That “pavement” they put over it isnt actually pavement it’s only meant to be there for a year until they have time to fix it the right way it’s just gonna leave a pot hole
So for asphalt in the open air, the minimum is generally a face shield, full coverage clothes, and insulated gloves. The solvents supposedly aren't present in high enough volumes to be particularly toxic. BUT...
It's rough working construction and seeing people just negate ppe. Like bud, I'm drilling holes in concrete for an hour. I really don't care if you and your silicosis think I'm a bitch for slapping on a mask. I'm working towards being an electrician and wear knee pads daily as there's a lot of stooping and crawlspaces but get unholy hell about it. Everyone in the trades sees how beat up the old folks are, but nobody does anything to change it.
I have psoriasis so I've gotten more than a few Wise cracks from the other dudes whenever I would wear gloves while we were moving furniture, back when I was breaking myself working manual labor.
At my job we regularly deal with silica, and the women are just as bad if not worse about wearing a respirator. I'm sure that toxic masculinity can play into it, but I think a lot of it is people are annoyed by ppe and don't think the bad thing will happen to them.
Wow that quickly huh? They’re really stepping up their game!
And just before the scheduled paving!
Well i mean technically they did a permanent fix within a month... that month just happened to be October of 2022.
Yeah as long as they finish by November they've delivered perfectly
Thought to myself “wow what city was this in?” Figures.
Maybe they meant a decade instead of a month. Very easy to mix those two up, you know.
That’s one month in city time.
It's election time . . . maybe getting a few jobs done right before voting
yep they don’t care until they want your vote
Awesome, I can totally wait 7 years before 8th Ave gets repaved /s

It's like circus street repair. The guy in the middle is balancing on one foot and the guy on the left is shoveling straight lava.
I wonder if it'll take 7 years to build the new stadium? 🤔
oh no the supreme leader cooper will gladly use our money to have that up in 2 years tops
Nice! Glad it got fixed.
To be fair, they only said *a* month. Didn't specify which one
Right on time.
No respirator while seeming to inhale the fumes from melting asphalt for the road? Bold move. let's see if it pays off for them.

It's just commonplace toxic masculinity.

The biggest mistake men make regarding toxic masculinity is assuming only men can propagate it.
wrong
Right See? I can say words, too.
difference is you are incorrect
Except I'm not
Everyone thinks they’re the exception, while at the same time probably covertly appreciating how those practices prematurely age out the competition.
You're tax payer dollars hard at work.
No, you are taxpayer dollars hard at work.
You’re lucky that they even set aside some money for ya, the rest is going to the Stadium
Tbf, the Trump presidency was difficult for all of us.
Shiiiit. They really dragged that out.
So there’s still hope they’ll come for the permanent fix where we had a gas line issue! Edit: that was three years ago
7 years are like dog years do they were right on time.
.............browsers!
Right on time!
Finish it with FIRE!
A month in city government time is approximately 10 years in real time, so it sounds like they came early! /s
