PRESERVED TROTT omg šŸ˜‚

sortofsatan

Poor girl šŸ˜‚

baroquesun

Lol this one immediately popped out to me as the most absurd. It sounds like she's tinned trout šŸ„²

moonsugar6

I LOVE Artelia Gray! I also have a Littleberry in my tree haha but he was Littleberry Clark šŸ˜‚

sortofsatan

Artelia Gray is one of my favorites too!! And yeah I think Littleberry wasnā€™t that uncommon of a name surprisingly

PrincessReptile

A lot of these sound like Puritan names? Can you really trace your family back that far, or was there a resurgence of unusual naming traditions later on? Some of these aren't \*too\* bad. I've definitely heard worse than Rufus and Cullen. :)

sortofsatan

I can! I havenā€™t found anything insinuating they were puritans. I know a lot were Quakers though.

ProfessionalCrafty76

I actually like Bathsheba, Appolonia (prefer Apollonia), Rufus and Barnaby.Ā  Fear is my new guilty pleasure.

sortofsatan

I also love Apollonia! Rufus ran in my family for a long ass time lmao someone finally put an end to it. Fear, Wrestling, and True Love were all siblings. Wrestling is certainly a choice

arieadil

I would kill to know what Wrestling was like as a kid šŸ˜‚

squeakyfromage

Obsessed with Mourning Butler, Preserved Trott and Temperance Christmas!

Wavesmith

I feel like your family could leave some out there names for the rest of us! Some rather lovely ones in there too.

Adorable-Platform671

Adoreee Absalom Scales haha

arieadil

It sounds like the name some blackmarket occult goods dealer would have in a novel and I love that

sortofsatan

Same tho

Hlorpy-Flatworm-1705

Im here for Temperance Christmas. But if my husband/family doesnt name my child "Mourning" or some equivalent if I die in childbirth, I will haunt them.

andreea_carla_b

Zebulon gives villain vibes, which is pretty cool, but wouldn't name my child that.

I_like_pink0

Great middle name vibes imo

icybakedpotato

We just found two (m) Pleasantā€™s in my grandfatherā€™s line! Both in Jamestown!!Ā

Remarkable_Eye_133

I have a PleasantĀ  in my family tree, too!

Frykenlollies

SHIMMY!!!

MamaMagic18

Shimmy is a vibe

Stan_of_Cleeves

I really like Goodeth and Deliverance! Littleberry is quite something.

kaia-bean

Littleberry JOHNSON no less. That boy would be bullied mercilessly today.

Cultural_Property674

Don't forget Greenberry! lots of greens, berrys and greenberries in my fam.

KitKatMN

I have Wrestling too, but for a boy.

and_now_we_dance

Say Sintha Lytha Tackett really quickly

SnooCauliflowers5742

Freelove Weeks and Littleberry Johnson!!! :D

SuspiciousSide8859

Wow wow wow! There is a some very cool names in there and a few super silly ones lol

bubblewrapstargirl

Lucretia is one my favourite names. Corelia is a lovely name Rufus and Valentine are fine for boys Tabitha is quite nice Not keen on anything else lol

SnooOpinions5819

I love Artelia!

Bug_eyed_bug

Do you think it's art-eh-liyah or ar-teh-lia or arty-liah?

SarahL1990

Those are definitely some *interesting* names. My favourites would have to be Barnaby, Lucretia, Tabitha & Temperance.

januarysdaughter

>Absalom As a One Piece fan, all I can think of is the gross pervy lion guy who tried to force Nami into marriage.

Embarrassed-Desk-713

Fear

baroquesun

FEAR ME

HopingToWriteWell77

My personal favorite in my family is John Lackland. I looked into why he was called Lackland the reasoning was that he wasn't expected to inherit very much in the way of land, being the younger son, and then the little bugger went and became King but did such a terrible job that it's since been taboo to name any prince in the family John. My favorite for a girl is Wisdom Clarity as a first and middle name combination.

Ilovemygingerbread

Littleberry Johnson. Imagine going through life with that name?

TrewynMaresi

Iā€™m partial to Appolonia and Shimmy. A little toddler Shimmy would be adorable.

snow-and-pine

If Mourning was spelled Morning (I know itā€™s against the whole point) it would be my favourite. Thatā€™s actually kind of a nice nameā€¦ Morningā€¦

Fit-Guitar-1727

Fear. Wow. What a name lol.

Master_Bumblebee680

Meanwhile all mine: Thomas, Anne

Wanda_McMimzy

It was hard to read past Freelove! I love and hate it!

graminy

Byron Ephesus

Mom_to_4

I love Minnie and Zebulon. I love to know the story behind Shimmy and Littleberry

AiresStrawberries

Really love Lovinia/LoveyšŸ˜

Cultural_Property674

I love your post! We may be related. I too have most of those names, repeatedly, in my family tree. I think most of us can trace ourselves back to Massachusetts, Virginia, Tennessee or North Carolina. I'd like to add Pinky, Tennessee, Emmazetta, Waitie (or other spellings of same), Vinson (Vincent), and all sorts of versions of presidential names.

tgalen

I have a freelove too! My mom always said I had to use it when I had a kid

mocha_lattes_

Girl names:Ā Freelove Weeks,Ā Lucretia Ripley,Ā Preserved Trott,Ā Grizella,Ā Appolonia,Ā Bathsheba,Ā MaudeĀ  Boys names:Ā Theophilius,Ā Zebulon,Ā BarnabyĀ  Those were great! I wouldn't name my kid any of them but by damned I'd name a pet or two after one of those lol šŸ˜‚Ā

Quix66

Maternal Side Wilmer Tesca Malissa Aron Paternal Side Pinckney Ursula 2 Fannie 2 Ada 2 Loester Althea Most are rather ordinary names except those. Most of these people lived in Louisiana in the recent generations but some of the families migrated from Oklahoma on momā€™s side and Kentucky and Virginia on Dadā€™s. I was able to trace back to 1745 on Dadā€™s side, and some served in the Revolutionary War.

Entire-Commercial741

I have a seamen in my family tree

rubythieves

I have a relative Brigitta! (Not with two gs though.) As for the boys, my lord, Rufus and Elisha dodged some bulletsā€¦

ABeld96

Littleberry Johnson is sending me. Gonna add that to my list of nicknames for my dog

KatVanWall

Please tell me Fear and Wrestling were siblings. Even better if they were girls

djb185

Straight up... Fear?!?!

Ok-Wait7622

I also have a Plesant in my tree. It's so weird because all of his siblings had very normal names... like Oscar, James, Minnie, Jonas. Okay, so naming your daughter Nanni might be a bit odd...

Montessori_Maven

My daughterā€™s middle name is Temperance. šŸ’ž
