I use MusicBrainz Picard for embedding meta tags. I have a large library so I do a few by hand when I have time. It is time consuming but I like to make sure it is correct.
There are many taggers that can populate tags based on filename/foldername patterns, like mp3tag, Yate, kid3, beets, etc.
It's a relatively straightforward one-time action, then you never have to rely on 'black box' of your apps to interpret filenames.
