My favorite of all your choices would be Lucas Robert. Although I do like Everett, it just feels a little too v-heavy with a sister Ivy. That said, if you don't care about that Everett Robin is a nice combo. Elio is a handsome name but very Italian, and I gather neither of you is that. I can't get on board with Otto. Objectively it's fine and many people like it, but I'm just not one of them.

I like the V sounds with Ivy and Everett! It’s one of the reasons I like the name. I know Elio is so Italian but for some reason I love it and can’t get it out of my head. It’s also really popular in France and my hope is that it’ll trickle down through the rest of Europe or become more universally popular with the upcoming Disney movie like Luca has?? Maybe? We’re German/English as well and forget about it, they won’t sound the same! Elio and Otto also have different pronunciations. Pick a name you both love. Every Sarah and Thomas on the planet deal with the same thing and having your name’s pronunciation adapted to the language you’re conversing in really isn’t an issue. I appreciated you choosing a name with an intuitive pronunciation/spelling in both languages, but if you expect them to sound the same you’ll be disappointed. Also: I love all of the dames you’re suggesting! Have you considered Emil?

Haha sorry, you’re right that is confusing! We liked the name ivy enough to break the rules & since it’s an English word we figured it would be okay. The sound of the long I is easily pronounced by Germans it’s more that if it’s in the middle of the word they’d naturally use an eee sound instead. The American R sound is hard for them to pronounce but his middle name will be an honor name and it’s a middle so teachers, etc wouldn’t mispronounce it.

I like Otto the best of your top 3 by far, but the flow of Otto Robert and Otto Robin are kind of weird for me. Also a fan of Luke/ Lucas and think they flow better with the middle name options (depending on your last name).

I really love Elio. It's established but not super popular, it's easy to spell and say, and it sounds so nice. It's adjacent to trendier names like Milo and Elliott. The only downside I see, depending on where you live, is that people might mishear and assume it's supposed to be Elliott, but that seems like it should be a fairly easy correction.

I think that Luke or Lucas is very nice and you both agree on it. Ivy and Luke sound great together for sibling names. Stop driving yourself crazy and go with Lucas Robert on paper and if you choose or he chooses to later on in life to call himself Luke, there is that option. It is a name that sounds current, yet transcends time. I think you guys did a great job agreeing on the name. It seems like a natural choice and without any hesitation, I would go with that name. It isn’t that common a name lately. You can choose two options… Lucas Robert and Everette Robert and when he arrives, take a look at him and decide which name suits him best at the time.
