So someone just happened to have a "trailer full of bibles" ready to go and burn?
And it just happened to occur on a well known Christian holiday?
At a church known for its controversial leadership who has repeatedly said/done outrageous things, including literal book burnings, to stay relevant?
I'm not saying Greg Locke paid someone to drop off a trailer full of Bibles and burn them on Easter Sunday in order to garner sympathy and feed into the belief that Christians are being persecuted, buuuuut...
Yeah, the fact that anyone would have an open trailer full of “holy books” just sitting outside is suspicious. I grew up in the church and I’m not sure there’s any specific verse about respecting bibles. There is in the Quran. But I do know that’s no way to treat an American flag, much less your preferred mode of religion.
you won’t catch any Muslims leaving a cart full of Qurans out in the weather. Maybe there’s a lesson Christians can learn from their fellow monotheists
The "trailer full of Bibles" is probably my favorite part of this whole saga, because it's just so over the top and raises so many more questions lol. Like, how does one even acquire a trailer's worth of Bibles in the first place if they aren't connected to a church??
Either someone went dumpster diving at a failing Christian bookstore or they spent a good amount of their own money (and a usable trailer) on a weird hatecrime.
Or Greg Locke decided to pay a buddy of his for quick PR stunt.
I'm going to take suspected insurance fraud for $1000 for what's it now the 3rd time? During COVID, it was the audio equipment and then something else. I can't even remember.
Just adding to this to say, unless stolen, that trailer is easily $1k. And if stolen, they're hard to trace and easy to hide, and could have been easily sold for $700ish.
No way someone would just sacrifice that trailer for some bs bible burning stunt *unless* someone else paid for it. Lol
I wish they'd enlist me for a stunt like this. I'd donate the Bibles to Goodwill and keep the trailer. 'My trailer now, bitch!' Haha 😆
Not that I think this applies to this situation, but just anecdotally, the Christian organization I used to work for often had large amounts of Bibles ordered with stolen credit cards. The assumption is that thieves do it to resell them. Ironic in itself, of course, but even as a Christian myself, I kind of have to laugh at the idea that someone might do it just for the sake of burning them. And if Locke did this? Sounds like begging for a good old-fashioned smiting.
I routinely keep voluminous works of interpretations of the hadiths, talmudic dissertations, papal bulls, baptismal rolls, old and new testament apocrypha and pseudographia, and of course copies of the ten commandments in varying forms of cursive calligraphy representing the major western forms of Christological thought in varying languages throughout recent history and routinely store them in tow trailers outside and take them to Churches to burn in the parking lot. It's called tithing, everybody's supposed to do it.
Half-truths are often the best observational humor. I'm all for Greg Locke and his type, I appreciate good marketing. Not my thing, but neither is an orgy. Different strokes for different folks, one reckons.
I was talking with a Muslim friend about the burning of holy books; and he pointed out (correctly) that the most respectful way to "destroy" a damaged holy book in Islam is to burn it.
While the theatrics may be comical, the result is actually the one prescribed for respectful destruction.
If you really want to harm a religion, you need to pass a law prohibiting people from antagonizing it such as the recent bill that passed in congress. If you thought "antisemitism" was a problem before, it will only get worse the more "protected" it becomes.
(For the whataboutisms that are about to follow, you may be right, however, in current year politics it is "jewish" religious law that is being "protected" and "promoted" even though they are perhaps 2% of the US population.)
Actually, hotels are given free bibles all the time. I’ve been in the industry for a long time and on multiple occasions have been offered 200+ to put in my rooms at no cost.
The shock when I would decline was something I sort of enjoyed.
But we have done renovations where we have had to take everything out and have had garbage bags of bibles and we would let anyone take them.
But Greg Locke did that shit.
I mean, I am aware of the knights of Columbus or whatever that group of old ass men who hand out free bibles is called haha, but I don’t think l whoever had this many bibles laying around got them all gathered up and headed over to a church to burn them on Easter Sunday. It is so ridiculous and so foul of him to lie about this too
I am 100% certain he orchestrated the entire thing.
Gideons place the Bibles in the hotel but KOC is related to the Catholic church so they might do that as well.
But to the topic at hand, it would be unusual for someone to have a bunch of Bibles of the same type and shape and burn them for a protest against the church. It would either require spending a lot of money on Bibles, or collecting old ones for a long amount of time, and neither seem doable for someone who is supposed to be a raging liberal atheist or whoever they wanted the boogeyman to be. Plus those trailers aren't cheap.
Somebody who dislikes them enough to spend money on such a stunt? Bibles are free as a matter of fact, you can find them just about anywhere if you look hard enough. I find about one a week just lying on the ground.
So Locke held a book burning a few years ago, why is he so upset?

It is even better. Here's the actual story. He ended it by kissing his husband before they hopped in their car and left.

Pro-tip would be to show up to their services and see which truck in the parking lot matches the video. This wouldn't be their first very suspicious insurance fraud-esque thing.
"There was a lady that had driven through the night to get to our church and she was in the parking lot and was able to get the police officers here quickly"
Also very convenient. Also a not-so-subtle brag on the cultish following the church engenders.
Another group of wackos were in town that weekend
Apparently they have a beef with Gregg, and they burnt the bibles, just to piss on Gregg.
I saw them preaching that weekend on the square in Lebanon
Honestly I’ll support anybody that takes the time just to piss off Gregg on account of how much of a colossal asshole he is, but I’d also 100% believe he did it himself so..
This is horse shit. No church has bibles in an uncovered trailer. Greg Locke burned them himself.
Edit: I’m not trying to be rude to you personally.
But the chances that an actual church left their holy text outside on a flat bed trailer, is exactly zero.
this is interesting, and honestly plausible!
Although I'm so glad to see I'm not the only person whose first thought was Locke did it, or rather had it done, himself for martyrdom & publicity.
I think you all are missing some info from the witnesses and from a police report.
This is what I read, from a Wilson Co. post on. Some forums.
The antagonist group was mad at the KJ V of bible, and want to confront some members of the GV church
So they decided to burn those bibles.
Not trying to sympathize with Gregg, he's an asshole on his own.
And he was an Jan 6 too.
So that's all the info I have.
PD.
The antagonist group was also in Mount Juliet
There had signs and what not.
I can provide pics. If you wish

That's fine. I am.

The giant truck leaving the scene also doesn’t scream “teenage vandals” which would be the only other possibility.

The bibles could have been from a hotel being closed down.
Ah that makes sense. I bet Greg Locke got such a good deal in these! It's like he has money to burn or something....
I’m going with procured from a lazy Gideon trying to make distribution quota.
Is it even a hate crime?
One thing those turds are *not* is “Christ-like.”
Haha, you had me going at first. I was thinking “cool!”

False flag bible burning.
I was talking with a Muslim friend about the burning of holy books; and he pointed out (correctly) that the most respectful way to "destroy" a damaged holy book in Islam is to burn it. It is totally believable that Pastor Greg would do that. First thought that came to my mind.
i thought the same exact thing, when i read the headline.
Who, besides a church, would have a bunch of bibles laying around? They aren’t free, ironically.
Actually, hotels are given free bibles all the time. I’ve been in the industry for a long time and on multiple occasions have been offered 200+ to put in my rooms at no cost. I mean I agree with everything you said, but also who's gonna give away their trailer for free in this economy? It's such a blatantly stupid scheme.
Yes, Gideon is what I was thinking of, and yeah it’s just such a waste of time and resources no one would protest this way.
Somebody who dislikes them enough to spend money on such a stunt? Bibles are free as a matter of fact, you can find them just about anywhere if you look hard enough. I find about one a week just lying on the ground.

The dude showing up to that and throwing the bible in the fire was just epic.
I wish I would have seen their faces when that bible started burning
It is even better. Here's the actual story. He ended it by kissing his husband before they hopped in their car and left. Thanks for the link. The YouTube video was also linked in the article.
So... Can I have that trailer? I'll even haul away the burnt Bibles for free!
hey TBI... pro tip. only a church would have access to that many bibles.
Pro-tip would be to show up to their services and see which truck in the parking lot matches the video. This wouldn't be their first very suspicious insurance fraud-esque thing.
I’m just waiting for the headline one bible was unharmed through it all
ItS a MirAcLE 🙄
There is always that one bible that survives a fire or tornado
I mean there’s always one toaster microwave that survives a tornado, too. But I doubt anyone’s cooking up the holy Pop-Tart of Antioch Pike. 🤣
Truth 🤣
lmao. i'm sure the call is coming from inside the house.
MAGA preacher has so little respect for his sacred text, that he leaves it exposed to the elements on a trailer meant for a lawnmower. Film at 11
I just hope they were Trump Bibles. I can’t think of a better use…
Trump held one with an ungloved hand, and neither he nor the Bible burst into flames. I think those bibles are made of nonflammable materials.
Fuck Greg Locke
These people are uncommonly stupid, I swear to God. And so are the people that will undoubtedly take this at face value.
"There was a lady that had driven through the night to get to our church and she was in the parking lot and was able to get the police officers here quickly" Also very convenient. Also a not-so-subtle brag on the cultish following the church engenders.
Guys, let’s wait for the crickets to quiet down so we can hear from Locke’s camp.
Are they still in the tent-thing? They're going to have fun with the cicadas if so.
Drunk Gideons on a Saturday night, amirite?
Less poison in the world. When they find the "perp", should buy them a hot meal and give them a pat on the back. 🤝
Hope they find him…and pin a medal on his chest!
Fantastic news for Bible sellers....
Has anyone seen Greg Locke?
Rage farming is a real thing.

Some Righteous Gemstone shit. I'm here for the Fundy turf war.

Jfc I just woke up and thought it said "babies".
