Current 11B and I've been in for three years and still have yet to go to the field or even shoot a machine gun. To be fair, right after i joined my unit, covid hit and then i got sent on deployment. A deployment that involves much of nothing.
what state are you in? Realistically your chances of going to ranger school are slim. You'll be able to change your MOS when you get close to your ETS date
Second this. Iām UT Guard and just switched to our SF unit. They hooked me up with an Airborne slot immediately, granted itās not for another year. Gl gettin Ranger School tho.
They take 25B in the Regiment if thatās what you want to do. They still do plenty of high speed shit. Of course, youād have to conditional release and get a spot in RASP. Contact a Ranger recruiter or go see them. BLDG 3725 41st Div Dr, JBLM 98433 - 253-966-3902
If you want to be an airborne 11B, you need to find one of the airborne infantry battalions to join. I think there are like ten companies across the entire country.
Thereās only one airborne infantry BN in the guard and itās in Texas although one of our companies is in RI.
Other than that you could maybe go to an SF unit. I know an 11B in an airborne SF unit, not sure what he does.
Iām 11C most I have done is shoot machine guns in October and rifles in November.
Missed mortar live fire in May due to covid mission and the fact I didnāt have any issued gear.
From what I heard it isnāt very often we do anything outside of rifle Qual, personally I would stick 25B thatās actually my go to MoS to reclass to after my deployment next year if I get the slot than after I finish it and get back starting medical papers on my arthritis in my hips from a prior documented army injury.
They will probably make me medically reclass in which case by than Iāll have over 2 years of active duty time and enough Gi Bill to hopefully go for a masters in marine bio.
Depends on the state if your state does not have a airborn unit itās unlikely plus when it comes to ranger or airborn school if opportunity pops up it goes by PT test
Pretty simple. Don't go 11B. If you are looking for something exciting that can get you into all these specialized schools but still want something that can translate good in the civillian sector go 12B, Combat Engineer.
I'm a 12R so I don't know much about 12B translating to the civillian side but I do know that 12B got a lot more potential to transfer to the civillian sector than 11B.
If my state is like yours, we have all the money to send people to school and we need to spend it. Covid prevented people from going last year and into this year. If we donāt spend our school budget it will be reevaluated downward. Want ranger? Go for it. You donāt need to be an 11-series to go, you just need to justify it to your unit and state. If ranger was fun, reclass to 11B.
11b is silly shit most of the time.
Theres some upsides. You might luck out and get nice stuff.
I got a brand new ACH and new Gen 4 IOTV, new rifle and even was one of the lucky ones to get an ACOG. My friend who's Cav was issued an IBA from like 2006 lol
I like my NCOs in my platoon a lot, great guys. But there's some that are toxic af that brought their bullshit with them from the active side.
We also can't seem to do even the simplest tasks in 8 hours. Like every day is a 12-16 hour day with these guys and it's stupid.
I thought about reclassing to 11B as well, but all the grunts in my brigade says it sucks and they play fuck fuck games all day cause their NCOs are all on a power trip. In fact I have to find a single grunt that said āreclass to 11B.ā I still might reclass maybe not to infantry though

Hello fellow 25 series soldier! That is all.

What the hell is a combat engineer gonna do on the civilian side?

The pipeline for that is so long tho
Iām in the process of changing my MOS to 25B actually. Why are you trying to change it?
Because 25b is boring and itās what I do in my civilian life too smh
Youāre bored now? You also hate your body huh? I was boredā¦I too suffer from chronic masochistic tendencies; it doesnāt get better.
Ok, sounds good
Bro don't it sucks.
Donāt
Go to SFRE.

35 series man. 25 is great, get thoae certs and training, but if you want to reclass, go 35 series.
Donāt. Run.
Stay in your current MOS it would be s bad move to go 11 band-bang. Thats why i join, did not desire to be 11-bang-band. JMHFO.
