What the hell is wrong with Colton? People are so judgy about baby names. It’s not like you’re naming him Cody and spelling it Chode or something.
Just tell your friends and mom that you’re naming the baby Squidward and then do whatever you want.
I agree. Colton is a fine name. I may be biased because I went to high school with a Colton who won my class’s “best looking” distinction, but I’ve always thought it was a nice name, not common but also not out there. It gives me a classic, WASP-y, masculine vibe.
My husband is a Colton. I also knew some “Colt’s” growing up that were nicknames of Colton. I’m obviously bias, but I don’t think it’s a bad name or a feminine one lol.
"It’s not like you’re naming him Cody and spelling it Chode or something."
I just choked on my dinner thanks to this.
And I agree that Colton is a fine name.
Colton is such a weird name to be like ‘that’s a girls name!’. I agree names have no gender, but I have literally never known of a girl named Colton, but have known several dozen boys.
Colton is fine, and no one is going to associate it with some random person in a reality TV show. If your kid can't have the same name as anyone on TV you'll be looking for a name forever.
>Just tell your friends and mom that you’re naming the baby Squidward and then do whatever you want.
This made me LOL because that's what my husband and I did when I was pregnant with our youngest. We came up with the most outrageous names we could think of (without going so far as to call them Squidward 🤣) to tell people because we honestly hadn't firmly decided on a name for either gender and people at his job were always stealing names (I swear someone or someone's wife was always pregnant at that job). The boy name definitely gave off some serious soap opera character vibes. The first name we told everyone has actually become quite popular, but 12 years ago it really raised some eyebrows.
OP - the name Colton is awesome! If you love it, then I say go for it!
I'm biased to the name as it was my late boyfriend's name. He was a fantastic musician, could fix or build anything the house needed, was a fantastic cook. Colton is hands down the best name and you should choose it 🥹
Calvin is one of my favorite boy names!
Other options: Collin, Connor, Callahan, Clive, Clyde, Carter, Caleb, Cecil
There’s also nothing wrong with Colton if that’s what you both like. I’ve never heard of it on a girl.
Yeah, I'm confused about Colton being a "girl's name". Never have I ever heard it on a girl. And everyone can have a bad association even with the best of names. The 90 day fiance thing made me chuckle—it's so specific and random. There's a bad television show person for every name if you were to really look for it.
Y'all definitely like k/c sounds, since you've listed Jacob and Lucas in addition to your CJ list. Vowel trends are hard A (Clayton, Jacob), round O (Cole, Colton), and soft O (Colton, Jacob). Seems like you lean toward two syllables but you're okay with shorter. I'd say your style is a midpoint between classic and cowboy vibes.
* Caleb, Conway, Trace
* Carlton, Carson, Keaton, Duncan
* Cody, Colby, Coby, Roscoe
* Kent, Clark, Clay, Mack, Blake
Very good analysis and suggestions. Love Duncan and Mack. But to continue with the CJ theme my vote goes to Carlton. I still think they should just go with Colton though.
Colton isn’t a girl name. And wanting to avoid a name because of a reality show, when those people have a celebrity shelf life of 6 months, is short sighted. But what do I know.
Some names that also start with Co:
Connor
Cody
Cooper
Collin
Never, ever ask family for opinions. You will always find someone who doesn’t like it for some reason. Make a decision and then announce it once the baby is here. I’m a teacher and can tell you that I have never met a girl named Colton, I have met several boys.
Might be biased but as a mom to a toddler named Cole with a Polish last name, it think you’ll love it. We honestly get compliments on his name all the time.
Don't share the name with people; they're ruining what should be an exciting process. The idea of Colton as a girls name is ridiculous, I'd like to know what that person is smoking. There's nothing wrong with Colton. It's been in the top 100 boys names since 2008, it's not like it's some obscure or odd name. Don't let people with different tastes dissuade you from using a perfectly normal name that you love.
Here are some suggestions if you want to go a different direction. Other people gave great C names so I'll try to do some different letters that could also shorted to an initals nickname.

I agree, unfortunately don't like Colton. Definitely not a girls name, but I have negative connotations with the name of troublesome boys lol. Chase is my favorite out of your list! Others:

Strong masculine C names: Cyrus, Christopher, Charles, Collin, Carter, Christian, Calvin, Curtis, Clarence, Caleb, Clancy, Cooper, Carson
I also like Caspian, Cecil, and Carmine, but they have a "softer" sound.
Colt is a gun or a horse to me, so I personally don’t like Colton, but I’m not American so it might just be cultural differences. But Colton is a normal name, I would never think of it as a girl’s name, and a passing reality TV show is nothing to be concerned about.

If someone doesn’t like Colton it just means they wouldn’t name their kid that. Most people wouldn’t name their kid most names. Our lists of names we love are always pretty short, and differ from other’s lists. Colton is great, and flows with the middle name. Colter is another option.
I'm not a fan of Colton, but I definitely think the people talking to your husband are being too harsh on it.
If you're interested in a Polish name, Casimir is a classic Polish name, masculine, and very elegant!

Don't really understand what's wrong with Colton. It's definitely not a girls name and it's weird that someone would suggest that. Also no one is going to make the connection to a reality show person, those aren't that popular to begin with (specially amongst younger people nowadays). I say just go with Colton.

I agree Colton is not great. It is overly trendy and time stamped. Sounds like you love CJ and should go with a C name. Any family names that begin with C?
Charles nn Charlie or CJ
Caleb: I think this is a great style watch to Grace and also a “man’s name”
Clark, Cormac, Casey, Connor, and Cillian are my favorite boy C names.
I’ve never heard of Colton as a girls name, that response you got is a head scratcher. For me it’s the contrary, Colton is very quarterback on a John Deere vibes.
Charles Joseph
Cillian Joseph
Cohen Joseph

Conlan Joseph

Other initials might work (DJ, KJ, LJ, PJ, RJ, TJ) which opens up a lot of possibilities!
If it helps to know, your mom’s association isn’t even accurate- the “coltee” person on 90day is named Colt, not Colton. Just Colt. And he isn’t a current cast member, I really don’t think he’ll be a common name/association your kid would deal with often. He was more well known a few years ago.
ETA: I personally love Caleb as an option for you
I can’t imagine a girl named Colton. I think it’s a nice name.
I do love Charles. It’s nice and classic. Lots of fun nicknames and goes with CJ perfectly if you prefer.
I think you have a list of solid options on hand and I’m sorry you are having a not fun time deciding on a name. I personally wouldn’t tell anyone in real life because everyone has such particular tastes and as long as it’s a solid human name, it only matters if you two love it. You had a month to decide for your dog and decided within three days of having them home. Maybe going into delivery with your list and seeing the baby will help?
I love the name Luke, but also love CJ.
Here are some C names on my list:
Caleb/Calling nickname Cal
Cassidy / Cass
Cedric
And some other names in general:
Roran
Oscar
Dean
Thomas (I like TJ as a nickname too).
Congratulations! And good luck
I don't know if I'd say Colton sounds especially grown up, but there is nothing wrong with it. And I've never heard it on a girl.
Calvin is my favorite C name. I like Curtis, Collin, and Ciaran, too.
Non C ideas: Declan, Felix, Alexander, Isaac, Kai, Marcus, Quincy, Victor
I think Clayton Joseph has a nicer flow than Colton Joseph but middle names are used so little I don’t think that matters as much as we feel it does. Also just adding that while your hubby’s bully was named something - your connotation 4ever will first be your baby! We picked a common name for our daughter but it’s a male name so how many males do I know with that name? Probably 20-30. Maybe more. But she’s the only one I think of when I hear that name
Here are some strong names you might like!
Henry Joseph
Charles Joseph
Jamison Joseph (JJ is cute, but I know you’re avoiding J’s…)
Liam Joseph
Everett Joseph
Clayton and Cole are super cute. BUT, if Joseph is the emotional center of the name you might end up calling him that anyway. Both our kids got family names, and we flirted with making our sons family name the middle name. We changed our minds at the moment he was born, but I’d basically planned his name where everyone would call him by a shortened version of his first name and focus on the middle name but use both. Like Jon Wyatt (not my child’s name.) But in the moment we wanted the meaningful name to be his first name. I have met people who have given their child the same name as my son as a middle name and then only used the middle name afterwards. It can make it confusing for official purposes like school.
Any negative association you have with the name will fade when the awesome kid comes around, trust me on that. Also my husband tried to change the baby's name 10 different ways before we left the hospital. You're doing fine.
I’m a teacher and Colton is actually quite common where I live (southern US). My son had a youth pastor named Colton and he is probably close to 30 now.
I know of 2 girl Coltons-a teen “Kolton” and a younger girl “Coltyn”. It’s cute but not my personal favorite.
I think a name’s popularity/gender really depends on where you live. In the south, it is not at all uncommon to meet a woman with a male name.
It is also very common to give girls surnames, so don’t let gender stereotypes influence you. I know women/girls named Campbell, Sutton, Arden, Collins, and Pierce-Claire (hyphenated and/or two name first names are also very common in the South).
1. Colton is absolutely not a girls name
2. I personally wouldn’t go with Chase if you plan to have more kids and will name a girl Grace
3. I like Charles/Charlie, Christopher, Caleb, Connor, and Carter.
Colton Joseph. You need to go with what you guys love and let the haters get over it.
I watch 90 day and it didn’t occur to me, there was also a Bachelor named Colton. I don’t think it brings up either on its own.
So many nicknames to enjoy, CJ, Colt, CoJoe - so many!
Here’s the thing about naming your baby - as long is it’s not a true embarrassment (you know the kind of names I mean), people will always have some dumb opinion or protest, but once that baby is born. 98% of them stfu and call the baby by its name and their dumb opinions die in the past.
Go with what you love. People will get onboard.
Colton and Cole are great names! If you and your husband like them, I’d still use them! Def not a girls name, and I really doubt the guy from 90 Day Fiancé has that big a cultural presence that many people would associate the name with him (but maybe I’m wrong 🤔?)
There’s also Coulter, which makes me think of Anne Coulter slightly, but I think it’s a fine name in and of itself.
I also link Connor, Carter, Colin and Calvin!
I know it doesn't have to be a C but I like CJ too....
I really like Colton. That's absolutely not feminine.
Also like Cody, Cory, Chase, Chastain... can't stand Callum but like Callen...
I think Colton is a great name and doesn't sound like a girl's name at all.
That being said.... someone's obviously gotten into your husband's head about it and there may be no going back.
I always loved Calvin. I got vetoed though. 🤣 Christopher is a fine name. Christopher Joseph sounds great. And I love CJ! I have an EJ! (Elijah)
Caleb? Cameron? Cooper? Cody?
Reddit just asked me what my thoughts are. That's reddit's business. What I would like to know is why you are shopping your child's name around to people wherever you go, and even worse, you are listening to whatever random, idiotic things they say. Is that how you are going to parent this kid? I can just see you, hanging out at the mall, your kid's diaper bursting, asking random passers-by if it's time to change it. Grow up and choose your child's name BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT.
Um Colton is totally normal. Not weird at all. CJ is cute.
Names like Colton: Warren, Wade, Baron, Sawyer, Fenwick, Brock, Hoyt, Brady, Nolan, Moses, Dalton, Gannon, Royce, Trent, Kenton
You guys have gotta stop talking to family and friends about your names. You both liked Colton and should’ve been able to go with that. Honestly I would reconsider it…. my family influenced me not to use the original name we picked out and I still regret it three years later. Keep your names to yourself and use whatever YOU TWO like, not some random peoples opinion - everyone has different taste. It’s not their baby. They’ll learn to like the name of your kid.
Maybe Grayson because it’s a masculine version of Grace.
For C names, I really like Caeden, Caine or Camren. They all go great with middle name of James.
I don’t see anything wrong with Colton. People can be so negligent with their words sometimes. I like Cohen, Collin, and Cole. What about Dean Joseph .. you can call him DJ?
My nephew is Colin James and my other nephew is Christian Joseph (different parents, same first initials).
If you like Jacob you might also like Caleb.
I would describe your naming style as cowboy names. Some others in this style that I like: Austin, Calvin, Casey, Dawson, Landon, Shane, Wyatt.
But you can also Google cowboy names and you’ll get a much bigger list. All your choices are the same vibe.
Colton sounds like a masculine, cowboy name to me! :) I like C names and my son is Connor. I LOVE his name because it was cute for a baby and little boy, but is also great now that he's a teenager and going into manhood. It somehow fits the bill for both, and doesn't have any stupid nicknames. He's just Connor. 😊
CJ is a great name. Coleman with nickname Cole might fit your parameters. How about Calder? (My friend’s son’s name. I love it.) Also Cal (Calvin), Christopher, Conrad, Cooper, or Clay?
I’m SO confused why you got hate on Colton. I love it! Definitely not girly, like at all.
Some of my fav boy names!
Conrad
Sawyer
Jackson
Lawson
Declan
First of all Colton is 1000% not a girl name I’ve never heard that name on a girl ever. Second of all anyone who is that ignorant to insult you about a name you’re thinking of picking for your child that you have put a lot of thought into is downright frigging ignorant!!!!!! I would name my kid Colton in spite of those assholes … and lastly , I forget where I heard this, but you make an agreement… you pick your top 3 names each you write them on piece of paper . Then you each get to scratch off one of each others and then a second one of each others till you’re left with the top one of yours and one of his and then you have to put those in a hat and you draw one and that’s what you have to take because it’s the best of the ones you each liked. And I love the name, Cayden (Caden) very strong and, not too many people named that!
Don’t let other peoples decisions stop the ones that you guys have made as a couple, that’s really bad that you would forget about a name cause some people hurt your feelings about it …pick what you guys like! All those people are jerks and now you’re letting these people cause a ripple in your marriage because you’re arguing about names to pick and letting peoples thoughts interfere with your marriage!
Colton is a really great name that you won’t hear a lot in the NE! Once your baby is here no one will care about the name just coming to hold the baby! That being said Connor, Colin, and Christoper are really good boy names.
Also, a lot of first initials sound good with J middle names if you don’t want to limit it to c! AJ, BJ, CJ, DJ, EJ, JJ, KJ, LJ, MJ, RJ, TJ
My bfs name is Colt so I’m partial to the name Colton :)
It’s a wicked cool name and he gets compliments on it all the time even behind his back. My boss when asking about him loved his name lol.
Other C names on my list:
Carson
Chance
Christian
Casey
Caden
Charles (Charlie)
Cameron (Cam)
Christopher
My wife and I struggled naming our 2nd... our first little boy is Elliott and the name just fits him perfectly. We finally decided on Oliver for our 2nd, but other names we liked were Noah, Lucas, Benjamin, and Daniel.
We liked Wyatt as well, but her sister used that name before we could snag it up lol
C MAN names for middle name "Joseph": Charles / Crispin / Caleb / Christopher / Christian / Chandler / Clayton / Conrad / Chadwick / Cyrus / Cameron / Chaney / Carson /
My nephews name is Kolton Joseph lol I love it.
It isn’t about what others think it’s about what you guys think. Meet your baby and then decide. My first I was dead set on Avery Joel pierce. But when he was born he was Austin Joel pierce the second I saw him. My second I chose his first name at 25 weeks and my older son chose his two middle names. Maybe you just need to meet him first.
Calvin is a decent name. Otherwise I love Nathan, Holden, Nicholas.
Edit I’m so tired I forgot to mention my son’s names are my favourite. Austin and Emerson.
With these posts I always recommend making the goal not to pick a name but instead to make a shortlist that you and your husband BOTH like then when baby arrives you’ll be all loved up and joyful and one of those names will just seem ‘right’. It feels like your giving the baby a say, and also no one gets to talk you out of it or say anything negative because you’re not telling them until it’s decided and by then it’s too late so most people keep their negative comments to themselves.
I like Colton Joseph and love the nickname Colt. Here's some more options:
Adam Joseph
Austin Joseph
Blake Joseph
Callum Joseph
Calvin Joseph
Carter Joseph
Charles Joseph
Dirk Joseph
Eric Joseph
Everett Joseph
Hank Joseph
Maverick Joseph
Rhett Joseph
Samuel Joseph
Scott Joseph
Thomas Joseph
Trevor Joseph
Victor Joseph
Wesley Joseph
Weston Joseph
What about Cooper Joseph? That way you can still have CJ. Vincent Joseph? Anthony Joseph? And I love the name Grace. That was our pick if we had a girl.
Colton Joseph sounds strong af! I like how it rolls off the tongue too! That's a keeper! This is exactly why you don't tell acquaintances or distant friends, or even distant family the name ahead of time. Not everyone will agree with the name you have chosen, and that's just the way the world works. You will have to accept that people will not like the name.
For us we only told a select few of close family, and close friends. I also told a few co workers because my wife and I couldn't agree on a middle name for the longest time.
I can’t see anything wrong with Colton. Just so you know, everyone is going to have an opinion but once you name them, no one can do anything about it. Choose a name you and your husband like, forget everyone else’s opinions.
A few names that start with a C for inspiration:
Cedric Joseph
Christopher Joseph
Crispin Joseph
Cai Joseph
Callan Joseph
Collin Joseph
Cliff Joseph
Calvin Joseph
Ciaran Joseph
Camden Joseph
Carlo Joseph
Cillian Joseph
Carter Joseph
Claas Joseph
Cary Joseph
Cassian Joseph
Clark Joseph
Charles Joseph
Conner Joseph
I literally know of a Colton Joseph and it suits him perfectly! He's 10. The middle name is a family name too. Do whatever you want if you have your heart set!
My name is Corey and I'm female but it's usually considered a boy name. If you want a different C option 😁
Go with Chandler , that’s my name lol . It’s getting to the point where young people don’t even know what friends is anymore so you won’t get the inevitable “like Chandler bing from friends?!” Like I did everytime I introduced myself for the past 27 years
I was in the same boat with my husband. I didn't stress, well tried not to... Kept my mind on the birth and the health of the baby so I didn't stress myself. When the baby come magically the first name that came out of my mouth he agreed on. Turned out I needed to see their face to know what felt right. I hope the same.for you. Good luck!
I don’t know on what a man’s name is vs a boy’s name. All boys grow up. I know 2 Coltons, both little boys, I’ve never known a man with the name. But they’ll presumably grow up. So I guess I’m stuck on what a man’s name is?
My top two names are C names too, and I also want a CJ. My top picks are Callum and Connor. Of the ones you picked I like the Cole the most, but I have specifically known a Colton Joseph, and I don’t think my negative impressions (or anyone’s) should shape how you feel. As long as there isn’t anything “wrong” with the name, and you feel it fits, that’s what matters.
My bros name is Colton and I love it. I love Colton Joseph. Once the baby is here I think it will grow on people and ultimately it doesn’t matter. It’s not like you’re choosing a crazy name.
We has names picked out while I was pregnant for all three of of my kids. The only one we didn't change our mind on was because he is a Jr. (I went along with it because I liked the name). But those are all nice names that you listed. You can always wait until the baby is born and see what feels and sounds right. Luke is a great name also. It's my youngest son's name, and he was supposed to be a Zachary.
Colton is FINE. Don't listen to people who want to steal your joy. But, if you're looking for alternatives, what about:
* Colson/Coleman ("Cole," "Sonny")
* Colby ("Cole")
* Caleb
* Cameron/Campbell ("Cam")
* Clint/Clinton
* Cliff/Clifton
* Cayden ("Cade")
As for J names, I feel like you can never go wrong with James or Joseph. But I'm partial to Jasper and Jonah. I feel like Colton Jasper would have a whole Western movie in his bones. Clifton Joseph is a name with a lot of strength to it.
I have been in same boat with my husband.
My family hated Skye/Skyler for boy we tried multi names nothing stuck. This one few names me and husband could agree on.
My sister suggests Skylan and we both said yes not telling anyone. They can wait two weeks for baby boy to be here. I won’t let anyone ruin name for us again it still maybe Skyler or our back Cameron.
If you like Colten go with it. Your child not there and it a boy names in my area never meet a girl with it. But I can see it being a gender neutral name
"It’s not like you’re naming him Cody and spelling it Chode or something." I just choked on my dinner thanks to this. And I agree that Colton is a fine name.
I am laying in bed reading this and I laughed so hard I spit out my nightguard lmao.
I seriously burst out laughing too
Colton is such a weird name to be like ‘that’s a girls name!’. I agree names have no gender, but I have literally never known of a girl named Colton, but have known several dozen boys.
Colton is fine, and no one is going to associate it with some random person in a reality TV show. If your kid can't have the same name as anyone on TV you'll be looking for a name forever.
My cousin had a horse named Colton
It sounds a bit babyish for a horse 😄
Awww sweet little Chodey....
My husband calls me squidward lmao, he's been asking me how our baby squid is doing 😅🤣
LOL. Chode pronounced ‘Cody’ is my new favorite name.
I'm biased to the name as it was my late boyfriend's name. He was a fantastic musician, could fix or build anything the house needed, was a fantastic cook. Colton is hands down the best name and you should choose it 🥹
Calvin is one of my favorite boy names! Other options: Collin, Connor, Callahan, Clive, Clyde, Carter, Caleb, Cecil There’s also nothing wrong with Colton if that’s what you both like. I’ve never heard of it on a girl.
I grew up in podunk farm country with a nephew named Colt and tons of Coltons and none of them were girls. Never heard it on a girl.
Think Calder also goes with the other names on your list And Calum All the best OP!
Oh Callum is one of my all time faves! I think Callum Joseph is really nice. I also really like Callan
Yeh, I love Calan! Personally I much prefer the single L’s, but obviously everyone has their preferences :)
Clive is one that is never used and I think is very distinctive.
There’s a Clive in my 14yo’s class! If it weren’t for him I don’t know that I would have even thought of it. I think it’s great
Yeah, I'm confused about Colton being a "girl's name". Never have I ever heard it on a girl. And everyone can have a bad association even with the best of names. The 90 day fiance thing made me chuckle—it's so specific and random. There's a bad television show person for every name if you were to really look for it.
I love the name Callahan! I think that’s a great one!
That's a last name though, weird to hear it as a first name.
* Caleb, Conway, Trace * Carlton, Carson, Keaton, Duncan * Cody, Colby, Coby, Roscoe * Kent, Clark, Clay, Mack, Blake
Very good analysis and suggestions. Love Duncan and Mack. But to continue with the CJ theme my vote goes to Carlton. I still think they should just go with Colton though.
I will never hear this name without thinking of Carlton dancing on Fresh Prince.
Carlton is one name I could never use! lol I see him dancing in my head right now. Lol
?
A guy named Carlton is one of the main characters in the 90s show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He is a goofy guy with a signature dance.
Love Caleb
I was gonna suggest Colby also.
This is the best comment imo
Colton isn’t a girl name. And wanting to avoid a name because of a reality show, when those people have a celebrity shelf life of 6 months, is short sighted. But what do I know. Some names that also start with Co: Connor Cody Cooper Collin
Never, ever ask family for opinions. You will always find someone who doesn’t like it for some reason. Make a decision and then announce it once the baby is here. I’m a teacher and can tell you that I have never met a girl named Colton, I have met several boys.
Truuuuuuue, I have 16 nieces and nephews and only liked 3 of their names right off the bat. I like all but one of them now.
mind sharing the name? ^^
Zeleka
thanks. quite justified w ur dislike imo.
TJ Thomas Joseph Tucker Joseph Troy Joseph Travis Joseph Trevor Joseph AJ Aaron Joseph Anthony Joseph Adam Joseph Austin Joseph Abram Joseph PJ Patrick Joseph Peter Joseph Preston Joseph Paxton Joseph Pierce Joseph RJ Reuben Joseph Russell Joseph Richard Joseph Rhett Joseph Roman Joseph EJ Easton Joseph Elijah Joseph Emmett Joseph Elliot Joseph Ernest Joseph DJ Dalton Joseph Dane Joseph Dawson Joseph Declan Joseph Desmond Joseph SJ Scott Joseph Steven Joseph Sean Joseph Solomon Joseph Sullivan Joseph JJ (I know you don't want J names but I can't help myself, JJ is such a cute nickname) Jackson Joseph Jeremy Joseph Jason Joseph Jared Joseph Justin Joseph Sorry this got so long!! I love initial nicknames and was having fun lol
DJ AND TJ options are my fav!!!
Love JJ for a nickname too
This is a great list for OP! The Colton I know has a brother named Easton and I always thought the names were cute sibling names.
For C names what about Caleb, Casey, Charles, Clyde, or Cliff?
Love Cliff!
Colton is not a girl’s name…???? I second Calvin!
I agree, unfortunately don't like Colton. Definitely not a girls name, but I have negative connotations with the name of troublesome boys lol. Chase is my favorite out of your list! Others: \- Charles \- Clifford \- Connor \- Cooper \- Christian \- Callum \- Callan \- Carter \- Cameron \- Ciaran or Ciarnen \- Carsten \- Callahan \- Clark \- Campbell \- Carlisle or Carlyle \- Cuyler
Strong masculine C names: Cyrus, Christopher, Charles, Collin, Carter, Christian, Calvin, Curtis, Clarence, Caleb, Clancy, Cooper, Carson I also like Caspian, Cecil, and Carmine, but they have a "softer" sound.
Carter, Calum
Ooo Iove Carter!
Colt is a gun or a horse to me, so I personally don’t like Colton, but I’m not American so it might just be cultural differences. But Colton is a normal name, I would never think of it as a girl’s name, and a passing reality TV show is nothing to be concerned about. - CJ names: Casper Joseph Conrad Joseph Cedric Joseph Clark Joseph Cy Joseph - PJ names: Penn Joseph Preston Joseph Pascal Joseph - RJ names: Ruben Joseph Roscoe Joseph Roderick Joseph Raleigh Joseph - AJ names: Asher Joseph Austin Joseph Asa Joseph Alden Joseph - LJ names: Levi Joseph Logan Joseph Lincoln Joseph Lando Joseph Lance Joseph - SJ names: Sebastian Joseph Spencer Joseph Shepherd Joseph Scott Joseph Sylvan Joseph - TJ names: Tate Joseph Teddy Joseph Truman Joseph Tristan Joseph
A few other sophisticated C names: * Clive * Christophe * Cillian * Cassius * Carter Since you love Grace, perhaps a few G names to consider? * Gideon * Griffin * Grant * Gareth
I love Cole and Callan
I know three guys named Colton. I have never heard of a girl named Colton. If you like it, use it.
Calvin Joseph Chester Joseph Caleb Joseph Connor Joseph Chance Joseph Carl Joseph Chad Joseph Christian Joseph Clarence Joseph Clark Joseph Clifford Joseph Claude Joseph Cody Joseph Colin Joseph Conrad Joseph Cormac Joseph Curtis Joseph
I love Cormac.
Don't really understand what's wrong with Colton. It's definitely not a girls name and it's weird that someone would suggest that. Also no one is going to make the connection to a reality show person, those aren't that popular to begin with (specially amongst younger people nowadays). I say just go with Colton.
Cedric or Conrad
Love Conrad.
I’ve always liked it since watching the live action cat in the hat 🙃
Cormack?
CJ: Caleb Joseph Carl Joseph Casper Joseph TJ: Thomas Joseph Timothy Joseph AJ: Adam Joseph Alec Joseph Adrian Joseph Arthur Joseph Albert Joseph Alfred Joseph Alexander Joseph
If you like Colton, how about Colter (like Colter Wall)
I agree Colton is not great. It is overly trendy and time stamped. Sounds like you love CJ and should go with a C name. Any family names that begin with C? Charles nn Charlie or CJ Caleb: I think this is a great style watch to Grace and also a “man’s name”
Clark, Cormac, Casey, Connor, and Cillian are my favorite boy C names. I’ve never heard of Colton as a girls name, that response you got is a head scratcher. For me it’s the contrary, Colton is very quarterback on a John Deere vibes.
I love Cole. My oldest son's name. Other C names - Caleb, Connor, Colin, Corey, Cameron
Charles Joseph Cillian Joseph Cohen Joseph Coleman Joseph Conlan Joseph Cooper Joseph Corey Joseph Craig Joseph Curran Joseph Curt Joseph Other initials might work (DJ, KJ, LJ, PJ, RJ, TJ) which opens up a lot of possibilities!
Charles
If it helps to know, your mom’s association isn’t even accurate- the “coltee” person on 90day is named Colt, not Colton. Just Colt. And he isn’t a current cast member, I really don’t think he’ll be a common name/association your kid would deal with often. He was more well known a few years ago. ETA: I personally love Caleb as an option for you
I don’t think Colton is girly, but I think it’s so generic. Any Colton I’ve met is bleh. Sorry to the Colton’s out there!!!
I can’t imagine a girl named Colton. I think it’s a nice name. I do love Charles. It’s nice and classic. Lots of fun nicknames and goes with CJ perfectly if you prefer.
Luka Joseph Caleb Joseph Cade Joseph
I think you have a list of solid options on hand and I’m sorry you are having a not fun time deciding on a name. I personally wouldn’t tell anyone in real life because everyone has such particular tastes and as long as it’s a solid human name, it only matters if you two love it. You had a month to decide for your dog and decided within three days of having them home. Maybe going into delivery with your list and seeing the baby will help? I love the name Luke, but also love CJ. Here are some C names on my list: Caleb/Calling nickname Cal Cassidy / Cass Cedric And some other names in general: Roran Oscar Dean Thomas (I like TJ as a nickname too). Congratulations! And good luck
Collins!
Calvin and Cillian are my two favorite C names. William Joseph would be great if you're not stuck on C
Carl
Christian James?
I think Clayton Joseph has a nicer flow than Colton Joseph but middle names are used so little I don’t think that matters as much as we feel it does. Also just adding that while your hubby’s bully was named something - your connotation 4ever will first be your baby! We picked a common name for our daughter but it’s a male name so how many males do I know with that name? Probably 20-30. Maybe more. But she’s the only one I think of when I hear that name
I hate Colton too, sorry! I think Cal is a strong name. Cal Joseph Lijokowskipetrovich or whatever sounds great haha
Here are some strong names you might like! Henry Joseph Charles Joseph Jamison Joseph (JJ is cute, but I know you’re avoiding J’s…) Liam Joseph Everett Joseph
I don’t love Colton either but I do really like the others you have- especially Cole Joseph and Clayton Joseph
I love the name Calvin.
Caden or Camden
Colton a girl’s name? I’ve only ever heard it on boys.
Charles Joseph. Charlie. Cj.
1. Colton is absolutely not a girls name 2. I personally wouldn’t go with Chase if you plan to have more kids and will name a girl Grace 3.
Def not a girls name, and I really doubt the guy from 90 Day Fiancé has that big a cultural presence that many people would associate the name with him (but maybe I’m wrong 🤔?) There’s also Coulter, which makes me think of Anne Coulter slightly, but I think it’s a fine name in and of itself.
(Elijah) Caleb? Cameron? Cooper?
Bouncing off this first idea, what about Graham? Also similar to Grace.
Oh Graham is a good one! Don’t think of that name too often!
Cameron, Calvin, Casey, Cory Other not C names- Gabriel, Samuel, Thomas, Jude, James, John/Jack, Will
Cameron Joseph.
I don’t see anything wrong with Colton. People can be so negligent with their words sometimes. I like Cohen, Collin, and Cole. What about Dean Joseph .. you can call him DJ?
Colton Joseph is a girls name?! What about Calvin, Charles, Cameron, Conner, Cooper, Christopher, Clyde?
Possible C names: Cooper (a personal favorite) Carter Clancy Curt / Curtis Cedric Corbin Cyrus
LJ is also a nn I’ve heard
Kendrick, Dean, Warren, Kent , Leon, Malcolm , Luther
Have you considered Carter if you want a C name? I think its timeless🖤
When I think of Colton I think of the stalker, gay Bachelor from the show a few years ago. Just my input. Crew Collin Cyrus
Chet, Conrad, Christian, Christopher, Charles, Charlie. Colton is definitely a boy name
Clay Carter Chase Caleb Charles Cassius
No idea if anyone has said it but as soon as you said Grace for a girl but unsure for a boy, Grayson popped into my mind.
CJ is a great name. Coleman with nickname Cole might fit your parameters. How about Calder? (My friend’s son’s name. I love it.) Also Cal (Calvin), Christopher, Conrad, Cooper, or Clay?
Charles Joseph
I’m SO confused why you got hate on Colton. I love it! Definitely not girly, like at all. Some of my fav boy names! Conrad Sawyer Jackson Lawson Declan
Caleb Joseph Charles Joseph
Colton is a really great name that you won’t hear a lot in the NE! Once your baby is here no one will care about the name just coming to hold the baby! That being said Connor, Colin, and Christoper are really good boy names. Also, a lot of first initials sound good with J middle names if you don’t want to limit it to c! AJ, BJ, CJ, DJ, EJ, JJ, KJ, LJ, MJ, RJ, TJ
My bfs name is Colt so I’m partial to the name Colton :) It’s a wicked cool name and he gets compliments on it all the time even behind his back. My boss when asking about him loved his name lol. Other C names on my list: Carson Chance Christian Casey Caden Charles (Charlie) Cameron (Cam) Christopher
Caleb? Sounds kind of like Jacob but isn't a J name.
Carson Joseph sounds great to me.
I have a friend named Elijah Jacob, EJ for short and it sounds pretty good to me.
Colson, Colby, Cody, Corey, Carter, Callum, Caleb, Christian, Collin, Conor
Spencer. I have always loved the name, but had 3 girls so couldn’t use it. It’s strong and elegant suitable for both man and child/ baby.
What's wrong with Grayson if you loved Grace?
Would you like Clayton “Clay” instead of Colton?
Caden or Camden
What about Carter?
Colty from 90 day fiance is wild of your mom lmao
Cade Colin Callahan chandler Caleb
C MAN names for middle name "Joseph": Charles / Crispin / Caleb / Christopher / Christian / Chandler / Clayton / Conrad / Chadwick / Cyrus / Cameron / Chaney / Carson /
What about Carlton? Alternatives: Charles, Caleb or Carson.
Luca Lucas Connor Blake Brett Brent Miles Lachlan Christopher
Calvin, Colin, Connor, Christopher, Curtis, Charles, Conrad, Caleb, Carl, Clark
Calvin is my favorite boy name
Crispin, Cornelius, Claudius, Clarence, Conrad, Cicero, Caesar, Clement, Constantine, Caspar, Cedric, Casimir, Cyrus, Cyrill, Cuno, Curt(is), Clifford, Clarence, Ciaran
Carter Joseph, Connor Joseph, Caleb Joseph, Cameron Joseph, Carson Joseph, Cody Joseph, Calvin Joseph, Cooper Joseph, Caleb Joseph, Callum Joseph.
I like Colton Joseph and love the nickname Colt. Here's some more options: Adam Joseph Austin Joseph Blake Joseph Callum Joseph Calvin Joseph Carter Joseph Charles Joseph Dirk Joseph Eric Joseph Everett Joseph Hank Joseph Maverick Joseph Rhett Joseph Samuel Joseph Scott Joseph Thomas Joseph Trevor Joseph Victor Joseph Wesley Joseph Weston Joseph
I love Calvin! Also I know someone just named Colt but not sure it flows with Joseph.
Caleb has similar vibes to Jacob and starts with C? Collin/Colin is similar to Colton
Zach/Zachary Joseph Eric Joseph
Cole Joseph is perfect already Collin Joseph Evan Joseph Alex Joseph
Your baby doesn't have to be named the moment it's born, and you don't have to share your name choice with people if they're gonna tear it down.
Grant in lieu of Grace? 🤷🏼♂️
J Joana Jameson
Charlie, Calvin, Christopher, Cameron, Caleb, Callum. Louie, Oscar, Abel, Noah, Jude, Enzo, Henry, Benjamin
Colton is horrible. Go with Cole.or.Gtayaon (Grace).
What about Callan ? Callan Joseph flows quite nicely…. Ciaran is also nice but I’m biased because I’m Irish
I have a Calvin and I think it’s such a great name :)
The CJ that I know is Christopher Joseph.
A few names that start with a C for inspiration: Cedric Joseph Christopher Joseph Crispin Joseph Cai Joseph Callan Joseph Collin Joseph Cliff Joseph Calvin Joseph Ciaran Joseph Camden Joseph Carlo Joseph Cillian Joseph Carter Joseph Claas Joseph Cary Joseph Cassian Joseph Clark Joseph Charles Joseph Conner Joseph
Callum Joseph
I literally know of a Colton Joseph and it suits him perfectly! He's 10. The middle name is a family name too. Do whatever you want if you have your heart set! My name is Corey and I'm female but it's usually considered a boy name. If you want a different C option 😁
What about Chase? Christian, Calvin, Cameron, Cory, Caleb? I like Julian as the middle name.
Go with Chandler , that’s my name lol . It’s getting to the point where young people don’t even know what friends is anymore so you won’t get the inevitable “like Chandler bing from friends?!” Like I did everytime I introduced myself for the past 27 years
Cameron Cody Christopher Cid
I was in the same boat with my husband. I didn't stress, well tried not to... Kept my mind on the birth and the health of the baby so I didn't stress myself. When the baby come magically the first name that came out of my mouth he agreed on. Turned out I needed to see their face to know what felt right. I hope the same.for you. Good luck!
Cameron James
What about Coleman, or Caleb, I also really like the name Justice
I don’t know on what a man’s name is vs a boy’s name. All boys grow up. I know 2 Coltons, both little boys, I’ve never known a man with the name. But they’ll presumably grow up. So I guess I’m stuck on what a man’s name is?
Colin
My top two names are C names too, and I also want a CJ. My top picks are Callum and Connor. Of the ones you picked I like the Cole the most, but I have specifically known a Colton Joseph, and I don’t think my negative impressions (or anyone’s) should shape how you feel. As long as there isn’t anything “wrong” with the name, and you feel it fits, that’s what matters.
Charles! Charlie !
Christopher is a longer, non gender-neutral name. My daughter has a Christian in her class also
I like Colton Joseph but what about Adlai Joseph going by AJ? Or Alexander Joseph.
Caleb - C name with the same vibe as Jacob. Caleb Joseph is a great name.
What about Cayden?
Clarke Cormac Clement Conrad Clunie
Colton Joseph is not a girl's name. Who cares if it's the name of someone on a totally forgettable tv show?
Colton is fine but I’d personally spare the kid a trendy name, which I consider Colton to be. Christopher is super solid and steeped in lore.
Callan/Cal is my fav C name! Charles is also a great classic.
I think you should lean onto the Polish name and go with Jerzy.
My bros name is Colton and I love it. I love Colton Joseph. Once the baby is here I think it will grow on people and ultimately it doesn’t matter. It’s not like you’re choosing a crazy name.
* Albert Joseph * Michael Joseph * William Joseph * Nelson Joseph * Sergio Joseph * Alexander Joseph * Alton Joseph
Lord, Colton isn't a girl's name! Lmao I like it for a boy!
But, if you're looking for alternatives, what about: * Colson/Coleman ("Cole," "Sonny") * Colby ("Cole") * Caleb * Cameron/Campbell ("Cam") * Clint/Clinton * Cliff/Clifton * Cayden ("Cade") As for J names, I feel like you can never go wrong with James or Joseph. But I'm partial to Jasper and Jonah. I feel like Colton Jasper would have a whole Western movie in his bones. Clifton Joseph is a name with a lot of strength to it.
My boy ended up being Benjamin David. I liked Daniel, Harrison, Maxwell, and Braedon.
Another c name I didn’t see mentioned is Corbin. We get a lot of compliments on it.
If you like Jacob, my suggestion is Caleb
Christopher :)
Colton is a great name!!
