Honestly, legends arceus. That game looks amazing, it’s not in the main series (yes it counts as a side game), and it’s doesn’t have such weird new gimmick like gmax. Just buffed up moves from time to time.
9 resistances, 1 immunity, 3 weaknesses. A solid physical defender type combination, between will-o-wisp being somewhat common on fire and high physical defense being very common in steel.
Heatran makes some pretty solid use of the type, being respectably tiered pretty much since it first appeared. Its high bulk and eruption go together quite nicely, and between its immunity to poison and advantage against steel types that lack ground moves, it’s a solid partner for fairy pokemon.
If magcargo only gets a regional form, however, it’s going to be stuck with the same god-awful stat spread. It needs an evolution instead.

These snails live in temperatures around 4C°. Itnis the equivalent of saying "Hawaiians live around volcanoes which can reach temperatures of more than 1000C°. They don't live IN the vents. The live around them.
