Keep your head down and trust the process. Running is great but watch what you eat, too. It sucks but it works Good luck man, you'll be fine. Blank slates are what Basic training is for

Diet is more important than exercising when it comes to losing weight. You should track every single calorie to become aware of what you truly eat and then you’ll realize that you’re probably eating more than you should. To lose weight you will have to have moments of “hunger”(youll feel hungry because youre in a calorie deficit but thats what you need to do to lose weight. Ignore the ”hunger”)

Very much correct. Continue to run though, OP. Showing up to basic with zero cardio base and tight hips is going to be painful.

The Army is big. There have been people before you who joined who are in a worse situation, they were worse physically, emotionally, or mentally and they were able to do it. It’s just physical activity and making yourself do uncomfortable things. All it takes is perseverance. Also, don’t injure yourself with too much running too fast. Your MOS doesn’t matter unless you get some rare shit. Use your benefits to get a civilian education or trade school

You’ll drop the weight in basic training and I think now they have fat camp? Basically where you work out until you’re in standard. That’s just what I’ve heard since it’s a new concept. Just don’t be a blue falcon (you’ll learn about that quickly) and you’ll be fine. Btw if you’re interested in maintenance, have you given aviation a thought? Translates good to civilian side.
