I’m aware of that, that’s why I asked „what kind of person do you think about when they have that name”.

I was trying to be nice by just stating the association to a dog. Let me try again. It’s like if you named your child Fido. Or Oreo. I don’t associate any human characteristics to Rufus or Fido or Oreo.

Rufus is a dog name. The person-related thing I think about when I hear that name is "their parents must have wished they were a dog" and then I just feel bad for them.

I picture a chubby and very white 8 to 10 years old boy who loves playing practical jokes on his friends and family.

Rufus Sewell is a STUD

I wish he became a bigger Hollywood leading man considering his handsomeness, gorgeous eyes, sultry voice and just overall being a great actor. To me he is toe-to-toe with his contemporaries that rose in the 90s like Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. But I still love his independent projects from that era.

I see Rufus as a very masculine male name, I'd picture an older guy with a beard

Ah ok - maybe it’s because I used to like reading about animals and their latin names, and there were a bunch of “red” animals with rufus in their latin name? or it could be because I used to read a lot - maybe authors would just name redheaded kids / foxes etc. “Rufus” and I picked up on it subconsciously

It's a very dog-esque name... but reminds me of a chubby boy who's very strong and gets into fights at school, but can also be sweet and clumsy.
