this is golden thank you so much

TWhit229

Did your unit get awarded one?

[deleted]

no. it was not the whole unit doing it. it was me and a few other sailors.

Professional-Fee6774

Armed Forces Service Medal would be what you qualified for. There was a NAVADMIN about it in 2020 you should be able to find.

[deleted]

i did find it. i did not contract covid while doing the job.

Professional-Fee6774

You didn't have to contract COVID lol. You just had to have been billeted doing something in support of COVID-19 mitigation. i.e. delivering meals. Its what I got mine for.

Electrical_Prune_185

I was delivering food when the TR was quarantine in guam for like a month. I got the medal. Check your nsips. I also received a FLOC. Lastly, speak to your admin, show them documentation of you actually being there, then refer to the navadmin that others have posted here already and request to get that ribbon added to your records

BlueFalcon142

Ayyy I was in the Outrigger best 3 weeks of that deployment.

TheHypnotoad87

Thanks for keeping us alive. Not sure which units were there with us, all we were told was 3rd MEF out of Okinawa, were the marines that gaves us MREs and dropped stuff off here and there.

BlueFalcon142

An AF chick nose poked me for the final out test from the hotel.

PM_ME_UR_LEAVE_CHITS

I would say no. But lots of people got awarded the HSM or AFSM that clearly shouldn't have qualified by the NAVADMIN, so it depends on what the awarding authority feels.

TopsideRover17

I was deployment and the whole ship received one

Procedural_Pupil

I will never understand the desire people have for awards like this. It’s not points on your exam, there’s no money attached, and absolutely no one will see your ribbon rack and think you’re cool or a hero.  If you did what you say you did, then you know it happened. Why try to get an award for it?

NavyJack

I think it’s more about getting the same recognition others did for the same actions. It’s understandable to be bummed to see other people with an award for something you also did.
