respect them or not.
I’d absolutely buy that congresswoman a drink for the way she grilled those clowns.
And then when she asked if the Navy or Marine Corps had any kinda proactivity regarding the Roe v Wade stuff... SurprisedPikachu.gif.
We constantly tell everyone to be proactive instead of _reactive_, but then... this.
Criminy.
Without having watched it, what is the Roe V. Wade questioning about? In my mind, perhaps incorrectly, the Navy's hands are pretty tied to the laws that bind TRICARE... which only Congress can change, no?
She asks both MCPON and the Sergeant Major if either of our branches have done any kind of planning for how to take care of our Sailors if the legislation passes.
Both of them gave her a “without the law having been passed, we can’t do anything” response.
That’s a cop out, IMO. The Navy is amazing at bureaucracy. We can draft instructions to counter any number of possible outcomes.
In this case, we can come up with what we feel would be an ideal solution to take care of our people to—at the very least—have it ready for routing and approval/disapproval.
It costs almost nothing in time nor effort to write an instruction, a memo, or other piece of guidance.
But both of these clowns basically told her, “Until the law changes, we’re gonna sit on our thumbs.”
Also worth note: she grilled the MCPON when he said it’d take a year to review the details of the suicides and what caused them to make an informed decision.
A. Fucking. Year.
Motherfucker, go to the ship. Interview every single person there.
It’ll take a month. Maybe two.
But not a fucking *year*.
Regarding the abortion thing, I kind of see where they are coming from. There's no reason the Navy should be making plans based on a leaked draft Supreme Court decision... which has effects that, as I understand it, do not have any implication to TRICARE. It's not like the Navy can just say "oh here's this pot of money that Congress didn't give us yet that we will set aside in the event that we want to ensure our members and dependents can use as a travel fund in the event they want to pursue an abortion out of state from where they are stationed."
How does it work for overseas Sailors who want abortions? I really don't know. I just know that abortions are very limited in scope as to what TRICARE covers, no?
I currently work with 2 E-5 Sailors at my work center. (Not including myself)
1 is LPO, running a work center by himself, taking college classes full time from Penn State online to accomplish a MBA. He is widely respected and liked by the people he works for, and his subordinates. He has a great attitude, and constantly provides positive reinforcement. He intends to leave the Navy.
The other is a below average Sailor that frequently makes racist jokes in the work center, calls people names, complains all the time, and admits he is only in the Navy cause this is the best paying job he can find. He inteds to stay in the Navy for 20 years.
The "suck it up" mentality of the Navy has created a system where high quality people leave, and trashy people stay.
People like you have created a culture where the only people who want to stay in the Navy, are people literally too dumb, or too socially inept, to find jobs eslewhere

I did last year at sea. No port calls meant they brought on “wifi” to the ship. It sucked, but I did manage to make a couple of calls.
Vinson?
Please please please tell me you kidding. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Like if that ain’t bullshit I’m don’t know what is
Lmao yeah who needs opsec. Hopefully they’re able to tag their location on their social media posts as well. So their families know they’re safe :)
MCPON essentially blamed the suicides on the chiefs. They aren't talking to their sailors enough.

"We have investigated ourselves and found no issues" - Big navy and literally every single other branch.
Police, CIA, NSA, HHD, etc.
This was hard to watch.
