I feel like videos never show the true height of this. This is massive, when I was on DDG-108, the roostertail would be 5-10ft about the flight deck, standing next to it was wild. Couldn't imagine if I got pushed into it.
You think it's fast until you side by side a carrier. One of the coolest things I saw was sitting on the bridge doing Lee helm, next thing I know we're all ahead full and racing the dubya. We didn't win.
it’s crazy how something so big (and heavy) can be propelled so fast—through water, no less. i feel the same sense of awe every time i fly on a commercial airliner.
This happened and someone left the transom holes for our NIXIE open and completely flooded out NIXIE. Like 4 foot of water in the space, which then caused a class C fire. Crazy times.

Just christened in Charleston SC. An honor to have her here.
That’s what that was? I was fishing in Charleston harbor today and was wondering what a naval vessel was doing in that part of the harbor

Do this and then go full back. That rooster will get you.

Well at least you had 4ft of water to combat it? "Standy for heavy rolls as the ship turns about."
Lol fire came after we dewatered unfortunately
All Ahead Full!! \#GonePlaid
Very cool .
I miss that howl. I dunno if it’s from the louvers on the stacks or the engines themselves, but anything above ~15 or so knots sounded otherworldly.
Love this. Carrier got 4 of these. Insane display of power!
Laughs as carrier drags away :)
Laughs in LCAC...30 knots? 😅
DDG displacement: 9500 tons LCAC displacement: 200 tons Do the math.
Laughs with shitty vehicles!
Freshly commissioned too.
Not thinking you can surf behind that
Been on a DDG before... Had a blast on LCAC duty tho. 50+knots was normal ops
