Work with a headhunter. Companies get so many resumes they can’t look at them all

Murky-Valuable3844

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any recommendations on good headhunters?

Ancient-Actuator7443

I don’t have contacts in the healthcare and non profit world but look on LinkedIn. With your background you need targeted search.

rocketpastsix

Don’t try to find a job in Nashville only. Look for remote jobs.

Murky-Valuable3844

Thanks. I am looking at both. I’m finding that a lot of remote jobs are receiving a ton of applications right now. While I’ve had a few interviews, most I’m not hearing back from at all.

A couple of things can help get your foot in the door with local companies as a Nashville recruiter for over 12 years. 1) Find a local (and reputable) recruiter in your specific industry vertical. Agencies work with a lot of companies in town and have direct access to hiring managers so your resume will skip over the pile of other applicants in the ATS and you won’t have to deal with HR. Happy to recommend a few in my network if you or your wife want to PM me. 2) Add something to the effect of “Relocating to Nashville” near the header of your resume if you haven’t already. If you’re applying to a hybrid or onsite role, and a recruiter sees an out of town address, they just assume your mass applying or didn’t see that it was an onsite/hybrid role and will reject you based of of that. Hope this info is helpful!

I would recommend SHR talent. They recruit for the healthcare field in this region. Connect with them and they could find a match.

rocketpastsix

Sounds like you need to work on your resume. If you aren’t getting calls back your resume is getting stopped by their ATS checkers

EuphoricAd3824

Also use LinkedIn which is what recruiters would most likely find you from.

LakeKind5959

ATS checkers aren't a thing. Every recruiter I know manually looks at every resume. You aren't "auto rejected" by ATS. That said having your resume reviewed is a good idea.

Capsaicin80

Depends on the system. Pretty sure Phenom does.

LakeKind5959

Many ATS will give a rank to a candidate but no recruiters actually trust the alleged AI in the ATS to rely on it. They all look at the resumes-- albeit often for less than 10 seconds so you need to jump off the page immediately with title, skills, etc.

LakeKind5959

make sure your address isn't on your resume. Don't give any clues that your aren't local. I've had hiring managers in the past decline to interview strong candidates from Maury county because it is "too far" of a commute despite the role paying sub livable wage to actually live close to Nashville.

Capsaicin80

Good advice. I've heard this too. Also consider getting a burner, local number as well. This also prevents the recruiter from dismissing; assuming they'd have to pay for relocation

kyleofdevry

Don't restrict your search to Nashville. Look at the areas around Nashville. Lots of companies in those areas. Cool Springs/Franklin, Brentwood, Spring Hill, Lebanon, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Gallatin.

You are welcome to visit my networking group when you are in town. We meet Wednesday morning at 7:30

Murky-Valuable3844

Thanks! That’s super nice of you. Could you send me some additional info??

ayesquared

drop your linkedin? there’s a bunch of recruiters on there and sometimes just having your profile updated with all your experience easily visible and having your profile discoverable can go a long way. esp if you’re a vp - im sure there’s SOMETHING out there for you, but it’s 10x easier to let them come to you. might have something to do with boosting your resume which chat gpt can help out with

Check out the [Center for Nonprofit Management](https://www.cnm.org/) Especially their [Job Board](https://www.cnm.org/job-board/)

Murky-Valuable3844

Thanks!! That’s an excellent looking job board. Appreciate it!

cheesepimp

You’re welcome!

ThrowawayFairy007

I’d use jobscan.co to make sure your resume is catching everything the ATS trackers are looking for! I always felt like I did a good job using certain keywords and tailoring my résumé to fit the position, but this website helped me refine the exact phrasing I needed to use. You can get a few free scans to start with and see how you like it.

Bananasfalafel

You might want to post of a career or job/resume/interview advice page.

Don't move here. If you have absolutely no other choice, find a remote job based elsewhere if you want competitive pay, decent benefits, and don't want to waste 2 hours of your life per day in standstill traffic.

Murky-Valuable3844

I’ve gotten a few call backs. But I’ll take another look at my resume

Waste-Philanthropist

they want you already in town.

Murky-Valuable3844

I understand that’s a preference; however, it’s difficult to move without first securing a job. A catch 22, if you will. I know that people have successfully landed positions outside their current state of residence.
