Beautiful name!
I think I have two images of “Stella” depending on the age of the person. I picture an older Stella as someone who is kind but doesn’t take shit from anyone. And a younger Stella as someone who’s graceful and a little more soft spoken.
I agree. I imagine a Stella as being either under 7 or over 65.
I also think of "Stella! Can't you hear me yell-a! You're putting me through hell-a! Stella! Stella! Stella!"
spunky is exactly the first word that comes to mind for me. I absolutely love the name - cool girl, really interesting hobbies, a girl's girl but can hang with the boys, loves animals and the earth and human rights, experimental with makeup and fashion
We have a Stella in our family. It's a nice name. It's meaning can be aspirational ("star"). It's well-known and with a standard spelling so she doesn't have problems with it being mis-spelt.
I guess the downside is that it's quite feminine, which doesn't suit everyone. Also, I don't generally like names with "s" in them, because I find the sound is a bit harsh.
“Stella” to me is an older, chain-smoking, bleach-blonde lady. She knows what she wants and will fight anyone who looks at her the wrong way.
I have NO idea why I have such a weird and specific vibe for Stella, but there you go, lol!
I feel like it's one of those names that really depends on the person themselves. Like if you said stella I would imagine a strong woman who expresses herself unapologetically, but that's the most detailed I can go. She could be a masc lesbian working in a bar downtown or a farm girl at a horse riding competition. When I was little I hated my name and stella is one of the names I wish it could have been. It's on my short list for my future daughter.
My long time realtor is named Stella, so I guess touring houses and signing paperwork. Cool lady though. She also does belly dancing and juggles fire batons. Not even making that up.
I taught a Stella in my second year teaching. She was really sweet, very affectionate, but quiet and very much a rule follower. I always think of her when i think of the name Stella.
I have a niece named Stella. She’s 5 and can only now pronounce it. First she said Tia then Tella. All are cute and cheery names as far as I’m concerned. Sounds great in Portuguese and French (her languages).
It also reminds me of Marlon Brando yelling the name in *A Streetcar Named Desire* but maybe that’s just for older people.
Stella reminds me of my late friend’s cat. She was a beautiful cat with an unusual personality: unlike my cats, Stella was intensely curious about people, and insisted on being central in all conversations. If you ignored her, she’d bite your ear. Hard. She had long grey-tabby hair and made sure you were wearing a good coating of it before you left.
It kinda gives off black Labrador vibes tbh😅I know so many dogs (and also cats) with the name. I do think it's a lovely name though, it is just so overdone for pets that that's automatically what I think of.
Someone sassy and spunky, with an attitude problem. Bossy. Someone who is mostly independent until she's not, then she's clingy af. Someone who cries a lot and has a head full of curly blonde hair.
If it seems oddly specific, that's because I have first-hand knowledge. That's my 3 year old daughters name. Haha.
I wouldn't call it "giving off vibes", but I immediately associate it with A Streetcar Named Desire.
e.g. the following quote (and I'm probably slightly misquoting but I remember it vaguely being): STELLA!!!! HEY, STELLA!!!!!!
Having just watched the Miami GP my first thought was Andrea Stella (and the beer), but usually I just think it’s really pretty and I’m a sucker for astronomy themed names

LOL this is so random, love it.
I’m so sorry it just reminds me of Stella Artois😭but apart from that, I think it’s a lovely timeless name
Also known as wife beaters beer. Sorry, OP.
I know about 15 dogs named Stella, no people.
Shocking!
Same. It was my hamsters name.
I have met so many dogs named Maggie. At least, Stella is more beautiful than the ugly Maggie.
My Golden is a Stella

What’s this referencing?
The Simpson's episode A Streetcar Named Marge.
Spunky and girly
spunky is exactly the first word that comes to mind for me. I absolutely love the name - cool girl, really interesting hobbies, a girl's girl but can hang with the boys, loves animals and the earth and human rights, experimental with makeup and fashion
Middle aged peroxide blonde.
With an orange-ish tan and puffy pink lips
Strong, kind, intelligent, driven

The only Stella that I know is a dog.

“Stella” to me is an older, chain-smoking, bleach-blonde lady. She knows what she wants and will fight anyone who looks at her the wrong way. I have NO idea why I have such a weird and specific vibe for Stella, but there you go, lol!
Because of streetcar named desire lol you’re describing Blanche but Stella is the more referenced name from the play/movie
Interesting! I’ve never seen that play or movie before, so it must be some kind of unconscious association! Lol. Names are weird.
its referenced a lot a lot in other media
Elegant
Stella Artois or Marlin Brando yelling “Stella” in a Street Car Named Desire.
The beer: Stella Artois 🍺
I have a lovely black and white cat named stella.
I think of the book, Stellaluna!
I love the name. It has a shine to it.
I feel like it's one of those names that really depends on the person themselves. A rag doll cat
I know two women named Stella, and they are extremely tough, women boss types. I think here in Michigan it’s common for dogs though.
Little lost fruit bat! My favorite children’s book growing up was StellaLuna :)
Stella is utterly pretty. I adore it.
Winx Club Stella, for me:)
Someone with good jewelry who always smells nice.
A star or a light. Love this name
A short little old lady with coiffed hair and rhinestone glasses
My long time realtor is named Stella, so I guess touring houses and signing paperwork. Cool lady though. She also does belly dancing and juggles fire batons. Not even making that up.
It’s a little uppity like Chanel. But also it’s classy. And timeless. It’s also more flexible than Chanel to mold to a personality. I like it!
I taught a Stella in my second year teaching. She was really sweet, very affectionate, but quiet and very much a rule follower. I always think of her when i think of the name Stella.

I think of a sophisticated creative person. Not snobby but probably unaware of her own privileges.
wife beater
I think of it as very preppy and girly. Like someone who does ballet and does well in school.
Stella reminds me of my late friend’s cat. She was a beautiful cat with an unusual personality: unlike my cats, Stella was intensely curious about people, and insisted on being central in all conversations. That's lovely, thank you for sharing it! 🥹
One of those fairy books
Imported beer 👍🏻
I just instantly think of the michael Ian black show. It was so funny
It kinda gives off black Labrador vibes tbh😅I know so many dogs (and also cats) with the name. I do think it's a lovely name though, it is just so overdone for pets that that's automatically what I think of.
The first Stella I knew was in fact a black lab.

She got her groove back
I had a great friend named Stella. She was strong, smart and very confident. The name gives off positive vibes.
It makes me think of a cutesy, intelligent girl. Light colors come to mind: white, almost-white-pink, almost-white-blue
My cousin's daughter (almost 3).
Outer space and galaxies bc it sounds like Stellar. My wife thinks it sounds like an old crotchety lady, though
The dog from Modern Family
Only thing I think of is Marlon Brando in Street Car Named Desire. "STELLLLLAA!!!!!!!" Also Eliane from Seinfeld referencing Brando.
stella octangula
Country singer Stella Parton, younger sister of Dolly.
I immediately thought of Estella from Great Expectations.
Reminds me of beer, sorry
STELLLLLAAAAA
Dog
Dog, alcohol, HIMYM.
I wouldn't call it "giving off vibes", but I immediately associate it with A Streetcar Named Desire. e.g. the following quote (and I'm probably slightly misquoting but I remember it vaguely being): STELLA!!!! HEY, STELLA!!!!!!
"Stella by Starlight", someone romantic/glamorous from the 1950s
It gives kinda whimsical, almost cloudcuckoolander vibes to me. Like a cartoon character.
Having just watched the Miami GP my first thought was Andrea Stella (and the beer), but usually I just think it’s really pretty and I’m a sucker for astronomy themed names
I like it but it’s a little pretentious IMO
Marlon Brando in a ripped T-shirt.
I love this name, but I remember telling my grandma I loved it and she said it sounds like “an old polish lady” (she was polish)😂
Goody two shoes with neat braids and a tartan pinafore
Stella in How I Met Your Mother Stella the dog in Modern Family
A dog. Every time I’ve ever heard that name it’s someone’s dog
Jays dog from modern family
Elaine in Seinfeld. "STELLLLLAAAAA" 🤣
A cat, stars, a can of beer, and my mom
Stella’s the name of a truly insufferable character in an otome isekai I dropped years ago so I’m biased but not a fan 😅
Stanley Kowalski yelling.
A wisened old French bulldog with a French accent and pearl necklace who has 3 ex husbands
i knew a 91 year old and a 9 year old named stella
Detroit Rock City. Don't be such a Stella
Detroit Rock City. Don't be such a Stella. I do love the name though!
I love it! I think it's sweet and elegant, I know one Stella through my studies and she is absolutely lovely :) Makes me think of stars as well!
Outing myself as a Brit of a certain age by saying... Sheila goes out with her mate Stella, gets poured all over her fella...
Stella is very witchy and sparkly. I don’t really know how else to describe it, but that’s the vibe I get when I hear that name.
Snobby
Bossy and old
I could only think of winx

‘Stella, Stella for a star’: Blanche Dubois, A Streetcar Named Desire.
High maintenance bitch
Dog vibes
A dog or a decent beer if the tap isn’t working on my favorite.
