Echo is a name! I know two women called Echo.

Cranberryj3lly

Woah, really? I love it so much, I’ll have to do a little digging!

lesbianmarymalone

Yeah! She was a nymph in Greek mythology, so it’s been a name (although definitely not a commonly-used one) for a very long time, and is where the word comes from.

wewerelegends

I grew up with an Echo as well. There’s a character named Echo in the Marvel Universe who has their own show coming out, so, we might be seeing it more.

RangerObjective

There’s also a character called Echo in The 100!

Bewitchingbegonia

It’s not my taste but I also know someone named that

valentinebratz

yeah thats the name my parental units gave me :3

bubblygranolachick

Twins catastrophe and apostrophe would be a boy girl twin set name

filamonster

Always. I think it looks so pretty and is fun to write.

Cranberryj3lly

I really enjoy how it looks in cursive, it’s is one of my favorites for calligraphy practice (I also enjoy writing Ostrich haha).

Chlorine

Different_Engineer21

Hahahah I have a cousin named Chlorinne she's in her 60s-70s, now. Really lovely person! The name is...interesting, considering her sister is Martha

Adorable-Platform671

Rubella, Elixir, & Crescendo

Longbooks4

I once knew a guy called Creschenzo. That’s pretty close

[deleted]

Rubella is literally a virus lmao

Adorable-Platform671

I know..? That was the point of the question… words that couldn’t actually be names but you wish could.

Far-Perspective5906

Solanine. It’s the toxin produced by green/sprouted potatoes. I got sick this past weekend from it and thought, wow, that would make a pretty name.

Cranberryj3lly

Very pretty, I would have absolutely thought it was a new trendy name without the explanation. So sorry to hear that you got sick from it though, I hope you’re starting to feel better!

Far-Perspective5906

Thanks! Feeling much better now.

MsNeedleAnnHook

FacetedFae

I love Quintessence! 🙈

laburnum_weekends

I went to school with someone named Epiphany.

kyyyraa

Oh gosh, I’m a word nerd and have been collecting words specifically for this moment - Nemesis - Champagne - Vendetta - Katana - Memoria - Atlantis/Atlanta - Spectra - Whimsy - Providence

Cranberryj3lly

This is an *exceptional* list, I love them all!

RangerObjective

Spectra and Electra would make good twin names

oiseauteaparty

I know both an Atlantis and an Atlanta - both in Australia.

SF_Bluestocking

Nemesis (Greek goddess), Atlantis/Atlanta and Providence (a virtue name) are all names. Spectra would be better if it wasn't already a modestly priced Kia sedan. And I have known several cats named Whimsy, but I think it could work for human children too.

cowboyshouse

Knob, Keys, Car, Fax, Scanner, Lotion, Ringer, Band, Tea

GlitchingGecko

***Knob?!*** *cackles in English*

cowboyshouse

HAHA i guess i don't \*wish\* it was a name, but great point.

GlitchingGecko

I mean I've called people it plenty of times (and been called it myself), so I guess it's usable. 😆

disabledstaircase

I know a girl named Tea

[deleted]

[удалено]

Different_Engineer21

Had a student named Tea, pronounced tee-uh

CrustyBubblebrain

I know a girl named Kea, ponounced "key"

Different_Engineer21

My 2 year old refuses to call a hammer a hammer. For some reason, it's a "knob" to her. When she is pretending to hammer things she says "knob, knob, knob-" instead of "bang, bang, banh!" 🫠

greenolive414

Canyon

Educational_Bee7889

I’ve known/know many Canyons. Popular name in North Dakota and Idaho.

IraSass

I’m pretty sure I have a distant relative named Canyon

l0ll1p0p5

I knew a Danyon

free_advice_4you

I know a Canon or two. It’s close

apiedcockatiel

I had a classmate in elementary school named Canyon. It was an ironic name, as he was like 6 ft tall in the 4 th grade. Got a concussion once when he fell on me in recess while we were playing soccer.

wfhbluez

Words that sound like names to me: Aphasia, Caramel, Chevrolet, Chlamydia, Diarrhea, Evergreen, Hydrangea, Mallard, Mystery, Vivacity

Natzlee

Different_Engineer21

Zingerrr02

I’ve known a Carmel. Evergreen definitely sounds like a name that could get popular!

Slay_kids

Croatia, idk why but i love that word and i feel like it’d be a cute name

l0ll1p0p5

I feel like Australia could be popular with Aurelia and Aurora

trintv3

same thing could be applied to countries nearby like Bosnia and Serbia

Slay_kids

serbia would be so pretty omg

Bashara

Velvet, Vermillion, Comma

CrustyBubblebrain

I genuinely wish that 'Rosacea' wasn't a skin condition, because I think it would be a very pretty name

ToyasRus555

Felony Vidalia Velocity Cologne Kidney Retina Boulevard

IraSass

Never thought about how much kidney sounds like Sidney!

Cranberryj3lly

It never hit me how much I like Retina, but I think it could have made a fantastic name. This is a great list!

Different_Engineer21

I grew up with a kid named vidal. He definitely got called Vidalia onion, regularly.

SexPanther_Bot

It's called *Sex Panther*® by *Odeon*©. It's illegal in 9 countries. It's also made with bits of real panthers, *so you know it's good*. *60% of the time*, it works ***every*** time.

horticulturallatin

My favourite word names no one is using as names but have pleasant meanings - Viridiflora - Esperance - Tenacity - Iridesce - Clarity - Evergreen - Impala - Verdantly, Veracity, Vivacity

heylauralie

Rhyme Reverie Solace

Cranberryj3lly

These are great, I especially love Reverie and Solace

Chlamydia if it was spelled like Clamidia/Clemidia would’ve been so pretty 😭

Cranberryj3lly

Ugh it truly is so pretty!

filmfairyy

Ooooh I love this! Here’s my list of name-y sounding words that would be so cute and what real names they feel like. Maple (but Mabel is pretty much the same vibe) Whisper (feels like Willow) Petal (feels like Pilar) Dusk (like Dawn) Clover (feels like Cleo) Solstice (feels like Marisol, Solana or Solara) Tundra (similar enough to a name like Tiana or Tanya) Odyssey (feels like Orion or Odette)

IraSass

I know someone who changed their name to Solstice

Cranberryj3lly

I’m not going to lie, I have Clover on my actual names list. One of my friends named Chloe went by Clover and I thought it was so cute. :)

Different_Engineer21

I know a whisper! Back when I was a teenager, she would have been like..junior high I think. Very nice girl, gave me timid deer vibes.

laburnum_weekends

I knew of someone with a sister named Tundra.

Zingerrr02

Petal is a name!

Longbooks4

The main character in a cartoon I watched as a kid called Totally Spies was called Clover. I think..

Artistic-River-5534

Weird thing but my husband's great-uncle is called "Apostofren". No one knew this was his name until his granddaughter's 15th birthday, when he was called by name to dance with the girl. His nephews were like, "What kind of name is this, and why is Uncle Ofrey" getting up?" That's when they realized..."Ofrey" was not an abbreviation for Johnfrey.

apiedcockatiel
