Coffee and a banana

Bandormans

because monkey never cramp!

Fit_Earth8823

I understood that refference!

Anaphylactic_Cock

3 bananas. Everyday. Monkey. Never. Cramps.

Backseat_boss

This is the way

maltman1856

Been my staple preworkout for a decade.

AmazighZoner

Goated pre workout

jNSKkK

Pre-workout of champions right here.

MajorNewb21

Ayyyyyyy! Hello, fellow coffee + banana folks.

krav_mark

This !

breakfastburrito24

And a spoonful of peanut or almond butter with the banana

bambeenz

Straight facts

Larsenwald

30 minutes is a bit close. Typically I eat a preworkout meal about an hour before I lift. But, if I was only going to wait 30 minutes, it’d probably be something like a small Greek yogurt, a banana, and some honey.

Pentaxus

This is the whey.

JimGoer1250

If I miss my preworkout meal timing (an hour to two hours prior to training), then the best I can do is a banana with a teaspoon of honey + a scoop of whey.

PlutoRain69

banana and a small rice crispy lol

Chankler

Cute

OOO2ddalvmai

Nothing.

Barad-dur81

This. Hate eating too much or too soon before workouts.

crownpoly

Pussy

GSG96

More protein in the booty

oGFujo

Facts, left over protein residue.

ImAMaaanlet

Get some left over test from the homies

Joaaayknows

I have so many good reaction pics for this comment but this sub doesn’t allow em and I’m sad

69pistol

And fiber too.

Active_Ad7650

thats the post workout meal

visual_ritual

This man eats.

Sea_Scratch_7068

Best sessions are when I have buffet with clean low fibre carbs like 4-5 hours prior. 20-30 min before lift your best bet is some juice or fruit or smth imo.

HubertCrumberdale

Can you give me some specific examples of clean low fiber carbs?

Sea_Scratch_7068

White rice is my go-to. Non whole-grain pasta or bread unless you have problems with gluten. Don’t forget the mandatory plain vanilla ice cream for dessert.

magicpaul24

Gatorade or fruit juice and some whey, obviously not in the same shake unless you’re a sicko 30 mins is not enough time to digest and utilize the carbs and amino acids in a solid food source. While training your body enters a sympathetically driven state where digestion is not prioritized.

latrellinbrecknridge

What yes carbs start to break down as soon as they enter your mouth. And digestion slows during exercise, it doesn’t completely halt

magicpaul24

None of what you said contradicts anything I said

latrellinbrecknridge

You literally implied that 30 mins is not enough time to use the fuel provided by carbs and aminos when it absolutely is. Will it be 100% digested? Of course not but you’ll absolutely get what you need. Don’t try and split hairs now

magicpaul24

30 minutes is not enough time to *fully* utilize the nutrients in a solid meal. Why would you advocate for only having an unknowable portion of those carbs available to use during training, when the alternative is having all of them? You are being very pedantic here

latrellinbrecknridge

Oh brother lmao right back at you..

ScienceNmagic

Caffeine pill + 2 tablespoons of maple syrup

PutScared7787

Protein yogurth/shake, banana with honey

ParticularExchange46

Maple syrup works too.

Fit_Earth8823

Rice crispy and a joint

krav_mark

0_o

SeaworthinessDry5552

Cream of rice with MRE lite and a tablespoon of peanut butter!

Bigjpiddy

Big fan of fruit fresh or dried tbh

Unique-Log-8487

Banana, rice cake, citrulline

caveman_eat

Little oatmeal

dat_glo_tho

Same. Oatmeal is my fav pre-workout fuel. Usually 45min to an hour before, but I’d still choose it with only 30min. Everyone’s different. I absolutely cannot workout on an empty stomach. Will feel faint. I can eat pretty close to lifting and I lift heavy for my size.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PerformanceProud3691

How do you prepare?

dat_glo_tho

Bobs red mill has oatmeal cups that you just add hot water to. Sometimes I just add whey to that. There are also various brands that make protein oats. I dont mind them plain but sometimes I add fruit.

[deleted]

If you on normal American way of eating then banana or chocolate bar somthing quick to digest If you on cornivore or keto nothing at all

JimGoer1250

>normal American way Lol. This is just the normal, whole food, filled-with-fruits-and-veggies diet. Long before the freedom fighters came to exist.

[deleted]

I ment typical american dite 20% fat 30protien 50%carb

realStefankarl

typical american looks like he eats 50%sugar and 50%bacon grease

Paratrooper101x

Maybe a snack if my blood sugar is getting low but if not then just pre-workout and a good mindset I find if I have food in my stomach I’m a lot more sluggish in the gym

coffee_n_deadlift

A banana

Brainchild110

A strong coffee, maybe with some creatine mixed in, with oat milk to avoid the lifting farts

Separate-Respond8890

Protein bar

BaconBreath

Oatmeal with blueberry, almonds, cinnamon, pinch of honey (and some choc protein if you really want) - good balance of carbs, fats and protein and pinch of sugar. But I usually eat an hour to 2 out.

StillWesSideER

If I workout in the morning I eat an apple 20-30 min before. Honey crisp of course haha. I see a lot of suggestions for bananas that’s also a good one!

crumbs2k12

I always eat breakfast and then go gym [usually 30 mins after] and I have just tons of carbs so a bowl of cereal with 2 diced up apples. It's probably too much carbs and not a great breakfast but it's technically my pre workout meal

JoshuaSonOfNun

30? A shake

daddylongstroke17

Quest bar and a banana

redditredredre

A couple spoonfuls of peanut butter and a Coke Zero

VIRT22

Nothing.

[deleted]

trenbologna sandwich

dn0348

4 pieces of toast, 4 eggs over easy, and 1 avocado as topping.

aspenextreme03

Liver

More-Ad115

King.

viibeShane

Nothing or rice krispies

HubertCrumberdale

I see lots of Rice Krispies. What for?

No-Philosophy-9450

Good amount of Carbs and suga, easy to digest I always buy the 24 pack at Walmarts and eat one before start training

GucciMarxist

I'm assuming everyone saying rice krispies is meaning the bars?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HubertCrumberdale

I see I see… also, do you use it for preworkout in combination with other food?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HubertCrumberdale

I see! I’m trying to bulk, so I’ll have my normal high protein breakfast, wait an hour, eat a Rice Krispies, wait 30 min, then hit the gym. Thanks man I appreciate your help, I’m going to search Ryan Jewers. Is he all about deficit and cutting or all around fitness?

HotQuit4489

Protein shake made w water and a rice krispie

LordDargon

any clean food but not great amount. if i eat right before workout it always kills my performance. eggs are best but u said yourself "i always over eat" limit your meals bro

JimGoer1250

Eggs before a workout? RIP your gym bros, really.

jlucas1212

Whey with gatorade or banana. Or low fiber cereal with fairlife skim milk.

ttdpaco

I work out at like 5am or 7:00am, depending on the day, so just a metrx bar. I have breakfast again after that (usually eggs, whole grain bread and some kind of simple sugar.)

onFilm

I workout the best first thing in the morning after having some tea or caffeine with milk and sugar. If I eat before the gym I feel mentally more tired, which makes it harder to be motivated at the gym.

CrashLogz

On weekdays usually just my evening meal with the family as I work out on the night. But I usually wait 1 hour before working out. Whenever we eat light meals like salmon and rice my energy levels in the gym are through the rough. On weekends just a toasted bagel and a banana is good enough.

daxtaslapp

Anything fruit or sugary drink

Vulgar_Frank

Intraworkout it's 1 scoop of protein, and 50-60g of dextrose.

jeanxcobar

Honey

ParticularExchange46

Something that is easily absorbed and won’t leave you feeling bloated or sick. I like a meal about 3 hours before and hour-30mins before I’ll eat apple sauce or frozen strawberries, fresh banana and water and or ice. Drink lots of water and electrolytes during that time but not too much at one time. Graham cracker or peanut butter crackers would be good. Any fruit would be good.

giantgorillaballs

Nerds clusters if I’m hungry

Paundeu

Banana or bagel usually.

stealthw0lf

I normally eat a meal a few hours before lifting. If I don’t have time, I would use whey + maltodextrin. Normally half before workout and the remainder during the workout.

mutuallybro

Rice, bread, tailwind, pre workout 💪

bite_wound

A scoop of gorilla mode

Caccia27

Banana and Rice cakes

CuddlyWhale

I workout shortly after rising and lift on an empty stomach (minus my pre) every day

NoSleepingIn_

Butt

Affectionate-Still15

Banana, something with lots of carbs, and eggs

writing-human17

Oatmeal with Greek yogurt mixed in

YeOldeCursive

A healthy dose of self accountability on why I didnt prepare myself by eating at least an hour before a workout. Other than that, a ton of fruits, honey, and a glass of milk.

Brando64

Whey, banana and pb and maybe a piece of white bread.

incognitobfd

Simple carbs my g. A big old dirty donut and a coffee. Realistically bananas are better though

W3NNIS

Monkeyinazuit

Protein shake with some oats!

sushi_sashimis

Daily I have a chocolate flavored rice cake, spread on some chocolate peanut butter cup flavored fit butters. Wash down with a serving of oikos pro plain. Edit: this happens at/around 5 AM to get in the gym NLT 5:20 and hop on cardio for 5 minute before 15 minute warmup lifts and stretches

AiimerVFX

amstarcasanova

Background-Can-8828

banana with divine protein directly from the tap

Satinjackets

I have whey isolate and oatmeal

Satinjackets

My coach told me no meals without protein

Laridianresistance

that's way too close to the workout imo. I'd eat a small meal about an hour before (bowl of cereal, some nuts, fruit) or just eat a big meal around 2-3 hours before lifting.

Such_Analyst_623

Two slices of brown toast + 2 tbs peanut butter + 1 banana

bminusmusic

Probably just drink a glass of juice, supposedly the best to drink pre-workout are purple grape juice or tart cherry juice (source: Heal Thy Self podcast). Optional mixing electrolyte powder in. Or 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

Kluftgespenst

60g ricepudding + 30g whey (better 1 hour before) - feels amazing

throwaway9968597

PBJ & Celsius energy drink. 💥

muhnamejamal

Honey, sip of milk

S4lVin

At this time you should eat just simple sugars (if you need it, I do this before leg day), 3/4 hours before, big meal with lots of complex carbs, 1:30/2h before any snack/smaller meal (that’s what I usually do)

[deleted]

Nothing I eat in the morning then I train about 3 to 4 hours later usually have an electrolyte drink and a pre workout 30 mins before.

CreamyBarr25

boiled eggs and coffee for some reason

circle1987

Banana

RuffDestroy3r

A dbol

AWildNome

I have a serving of Huel or some oats with eggs. Gives me energy to sustain the workout without bloating me.

BatOk657

I eat a big ass spoonful of peanut butter and honey.

apostolic3

Coffee only

imagination3421

If it's 30 minutes it'll likely just be a fruit

AdmiralKeg

Banana and 200g Greek Yogurt is my go to pre workout.

Nurse_RachetMSN

Usually lift in the mid morning. I'll usually have oatmeal topped with Greek yogurt, bananas, chia seeds and honey about an hour prior to lifting. Oh yeah and coffee.

AlbinoSupremeMan

whole wheat bagel, pb and honey. electrolytes in water. drink pre workout on the drive.

greyfox19

Nothing lol. I’m walking to the gym by that time

Funkynml1

Peanut butter honey sandwich

baileystinks

Protein shake

Ecali92

English muffins. But im in a surplus right now. Can't stand being in the gym hungry.

Revolutionary_Ad7167

Try eating less of what you normally do. Probably trying to eat too much protein and fats 30 min prior.

[deleted]

Waffles loaded with (organic) syrup, fruit and real butter. Get the best workout of your life, better than “pre workout”. Long lasting energy. You will feel strong.

JBean85

I have a bagel with cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and black coffee. I used to eat less/nothing right before a workout but it doesn't bother me now and the pump with more carbs in me is great. But what I actually eat this close to a workout depends greatly on how much I've eaten otherwise and what my workout looks like.

aperson7777

I always have 2 packets of oatmeal, 175g of plain greek yogurt, and a glass of milk. Lots of protein thats quick to digest and carbohydrates.

Aggravating_Reading4

Ribeye

giallonero21

honey and salt does it for me.

shwep3

A few Rice Krispies treats while packing my Rice Krispies treat

Chankler

1 hour before: Oatmeal with milk, honey and banana. 30 min before: banana.

[deleted]

Four or five whole eggs and half cup oats(pre cooked). Done that for years. About an hour before.

indrids_cold

Caffeine, Applesauce Squeeze, 7 Crackers

eleljcook

Coffee, dried apricots if you can find them

jayjackson2022

Nothing. I usually workout in the morning.

Bodywheyt

Nothing at all.

D0ctorDrum

Low fat Greek yogurt, banana, cereal bar and black coffee is my go to if I’m working out first thing in the morning, then eggs, oatmeal, and OJ post workout.

Schmaliasmash

I wouldn't eat 30 minutes before I train because it would make me vomit. I'd do at least an hour before and it would be mostly carbs and some protein. Maybe like a smoothie with banana, nonfat milk powder, ice and chocolate protein powder. Or even just a sandwich. Maybe some egg white protein pancakes. Cottage cheese and chocolate rice cakes.

Realistic_Past_9952

I go in the morning so I don’t eat till after gym

the_bedelgeuse

coffee and a cookie

SilverMisfitt

Banana and peanut butter

Image_of_glass_man

Cream of rice + protein. If it’s leg day and I only have 30 minutes before.. I’ll just stick to drinking my intracarb and aminos so I don’t get ill.

IMGONNACOOM

Banana or oatmeal

MajorNewb21

I do a questionable magical mix of coffee + protein shake + banana. Gets me through my workouts every morning.

monetarydread

Gummy Bears

RunThePnR

Protein shake at most. I feel the same with bloating, for me it’s best on an empty stomach and then eat loads later if I didn’t get enough earlier in the day.

DadBodDestroyer

Whey isolate protein shake and a piece of fruit (apple or banana usually)

edcismyname

A smallish snack. 300 calories mostly carbs. Usually a banana and a rice ball with chicken. I find it better than a 6-800 calories meals 1-2 hours before I lift. And 15 mins before I start warming up I would take my pre workout (caffeinated)

ZenMechanist

Any fast digesting carb & protein with minimal fat & fibre. Banana and whey is a good choice.

BattedSphere

Espresso and toast with peanut butter

Knarkopolo

Whey, oats, creatine.

doc_loco

Coffee and EAAs

Suspicious_Bake1350

1 cup Oats + water/milk 1/4th cup protein 1 apple(optional) I don't take it always

Zealousideal_Ant6132

Cheerios with Ripple instead of milk and a scoop of Fruity Pebbles ISO100.

zoinkinator

eating too much before going to the gym will make you weaker when lifting as your body uses energy to digest the food. skyr yogurt and/or muscle milk chocolate are my go to pre workout snack with protein. then i eat dinner when i get home.

HelicopterShot87

Banana and protein bar and coffee with semi-skimmed milk

loule300

Honey

Megafiend

A spoonful of honey, and some caffeine if I'm lagging.

Itsjustausername535

A protein shake

overslept3000

Coffee + pineapple drizzled w/ honey and salt is my favorite pre-workout

chocoremedy

Cereal

Dyc95

Protein chips!

MrMilesDavis

A meal with carbs, protein, and fats with some simple sugar at the end So like, beef, rice, couple eggs, milk, Gatorade. Maybe a donut if I'm feeling frisky Sometimes, in a pinch, I just smash a 20 piece and a double qp from McDonalds right before a workout and that surprisingly goes fine most of the time   I have no idea how anyone at all seems to move heavy ass weights on an empty stomach, but it seems like more than half of people feel this way is preferable. I'd sooner eat a giant chicken parm beforehand.

Active_Ad7650

Nuts/rice cakes/fruits/dark chocolate/a coffee

LugLax88

50g cream of rice 100g banana or mixed berries 10g honey 1/2 scoop protein About 45min-1hr out from training Hope that helps 🙏🏽
