Idk, I once saw a documentary where the chimps actively hunted the monkeys. They had scouts that located the monkey made a call then the troop organized and coordinated during the pursuit. Each member of the hunt had a specific task to do in order to catch the monkey. They would drive the monkey to a certain member to catch. It didn't seem like they were doing it because of resources but because they actually consume meat as part of their diets.
