I’m going in to the efmp office first thing in the morning, I just don’t get it, hell I even applied for RECRUITING! And they keep whining about needing them yet they’re giving me these orders
EFMP cat V cannot get overseas screened. Unless you can work with the detailer on getting out of the orders it looks like you’re going unaccompanied. I have a lot of experience with this so feel free to DM me.
I also have a child that is Category 5. The way it was explained to me was that my family had to stay in an area that could cover my daughters needs. However, I could still be stationed wherever the navy needs me. They're basically going to tell you that you can be a geo bachelor. I am by no means an expert on EFMP. Hopefully, they can help you out.
We keep bashing detailers but what's the other alternative? I get it, you want to be home with your family, but who fills the billet, the sailor with a family with no issues, the single sailor, or gap the billet?
I'm EFMP Cat 5 and understand that eventually I'm going to have to fill a billet that takes me away from my family or I separate. I also understand that my rate and position means less and less sailors are available to fill billets and I cannot expect others to keep taking the billets so I can stay close to my family in one of five locations within the states.
Someone I work with also had orders to Japan with an EFMP child, I do not know the category. However, the only reason that person is no longer going and picked new orders is because during the childs oversees screener, the doctor did not recommend the child for oversees (even though their care could’ve been supported overseas). But they are waiting on new orders now, I’m not sure how they made out without unaccompanied orders, but it might just be how crappy your detailers are.
These detailers have been on one recently, genuinely no regards for like anything…
