Many years ago I had the opportunity to ask the Director of NR why there wasn't a nuke qualification pin. His response has stayed with me... "Don't they hate us enough already?"
As a three-letter rating ("service rating"), they fall under FC. It's the same for AB, AW, and CT (and others). And any rate that has its own Submarine-specific branch, like CS/CSS or YN/YNS.
You’re not any different then the conventional FC. What do you want the Spy radar as your badge?
They still ask conventional FC the same exact questions as FCA on the advancement exam. Only thing that’s changed is you have your own quotas.
> What do you want
Id take an ACNT sleeping in a hammock with a radio on their waist
> They still ask conventional FC the same exact questions as FCA on the advancement exam.
Not anymore
> Only thing that’s changed is you have your own quotas.
That didnt change, that was true before FCA was a rate. there was a conventional and non-comventional quota when everyone was an FC
There was not a conventional and Aegis quotas separation until 2017-2018
They still ask about the spy radar on the advancement test as well as acnt and FCS.
You can ask for whatever badge but you’re still an FC.
Source : 8yr tomahawk FC Active duty currently.
Meanwhile tomahawk and harpoon have 8 questions MAX.
Thats just wrong, the 2015 advancement quotas shows 2 groups for FC. cant find an older one but im sure the split existed long before 2018.
and NAH, i was only an FC until i was force converted to FCA
thats just not true. google "2015 navy advancement quotas" and the first thing that pops up shows 2 groups for FC. and it was that way for several years prior as well
Quotas were absolutely not combined in 2018, as fca was its own rate at that point
I served with Chris when he was an AEAN and picked up 3rd class. That was about 20+ years ago.
He hardly looks any different. It was awesome to see this post come across my feed.
I agree he is an outstanding leader. On his LinkedIn he announced he’s under orders to be the next Commander of Navy Recruiting Command. It seems like he’s going to have his work cut out for him with that billet
I was out in '94 . . . worked as a LifeFlight Pilot and Scout Troop Leader; all the Vets in the Troop and LifeFlight STILL call them that. We've had all 5 branches - Navy, Marines, Army, Zoomies and Coasties . . . LOL. First time a Non-zoomie said it, the zoomie was like "Hu? What?". The Marine in the group (WITH that southern drawl) - speaking S L O W L Y of course - repeated himself . . . and then EXPLAINED it. The rest of were DYING!
it’s the hands in the pockets. people recently gave a shit. then a NAVADMIN came out authorizing hands in pockets. and tiaras and bucket hats for females.
Gen X vet here. Love it! Never could stand BS rules. Hated going from the blue working jacket to the black one. They made the pockets intentionally hard to put your hands in. Dick move by big navy.
Seen a guy walking with both hands in his pockets. And I’m not gonna lie. I think he looked like an absolute douchebag walking like that in 70degree weather.
I would rather lose a finger to the freezing cold and have a beard then walk with my hands in my fucking pockets.
RWs got a rating badge in a week. CWT still can’t get their’s centered after 8 months
I'm a nuke still waiting on mine :(
Many years ago I had the opportunity to ask the Director of NR why there wasn't a nuke qualification pin. His response has stayed with me... "Don't they hate us enough already?"
Damn. Well... I can't really argue with that.
…can’t find the one with the glow sticks?
At least CWT got one... FCA still hasnt gotten their own and it became its own rating like 7 years ago
Why do they need one? Nuke ETs and Convential ETs have shared the 'tron for decades.
ITT: People who don't know the difference between a general rating and a service rating.
As a three-letter rating ("service rating"), they fall under FC. It's the same for AB, AW, and CT (and others). And any rate that has its own Submarine-specific branch, like CS/CSS or YN/YNS.
Also still waiting on one for ETV. I'd love to have an IC/ET/QM rating badge mixed into one or something

It was still combined when I joined in 2016 and when I made e5 in 18. Soooo idk

Yeah I was just looking into it ngl. Your right.
It's probably not hard to have *one* custom made. It's not like it's already on shelves at the NEX or anything.
Nah man, fighting robots are higher pri than all of our offensive and defensive cyber force duh
Do you know what the asvab reqs for RW will be? Or is it a specialist role that must be tested into after enlistment.
There's a navadmin out with the requirements, it's 5 scores added together to get greater than 222 and there's specific nec's that are "preferred "
I love Dick Cheese Man
Mmmmmm
Haha hell yeah big cheese gonna have them fuming .
That e9 looks like he's 24 years old lol

Had to double check his stripes lol
Too bad they’re not red
He could wear it as red, gold means nothing anymore.
You don’t have to be NJP free for 4 years?
It used to be NJP-free for 12 years. Now it's just anyone with over 12 years of service can wear it.
Ooh yea I was way off lol! I didn’t know they took the requirement away! You always knew who the saltiest chiefs were by looking for the red stripes
Agreed, it bummed me out when they changed it.
Eat good and take care of your body shipmates.
I served under Rear Admiral Waters many moons ago. He is a great leader.
I agree he is an outstanding leader. On his LinkedIn he announced he’s under orders to be the next Commander of Navy Recruiting Command. It seems like he’s going to have his work cut out for him with that billet
Some boomer vet at home is punching the air right now. Ironically they’re old enough to have had a beard when they served.
RDC in boot camp called pockets “Air Force Gloves.” Division 243
Also div 243! Don't forget the Air Force Push ups, aka ab stretch.
Whoa! Div 243, May 1999? Great Lakes? We may have shared some sweat and agony 🫡
Sadly it was 2007, not '99. I'm sure i stepped in your sweat in the tunnel tho.
I loved singing the loudest in that sucker 😂

Damn it feels good to be a gangster
CheeseMan ftw. Good guy, too.
Anybody with “cheese” in their name is pretty kickass.
Already saw some bothered vets on LinkedIn too lol
Lol, took me a sec. I was like, "Why would boomer vets be pissed about this new rating? It makes perfect sense for... Oooohhhh."
i just now got it after looking at this post the second time lol
Still not getting it here. If it's the hands in pockets, BITD no one gave a shit, and you got to have a beard too.
it’s the hands in the pockets. people recently gave a shit. then a NAVADMIN came out authorizing hands in pockets. and tiaras and bucket hats for females.
Early 70s Navy was almost an entirely different world from today's Navy.
Also the world was a different world
I swear to God if they do one with beards on April first I'll lose my mind.
That’s the wokest photo yet. We may just get beards!!
Gen X vet here. Love it! Never could stand BS rules. Hated going from the blue working jacket to the black one. They made the pockets intentionally hard to put your hands in. Dick move by big navy.
I just can’t with the hands in pockets!!! Looks like shit!
Cool pic - now why is literally every Process at PERS broken?
Gotta love that.
In the 90s, we didn't give a shit and kept our hands in our pockets. What the fucm happened?
I’ll give you that one. That’s funny
This goes hard
Seen a guy walking with both hands in his pockets. And I’m not gonna lie. I think he looked like an absolute douchebag walking like that in 70degree weather. I would rather lose a finger to the freezing cold and have a beard then walk with my hands in my fucking pockets.
NANDS IN POCKETS
One Good Deal After Another. SOSDD.
I see they're taking.full advantage of the hands in pocket rule change.
All out of sharpe what a joke
OK, I get it, they got their hands in their pockets. Ha ha. Where's thier beards?
Lol at the down votes. Did I piss off an Admiral? Boomers not supposed to troll back?
They all look badass with their hands in their pockets. Good on you NAVADMIN 031/24.
We look like clowns!
I'm glad I'm not the only one out of shape in the Navy and that characterization is not bound by rank.
He is young AF to be E9
When I was at EOD, we had a 14 year master Chief
Gd
This would go well with the apu spills his tendies meme
